Hair -Moroccanoil - Glimmer Shine Spray
missjanesmith 7/28/2011 7:34:00 AM
I love the original Moroccanoil and use it each time I wash and style my hair so after a month I bought the glimmer spray to compliment it. After following the instructions (and not brushing or styling my hair again after applying) my hair had the lovely exotic MO scent, kept it's shape and did have a lovely shine to it. However, the day after using this product my hair is so greasy! I need to wash my hair each morning after applying this product. So one lippie lost. In fairness it does exactly what it says on the tin and my hair looks fantastic when clean and shiny, but I cannot use this every day (or I end up stripping my hair from so much washing) so now I only save it for days out & special occasions. Shame though because I had hoped to use it more regularly.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette
missjanesmith 5/18/2011 4:56:00 AM
I'm having to add to the high reviews for this palette! I've never used UD before, but was offered a trial in a department store so gave it a go. Although the SA used the sin potion on my eyes, I was very happy with the combination she used and fell for the 'we had over 50 in stock but only have 3 left' and treated myself half-heartedly (at £32). But while walking round the stores I kept seeing my makeup I grew more pleased at how it looked. I have brown eyes and find this palette really flattering without looking 'over done'. Luckily it was very easy to re-create. I have the palette with the brush (which I will use much more than an eyeliner) which is very soft and precise. I love the mini-potion and will definitely buy the full size when it runs out! I have read other reviews complaining about the fall out but I find if I lightly wipe my brush over the colour to do my first eye, then dab at the excess to do my second eye so there's no fall out and my palette is left neat and tidy and keeps the colours from mixing. My favourite combinations include a matt base of virgin or buck and then my uber fav colours are the golden half baked, hazel toasted or soft almond sin. Naked is great for highlight under my brow. I have experimented and used every single colour now for normal day-wear looks except gunmetal and creep. I'm saving them for a smoky-eye night out look. I would recommend looking at some of the UD Naked Palette tutorial's available on youtube (there's loads!) I have found some of them very helpful in showing some colour combinations I wouldn't have thought of using. I love using this palette.

Fragrances -Christian Dior - Dior Addict Shine edt
missjanesmith 3/17/2011 5:37:00 AM
The good points first - a beautiful bottle, at first a nice fresh summery fruity smell, and it definitely lasts. Bad points - the dry down on me just smelt like I'd been peeling oranges or clementines and left the juice to dry on my arm. I left it all day to see if it was just temporary but I still smelt like orange juice by the end of the day - too citrus on me. Only my personal view, it's worth trying yourself but try a sample first!

Blush -Lancome - Butterflies Fever
missjanesmith 3/10/2011 6:41:00 AM
Like most people I bought this after being tempted with such pretty colours and sparkle and the LE hype. The silver sparkle disappears after a few swipes and found what was left was a bit of light pink and lavander/purple. At first I just got a slight light pink flush which hardly appeared and I figured I'd wasted my money. However, after a few uses I have put my rating up from 2 lippies to 4. I use this as a blush only so use a combination of the light pink and lavander to make a cooler almost 'iced pink' look. I have found that swiping from right to left (rather than down like I was) gives a better combination of the colours. I have also ditched the little brush it came with and use a larger body shop blush brush. By building it up a little it does give a lovely natural day-appropriate colour which goes great with my v.fair foundation. Only reason one lippie is lost is that because I have to build it up more than other blushes I don't think it will last quite as long.

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Miracle
missjanesmith 2/25/2011 4:36:00 AM
I have this in the lightest colour 010. I wear it over the Miracle Eclat primer and together they do give a bit of a glow and my foundation looks light and flawless. It doesn't go greasy or change colour during the day. I think it gives a lovely light coverage and looks great and natural when I add a little bit of blush. When I need a heavier coverage I go back to Tient Idole but on a sunny / summer day this is lovely and light. I forget I'm wearing it. I love the glass pump (although you lose a bit of product on the sides and it the bottom of the tube) it lasts forever. A good quality product.

Highlighters -Lancome - Éclat Miracle
missjanesmith 2/25/2011 4:32:00 AM
On it's own I would give the product a lower rating. I have very pale skin anyway but it just makes it look paler and a bit greasy rather than 'glowy'. However, under foundation (the Lancome Miracle foundation) it does the trick. I guess from having a bit of colour I get the 'glow' coming from underneath. It also helps my foundation to go on evenly and stay in place. It's non-greasy. I apply it and wait 10 minutes or so before putting my foundation on. It's great when I need a lighter coverage (perfect for a sunny/summer day).

Moisturizers -Elemis - Maximum Replenish Night Cream
missjanesmith 2/25/2011 4:21:00 AM
I have been using this product for a few years now along with the day cream. I loved it for the few few tubes. It smelt lovely (not as sweet as the day cream but still pleasant), was quite thick and soaked in well. It had a sort of musky fruity scent. However, I don't know if Elemis have changed the formula but my last couple of tubes have not smelt nearly as nice, bordering on horrible. I wondered at first if my tube was off in some way even though I had bought it new from the store, but the second & third tube smelt the same. I hate waste, but had to throw one out once it smelt so bad, I couldn't stand it. It almost smells like old milk or stale yoghurt. As much as I love Elemis I will not be purchasing this night cream again. It feels nice, is non-greasy but I won't put up with the smell. I'll finish what I have, but I definitely wash my hands straight after applying it to get rid of the smell. 2 lippies because at first I did love it but no more.

Styling Products -Paul Mitchell - Seal and Shine
missjanesmith 2/11/2011 6:14:00 AM
This product didn't impress. I have a chin length bob and blow dry and straighten my hair so wanted a heat protector. However after only 2 sprays (one on each side) on my damp hair I felt my hair was weighed down so much. It also made my hair very sticky. After blow drying when I came to straighten I could feel my GHDs sticking to my hair (whereas with all other products I've used they just glide gently over) and I started to get a bit of a build up on them. My hair also went greasy after a day. It does smell lovely but it's very expensive. Wasn't happy with the results.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Beeswax Lip Balm
missjanesmith 12/21/2010 5:04:00 AM
Thought I would try this after all the good reviews. I usually use the blistex cream but it can be messy so thought I would try this in the chapstick version. I liked the minty taste and scent but that was about it. Too waxy for me. It feels like it's just a layer sitting on top of my lips and hasn't soaked in at all. I've been using it for a few days after some really cold days that made my lips sore and dry and it's done nothing, no better no worse. I will go and get some more blistex today - bit of a waste of money really since it wasn't cheap. 2 lippies for minty scent and good packaging but not worth buying again.

Styling Products -TiGi - Bedhead Small Talk
missjanesmith 12/7/2010 5:45:00 AM
I originally bought this when I had shoulder length hair for volume (rather than using a heat spray). I loved the smell (candy blueberries maybe?) but it didn't really give me too much volume so stopped using it and forgot about it. However, I've since had my hair cut chin-length short with layers and my hairdresser used this so I found mine and am very pleased with it. What I do to copy my hairdresser is after washing my hair and combing to get my parting, pump out a small coin sized amount, rub between hands and using my fingers gently apply to my hair from underneath close to the roots (but not on them) and then brush out to the ends. I do this from one side to another and it seems to get the product on right (just don't apply on the roots or it goes greasy). I then blow dry on the cooler setting and straighten the top layers to smooth. It get a great shape and nice volume. The next day my hair is much flatter but keeps its shape very nicely. It's nice not to have to wash+style every day. Very pleased. Expensive in salons but there's so many websites that sell it much cheaper there's always a great deal online. As someone mentioned the packaging isn't great for travelling but because you need so little of the product, when I go away I just pump a small amount into an old 15ml eye cream pot I finished and washed out and it makes travelling much easier!

Conditioner -TiGi - S Factor Diamond Dreams
missjanesmith 8/24/2010 5:31:00 AM
Love it like the shampoo. Together they have really improved my hair. Lovely smell like a posh strawberry & cream ice cream. I lose the scent of the shampoo in my hair after a couple of hours but it does linger in my bathroom. I find the shampoo cleans my hair well but leaves it feeling a little dried out, but as soon as I apply the conditioner and wash it out it feels soft and healthy again. The conditioner is very thick and creamy. I leave it on my hair for a few minutes before washing it out. It takes a bit longer to rinse out because it's so thick. With the shampoo it makes my hair so soft and shiney - very pleased with it. Packaging is fine, plain white bottles with the S-Factor logo on with a pump application. The pump helps me not to waste any or use more than I need. Will purchase the duo pack again when I need to.

Shampoo -TiGi - S Factor Diamond Dreams shampoo
missjanesmith 8/24/2010 5:27:00 AM
*** UPDATE *** I have been using the Tween version of this for almost a year now (and finally coming to the end of the huge bottle!) I have had no problems at all, but have found my hair doesn't stay feeling clean for 'quite' as long as it used to unless I use a different shampoo + conditioner (I find a clarifying duo gets rid of the build up) in between every 2-3 washes. As long as I do this, I keep getting great results from this shampoo and conditioner *** original post *** I have been waiting to try this shampoo - finally found it for a good deal online. If you shop around the tween duo pack can be great value and last for months & months. At full price in the small regular packs it's far too expensive. The smell is great. Sort of reminds me of strawberries and cream. It lathers up well and rinses out easily. It keeps my hair clean & fresh for a couple of days (much longer than other shampoos where I need to wash my hair again the next day). I lose the scent of the shampoo in my hair after a couple of hours but it does linger in my bathroom. It makes my hair so soft and shiney - very pleased with it. A bonus that it's sulfate free, I hope this helps my hair to stay in better condition too. Packaging is fine, plain white bottles with the S-Factor logo on with a pump application. The pump helps me not to waste any or use more than I need. After washing & conditioning I use S-Factor's heat defence spray to style and Shiney Happy People to finish. My hair usually keeps it's style (when the weather isn't too bad) and definitely keeps it's shine. Will purchase again when I need to.

Treatments -Clarins - Beauty Flash Balm
missjanesmith 8/24/2010 5:18:00 AM
I was given a small sample of this - at first I loved it. I wanted a product I could wear over my moisturiser on days I didn't really need makeup but still wanted to look nice. The main pro for me was the scent. I thought it was soft, feminine and fresh. The colour looked fine on my skin. Cons included application - I really struggled with the 'do not rub in' instruction on the packaging. No matter how I tried I ended up rubbing it in eventually. If I wore it alone my face was very shiney. Under makeup was fine, but it did make my skin feel a little tighter than normal. It didn't break me out, but my complexion was certainly less matt than when I didn't use the balm. To use the product up I use it as a mask (like it advises - perhaps why it feels a bit tight on my sensitive skin) or I try to apply it lightly as a night cream. It's too greasy/shiney for normal day wear - it makes my face look dirty. I don't find it makes much difference to my skin though - good or bad. It does make it smell nice. I have found the Clarins Instant Smooth gives me the effect I was hoping for from this product. I will stick to that from now for my 'fresh faced' look.

Primer/ Corrector -Clarins - Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch
missjanesmith 8/24/2010 5:05:00 AM
I can only repeat what others have said. I've been using it for about a month now and I think its a great primer. It really does smooth out your complexion and disguise pores. It does go on a little greasy at first but certainly not as greasy as liquid primers I have tried. It feels a bit like putty for your face. You really only need a tiny little bit of the product. I use it all over my face because of my pores and still only need about the size of half a pea. I apply it about 10 minutes after my moisturiser, dab it lightly over my face then smooth out. I leave it on my face for about 5 minutes before applying any foundation. I sometimes even wear it alone without makeup, it gives a soft pink, fresh look (sort of what I expected the Clarins Beauty Balm to do) with no shine. I forget I have it one after a few minutes. It does come in the tiniest little jar, but because you need so little product I can see why. It comes with a little curved spatula too. I don't mind the jar - it prevents waste and I make sure the lip is closed tightly & wipe the spatula clean after I've used it. I think I will be purchasing again if it doesn't clog my pores after a few more months of use. It is quite expensive so it also depends on how long 15ml lasts.

Styling Products -TiGi - S-Factor Shiny Happy People Spray Shine
missjanesmith 8/23/2010 8:53:00 AM
I was after a product that could have either medium hold (but didn't make my hair heavy/crunchy or greasy) or a product that could just stop the wind & rain having such and effect. I was trying to decide whether to try this or the chic spray. After readng the reviews I thought this was a better choice. So far I'm pleased. It seems to help when there's a bit of moisture in the air and my hair keeps its style a bit longer so I'm very happy with it. My hair is soft and shiny and isn't weighed down. ** EDIT** I have knocked down my rating from 5 to 2. Sadly the last few times I have used this sparingly my hair is VERY greasy by the end of the day. It does what it says and makes my hair shiny with some hold but be prepared to have to wash your hair after each use.
