Liquid -Chanel - Le Blanc De Chanel Sheer Illuminating Base
missghie 11/27/2010 2:10:00 AM
I bought this to use as primer/illuminator to replace my favorte chanel product ever (I can't remember its name, but it was a white cream that came in a tub, similar to the Bronze Universel, that I also love), which was discontinued. Why do they do that to my favorite stuff and then replace them with something that's not as good?!? I don't feel that Le Blanc gives me the priming coverage that its predecessor did, and I don't like it's runny consistency nearly as well. I feel like it's not a good value, as it just pours out of and depletes the bottle compared to my old cream in a tub, which lasted forever. Until I find something that's truly comparable to that, I'll just stick with a regular primer, and not something that costs $50. This stuff does brighten up my face and even my complexion a bit, and it looks nice, but really, it's nothing to write home about.

Liquid -Bobbi Brown - Skin Foundation SPF 15
missghie 11/27/2010 1:57:00 AM
I'm fairly new to wearing foundation, but as I've gotten older I've wanted a little more coverage than tinted moisturizers provides, but I don't like heavy foundation that I can feel on my face. BB Skin Foundation is a pretty happy medium--it feels light and soft, doesn't make my combo skin oily, and really helps even out my complexion (freckles, sun-damage) without it looking like I'm trying paint over the bad stuff--you can still tell I have freckles, thank you. It's easy to apply and blend in evenly (I just use my fingers), and a little bit goes a long way, so that's a plus. It's not my HG (a Chanel foundation that's been discontinued), but it's pretty close. Also, I am married to BB's under eye corrector and concealer, and the Skin Foundation goes perfectly with those.

Highlighters -BeneFit Cosmetics - Moon Beam
missghie 11/27/2010 1:44:00 AM
I am an avid fan of Benefit products of many many years. I have no serious complaints about this product, but I don't know how or why the girl behind the benefit counter convinced me to purchase it when I already have High Beam. I LOVE High Beam. This, not as much, it's just not the look I usually go for, though it is very subtle, and I like subtle. Maybe I bought this shade because it was the summertime. Or maybe I was just having so much darn fun with the girls at the Benefit store, that even the most frivolous (especially the most frivioulous) purchase seemed like a great idea.

Mascara -Bobbi Brown - No Smudge Mascara
missghie 11/27/2010 1:19:00 AM
This is THE BEST smudge and flake and clump free mascara I've ever used, my HG, my search is over. I wish the Maybelline pink and green tube, which I've been faithful to for so many years, was as good as Bobbi's, it certainly would be easier on my pocket book, but it's not. I've never used any mascara that hasn't failed me and left big smudges under my eyes--ALL of them end up on my face and not on my lashes. But not this one. I have nothing but praise for the workability, reliability, comfort, and effect of this awesome mascara! I still like to use Diorshow for nights when I get dressed uip and go out, but for everyday, Bobbi Brown No Smudge is it.

Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Powderflage
missghie 11/27/2010 1:09:00 AM
I have hereditary dark circles under my eyes, so I need all the camoflage I can get! I use this over bobby brown corrector in bisque and concealer in warm beige, and the combo seems to do the trick, at least it looks and performs a lot better than anything else I've tried in covering up those dark circles. It brightens up that area without giving me an artificial "just back from the ski slopes" look. There are probably products out there that do same thing, they may even be better, but for now, I'm betting on Benefit--I've pretty much always had good luck with thier products. It's lasting a long time, so no need to repurchase anything any time soon--I may be convinced to try something else out when i do, who knows. And while some others complain about the packaging, I actually kinda like having the little tube to keep both the brush and powder together.

Bronzers -Chanel - Bronze Universel De Chanel Sun Illuminator
missghie 11/27/2010 12:53:00 AM
This is the ONLY bronzer I've used that I ever cared for at all. Actually, I LOVE this bronzer. Before it, I never wore bronzer because the ones I tried were too heavy, orange, streaky, dirty, unnatural looking, etc. But Chanel's is perfect! It's easy to apply with just my finger tips, getting the right amount (which is small) is easy to do, and it blends with little effort. I get compliments on how healthy and tan I look all the time. Plus, even though it's pricey, one tub has lasted me well over a year, which definitely makes it worth the price tag. I just hope they don't discontue it like they have some of my other fave Chanel products.

Masks -Origins - A Perfect World Nighttime antioxidant mask with White Tea [DISCONTINUED]
missghie 6/4/2007 7:30:00 PM
This is my HG nighttime moisturizer! Like other positive reviewers have said, it does feel a bit heavy and greasy when you first put it on, but after massaging it in and letting it settle, the greasiness goes away and I'm left with soft, dewy feeling skin. It feels soothing and nourishing, and I like the smell, too! Downside is the tub packaging, could be more hygenic. It's pricey, but a little goes a long way.

Tinted Moisturizer -Laura Mercier - Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20
missghie 1/12/2006 4:16:00 PM
I've tried pretty much all of the TMs out there, and this is by far the best! Great coverage, light, matches my skin tone--and it comes in enough great shades that I can always find one to match, no matter what time of year or how tan/pale I am. I've been using this for over a year now and will never even try another brand!

Treatments -Zia - Fresh Papaya Enzyme Peel
missghie 1/11/2006 3:41:00 AM
This is a staple in my skin care routine, excellent product. The papaya enzymes are natural and gentle, but really do a good job exfoliating my skin, making it feel clean and and soft and renewed. I use it 3 or 4 nights a week. And it lasts a long time--one bottle lasted about 6 months! So it's totally worth the cost. I even used it when I had an outbreak of ringworm on my face from my cat, and I believe it helped clear up some of the flaky skin from that.

Loose Powders -BeneFit Cosmetics - Bluff Dust
missghie 1/11/2006 2:19:00 AM
This stuff really does reduce some of my uneven skin tone and redness, and it goes on very transclucently and light, does a good job setting my foundation and blush. I'm on my second or third one and will definitely repurchase.

Highlighters -BeneFit Cosmetics - Hollywood Glo [DISCONTINUED]
missghie 1/11/2006 2:12:00 AM
This is a great highlighter, very subtle, really does give my skin a nice glow. Sometimes I mix just a small dab in with regular tinted moisturizer and the effect is wonderful--it doesn't shimmer the way you'd think, but it really does just give my skin a nice boost of radiance. I also give the tops of my cheekbones a little dab when I'm finished with powder and Dr. Feelgood, so that my face won't be quite so matte and my cheekbones are emphasized a bit, it seems to bring out my blush a little.

I wanted to like this product, I love Benefit, and have always had a problem with smudging mascara and disappearing eye makeup. But this stuff was just messy and hard to use. Much better to just find a good mascara.

Primer/ Corrector -BeneFit Cosmetics - Dr Feelgood
missghie 1/11/2006 1:56:00 AM
This is one part of my makeup routine that I can't do without. Have repurchased several times. I'm in my mid-30s, starting to show my age, some sun damage, lines, large pores. I put this on over tinted moisterizer and powder and it just makes my face look and feel as smooth and lovely as can be--doesn't feel too heavy, doesn't give me breakouts, and really does seem to fill in some of my fine lines, etc. It's almost like a nice, soft airbrush effect, but never looks or feels overdone. I put a little Hollywood Glo on the tops of my cheeks and the look is, I feel, fresh, natural, and a little glamorous at the same time. I love Dr. Feelgood!
