This is Ok but does have a sparkly finish. I will not repurchase because it is going to be discontinued. If you like it, stock up now.
The MAC makeup artist suggested this for me. For reference, I am NC15. Even though I'm fair, I like lipstick with color. She suggested two options For Keeps and a shade with more color but I don't know what it was called. She pushed me toward the lighter For Keeps shade and in the store I liked it however when I used it several times I found it to be too light a shade for me, washing me out. Also, it's uncomfortable feeling on the lips, very drying even with the gloss top coat. I'm not a gloss person anway so that feeling along with the dryness and the color being too light I ended up returning it and I don't think I would ever try this type of lipstick again. I do like MAC's Pro Longwear Lipcreme much better.
I tried this mascara because of the hype and returned it because it made my eyes burn, not to mention the fact that it did absolutely nothing to lengthen or build-up my lashes. I ended up with dark circles under my eyes too. It deserves a low rating. If you like it, great. If you haven't tried it, don't bother.
Not happy with this because the shade was all wrong (Warm Sand), the finish is below average and the coverage is nonexistent. I exchanged the shade for the next lighter one and still couldn't make it work. BIG disappointment. I returned it and glad I did.
Liquid -Bobbi Brown - Luminous Moisturizing Foundation
missalfie 5/5/2010 8:44:00 PM
I've used Prescriptives foundation for several years and the entire line was discontinued by EL. I've also used Clinique Dewy Smooth and unfortunately EL has discontinued the fair shade I loved and probably will discontinue the DS formula as well. So, at the suggestion of EL I tried Bobbi Brown Luminous Moisturizing. I'm very disappointed with it and I wish I had tried a sample instead of purchasing. I have dry skin and it's just Ok for that. I need good coverage and Luminous does not deliver. The shade match was just so-so. Also, I don't understand why BB adds a fragrance to this. Even if people like her foundation, they do not like the fragrance either. Lately I have stocked up on Prescriptives foundation online and probably have enough to last me at least a year, maybe two. I'll worry about finding something else later but I definitely won't buy this again.
Liquid -Paula's Choice - Best Face Forward Foundation SPF 25
missalfie 3/7/2010 1:22:00 PM
This is the worst foundation I have ever purchased. It separates, even after shaking it thoroughly, is impossible to apply, blend. Sent it back. It's strange that the Cosmetics Cop puts her name on such an inferior product and then expects to maintain her credibility. Definitely gets a frown-face poor rating :(
Liquid -Clinique - Repairwear foundation [DISCONTINUED]
missalfie 12/23/2009 4:06:00 PM
Clinique claims this foundation is for very dry to dry skin, is de-aging (I'm not sure what that means), and provides "all-day hydration." It is full coverage and I suppose long wearing but I couldn't wait to wash it off. For me, it is very drying, irritating and definitely not hydrating. Made my skin feel itchy and scratchy. Too bad because the shade I chose was a pretty good match for me. I'm so disappointed because the master minds at Clinique have discontinued Dewy Smooth in Cream which was an excellent formula and shade match for me and that's why I tried the Repairwear. I was also using Prescriptives however the geniuses at EL have discontinued that line entirely even though Px has some of the best foundations in the industry and their skin care has some outstanding products. I don't recommend Repairwear if you are looking for a moisturizing, medium to full coverage foundation in a neutral-fair shade.
Eye Makeup Remover -Clinique - Take The Day Off Eye Makeup Remover
missalfie 11/20/2009 6:14:00 PM
I use this makeup remover basically because I haven't found anything that is much better. It is effective yet gentle and doesn't sting eyes. It will take off all the makeup on your face. It is expensive. It's one of the very few products I like that Clinique makes. I didn't understand before why so many reviewers on MUA were so negative about Clinique but now I do. Clinique has made me throw product loyalty out the window. They have discontinued almost every product I ever liked. Wonder when they will discontinue this one.
Liquid -Clinique - Superfit Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
missalfie 1/18/2009 1:31:00 PM
Use caution wieh considering this foundation. I agree with many of the reviewers here that there are no shade selections for fair or very fair skin tone. I used Superfit makeup for several years in Neutral, however eventually it was too dark for me. The SA's tried to match my skintone to Petal, Creamwhip and Shell and none of these shades worked for me. I switched to Dewy Smooth and like it very much. When the New Superfit was introduced I thought maybe they will have some choices for fair skintones; if anything the shade selection is worse than before. I won't re-purchase and won't try Superfit in the future. UPDATE: Clinique has discontinued the fair shades in Dewy Smooth and so I have discontinued Clinique. I only wish I had made this decision long ago and saved myself a lot of aggravation.
Powder -Sheer Cover - Sheer Cover - Mineral Foundation
missalfie 11/8/2008 6:14:00 PM
If ever there was a product that someone should look to MakeupAlley before buying it's this one. Save your money and your time: Sheer Cover is terrible. My daughter is my most honest critic and I value her opinion. After I applied Sheer Cover, she looked at me and said, What happened to your face?! Talk about a line of demarcation! It emphasized my pores like you would not believe. Half of it slid off my face by the end of the day. I only wish I had done more research before I bought this through the informercial. If I can save just one person from the lure of their advertising I will feel like I accomplished something. Anyway, I've had it with mineral makeup. Will definitely never repurchase.
Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals in 1.2, fairly light
missalfie 11/8/2008 5:53:00 PM
I finally found something worse than liquid foundation: this stuff. I bought into the advertising and thought, Well it must be wonderful, right? Wrong. Bare minerals does not deliver the promised results. Instead it's dry, irritating, cakey and uneven. All that dipping, tapping, swirling; please! And oh yeah, it's messy too. After trying this, for me anyway, liquid, cream and stick foundation never looked so good. Will not repurchase.
This is a great cleanser; it's mild and gentle yet very effective. Other cleansers I've tried can be irritating but I have never had a problem with Purpose. It's reasonably priced. The only thing I don't like about it is because it has a pump it is not the best for traveling; I put some in a small plastic bottle and take it with me. I've used it for several years and will continue to repurchase.
I saw these at the MAC counter at Macy's. The SA's use them for everything so I decided to try them. They are only so-so at best for taking off makeup at the end of the day. I don't like the scent, they leave an oily residue, I usually use at least two wipes to get most of the makeup off. They're quite expensive. Will not repurchase.
Lipstick -Clinique - Long Last Lipstick Soft Matte finish in Pink Chocolate
missalfie 11/8/2008 2:34:00 PM
This is my favorite lipstick. I do try others from time to time but Clinique Pink Chocolate is the best. The shade goes with everything, even though it's matte it has a nice creamy feeling, and it doesn't wear off immediately like so many others, for example Prescriptives Colorscope and MAC lustre formulas. I'll continue to re-purcase. Thank you Clinique for keeping it around for so many years.
I tried this foundation a couple of months ago at the suggestion of the Clinique SA. I was very disappointed. It is too thin and runny and so after a couple of hours seems to disappear. I have redness so I need more coverage than this makeup can provide. Clinique's return policy is excellent and I did return Superbalanced and exchanged it for Dewy Smooth and I'm very satified with it. I won't buy Superbalanced again; it just didn't work for me. UPDATE: The fair shades of Dewy Smooth have been discontinued so needsless to say I have discontinued Clinique. Clinique does not listen to its once-loyal customers. Makes me wonder why they bother to ask for our opinion. If you have fair complexion, don't bother with Clinique foundation and save yourself the frustration. Thank you MUA for giving us a forum.
