Lipstick -NARS - Cruising
rated 4 of 5

I passed this by several times. I gave up on nude l/s years ago. Every single one I tried was too mauve, too orange, too gray, too frosty, too something. My lips have almost no pigment. Cruising makes them just barely pinker. This is my perfect everyday lipstick. It's not milky or frosty. It never dries my lips. It's not greasy. It lasts a few hours and since it is so subtle, it does not look obviously missing when partially worn off. I love this one.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Just So

Really nice! I'm really surprised. This wears well -- I put it on, blotted, ate french toast and still had l/s on! Not OTT, but definitely pink. I may actually swap my Dolce Vita. UPDATE: DV is not going anywhere, and this one did go in the trash. Milky and drying. Nars lipsticks are just superior in every way.

Powder -Unlisted Brand - J.Lynne Mineral Foundation
rated 5 of 5
minnielouse 2/10/2005 2:53:00 PM

J.Lynne comes in the same wide range of shades as Aromaleigh. But the price is lower, and the quality, IMO, higher. I was able to find a perfect match, and that is the most important thing in a foundation! Foundations -- ALL foundations -- pool on my face. Literally within 15 minutes or so, you can see tiny spots of pigments. Liquid -- and I use high-end like Prescriptives, mineral -- I've tried Aromaleigh and BE, and powder -- Stila IPF, Palladio wet/dry. I'm only naming a few, I've tried dozens. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING pools on my face. Light hand, heavy hand, mixed with oil absorbing powders, mixed with sunblock, mixed with moisturizer. I usually just don't even bother trying to wear foundation because it looks worse than what I'm trying to hide (a bit of melasma and some ruddiness). So I absolutely expected the same of J.Lynne. But it's not pooling on my face. This is pretty miraculous for me. I really did not expect this. And I'm not just saying it to be nice. This stuff wears *very* well, and *nothing* wears well on me. I have so much trouble with foundation that I'm tempted to use UD Primer Potion all over my face!

Blush -Prescriptives - Mystick Swivel
rated 5 of 5
minnielouse 1/20/2005 7:09:00 PM

I received this in a swap. I took it out of the package and tried some on my lips. OK, this is WAY too dry to be lipstick, LOL. I decided that it must be cream blush. I went to p'ville to look it up and I'm happy to see that I was right. I really like it! I have it in "Swift." Beautiful, subtle peach. This may tide me over until I get "Georgia." It really melts into your cheeks and just gives a great, not too sparkly glow. Very nice product.

Liquid -Revlon - Skinlights Diffusing Tint [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
minnielouse 1/13/2005 11:38:00 AM

Received in swap, and it's going right back up for swap. I like it, really I do. But it is pink. The previous reviewer who said it would look ridiculous with a yellow complexion is right. It would have been great if it just wasn't pink.

Liquid -Prescriptives - Virtual Skin
rated 5 of 5
minnielouse 1/11/2005 10:22:00 AM

Great color match. Not the longest lasting foundation I've used, but it looks like skin and matches my skin. I used to get custom blends years ago. Why did I ever stray from Px? Everything else looks like chalk or housepaint in comparison. I'm still searching, though, because I'd like something that lasts a bit longer.

Lip Gloss -Urban Decay - Wallflower Lip Gunk
rated 5 of 5
minnielouse 1/11/2005 10:17:00 AM

This is not going to replace my HG, Paranoid. But it's a REALLY GREAT lip gloss. Nice consistency, not too sticky, not too thick or thin. The color looks great used with a light hand. The flavor -- I just don't know. I expected a better flavor. Some minutes I like it, some minutes I am indifferent. Still, I reach for this one VERY OFTEN. Looks nice with Dandelion.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Puck eye shadow [DISCONTINUED]

Really nice everyday color. It is a cool taupe. I'm using it for crease color. I am more interested in warm colors, so I am not wearing this one much (but I am wearing it today). This color is one of those nice Stila colors that would look good on anyone. I usually pair it with Starlight or Champagne.

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Dandelion

RIS. I don't like the look of blush, but I love Dandelion buffed onto my cheeks with a giant powder brush. Nice, not overdone flush. Really makes me look like I'm awake, even though I'm usually not.

Mascara -Clinique - Naturally Glossy Mascara
rated 5 of 5
minnielouse 1/10/2005 4:15:00 PM

My favorite mascara for TWENTY years. It isn't as cheap as drugstore mascara, but it isn't as expensive as my HG, Shu Uemura. I don't like clumps and don't need an thickening, just some color on the tips of my lashes. This one doesn't smear, lasts all day, looks shiny, like real black glossy eyelashes, and comes off super easily. I bought UD Skyscraper a few years ago, and that led to d/s mascara. What was I thinking? Clinique Naturally Glossy and Shu Uemura Basic are the ONLY mascaras you'll ever need.

Eye Shadow -Milani - Garden Mist
rated 4 of 5
minnielouse 12/30/2004 12:32:00 AM

Silky and pigmented, same great quality as other Milani shadows. But I hate this color on me. Still giving it 4 lips because it's great shadow. I just hope I can find a use for it. Just doesn't work on my green eyes.

Eye Shadow -Milani - Sheer Sand
rated 5 of 5
minnielouse 12/30/2004 12:29:00 AM

*Almost* a dead ringer for Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy, but with microglitter instead of chunky, and it is ever so slightly more gold. I don't have Midnight Cowgirl or Midnight Cowboy Rides Again, but I'll bet that it *is* a dead ringer for one of those, but with microglitter. I just LOVE it. It *is* a different texture than other Milani shadows, but I love the taupey, glittery effect. Nice "date" e/s with just black eyeliner. And only $3. A winner in my book.

Eye Shadow -Milani - Illusion [03]
rated 5 of 5
minnielouse 12/30/2004 12:22:00 AM

This is not the same color as Urban Decay X. It's much better, in my opinion. X looks like a darker rose with gold in the pot, but when I put it on my eyelid, all I can see is gold. Illusion looks like a lighter pink when you hold it next to X. But on my lids, Illusion is pink with stunning gold iridescence. I don't much care for pink OR gold eye shadows. But Illusion is my 2nd favorite e/s (after Stila Kitten). It gives me a beautiful "candlelit" glow all day. THREE DOLLARS. Silky, and *much* longer lasting than Urban Decay. Buy this one. You probably need it.

Eye Shadow -Milani - Java Bean (18)
rated 5 of 5
minnielouse 12/30/2004 12:18:00 AM

Soooo close to Stila Barefoot Contessa. Not *quite* a dead ringer, but very close. Illusion and Java Bean together are SUCH a beautiful combination. I look "candlelit" all day. I use the lightest shade from the Stila Summer Bronzes palette to highlight this combination. I can't believe this e/s is THREE BUCKS.

Eye Shadow -Milani - Antique Gold #17
rated 5 of 5
minnielouse 12/30/2004 12:15:00 AM

OK, I was going to swap this one -- I received it in a swap. I just didn't like it on my green eyes, it washed them out. Then I tried it with Sun Goddess. OK, now I love it! What a great combination! THREE BUCKS! Silky, pigmented, better than my Urban Decay. Love it.
