Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Hada Labo TAMAGOHADA Daily Foaming Wash
rated 4 of 5
mings1911 5/16/2013 4:20:00 AM

I love this cleanser!! I bought the whole Hada Labo set after trying out some samples of the "lotion" and loving the effects of it. I love that its a foam because its so so easy to wash your face. Just pump out some foam, massage into your face, wash off and you're done! Simple and effective. When I first bought this cleanser, I thought it would only last for a short time because its such a small bottle. But I've been using it for about 3-4 months now and there's still about 1/3 left (as far as I can guess from the weight). Since I've started using the Hada Labo routine, I think my pores have become smaller and my face looks much more supple. The hada labo set is great for its price and really does what it claims. Some reviewers said they found this cleanser drying. Personally I do feel that my skin is a little 'stripped' after cleansing but I never feel the uncomfortable tightness that comes with your skin being too dry. Also, I ALWAYS use the hada labo "lotion" (toner) and moisturizer after using this and I haven't faced any dry skin problems (I have combo skin for reference). Will definitely repurchase and keep using all things hada labo :D

Toners -Unlisted Brand - Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid

mings1911 5/16/2013 4:02:00 AM

This is part of my current HG face routine! I tried some samples of this and was so pleased with the results that I got the whole hada labo set. I like that this seems to make my pores smaller (or at least appear smaller) and it feels very hydrating on my face. I have no acne and seldom get break outs and this made my face seem "clearer" if that makes any sense. It also makes my face more supple. The price is great for this product, since it does what it claims and is still affordable. When I first started using it, it took FOREVER to set into my face. But after a few months, it sets into my face much faster now. The trick is to use less (obviously) - about 3 drops is enough - and pat it into your face and keep patting until its mostly absorbed. It also helps if you put this on as soon as you can after cleansing (so your pores are still open). Love it!! Don't think I will ever stop using this brand, will definitely repurchase.

Pressed Powders -Bourjois - Healthy Balance Unifying Powder
rated 3 of 5
mings1911 4/25/2013 11:49:00 PM

Overall, an okay powder but not one that I would repurchase especially given that it is pricier than most drugstore foundations. Product: I use this above primer as a powder foundation. I apply it with a powder brush (Elf flat top foundation brush) and it goes on well. The powder is quite fine so it doesn't look cakey at all. Staying power: It definitely does not last the whole day or even 10 hours and it streaks a little as its fading. For reference, I have normal combo skin and I only apply this on my cheeks and temples. I tend to touch my face alot so that could be why it fades quite quickly although I've never had this problem with other foundations. Shades:I love that the foundations shades have some yellow undertones so the colour matches my skintone really well. I'm a tan Asian so its not easy to find a good match for foundations. Packaging: The packaging is sleek and easy to carry around. However, because it does not come with a sponge, you'll have to carry a brush along as well. Also the packaging is really sturdy. I dropped mine this morning from about chest height and both the powder and the packaging is fine. I would repurchase this if I ran out of my HG (Milani Multitasker) and needed a quick backup. But as a product itself, the product does not justify the price.

BB Cream -Etude - Etude House Precious Mineral All Day Strong BB Cream
rated 4 of 5
mings1911 4/8/2013 11:49:00 PM

I got this BB cream as a gift 2 years ago and I like it. I dont use it often and its not a HG for me but I like it enough that I'll repurchase it. Product: I'm tan and the BB cream shades are all fair. As it was a gift, I didn't get to choose the shade (I'm not sure if there's only one shade?) and the shade I have is too light for me. The consistency is also really thick and can be hard to apply. The BB cream is also quite shiny which I think is good in helping us look more radiant. But on its own, your whole face can end up looking shiny. To solve these problems, I mix in a darker liquid foundation with a more watery consistency (abt 1 part BB cream and 1 part liquid foundation) and voila, I have a wonderful liquid base for my face! Just shiny enough to look radiant and much more easy to blend into my face. This combination also looks very natural on me after it sets. You have to give the BB cream a few minutes to set into your face and let the colour oxidise so don't panic if the colour looks very odd on you at first. I used this for my sister for her prom without mixing (because she's fairer than me) and at first, the colour looked very unnatural and I panicked. But after abt 10 mins, the colour oxidized to a very natural looking colour on her and she looked so radiant yet you can't see any visible foundation or anything. Staying power: Even without a make up primer, this can stay on for a whole day. It'll fade a little but not in an obvious manner. Also, it doesn't transfer everywhere and make a mess. Packaging: I like the way its packaged because its easy to use and doesn't make a mess. The only thing is that the tip can become abit messy with the BB cream getting onto the side of the tip. Overall, I'd recommend it if you are looking for a good BB cream but if you want to go for a more natural look, I'd recommend you mix this cream with a more watery foundation because this BB cream is of really thick consistency!

Lipstick -Revlon - Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain - Honey
rated 3 of 5
mings1911 4/8/2013 10:18:00 AM

Overall, this product is of good quality but I won't repurchase because I think the colour doesn't suit me. Product: This is my first time trying my balm stain, and with all other Revlon products, I am impressed with this balm stain. The colour lasts for a very long time and doesn't transfer onto glasses or water bottles when you drink water. Even after you drink water, there's still a stain of colour on your lips (not an obvious one, just a flush of colour). Colour: The colour seems to change colour when its on your lips and when you test it on your hands. On my hands, it looks like a mauvey colour. On my lips, it turns into a more pinkish colour which doesnt suit my skin tone as well as the mauvey colour would. I'm tan and the pinkish colour doesn't look that nice on me. I was looking for something MLBB but this is not it! I wish Revlon has a wider range of colour for this product, because the product is really awesome! Would definitely repurchase if there's a more suitable colour for me. Application: I love the stick and crayon-style stain, its easy to apply and doesn't get everywhere. I've read reviews of the lid breaking but mine's still fine so far.

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Glam Eyes Professional Liquid Liner
rated 3 of 5
mings1911 4/1/2013 11:21:00 PM

This is my first liquid eyeliner. I would not repurchase because this liquid eyeliner is just too hard to use. Product: The pigmentation is good and you get a very black line on your lids. However, this eyeliner takes FOREVER to dry on your lids. Thankfully I don't have monolids so I dont have to stand still waiting for it to dry, although I still do for abit just to make sure that it doesn't get everywhere. One reviewer said it takes 30 seconds to dry but I think it takes much longer than that. I stood in front of a fan with my eyes closed for a few minutes and it still hadn't dried totally. Application:The application tip of the brush is very long so I find it really hard to control. I ended up without a very jagged line and had to go over it with my pencil to even out the jags. The tip is very fine so I can see why people like it. But if you have shaky hands like me, make sure your pencil eyeliner is on standby to clean up the jagged lines. Staying power: Staying power is good because I used my HG eye primer (etude house proof 10, really the best out there) under it. I don't know how the staying power will be without it! I might try this again if I can't find a liquid eyeliner that is easier to use but I wouldn't recommend this eyeliner to liquid newbies like me! I will update again if my skills get better with this and I find it easier to use. UPDATE: my skills with liquid eyeliner are better now so the liner is starting to look better and better. i really like how dark the black is but its really frustrating how long it takes to dry. for the girls complaining about smudging out there: there's no way any make up is going to stay on your eyes if your lids get oily (which they will) so I recommend purchasing a very good eye primer so your eye make up stays in place all day. i use etude house proof 10 eye primer and i've never had to worry about my eye make up smudging since then. highly recommend!

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Kate Moss 08
rated 3 of 5
mings1911 4/1/2013 11:06:00 PM

Overall, this lipstick is good but not the best I've ever tried. I still prefer Revlon over this. Colour: I ordered this online so was apprehensive about the colour. I checked the colour swatches online but the colour of the lipstick looked nothing like the colour swatches. The lipstick is a mauvey yet pinky colour so it looks like a pinky version of MLBB, which is not the look I was going for. The swatches looked more natural MLBB. I'm quite tan so the pinky colour doesn't look very natural or flattering on me. I don't recommend this colour to tan people!! Product: The lipstick itself is soft and the colour goes on easily. However, there isn't much staying power and the lipstick disappears quite easily even without eating/drinking. The lipstick also has a really weird smell which I don't really like, but thankfully it disappears quite quickly upon application. Packaging: The packaging is exactly as it looks in the picture. The packaging does not feel plasticky or flimsy so I think it'll hold up well in any make up bag. On the downside, it doesn't feel particularly luxurious either and its just a very normal lipstick case. I wouldn't buy this again because I think the Revlon lipsticks which I usually use are much better. Although this is cheaper, the Revlon ones are definitely worth the higher price.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Colorburst Rose Pearl
rated 5 of 5
mings1911 3/26/2013 5:26:00 AM

This is a great lip gloss! I'm not a big fan of lip gloss in general (too sticky and gets everywhere) but I would repurchase this just for the pretty colour. Product: The gloss comes in a slim transparent tube. I can't tell if the tube is made of plastic or glass or a combination because it feels very firm (like its not going to shatter in your handbag) but it doesn't feel heavy at all. It's the lipgloss I carry around in my bag now. The gloss itself is abit sticky and it is very annoying for your hair to stick to your lips on windy days. Sometimes I catch myself trying not to curl my lips when I talk to avoid the colour getting onto my teeth. Its never happened to me before but I think this problem will go away if you just apply less gloss. Colour:I really really love the colour of this gloss. Its not exactly a MLBB shade but its a very pretty pinkish-red shade. I'm quite tan but love pinkish shades of lipstick/gloss and pinkish shades can look very odd on tan people. So I'm always on the lookout for pinkish shades which suit tan people and I am so happy to say that I've found one really awesome one. The gloss comes on shimmery but I think the shimmer is just nice for a lip gloss and not overly shimmery. Overall, your lips look really naturally pretty. You do look like you're wearing some sort of gloss on your lips but the look remains very natural. Application: The application stick is a handy little two-sided thing that looks like a paddle. Its very useful because you have enough gloss on it when you remove it from the tube so you dont have to keep sticking it back into the tube to get more gloss. Overall: Would DEFINITELY repurchase, I love this colour so much!

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lipstick in Rosy Nude
rated 4 of 5
mings1911 3/26/2013 5:15:00 AM

Revlon lipsticks are worth every cent despite the rather high price for a drugstore lipstick. I first fell in love with the ColourStay lipstick in Blush, which is a perfect MLBB for me. I decided to try Rosy Nude when I was looking for a deeper colour. Product: The lipstick goes on creamy and is quite pigmented. It manages to stay on your lips for awhile, even through drinking water and eating. Of course I don't mean that it looks the same as when you first applied it, I mean that there will still be colour on your lips even if the colour has faded a little. Colour: Personally, I prefer Blush because I think its more MLBB for me than Rosy Nude. But that said, lipstick colour is very personal. If you're looking for something more pinkish/nude, go for Blush. If you're looking for something of a deeper colour, go for Rosy Nude. Overall: I would definitely repurchase Revlon lipsticks again (and forever!), but I would probably not purchase this shade again.

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Studio Powder Brush
rated 5 of 5
mings1911 3/26/2013 5:07:00 AM

This is a brush that truly deserves all the great reviews its getting!! I bought this brush after reading the reviews here and its lived up to every claim. Product: Its awesomely soft and the bristles are densely packed enough for you to use this brush for foundation. I've been using this brush for my powder foundation for about 2 months now and I haven't had any problems with bristles dropping out or anything. I clean my brush with some shampoo and am careful to make sure that the water doesn't get into the brush handle. Application: This brush is so soft that it made my blush brush (which I felt was the softest brush ever) feel rough against my face! I was so amazed. Effect: It made my powder foundation look flawless on my face and much more polished than other brushes. I haven't tried this brush with liquid foundation yet but I can say that for powder foundation, the finer the powder the more flawless your face looks, and this brush goes a long way in picking up all the fine powder and making it look flawless on your face. Overall: Great brush, and for the awesome price, definitely worth repurchasing. In fact, I loved it so much after 1 week that I went back to repurchase a spare in case my brush gives way.

Eyeliner -Unlisted Brand - Clio professional gelpresso waterproof pencil gel liner
rated 4 of 5
mings1911 3/26/2013 12:35:00 AM

I bought the Beige and Purple ones after trying them in the store. I was impressed in the store because they stayed on my hand even after rubbing and the colours were so pretty. Colours: The colours were really pretty. Beige produced a light shimmer on my eyelids and was useful for the inner lids for making your eyes look bigger. Purple was awesome. It was the first time I've bought a purple eyeliner. It looks black with purple shimmer, which is so lovely! Application: Application is easy because they are in pencil form and the colours come on quite easily. However, the Beige one sometimes flakes a little when I use it on my eye after eye primer. I'm not sure if its because of the eye primer or if its just this way. Staying power: Unfortunately the staying power is not that great. Even with eye primer on, the colours come off quite easily and smudge onto my lower lid sometimes. Overall: I would definitely recommend it because of how nice it looks, just use a good eye primer and bring some small wipes to clean your undereye if it smudges.

Misc Beauty Tools -Japonesque - Power Curl Eyelash Curler
rated 4 of 5
mings1911 3/4/2013 2:17:00 AM

I am so thrilled to finally get my hands on this eyelash curler! I've never been big on curling my lashes, usually I only apply some mascara just to make them longer and thicker. But after trying out this eyelash curler, I'm never using mascara without this curler again! This curler manages to pick up almost all my lashes at one time - which is a first for me! I think it has to do with the shape of the curler which is 'flatter' and so fits Asian eyes (which are not as deepset) better. The curl was a little too 90 degrees for some lashes but after mascara, I got the effect I wanted: curled lashes that really opened my eyes up. I was amazed at how the curl holds up even without heat - it can last easily the whole day with just mascara. For reference, I'm using majorlica mascara (which is literally the best mascara ever!). Haven't tried the Shu eyelash curler so I will update if I ever do.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - BareMinerals foundation #2.3 Medium Beige
rated 1 of 5
mings1911 2/15/2013 2:35:00 AM

This is a HORRIBLE product, avoid Bare Minerals at ALL COSTS!! Got this for myself on a splurge (this is Expensive with a capital E) and am regretting it terribly. When I first used it, I loved the effect the powder gave. It was really powder-cream as the write-up promised. And the blush that the starter kit came with gave my face nice definition. But after using it twice, I noticed that my skin began to itch slightly. The itch got so bad on my fourth wear that I felt like I had to scratch my entire face off. It was so unbearable that I popped into the first drugstore I saw, bought a pack of make-up remover wipes and wiped the whole thing off before I put my nails to my face. Never used it since. I discovered later that some of my friends had the same problem using this and she put it down to perspiration. She said that when she used it and did not perspire, her face did not itch.My research online said that the itch was due to bismuth oxychloride in the product. This is DEFINITELY NOT a pure-minerals product. I would give this a minus rating on MUA but unfortunately MUA does not allow that so I had to give it a 1. DO NOT BUY!!!

Eye Shadow -Revlon - CustomEyes Shadow & Liner in Naturally Glamorous
rated 5 of 5
mings1911 2/13/2013 10:32:00 PM

Been using this almost daily for a few weeks now! That's how much I love this palette. This palette of colours can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion you're using it for. Just use the darker, richer colours for more formal occasions and the lighter colours for informal stuff. I love that it comes with black as well because I use it to line my lids after the eyeshadow and it works just as well as eyeliner, with no smudging onto the lower lids! For people who complain that the Revlon eyeshadows are unpigmented, here's a trick for you: wet your eyeshadow brush with water before applying eyeshadow. not so much that its soaking wet but just a little to make it damp. this really makes your eyeshadow colour pop and last much longer. Its best if you use an eye primer as well if you want the colours to stay well throughout the day. Application-wise, I usually use an eyeshadow brush but I had to use the little sponges once when I was out and it went on fine as well. Not as precise as with the brush, but I managed to get the effect I wanted. This was a little expensive in SG (but then almost everything is expensive here) but well worth the money. Another great buy from Revlon!

Toners -Unlisted Brand - Rohto Hadalabo Gokujyun Super Hyaluronic Moisture Lotion
rated 4 of 5
mings1911 2/13/2013 3:40:00 AM

Tried some samples of this product, which lasted me almost a month. That's how much a little of this product really is. Anyway, I was so impressed with the effect it had on my skin that I've gone out and bought the whole Hada Labo range - the cleanser, the toner and the moisturizer. When I used the sample of this, I used it with my regular cleanser and I used this as a toner cum moisturizer. The effect it had on my skin was amazing! My skin looked much more plump (in a good way) and radiant. I looked so healthy although I hadn't changed anything in my routine except for this. It also made my pores look much smaller. Can't wait to try out the whole set! Will update again then. UPDATE: so now I have the whole hada labo set and I've been using it for about 1 month. Overall my skin looks plumper (in a good way) and healthier and my pores look smaller. My only gripe with this product is that it remains sticky on your face for awhile, even with you patting it into your face furiously. This means you have to wait abit before you can begin to do your make up or continue with your skin care routine. Its probably the weather (I live in an extremely humid country) and it might absorb faster in dry weather.
