Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation

This is a light to medium buildable coverage foundation. It's really light and has a watery, very runny consistency which combined with the lightness of the coverage going on makes it a little awkward to apply in my opinion. I've not yet gotten the hang of applying the right amount. It does blend in really well, but I always end up feeling like I've used too much whether I've used a foundation brush, sponge, fingers, kabuki brush, whatever... there's a fine balance with this foundation between too little and too much and it's really too much trouble to find it. Also the runny consistency makes it a little tough to deal with. Color-wise, i got the 178 which was an okay match and faded really well into my skin initially but oxidized a little red on me (I'm about NC50 normally) after a couple of hours. I probably should have gotten the 177 instead. I didn't really like how this came out on my skin, I didn't feel like it improved the appearance at all and I felt it looked a little greasy and red within a couple of hours but then again I didn't use powder to set it so that might help it. I'm going to finish this at some point because it doesn't break me out and it wasn't cheap. It may take a while because it's kind of a pain figuring it out right now and I have loads of other foundations I'm working through but this one's not so bad I won't eventually get through it. I probably won't buy it again though.
Blush -Make Up For Ever - Sculpting Blush 22 - Iridescent Orange Coral

This is an excellent blush, It's peachy and orange and absolutely gorgeous and I can see it being absolutely beautiful on any skin tone from fair to dark. It's pigmented enough that you don't need several layers to show up even on dark skin, but it's not so pigmented that one swipe leaves you looking clownish. It has a bit of sparkle in it but just a little, you certainly won't have glitter face with this blush, but it leaves you with a nice glow. It's also pretty long-lasting and lovely.Personally, I wear this after my powder and it lasts all day. The packaging has been a bit of a bust for me. Now, in fairness, a lot of that has been my fault because I've dropped it a couple of times but the packaging falls apart really easily. The magnetized opening system is really not the best. Then I dropped the case once and it broke, then yesterday, I dropped it again and it shattered the case shattered in half. The blush in the pan itself IS pretty hardy though. All these falls and it has broken or cracked and has remained intact. Moreover, it's lasted a fair bit. I've worn it almost everyday for the past 10 or so months an I've barely made a dent in it, which is great in terms of value for money but sucks in terms of the fact that I've smashed the case up and still have more or less a full pan of blush... :( Packaging notwithstanding, this is a WONDERFUL blush and it's pretty much my HG.
Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous Lipstick- Smokey Rose

This isn't a bad lipstick. It has a wonderful texture, it's long-lasting, and is a pretty color and when used sparingly over lip balm. It's also not particularly pricy. My only issue with this and the reason why it gets 4 stars not 5, and also why I may not buy it again is that it comes off a little frosted on my specific skin tone and lips (NC 50). I think it's the pearly, shimmery bits that gives this frosted effect. If this was a little less shimmery, it would be a definite definite HG!
Crème -Smashbox - 'Camera Ready' Full Coverage Foundation

I actually really liked this foundation. It was my first full on, regular wear serious foundation and it never once broke my acne-prone skin out. It provided excellent coverage over my dark acne scars and I was lucky enough that the D1 shade was a good match for my NC45-NC50 skin. The included application brush was pretty useless. I never used it. I Ended up using a kabuki brush to apply and it went on really easily and quickly. It doesn't cause oil issues and stayed pretty matte all day and I didn't have to wear primer or setting powder with it. My downsides with this foundation would be that it oxidized a dark red color by the end of the day, and it finished pretty quickly for the price I paid. It also became super difficult to find and I later learned it was discontinued. It's probably available at exorbitant prices online somewhere but I decided to explore other foundations. I would buy it again at a good price though. The packaging was also not great. I stored it in the carton in my make up bag and the hinges still managed to break off by themselves.
Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter - Candy Apple

This is agreat red lipstick from Revlon. It feels great going on and the red is the perfect true red shade. It's a fun, bright sort of red even on my dark (NC50) skin without looking clownish. It's not the most sophisticated shade but it is fun and young and buildable from light stain-like coverage to va-va-voom full-on starlet red. The staying power in all honesty isn't as great as with the Colorburst Lipsticks and this will need to be reapplied during the day, but it's no problem because it feels so good and luxurious on the lips like a really high quality lip balm. This does mean that you cam go through tubes of this stuff pretty quickly but that's not enough of a low point to stop me from repurchasing this as i constantly do. Everyone I've introduced to it loves the color and the shade. It's a definite staple for me.
I love red lipstick but as a WOC (NC50), I find it difficult to find shades that aren't too implausibly strawberry or pink on my skin tone. THIS is the perfect red. It's not the truest cherry red lipstick in the world but it's got a rich, expensive-looking, sophisticated color and a wonderful, non-drying texture. It also lasts all-day. I end the day with at least a faint stain even if I don't reapply it during the day. This one is a keeper! If only it weren't so darn hard-to-find these days.
Moisturizers -The Body Shop - SPF 15 Daily Moisturizer with Vitamin C

I really wanted to like this product bcos I've been looking for a vitamin C face lotion for a while for my meh-looking skin so when I saw this and it had vit C AND SPF, I was sold. The price is alright, it's a little more expensive than the other more usual Body Shop skin care ranges but it's not that bad. As for the product itself, it's not bad. At first I really liked it, I did feel as though my skin glowed a bit more and felt softer and nicer. But then I realized that after a while it feels like an oily mask on my face, really heavy (which is strange because it actually has a light lotion type feel to it, and doesn't appear like something that would be heavy). It also gave me a massive oil slick in my t-zone, the apples of my cheeks AND on my back and chest (when I rubbed a little excess on my hands there). What I suspect is that my skin does NOT like the sunscreen that's in this face lotion. My dry-combination skin tends to have an iffy relationship with sunscreens in some face creams. Its such a pity because other than that, it's a fantastic product and hasn't broken me out at all. I would keep using it but I've been using soooo much powder and blotter since I got it and it's not worth it. Even if it ddnt have the SPF I probably wouldn't re-buy it because I think for a day moisturizer SPF is really important and I already have a HG non-SPF moisturizer. So I think all in all, if you tend not to have bad reactions to some sunscreens or if you go through loads of powder on a regular basis anyway, this is definitely worth checking out.
