Fragrances -Parfumerie Generale - Coze

I received a sample of this in a swap. It's a delightfully cozy masculine scent. I would love to curl up with the guy wearing this, maybe on a rainy day in front of a warm fire. Coze starts out with warm chocolate and green wet hay. This I’m sure is the cannabis note. It then morphed into a sort of boozy pipe tobacco smell. My father smoked a pipe so I quite enjoy this scent. Some have called this stage “ashtray”. It then morphed again into a fiery warm and cozy incense smell. If I can’t get my man to wear this I may resort to walking around wrist to nose.

Fragrances -Keiko Mecheri - Taormine

No doubt about it, this is a summer scent. Bittersweet, it opens with the scent of fresh citrus then moves to a soft floral with just a little bit of powder brought on by the combination of wood and citrus. At some point I remember thinking “this is yummy” which may have been the bitter almond kicking in. What I did not get from this was the leather chord. I'm looking forward to wearing this more often when the weather begins to warm. Notes: Sicilian petit grain, Calabrian bergamot, Italian citron, bitter almond, aromatic accord, floral notes, leather accord

Fragrances -Jo Malone - Blue Agava and Cacao

My experience with this fragrance just reminded me again that body chemistry and our individual olfactory senses play a big part in our perception of a fragrance. I had heard nothing but good things about this fragrance so I was not expecting the smell of 1960’s Aqua-Net aerosol hair spray from a can and my allergic reaction. I could not smell the cacao at all. I did get a whiff of Ocean Salt and Lime but nothing else. I thought perhaps the bottle had gone bad so I went into Neiman Marcus and tried it there. That time I got cocoa but mostly it was the same experience as before. My DH didn’t get the cacao or hairspray that I got but found it inoffensive. Next!

Palettes -Too Faced - Glamour to Go II Palette
millercat 6/29/2010 2:11:00 AM
The Good: I recently took this palette on a trip with me. Normally I travel with a quart size baggie full of makeup. It was nice to be able to travel lite. The colors look good with my complexion. I especially like the blush. The Bad: The lip gloss is sticky. The eye colors flake off the palette when in use and do not have a lot of pigment. To achieve the level of color I prefer I must apply several layers. For some people this might be a plus. I wish more companies would make complete palettes like this one. It's a great idea, although I probably wouldn't purchase this one again due to lack of pigment and flaky texture.

Lips -Smashbox - Lip Brilliance in LightBox

Lightbox comes with 3 shades; the first is an ecru pearl /champagne color, the second more of a red-brown and the third I would call berry. They are shiny and sleek looking on. Whenever I wear these Lip Brilliance colors I receive complements. Women always want to know where to purchase. I bought Lightbox a few years ago at Sephora and lost it sometime last year. When I tried to purchase it again I found it was discontinued. I finally located one at allcosmeticswholesale.com in their clearance section for $5.49 (originally $28). Needless to say, I was ecstatic!

Fragrances -Annick Goutal - Petite Cherie

When I first put this on it hit me with what I thought was a maple syrupy smell and later a kind of dirty smell. I wondered whether I received a bad sample. Then I read Tania Sanchez's description in Perfumes the A-Z Guide where she describes it as having an "aspect that smells harshly of wet dog to many people". It seems that I am one of those people.

My former officemate wears Becker Eshaya and I LOVED the beautiful floral smell of this scent on her. I tried it on myself and I just couldn't carry it off. My body chemistry just didn't jive with this scent. I am still giving it a rating of 5 just because it smelled so darn good on my friend.
