Lip Gloss -Too Faced - Glamour Gloss Volumizing Lip Gloss with Lip Injection Comfort Plump in Pillow Talk
milenacka 12/29/2010 9:01:00 PM
I really like this lip gloss, and I don't usually go out of my way to review lipglosses. Here's the thing-- there is no lip plumping going on here. But--it feels slightly tingly and tastes minty. I don't find it sticky at all. It's the perfect consistency. And the colour is a sexy nude that looks great on bronzed skin. Basically what I am trying to say is that this is the perfect lipgloss for kissing.

Eyeliner -MAC - Teddy eye kohl
milenacka 12/29/2010 8:57:00 PM
This is my HG liner. OF ALL TIME. I have bought this *many* times over the years. Absolutely nothing comes close to it. I have green/brown eyes, and this shimmery brown-bronze does the best job of bringing out my eye colour without looking too intense (such as black would look). It goes on creamy, excellent pay-off... it lasts all day for me, to an extent-- it ends up blending around my eyes, and it always looks great when i get home, even if it doesn't look exactly the same as when I put it on in the morning. Anyone with green or brown eyes, or that likes to wear bronzey tones MUST try this eyeliner.

Bronzers -Givenchy - Le Prisme Sun Visage - Mat - Soft Compact Face Powder
milenacka 6/25/2010 10:35:00 PM
This face powder is great for those winter and spring months when you can't really wear your favorite NARS bronzer, but you need something other than a blush to brighten up your face. I bought this in Sun Mango, and it gives my cheeks a nice healthy colour, like a slight tan. What i particularly Iike is that you cannot put too much of this on... It goes on very lightly, so you can build up the colour easily. In addition, I love the scent. Usually when I use any sort of powder compact, my interest in the product wanes before or just as i reach the bottom of the pan.. But because of the way this powder is pressed, you get a lot of powder flying everywhere when you swirl a brush on it. this product got used up quickly, and I'm currently seeing four big spots of metal, and I'm still furiously brushing this on everyday! It comes with a brush in the compact which I never use... I would be much indebted to Givenchy for substituting the volume of the brush with more product.

Moisturizers -Dr. Hauschka - Moisturizing Day Cream
milenacka 11/14/2009 11:15:00 PM
I've used this moisturizer for a number of years, off and on. Recently, I've been using it consecutively as my day moisturizer (i.e., it replaces itself, and I don't stray to other brands), because it just performs. This moisturizer goes on light, and makeup application is a dream. I use it all year round, but the hottest part of the summer is the hardest time for it, because it makes my skin quite shiny. But I tend to like a dewy finish, which is what I get at all of the other times of the year. What is really important for me, is that this cream will never break me out, and it will always keep my skin soft. If I want more moisture, I'll just use a bit of another Hauschka cream on top of it, such as the Quince Day Cream. This is also easily worn in combination with my favourite LaRoche Posay sunscreen.

Moisturizers -Neostrata - Total Radiance Night Repair Cream
milenacka 11/14/2009 10:53:00 PM
I like all of Neostrata's glycolic acid creams, and this one is included. I'm almost done with my jar, and I used this at night only. I wake up with beautiful, glowing skin every morning. I get the same results with every Neostrata cream. This cream has gotten rid of any little dry spots, and has made my day moisturizer and makeup application so smooth and easy. My skin tone is also much more even when I use this, and I don't have to use foundation if I don't want to. I might go to a higher glycolic acid concentration after I use this jar up, but I will definitely come back to this cream after that, to give my skin a break.

Cleansers -Vichy - Purete Thermale Cleansing Micellar Lotion for face and eyes
milenacka 11/14/2009 10:35:00 PM
I've been using this product for a number of years now... It is an excellent makeup remover. I use it every night. It leaves my skin soft, smooth, evenly toned and clean. After this, I wash with my Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Milk. Purete Thermale is gentle, looks and feels like water! Nice light scent. I think that any skin type can use this, and it seems easy to incorporate into any skin care regime. Considering I've bought this many many times over, I guess the price is not too bad. I stock up when I go to France, because they sell it cheaper than here in Canada.

Toners -NARS - Balancing Toning Lotion
milenacka 11/14/2009 10:27:00 PM
I bought this toner, because the MA said that it was very good at getting rid of bacteria on your skin that causes random breakouts. The idea appealed to me. So I use this once a day (or every other day), usually at night, before putting on my Neostrata cream. It really does feel very fresh on my skin, like it is getting rid of any impurities that the cleanser left behind. Almost feels like a disinfectant, but in a good way. It doesn't dry me out, and I haven't had any adverse reactions. As someone who does not like toners (Dr. Hauschka's toners are an exception), I like this one. I think it is expensive, so I might not buy it as soon as this bottle runs out, but I can see myself buying this again, just so I have it around, because I like the feeling of very clean skin that it gives me. The bottle is just gorgeous, and the pump dispenser is great.

Masks -NARS - Mud Mask
milenacka 11/14/2009 10:11:00 PM
I use this mask about once or twice a week. My skin is pretty good, so I'm not relying on this for any miracles. My skin feels very smooth, clean and refined after using this. The best thing I like about this mask is how easily it goes on, and how it doesn't harden, something that really bothers me with regular mud masks... It takes a long time to use up, since you only need a little, because it's so easy to spread a thin layer. The texture and colour of this mask makes it feel like this is the way a classic mud mask should be. It's a luxury, and just feels great to put on. It's expensive, but I will buy it again, because it is a joy to use.

Liquid -Chanel - Vitalumiere
milenacka 11/14/2009 9:47:00 PM
I love this foundation. I bought it in Limpide-Nude intensity 0.5, which is quite light. I've used NARS Balanced Foundation in Deauville in the past, and I find that these two shades are a very close match, and they both perfectly match my skin. I can use this foundation in the summer and winter. I have dry-ish skin, and this is has a lovely dewy finish (which I am a big fan of). The colour stays true. This product doesn't dry out over the day, and my skin always feels good with it on. The coverage is sheer/medium... I use it to even out my skin tone in places. It blends beautifully. I highly recommend this foundation, and I will definitely re-purchase. Also, the packaging leaves nothing to be desired, it's perfect.

Highlighters -NARS - The Multiple in Copacabana
milenacka 6/17/2008 11:21:00 PM
I can totally understand why so many reviewers are saying that they use this product every day and just don't feel as fresh looking without it. I've only used one other multiple, and that's South Beach; I liked the colour, but what I liked even more is the dewy effect it would have on my skin that kicks in about 15 minutes after you put it on. And Copacabana has the same formulation--you get the fantastic dewiness, but you're free of any colour constraints! So you can be wearing a beautiful bronzer (NARS Heat!) or glowing blush (Exhibit A!), and layer Copacabana on top and just get the most amazing finish--soft, supple, even, glowing skin, with a very slight shimmer. I'm sorry that it doesn't last on some people. I found it stayed in effect (in various degrees) for a normal work day. Would re-purchase considering that since I've bought it, rarely has a day gone by that I haven't reached for it.

Blush -NARS - Exhibit A
milenacka 7/17/2007 10:01:00 PM
This is a beautiful blush.. for a long time, I didn't even want to look at it, I would cringe at the sight of it. Last fall at the NARS counter I finally rubbed a bit on my hand--and OMG, the colour was unbelievable!!! The most natural red blush--the MA said that Exhibit A was the real Orgasm, and I completely agree. This is my favourite NARS blush. One of a kind. ***** a really fun thing to do with this blush, when you're bored in front of the mirror, is to rub a fair amount onto the palm of your hand, and take some oil (e.g. jojoba) and rub it in as well... and you get the most gorgeous bright red lip colour!! Slick some clear lip gloss on top, and just see what happens! Its great for people (like me) who don't have red lipstick, but like to play around!

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Black Out Mascara
milenacka 5/22/2007 5:44:00 PM
I got this the day BEFORE it was supposed to be released at Holt Renfrew. One of the Dior MAs told me about it, and I kinda went nuts for it, and I was only in Toronto for that day.. so he was nice and sold it to me ahead of time :) Gotta say, that I completely fell for the sheer idea of a blacker than black mascara. I mean, its such a perfect concept, its brilliant. And when I put it on, couldn't immediately tell the difference between it and my old Diorshow... but when I put on my black liquid liner--BlackOut made the liner look dark grey. That is when I could really tell the difference.. Also, I find with blackout, you dont get any shadowy variations of colour throughout your lashes--its just all solid black. I don't have to put eyeliner on my top lid, because BlackOut defines it enough for me, which never happens with another mascara. I love the original Diorshow, and it gives me more volume than this one... But BlackOut gives good length, and doesnt clump at all for me. I think it is a beautiful mascara, and I will continue to purchase both Diorshow and BlackOut.

Concealers -Laura Mercier - Secret Camouflage
milenacka 5/22/2007 5:29:00 PM
The absolute BEST thing about this product, is that you can mix to get the perfect shade of concealer you need for your skin tone for any point in the year. It is a tad dry, so the MA recommended that it doesn't get used around the eyes... but for blemishes, its awesome. I am using my fingers to apply it, but i know the results would be like 10x better if I just bought a concealer brush! This is not as expensive as you may think!! And it lasts forever... so really, its an amazin product in many respects. I used SC-3 on my LM Blush Ivory, LSF 4, Deauville, NC20 skin. EDIT: NEVER use this product around your eyes. I couldn't find my foundation one day when I was in a hurry, so I just dabbed this around my eyes, on moisturized skin. By the end of the day, my mascara had transferred to the skin around my eyes, and I looked like a racoon. This has never happened to me with any other product. This was like a magnet for eye makeup. I was horrified. Will continue to use on my face for localized coverage, but never again around the eyes. *Update June 2010* it has been three years since i wrote my review of this product, I am STILL on the same one. It is maybe 25% used up, and it works as well as the first day i got it. This has been my only concealer for this whole time, and my skin is not perfect--I use this product often. What is there left to say? It has paid for itself many times over.

Liquid -Laura Mercier - Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation
milenacka 5/22/2007 5:23:00 PM
I am very happy with this foundation--it provides medium coverage, and the colour match is perfect. The finish is a bit dry, but I think I could improve on my application method.. I'm using my fingers, and the MA specifically told me to use a sponge.. I don't like using sponges because - 1. I think my fingers do the best blending, and 2. I think that sponges absorb too much product--waste! the MA told me that since this is an oil free foundation, it shouldn't be comprimised by me using my fingers on it. I said "what about the natural oil on my face?" and I can't remember exactly what she said, but I think thats a given, but its is better to apply with a sponge. If anyone has any suggestions or stong arguments for why I should or should not use a sponge, please email me to let me know! I think I will give it a try :)
