Shampoo -Shea Moisture - Shea Moisture Organic Yucca & Baobab Thickening Shampoo
rated 4 of 5

I'm very happy with this shampoo. First of all, I enjoy the thick, cushiony lather and gentle, plant-like smell. The product lasts a long time because you don't have to use a lot of it. It causes much less dryness and flaking than almost any other shampoos I've tried and cleans well (I use a lot of product in my hair). The only two drawbacks for me: 1) if I'm washing my hair, it will need to be a long shower because this shampoo takes forever for me to rinse out completely due to the thick lather, and 2) my hair does get oily a bit sooner when I shampoo with this because it's so moisturizing. But with dry shampoo I can still extend the time between washes, and I appreciate not having a severely dry scalp.

Polishes -China Glaze - Below Deck
rated 5 of 5

A lot of brands have this type of color out right now---it's trendy. But the China Glaze version is so wonderfully creamy and opaque. Feels almost luxurious to apply. You could get by with one coat, but I like two because it wears longer and looks more finished. This lasts well on me for about a week. Great product!

Fragrances -Revlon - Fire & Ice
rated 3 of 5
mich52331 9/14/2012 8:03:00 PM

I would describe this fragrance as "nice but generic." Fire and Ice is a pleasant blast of cherry, vanilla, and musk with a hint of ambery spice. It smells exactly like VS's Amber Romance. Quite sweet. It certainly doesn't offend my nose, it just doesn't smell very womanly or mature (which is what I prefer).

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Kate Moss 12
rated 5 of 5

I LOVE the color---a bright, pinky-orange coral at once bold and feminine. It looks just right with my face and coloring (I have naturally auburn-red hair, light skin and dark brown eyes). You can blot on a thinner layer, mix with a gloss, or apply lightly over a nude lippie for a more subtle look, but I like it full-strength! It's become *almost* my signature, rotated with Revlon's Fire and Ice.

Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Petites - Passion Orange
rated 4 of 5
mich52331 4/28/2012 6:38:00 PM

I like this so much! Petites uses a shorter brush that makes it easier to apply the polish neatly. The color is a lovely hot coral. I only wish the color saturation were better, because I had to apply a bunch of coats to obtain full coverage. Also took a very long time to dry after the first two manicures.

Polishes -New York Color - Long Wearing Nail Enamel - Plaza Plumberry 139
rated 5 of 5
mich52331 4/2/2012 8:22:00 PM

So, Plaza Plumberry been on my nails for almost a week. I'm just now starting to see tip wear IF I look closely. Granted, I wrap my tips and am careful with my manicured hands, but this is still pretty amazing. I love the color, too--a dark purple/brown/black with glossy finish. Kind of vampy, edgy, and pretty at the same time. (Even a classically feminine lady like myself can pull this off.) No shimmer.
To boot, I found the formula super easy to work with, and I so didn't have to do a lot of clean-up despite the dark color. Love this!

Fragrances -Elizabeth Taylor - White Diamonds
rated 5 of 5
mich52331 1/24/2012 9:05:00 PM

I just love White Diamonds. I know this fragrance doesn't get a lot of love, but I think it's beautiful---a lush, creamy, musky white floral that's perfect to waft up from the cleavage. I wear the parfum. It's womanly, full-bodied and complex. It surrounds me with jasmine, tuberose and hints of violet. There's musk, too, which makes this slightly naughty. However, it's a clean musk, so this fragrance is still ladylike---just not innocent. I could see this working for a nighttime ball, an afternoon tea or just out shopping. Any time you want to feel feminine and classy. The silage and longevity are excellent.

Fragrances -Tabu - Tabu by Dana cologne splash
rated 5 of 5
mich52331 1/16/2012 10:09:00 PM

Would I buy this again? Yes, yes, yes. I admit, my first encounter with this fragrance spoiled me---I received a bottle of the elusive EDT in a swap with an MUA'er from overseas. It has a bit more depth and lasting power than the cologne available in the US. Truly amazing. I've wept (well, not really) that I can't buy it here. But you know, that's life---what I can buy right now is the cologne, and it's marvelous, too! I don't find Tabu to be overwhelming or unwearable for daily use. I have the lotion, powder, and spray, and I layer just the right amount to get a gentle halo around me of spice, smoke, cola, incense, honey-orange and leather. It manages to be cozy and inviting but also a tad dark and dangerous. The smell comforts me. I like to spritz a little in my hair before I sleep so I can smell it at night.

Top/Base Coats -Barielle - Manicure Extender
rated 1 of 5
mich52331 12/20/2011 2:40:00 PM

Wow, I can't believe the success everyone else has had with this product. I tried a couple of different methods---sandwiching it between my dried polish and regular topcoat as well as using it the second day as a reinforcer. No matter what, my mani chips like crazy when I use this. After a day or two, I see cracks in the polish and then it starts to peel. I'm wondering if it makes the polish *too* hard---meaning, when my nail flexes, the polish cracks because it doesn't flex with it.

Polishes -Unlisted Brand - 10 Professional Nail Lacquer-All Colors
rated 5 of 5
mich52331 11/21/2011 10:50:00 PM

This is now my favorite brand of polish. CVS carries it next to the Confetti brand. I have a few shades--Siren of the Sea, Birthday Suit, Chocolate Kiss, and Read My Lips. They are well-pigmented, yet they're also liquidy and thus non-streaky and easy to layer in thin coats (which I prefer over one thick coat). What's more, they dry to a glossy shine and last the longest of my nail polishes. The line is broad, containing a lot of classic colors and some trendier ones, too.g EDIT OK, so Holiday in Spain was streaky and annoying to apply, but all the others I've tried are still great.

Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Confetti Moonstruck
rated 3 of 5
mich52331 10/4/2011 2:59:00 PM

This polish is a gorgeous, grayish-purple. I can't imagine it looking bad on anyone. The problem I have is with the formula. I don't mind a thin polish, but this one doesn't apply evenly--thicker in some places, thinner in others. Plus, even after waiting for the first coat to dry, the second coat dragged on top, making the manicure all streaky. I had to redo half of my nails. I generously added thinner to the bottle, which improved the consistency. Still not as good as other formulas I've tried. But I have also tried worse, and I will enjoy this polish until it runs out.

Polishes -Sinful - Gogo Girl
rated 4 of 5
mich52331 9/28/2011 9:13:00 PM

EDIT I bumped this down a bit because the lasting power wasn't that great for me and I prefer a red that's more opaque and not jelly. I also found that the formula became gooey rather quickly. {original review} Gogo Girl is amazing! It's the perfect, purest red. The formula is thin and very fluid, so the strokes of polish melt into each other with very little streaking. It's easy to layer. Easy to work with. It takes me three coats to get full-strength color, but that's OK because the drying time is decent. The finish glossy. I've tried a couple other polishes from this line and not been impressed. But this one's a keeper.

Polishes -Revlon - Top Speed - Peachy
rated 3 of 5
mich52331 9/7/2011 10:07:00 PM

I love the color, but that's about it. It's goopy, applies unevenly and started chipping within a day. EDT OK, OK, so I have to up it a lippie. The color is really pretty, and once I accepted that I would need to just use thicker coats, the application became easier. It wore on me for a few days the last time I used it. So . . . still kind of a pain to apply, but not that bad. And did I mention, it's pretty.

Fragrances -Robert Piguet Fragrances - Fracas
rated 5 of 5
mich52331 8/19/2011 12:07:00 AM

The EDP is a bit harsh to me. But the parfum . . . wow. It's a fragrance that, in parfum form, melds with the warmth of my skin and becomes part of my natural scent. I feel comfortable in this. This is a glorious tuberose, yet for me it's much more. My nose always picks up something different from it. There's something slightly edible about it---bread, a touch of salt, I'm not sure. I also smell paper money? All of it together smells like hot skin. I know that sounds strange. I used up my little decant and had to buy myself a larger quantity; this is a classic fragrance that will definitely stay in my wardrobe.

Shampoo -Finesse - Clean + Simple Hypoallergenic For Normal Hair
rated 2 of 5
mich52331 7/29/2011 8:23:00 PM

Wow, this leaves my hair rough and frizzy, and my scalp flakes like crazy. Either this shampoo is too harsh or it's just very difficult to rinse out. I can't tell. It's funny how the sulfate-free shampoos---supposedly more gentle---end up being anything but gentle for me.
