Candles -Unlisted Brand - Slatkin & Co. -- Pineapple Mango Scented Candle
mfrisk 4/9/2011 4:41:00 PM
YUMMY! This scent makes me so happy! So sweet and delicious, smells exactly like its name, with an emphasis on the pineapple. The scent conjures images of tropical vacations -- Hawaii, Mexico, the Caribbean. Slatkin & Co. is known for having some of the best, strongest, longest lasting scents, and Pineapple Mango definitely meets those expectations. You can get the 14.5 oz at Bath & Body Works for 2 for $20, so the price is great, too. (They have sales like that all the time, so don't ever bother buying it at full price).
Lotions/ Creams -Burt's Bees - Milk & Honey Body Lotion

I LOVE this smell. In fact, that's pretty much the only reason I buy this, because I don't think the lotion itself is anything special (not bad, just nothing out of this world.) But something about the unique scent is so comforting to me. Hard to describe, but it's a combination of sweet, sticky honey plus that distinct milky smell that babies have. I use this before bed because I find the scent so comforting. But if you don't like the smell, there's nothing else redeeming about this lotion. I would give it 5 lippies if I thought it moisturized better overall. BTW, I think this smells significantly different on your skin than it does just taking a whiff out of the bottle, so try some on your arms before you judge!
I have a million of these, one in every purse, car, jacket, etc. They're the perfect size and so useful. And if you get them on sale, they only cost about a dollar apiece. All of the scents are pretty good -- strong at first, but they fade down pretty quickly. I prefer the scents that are similar to real foods, such as the ones that have Lemon, Lime, Basil, Apple, Vanilla, etc., because I tend to use these before I eat, and some of the more flowery, perfumey scents conflict with food. I've tried lots of other hand sanitizers such as Burt's Bees, CVS brand sprays, Purell gels, EO wipes, but I find the Bath and Body Works to be the most convenient and perfectly sized. Don't be discouraged if you don't like some of the scents -- they have so freakin' many, you can probably find one that you will like (or at least tolerate). And all hand sanitizers have an alcohol smell to some degree-- that's what makes them work!
This is so not worth the price. I think you can find much better creams that are cheaper and more effective. I used up the entire (small) bottle of this and didn't notice any changes in my skin, other than simply being moisturized. The scent is also too strong and messes with my perfume. I prefer Dr. Denese's neck cream, or just using a really good face cream on my neck. This, like so many of Lush's products, is a cutesy novelty at first, but then quickly proves to be overpriced and useless.
I like this for overnight, but during the day I think it leaves your hands way to greasy to be functional. It has a clean lemon-y scent that I like, but unfortunately it's not great right before bed because I find it a little too strong and invigorating, not relaxing. I would give it a 5 if it were the very best overnight hand cream, but it's not -- no miracles here. I would only buy again if on sale.
Lotions/ Creams -Eucerin - Plus Smoothing Essentials Fast Absorbing Lotion

I totally disagree that this is fast-absorbing. I always feel really greasy when I use this, no matter how sparing I am with application. I also feel that the AHA content is not very high, and doesn't make a noticeable difference in smoothing or exfoliating my skin or helping prevent ingrown hairs. And I don't like the medicinal smell! Not the worst lotion I've ever used, but definitely not a repurchase.
This is super moisturizing and gloopy. Don't try to put it on if you're not planning on wearing socks immediately! This has quality natural ingredients and a nice coconut scent. The only reason I didn't give it 5 lippies is because I don't think it does anything particularly better than cheaper products such as Vaseline and Aquaphor, or natural oils such as grapeseed and olive. And for the extra cost, I'd rather buy a foot cream that has strong exfoliating ingredients.
Best nail file ever. I hate everything about filing my nails -- the sound, the dust, the weird feeling, the difficulty getting the shape just right, etc -- but this file gets the job done faster and smoother than all the others I've tried (including the much more expensive Diamancel). This file is easy to control and I've never had to replace it. I tried a Revlon knock-off of this and it sucked -- it was way too gritty and snagged my nails. But I've never had any snags with this Sephora version. It's strong enough to quickly file long nails way down if you want to, and gentle enough to just do small shape touch-ups.
This is a great shave cream that I discovered on Drugstore.com, where it has incredible reviews. I've tried many different shave creams, gels, soaps, oils, etc., in my quest to get the perfect shave -- I have dry, sensitive skin and coarse hair that grows in different directions, so it's not easy! (Not to mention the hell of shaving the bikini line.) So far, this has worked very well for legs, armpits, and bikini. I actually use a shaving brush with this, which I highly recommend. It helps to create lather and spread the cream, while also lifting the hairs slightly so that you can get a closer shave. Plus, Cremo is actually designed to be used with a brush. Minimal nicks, minimal scent, and my legs have been pretty smooth and buttery so far!
Sunscreen -DERMAdoctor - DERMAdoctor Body Guard Exquisitely Light SPF 30
mfrisk 4/7/2011 2:29:00 AM
I give this a 5, but for BODY only. I don't love this on my face -- I find it tacky and a little irritating. But I had to give this a 5 for body because it's the only sunscreen I trust, when I'm wearing nice clothes, to not rub off on them. When this stuff dries, it really dries! I literally can't feel it on my skin once it has dried. I use it on my neck if I'm wearing a nice shirt, and on my arms in the summer (then I don't stick to the leather seats in my car!) I think it's kind of overpriced, especially for use on the body, but it does make me wear sunscreen more often, so I guess it's doing its job.
I think I literally feel pain when I smell this. It's so cloying! Reminds me of cheap candy and fruity candles. I might have liked this when I was 12, but for an adult?! I have about 10 Demeters, and this is my least favorite.
Polishes -Sally Hansen - Diamond Strength - Honeymoon Red
mfrisk 4/7/2011 2:14:00 AM
Sexy sexy sexy! Great all around classic red, not too dark or vampire-y, not too orange, just perfect. This reminds me of classic pin-up girls and 50s movie stars. Wear it on dates and Valentine's Day!
Sunscreen -Trader Joe's - Face & Body Sunscreen SPF 30
mfrisk 4/6/2011 10:58:00 PM
Breakout alert! I would NOT recommend using this on your face, it's way too heavy. The physical sunblock ingredients are good though, so I still use it on my neck and body, where I can tolerate even the heaviest of lotions. But be careful about your clothes when you use this on your body -- it never fully absorbs, and you could end up with nasty grease streaks. I mainly just use it for workouts and the beach.
I'm a fragrance junkie, and Sensuous Noir is definitely one of my top 5 favorites. If you like strong, moody, evening scents, try this. I love the original version too, but to me, the peppery, musky, more masculine notes in this one make me feel even sexier.
YES!! I absolutely adore this! It smells exactly like its name -- delicious fresh lemons and sugar. Not too citrusy, not too sweet, but a perfect hybrid of the two. And I can't believe this is from such a cheap brand! I love this as a light scent in the summer, or anytime I'm in a bad mood and need a lift. Please don't discontinue!
