Shampoo -Suave - Professionals Dry Shampoo Spray
met451 4/15/2011 6:36:00 PM
This stuff was beyond disappointing. Not only did it not do anything for my hair, but I only got to use it once. The second time I tried to use it there was literally nothing in it (and I did NOT use that much)! I don't know if there was a leak in the top that allowed it to all evaporate or what, but even at this cheap price I still don't think I got my money's worth. Won't be buying this again.

Concealers -Garnier - Anti-Dark-Circle Eye Roller
met451 3/14/2011 4:36:00 PM
I thought I'd just add my two cents to review this product. I have really dark, chronic dark circles under my eyes that are bad enough to prompt people to tell me that I look tired at least several times a week. Out of desperation I bought this product hoping that it could at least make a dent in them (I realize that nothing is going to work a miracle). Before this I was using Neutrogena 3in1 concealer which was too thick and the color too off for my skin tone to look natural. With this, I just swipe it on and blend it quickly in, no fuss and no worrying about how it looks. This doesn't completely eliminate my circles but it does make them greatly reduced and I love that it doesn't crease and is fairly fool-proof. The thin consistency of this actually helps with the blending in my opinion and the color spot-on for me.

Powder -Meow Cosmetics - Flawless Feline Mineral Foundation
met451 2/27/2011 11:59:00 PM
I normally use Meow Cosmetics Pampered Puss in Inquisitive Korat but I was starting to run out and wanted to see how well the Flawless Feline provided coverage, so I ordered a sample of it to try out. No matter how well I prepped my skin (exfoliation, letting moisturizer sink in, using/not using primer, using VERY little, etc.) I could not get this to consistently work well. The coverage is really quite good/heavy, however the problem is that it either ends up looking cakey, accentuates ANY dry skin and migrates when I start to sweat. I knew I looked bad when my husband saw me outside and asked me if I was feeling okay because I looked so much paler than normal; although I ordered the same color as in Pampered Puss, the extra coverage made me look like a ghost. I really like Meow Cosmetics products, but this is a definite no-go for me.

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Color Stay 12 Hour Eye Shadow- Berry Bloom
met451 2/7/2011 2:46:00 PM
I have to admit, I've had this quad for probably over a year and have only used a few of the colors one or two times because I was afraid that the whole quad would come off as way too garish for someone as pale as me (it was an impulse buy at the time). But after watching a few youtube videos about how to apply all of the colors, I worked up the courage to try it and to be honest, I find the lighter pigmentation and ease of blending to actually be assets with this quad. These two traits allows me to create a quasi-smokey look that not only is appropriate for day, but can also be intensified for a night look, a win-win in my book. And best of all, the colors really highlight the complexity of my brown eyes, the first such color palette I've found to truly do that. As with any eyeshadow, I would recommend using some kind of primer underneath in order to ensure your application lasts.

Moisturizers -Garnier - Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream
met451 2/5/2011 10:55:00 AM
While I was living in China, Garnier bought up a native Chinese cosmetics company and started marketing this product under their brand. When this product was brought to the US, I checked and sure enough, the ingredients are the same, packaging is the same, etc., so I figured I can review it even though I haven't bought the "American version". I absolutely loved this stuff while living abroad mainly because if you have oily skin, this won't make it worse nor will it dry you out, it just seems to balance moisture in the skin. I would wear this under my sunscreen and then at night as well, no problems with break outs. However, I only used this during the warmer months, I don't know if I would recommend using it during the winter mainly due to the fact that I believe its moisturizing properties won't do much for very dry skin, however if you have combination skin, I would recommend this as a light moisturizer.

Mascara -Physicians Formula - Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Mascara
met451 1/23/2011 1:23:00 PM
Out of all the mu products I have bought recently, I have never wanted something to perform so well as this mascara. My eyes have gotten incredibly sensitive to other brands of mascara (CG primarily), and I thought it might be due to the chemicals, so off to find a "natural" mascara I stumbled upon this at Target. I LOVE how easy this is to take off, however that ease is countered by the fact that if my eyes water even a bit, this will literally smear all over my under eyes. After going through one day with black smeared all over my under eyes, I have resigned myself to the fact that I literally cannot use this. Even if I don't think my eyes have watered at all, this seems to smear. I am beyond disappointed in this product because it goes on beautifully, it really enhances my eyelashes with a very natural look, but in the end I cannot use something that smears so horribly.

Mascara -Rimmel - Lash Maxxx
met451 11/27/2010 12:53:00 PM
I picked this mascara up because I needed something to replace my old Covergirl Lashblast and this looked interesting. I have very long eye lashes so when I buy mascara, I look for volume not length. Unfortunately, this mascara gives me length, not volume. In fact, when I apply it I ALWAYS end up getting some of it on the tops of my eye lids because it is so wet and dries slowly. However I could live with that except for the fact that not only is this really difficult to take off, but it also flakes easily (I'm still not sure how that is possible but I am constantly getting this in my eyes). If I wear it on my bottom lashes it smudges, however even when I use my oil cleanser I can't seem to ever get this off in one go. Not to mention it takes me twice as long to use this because if you just "swipe and go" you'll have clumps everywhere and it won't look good. The brush is the culprit here. Overall, this is a decent mascara but I have gone back to my Lashblast that gives me tons of volume, doesn't smudge and is easy to remove.

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Renpure Organics Moisturizing Shampoo
met451 9/19/2010 12:40:00 PM
I was looking for something to replace my "Real Solutions" shampoo (I assume the company went out of business) and stumbled upon this. I really wanted something that was sulfate free as this ingredient really messes with my scalp, but was also moisturizing. I've been using both this and the conditioner for a few months now, and not only is it incredibly moisturizing, I suspect it might be a bit TOO moisturizing. Prior to using this I had to put serum in my hair regardless of whether I air dried or blew my hair dry in order to keep it from frizzing up, now I can go without any product whatsoever. This was great at first, but now I'm having problems with build up and no matter how much I scrub my scalp it still feels oily and dirty. I recently moved across the country so it could be that the change in humidity is playing a part too. All in all, a good product but when I run out of this I might try another shampoo in the line that won't be so moisturizing.

Conditioner -Jason Natural Cosmetics - Aloe Vera 84% Conditioner - Hair Nourishing Formula
met451 5/16/2010 11:53:00 AM
I use this product in combination with the Aloe Vera shampoo. My feelings on this product are very similar to the shampoo: it works okay, but I'm not going to buy it again. I can't really tell if this conditioner moisturizes or not; after rinsing it off in the shower my hair still feels dry and brittle. After letting my hair air-dry, it's a bit softer but still, I don't feel that this does much compared to other conditioners I've tried. The thick, waxy consistency doesn't bother me as it helps the conditioner grip my hair, however as you go through the product it becomes increasingly more difficult to get it out as there is no way to "drain" it. I suspect I am going to waste a quarter of this product simply because I cannot seem to get it out! I do not think this is worth the relatively expensive price.

Hair -Jason Natural Cosmetics - Aloe Vera 84% Shampoo
met451 5/16/2010 11:41:00 AM
I'm really on the fence with this product. I have thick, wavy/coarse hair with an oily/sensitive scalp, so I try to stay away from sulfate shampoos. This one seemed like a winner: natural ingredients, no sulfates, made with aloe vera, etc. I was a bit put off by the price, but truthfully it's so thick that I've had it a few months now and have yet to replace the bottle. What I've found is that after using it everyday for a long period of time, my hair is getting increasingly dry and the cleaning ability of this shampoo is mediocre at best. I rarely blow-dry my hair, however after going to my stylist for a haircut after using this for a long time, I had to chop off a few inches due to the damage in my hair. I can only blame this product as I do VERY little styling to my hair (it's a bit pointless for me really). Overall, not a horrible product, but not great either. Certainly not worth the amount they are charging for it in stores.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Length
met451 4/25/2010 10:52:00 AM
This product really irritates me, both literally and figuratively speaking. It is marketed as not flaking and as not making your eye lashes stiff, but in reality, if you get even a bit of moisture near your eyes, this stuff is going to flake bad. Not only that, I've found that if I wear it for a long time, it dries out and starts to flake as well. As for the actual mascara itself, I don't really see a difference between this and the lash exact; my lashes don't look thick or long, simply separated, which gives a clean albeit sedate look. All in all, this mascara is not horrible, but I refuse to buy this again.

Foundations -Meow Cosmetics - Pampered Puss Mineral Foundation
met451 4/7/2010 7:08:00 PM
This is by far the best mineral makeup foundation I've ever used! I ordered a few samples ($1 each) after consulting the online forum about what my ideal match is (just submit a photo and you'll get feedback). I usually have a really hard time with mineral makeup disappearing after a few hours due to my oily skin, but as long as I use the oily skin primer from Meow Cosmetics under this, it lasts most if not the entire day. But what I absolutely LOVE most about this powder is the fact that I do not have to buff it in like other makeup lines. Because of this, it's very quick to apply and looks flawless even with my large pores. Sinks in quickly and never looks cakey. Although there is visible mica in this foundation, at least its not like EDM where I look down-right shiny after application.

Misc Beauty Tools -Physicians Formula - Bamboo Wear - Bamboo Compact
met451 3/13/2010 9:29:00 AM
I really liked the idea of a refillable compact that was not only pretty but also not made of cheap plastic/metal. This compact feels fairly sturdy in hand, but it is a bit bulky for carrying around in a purse, and you are unable to use the mirror and the foundation at the same time (see reviews posted below). The foundation tin fits securely into the space allotted for it via strong magnets, and magnets keep the various compartments in the compact from opening up randomly. All in all, I wish I could find another makeup line to use this compact with since I do not care for the actual make up but I do like the compact. Also, if you get these early enough, there is a "try me free" sticker on some of the packages so you can mail in a rebate and ultimately get this for free.

Eyeliner -Revlon - ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen
met451 12/14/2009 8:10:00 PM
I wish I had checked the reviews for this before I bought it. I too got it as part of a BOGO deal at Ulta. My hair is black-brown and past experience has taught me to avoid black liquid eyeliners as they make me look goth with my extremely pale skin, so I bought the black-brown shade in this. What a mistake. Not only did very little liquid come out, but it was also so light that it looked like I had drawn with a regular marker on my eye. I plan on giving this to my sister in law who has blond hair, it should look natural on her.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Walgreens - Alpha Hydroxy Lotion 8%
met451 8/7/2009 10:46:00 AM
This is a really great product. After going to several Walgreens, I managed to find it and have been using it nightly for a few weeks now. I have definitely seen a difference in my skin, mainly that it is so much CLEARER now than before, and less oily in general. I have huge pores, and they look much less noticeable now due to the exfoliating properties of this cream. When I first started using this, I didn't use any moisturizer on top of it and my skin became really dry, now I use moisturizer after applying this, and my skin is smooth, soft and almost flawless without makeup. I can't believe how cheap and effective this is!
