Concealers -Chanel - Eclat Lumiere Highlighting Face Pen
rated 4 of 5

I'm left feeling a bit confused about this product. I use it under my eyes whenever I'm looking tired or pale, I don't use it as a highlighter per se. I love it because it cancels out my dark circles, illuminates and reflects to make my eye area brighter, adds a tiny bit of shimmer that really brightens my whole face. The applicator is easy and efficient, you just twist the bottom until product comes out the top through the brush and dot a bit under your eyes. Then I either pat on or buff in with a blending brush. Excellent results! However, I do find that it creases a little bit a few minutes after applying, so I have to remember to blend that in once again, where it will stay put for the rest of the day. Also, the shimmers looks fabulous in indoor lighting, but in natural light, it can look a bit too shimmery, almost as if you applied a shimmer eyeshadow and the fallout landed under your eyes. Overall, I haven't found another product like it. It's quick, easy, a bit expensive but works wonders! Just be careful to buff it out once it creases and try to use it when you'll be staying indoors. Will most likely repurchase unless I find a better quality product for under the eyes!

Masks -Bliss Labs - Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask
rated 2 of 5
meliciousmelmy 7/31/2011 7:43:00 PM

I use this every week or so, I didn't give it one star simply because it doesn't break me out or do anything BAD, it just doesn't really do anything GOOD either. I mean, it's fun to put on because of the foam, but for the price, I expected it to actually do something. Hydrate, exfoliate, dry up zits, deep clean, something?! I'm left with my face looking and feeling exactly as it was before I applied the mask. Not worth any money, much less $50. Left me feeling very disappointed, and it's not comparable to their Oxygen Facial in my opinion.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - All-In-One Makeup Removing Cleansing Wipes
rated 1 of 5
meliciousmelmy 7/31/2011 7:39:00 PM

Great at removing makeup, horrible for the face. These left a strange residue on my face after taking my makeup off, I thought it was probably just something left over to leave your face feeling a bit moisturized. Ugh, no! My face felt tight after these, I'd have to apply moisturizer, which is fine. But a few days after starting to use this, I broke out so badly! Gross whiteheads, but when they were squeezed, clear liquid came out instead of puss. Sorry for the description, but I'll have to suffer between gross whiteheads or scars/broken skin because of these. Definitely not purchasing again. Beware if you have sensitive skin!

Makeup Brushes -Sigma - Sigma Essential Kit - Make Me Blush
rated 3 of 5
meliciousmelmy 3/27/2011 5:25:00 PM

I've heard from so many beauty gurus on Youtube about these brushes. Many of them are paid by Sigma, but I decided to try them out anyway. I bought the complete set. For the price, these brushes are pretty good. They get the job done, the black handles make them look higher end, and the bristles are soft and are really good at picking up and depositing makeup. HOWEVER, the Dio Fibre (F50) brush started losing brush hairs very quickly. I use it to apply cream blushes, so basically I end up with little hairs all over my cheeks where it sticks to the cream... not good. The Large Angled Contour Brush's (F40) handle broke of the 2nd day I had it. Before I had even cleaned it, so there's really no excuse for the glue to come undone in the handle. So basically: if you really need a full set of brushes to start a collection for a very reasonable price, I would suggest these. You can then replace the ones that are damaged/broken with Mac or Lancome brushes as time goes on. However, if you're only looking to pick up 1 or 2 brushes, or have the money to invest in Mac quality brushes, take that route. I don't totally regret this purchase since I now have a base collection and have been replacing them with nicer brushes as I go along, but honestly, if you can save the money for nicer quality brushes, do it. Hope this helps :)

Primer/ Corrector -Clinique - Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector
rated 1 of 5
meliciousmelmy 2/24/2010 7:56:00 PM

WOW. what in the world! THIS STUFF CLOGS MY PORES, making them MORE noticeable. I've broken out with the WORST cystic acne that won't go away for days and is leaving scars. I know it's this product because it's the only product i've changed and the acne is JUST in the t-zone (where i use this product). seems to make my skin more oily, takes a while to dry, weird consistency, ugh i HATE it. all clinique products break me out. every single one, i should've known. however, even if i didn't break out, this stuff just doesn't do what it says it will. makes you MORE oily, gives you blackheads, makes pores larger. I feel like Clinique often says "use this to mattify your skin!" but it really makes your skin more oily, thus you have to use more product, putting money in their pockets. basically, PROS: - inexpensive, cool looking tube, nice concept CONS: - makes you oily, clogs pores, causes breakouts, doesn't mattify or prime, takes forever to dry. would NEVER recommend. i don't want to waste this and throw it away, i might just give it to my worst enemy. PS: sorry I sound like a 2-year-old with my overactive use of capital letters, but I'm upset.

Treatments (Eye) -L'Oreal - Lash Boosting Serum
rated 5 of 5
meliciousmelmy 2/19/2010 11:19:00 PM

Wow. I honestly was so cynical about this product. There was no way that this could work. But it did! Now I'm not saying you'll go from baby lashes to extreme falsies overnight. But your lashes WILL be stronger, slightly longer, and not fall out as often. I could go on and on, but basically, this product works, and it's well worth the $11. Might as well try it!

Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup
rated 5 of 5
meliciousmelmy 2/15/2010 9:28:00 PM

NEW HG! I've never been satisfied with foundations from the get-go. I hate high end foundations, they usually oxidize. And drugstore foundations usually don't blend well. PROS: Blends easily, thin liquid with medium buildable coverage, makes face look beautiful! AHHH amazing:) CONS: takes a little while to dry.

Cleansers -L'Oreal - Go 360 Clean Deep Cream Cleanser
rated 3 of 5
meliciousmelmy 2/14/2010 12:01:00 AM

I hate to not be a rave reviewer on this. It's not that I have a problem with the product, I just don't see any benefits either. I guess it cleans pretty well. But a cream cleanser should be waaay more hydrating than this. Maybe I'm used to The Body Shop's Vitamin E cleanser. Anyway, this stuff works, I think. It makes my face clean enough, I don't know how exactly you measure cleanliness though. It feels a tad bit stripping, not too bad. The little plastic bristle honestly doesn't really do anything. It's not big enough or hard enough to even come close to exfoliating. The product smells pretty nice, well sort of like fake flowers, but it's alright. I think I'm getting too used to high end brands:( but as far as drugstore cleansers go, I'll say this is pretty good. OVERALL: If you must buy a drugstore cleanser for a deep clean, I'd recommend this one. However, if you can afford a nicer cleanser or are used to them, don't expect amazing/similar results from this. xoxo

Skincare - Face -Clinique - 3 Step System
rated 1 of 5
meliciousmelmy 2/13/2010 11:54:00 PM

Wow. I rarely ever break out, and when I do, it's easy-to-get-rid of whiteheads. This stuff gave me HORRIBLE cystic acne ALL over my face. I'm literally going to have scars all over my face that I will have to always coverup because of this. I hope they go away :( some are fading, some are not. I bought this after the rave reviews by Blair on Youtube, Juicystar07. Ugh! However, Clinique products ALWAYS seem to break me out! So I should've known:( I'm just so sad my face is such a red mess now! And this stuff wasn't the cheapest on the planet either. If you like Clinique products, this miiiight work for you. However, the cleanser and toner are very drying! (and I got the dry-combo type). The only "moisturizing" part of the system is the moisturizer, which wasn't even hydrating enough for my skin. I had to use another moisturizer on top of this. OVERALL: Beware! If you start breaking out, STOP! I waited too long to see if the results would change (I thought my skin was reacting to a new product and would get used to it). xoxo

Hair Color -Frederic Fekkai - Salon Color Kit
rated 5 of 5
meliciousmelmy 1/2/2010 7:05:00 PM

Color: Medium Blonde Naturally: Dark Blonde, bleached highlights Love this! I have always had my hair highlighted at the salon, but I was sick of the maintenance ($140 a month). So I figured I'd just dye it at home for $30. Expensive for hair color, but worth it! The color is PERFECT! (even highlighted, if that's possible, maybe just from going over my already bleached highlights. however my roots are highlighted too!) The color isn't brassy at all, so gorgeous. I've gotten so many compliments. Leaves my hair really soft, smooth, and shiny. However, my ends look soooo over-processed. However, I'll just get a trim after I dye it from now on. Love this stuff. Easy, beautiful. HG!!! ps. Sorry I sound like a 2-year old, this is just so exciting!

Mascara -Urban Decay - Eyelash Primer Potion
rated 4 of 5
meliciousmelmy 11/26/2009 10:45:00 AM

I actually really like this. I've only tried one or two eyelash primers before (both drugstore) so I can't exactly compare it to anything else, but this definitely helps my lashes look longer, more defined, etc. I bought this because of a review done by MakeupByTiffanyD on youtube, and she loved it too. The first 2-3 applications were bad, no product came out and there was no difference. But after those few applications it worked like a charm! Really like this and recommend it to anyone looking for a little extra "oomph" on their lashes. PS. just try it and return it if you don't like it! simple :)

Other -Crest - Whitestrips Advanced Seal
rated 4 of 5
meliciousmelmy 10/18/2009 4:39:00 PM

If you're going to use white strips and don't have time to sit still doing nothing for 1/2 an hour, this is the way to go. Sticks great! I can drink, swallow, talk, take a shower, etc. with these on, and they won't come off. I didn't realize how convenient that would be until I had these. Expensive, yes. Do they get teeth white, yes. But I feel like my teeth react more with these than the normal white strips. If I leave the strips on for more than 30 mins, OW! I will have a horrible toothache for the rest of the day. Sometimes even under 30 minutes, it hurts! Maybe my teeth are just sensitive, but it seems like they hurt more with the Advanced Seal compared to the normal ones. And I only use them once a week, so I'm not sure what that's about. Oh and taking them off isn't that difficult. I'm not sure why other people are having this problem. It's sort of like peeling duct tape off of something. Slow and very adhesive, but not painful or difficult.

Concealers -Maybelline - Superstay
rated 5 of 5
meliciousmelmy 10/18/2009 3:15:00 PM

2nd time buying this product, and I will continue purchasing until I find something that lasts as long! The packaging is easy to use, you just take the wand, swipe some concealer on blemishes, then dab with your fingers. Viola! A little hard to blend sometimes, but I don't expect too much from a drugstore brand. I know that there are MUCH better concealers out there that will hide my blemishes better, but THEY DON'T LAST! I use this in the morning, and I'm still covered at night. It's not thick, not thin, perfect consistency. Does emphasize dry patches, but I just use a little rosebud salve (or Murad Acne Concealer, which also works very well, but doesn't last) on those areas. BUY IF YOU: - need something long-lasting, good consistency, to cover discolorations (doesn't work too well on raised bumps or uneven textures) and need to save money DON'T BUY: - if you have dry skin (really bad on dry patches!), have a lot of raised pimples, or don't have time to blend. RATING: 5/5 because it's perfect for me :) not a completely perfect product for everyone, though.

Moisturizers -Olay - Hydrating Beauty Fluid
rated 4 of 5
meliciousmelmy 10/18/2009 3:08:00 PM

This stuff is okay. I would really like it except IT SMELLS SO STRONG! It's kind of a musky baby powder scent, but not sweet or cute at all. Just gross. And the smell doesn't fade over time. I usually mix this moisturizer with my foundation for a dewy look, and it works pretty well (it makes my foundation harder to blend though? weird). Anyway, I had to sit through Mass with this nasty baby powder smell surrounding my nostrils. Yuck. If it blended easier, smelled better, and had a creamier consistency, I would LOVE it! It is very moisturizing and gets rid of all of my flaky patches, but it makes my skin feel sort of plastic-y, not soft and supple. Oh well. Not a buy again, but not bad enough to return.

Liquid -Cover Girl - CG Smoothers All Day Hydrating Makeup
rated 5 of 5
meliciousmelmy 7/26/2009 7:53:00 PM

I really like this foundation. I was going on a weekend trip with my best friend and needed to pick up an airport friendly foundation, so I stopped at the drugstore and picked this up really quickly. I knew I would probably be in a sticky situation (no pun intended), but I had no other choice. I ended up really liking it though! PROS: - goes on smoothly (with primer) - evens out skin tone - has lasting power - made dry patches look good, instead of accentuating them :) CONS: - was a little too dark, but i can just pick up a lighter shade! - comes in a small plastic tubey thing. for reference, i have combination skin (oily t-zone and random dry patches), this left my skin looking great! didn't make me shiny, and didn't make the dry patches look flaky like most foundations do! btw, will not buy again because i like department store brands for my HG foundations. however, for something cheap this worked great!
