Polishes -China Glaze - Stone Cold - Capitol Colours Hunger Games Collection
meliadfun 3/14/2012 12:48:00 AM
i was so excited about this color. i love the hunger games. and i loved this color...for the first five minutes. it dries matte. lovely. but after about five, it's nothing but chip, chip, chip. ugh. so, i forsook the matte and coated it. it lasted most of the day...but then chip, chip, chip. i'm trying it with a base coat this time, but my hopes are not high. i'll be going back to my opi... very sad... :(

Top/Base Coats -Revlon - Extra Life Top Coat
meliadfun 3/14/2012 12:42:00 AM
this little baby is my secret weapon. i religiously coat my opi polishes with this top coat. it totally extends the life of the polish...and can keep my nails lovely for up to a week...depending on how crazy i get. it's pretty cheap depending on where you buy, and if you can find it on sale at the drugstore. often the revlon goes buy one get one for 50% off, especially at cvs. a little note...i do coat the underside of my nails...this is key because it seals the tips.

Polishes -OPI - My Private Jet
meliadfun 3/14/2012 12:32:00 AM
this is my favorite opi color. but yes, i'm that girl. it's dark and rainbow sparkly. bad-ass and girly all in one. it sets great, and has great staying power...especially when coated by the revlon long-life no chip top coat (my secret weapon!). of course it looks like they're only making it in gel color now...way too involved for me. so, i've resorted to purchasing it online...

Polishes -OPI - Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous
meliadfun 3/14/2012 12:26:00 AM
this is one of my go-to colors. i love it and it does look marvelous...hee, hee. i get more compliments on this color. it keeps well, especially when i coat it with the revlon long-life no chip top coat...another must have. opi colors are the best. i got sucker into the china glaze hunger games stone cold because i couldn't find my private jet. it was a very important reminder as to why i only buy opi. c'est la vie!

Eyeliner -Smashbox - Limitless Liquid Liner Pen
meliadfun 2/28/2012 11:21:00 PM
so far, i like this liquid waterproof pen the best. i tried the stila, but the pigment quality was just not good. this is easy to use, makes light or heavy lines. it does run a bit by the end of the day, which is a bummer. but i don't normally use this for my daytime look...just for a heavier evening out look. packaging is convenient. i'll buy it again for sure.

Eyeliner -Smashbox - limitless eyeliner
meliadfun 2/28/2012 11:01:00 PM
so, i've got this in indigo ink, smoke, and java. the smoke definitely had the best results. i love the pigments, but can't get them to set for the long haul. i have mature (dry) skin...and the runny smudge that showed up end of the day/eve...made me sad. i had taken to helping set with a liquid and powder (after primer and powder)...but they're just not worth it for the price. i do love the packaging...that they have that lovely sharpener is delish! they do glide on smooth, so no tugging. problem is the tugging that was then required to tighten up the smudginess. they are pretty versatile when it come to the hard or softer lines. i don't waterline, so i can't give a hint there. i probably won't purchase again, but i'll use these up as the evenings out allow...

Eyeliner -New York Color - Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil - all
meliadfun 2/28/2012 10:47:00 PM
so, i've been cycling through the waterproof pencil eyeliners. i had settled on the smashbox limitless. i liked the pigments, but it still didn't have the set i wanted. even with primer and powder, i still had the runny smudge toward the end of the day. my skin is also a bit mature (dry), so i'm super conscious about any pulling the can result in 'wrinkle assist.' point being, at $20 a pop...the smudging just didn't scream 'yay'...and the tugging to clean up the smudge was creating some concern. so, playing around at the drugstore i picked up the nyc in smoked plum and dark brown. and for $4, no runny smudge and no tugging touch-ups! wahoo!!! i've given these 4 lippies, cause it's only day one. they lasted all day and endured the gym and the sauna, but i haven't done a late night or clubbing. dirt cheap, yep. (especially with what i spend on makeup!) packaging quality, well...i wish it had a sharpener. at this point, i'll buy it again... EDIT: so, i'm hooked. i've bought all the colors. they continue to hold all day and into the night. i do do a little touch up before heading out, but there's not runny smudge. i do wish they had more colors and colors with sparkle. i do set with powder after application.

Styling Products -Jonathan - Dirt
meliadfun 8/4/2009 11:37:00 PM
this product was but a stop on my quest to find a pomade type product for my short in the back, long in the front short hair. i had been using crew pomade, but detested the smell. i'm a girl...not a guy. this smelled good, and it presented itself in mini form at the sephora checkout line. the smell is the best part of this product for me. unfortunately, the consistency was too pasty and never melted down when worked into my palms. it remained pasty. and while it worked on the back part of my hair, it weighted down the front and made it completely stiff and lifeless...removed all of the body. this product is great for short hair, but not for anything you want to keep some bounce in.

Styling Products -ENJOY - Texture Cream
meliadfun 8/4/2009 11:26:00 PM
love this. i've used crew pomade...worked great but smelled like a dude. and dirt...great smell but didn't blend well, too pasty. this stuff blends and smells great. they give you a huge amount of product for the price, and it only takes a little bit. i work a tiny bit into my palms and scrunch it into my hair. my hair is chin length, so the cream holds down the fly aways and give it a little bit of that texture that only days without washing can provide. i'll definitely buy it again if i ever run out!!!

Treatments -Sally Hansen - Creme Hair Remover for Face
meliadfun 7/31/2009 2:29:00 AM
i use this creme for my upper lip. i have super sensitive skin, and switched from the SH wax strips to the creme when i learned that the strips might increase the chances to make my fine lines even deeper. i put the creme generously on uncleaned skin, leave it on for the recommended time and wipe of with a warm cloth. i make sure the treated skin clean and moisturized after. the moisturizer that comes with works fine. sometimes i add little neosporin...helps with the sting. i also make sure to exfoliate the area well for a few days after the treatment...keeps away the little breakout bumps. also works well on the little hairs around the opening of my nose.

Hair Removal -Sally Hansen - Hair Remover Wax Strip Kit for Face, Brown & Bikini
meliadfun 7/31/2009 2:14:00 AM
this product works just great. i used it repeatedly for my upper lip, until i read an article about how waxing the lip could increase the chances for fine lines. not willing to chance it, i now use SH Creme Hair Remover for Face. works just as well.
