Lip Gloss -Clinique - Long Last Glosswear SPF 15
rated 4 of 5

I have quite a few of these lip glosses and I really like them. Most of the ones I own are fairly sheer but have a hint of color. I haven't tried any really dark red or dark pink ones, so I can't speak for those, but I do have a couple mid-tone colors. The gloss is really sticky, I would probably even say worse than MAC l/g and those are known to be pretty bad. I personally don't mind sticky, so to me that is fine and isn't a big deal, but that could be a big negative for a lot of people. Also, the gloss doesn't have great staying power. If you eat/drink nothing, you can get about 2 hours out of them. I tend to re-apply my lip gloss anyways, so again, this isn't a problem for me. I have never noticed any unpleasant scent and was generally pleased with the range of colors. They don't have as wide of a selection as some brands (like MAC), but it was relatively easy to find colors that interested me. I really like these over lip stick or liner because they seem to really hold the color in place. I think that might be a benefit of it being so sticky. I can make any lipstick long-wearing by putting this gloss over it. I would definitely repurchase if I ran out, but I wouldn't run out to get the gloss. It's nice, but nothing really special.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette
rated 5 of 5
mel61488 7/31/2010 6:10:00 PM

I bought this palette the day it came out on UD.com. I am a huge UD fan and have several of their palettes and had decided not to buy anymore since a lot of the colors tend to be repeated. The Naked palette is the first palette with matte shades and includes 5 new colors and also has a new brown eyeliner, whiskey, that is similar to bourbon but without the glitter. This is the most versatile palette I own by UD and something I can see myself using every day. I don't normally wear eye shadows during the day, but have found myself wearing neutral looks every day. I'm normally NC15, but in the summer I am about NC 30. I think this combination of colors will work for me at any shade. For $44 dollars, I will definitely repurchase should I run out since it is permanent.

Tinted Moisturizer -TheBalm - BalmShelter Tinted Moisturizer
rated 4 of 5
mel61488 7/31/2010 6:04:00 PM

I bought this because thebalm was having a promotional deal with 50% off its merchandise and free shipping on June 21st to welcome summer. I was running out of my normal TM and decided to give this a try. I bought the shade light/medium while I was tanned at a NC 30-35ish. It is a really nice match and evens out my skin tone. I don't wear foundation during the day, but this provides enough coverage that with a dusting of powder on top it works all day. I have a bit of redness in my cheeks (though it goes away in the summer when I tan), so I can't say for sure how it works with redness yet. I also really like the packaging because you can squeeze out the amount you need and remains hygienic. I like that the top is a flip top, and not a screw top like a lot of my other TM's. I think this may be my new favorite TM and I definitely will continue to repurchase, even at full price.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies
rated 5 of 5
mel61488 7/31/2010 5:45:00 PM

I think I have found my HG mascara. This product is absolutely amazing if you have straight lashes that have a hard time holding a curl. Almost every mascara I have ever tried has weighed down my lashes and made them straight again in less than 10 minutes. The falsies wp is even better at holding a curl- but the regular version works just fine as well. I highly recommend trying this mascara if you're looking for something new! The brush is also a bit tricky to work at first. It is really easy to apply too much to your lashes and leave them wet and clumpy. I have found it works best to turn the brush on its side and use only the little bristles to coat my lashes. I have to go over them a couple of times, but they never get clumpy and stay separated and lengthen a lot this way. I already have repurchased 2 times and will continue to do so!

Lotions/ Creams -DERMAdoctor - KP Duty
rated 5 of 5
mel61488 6/20/2010 12:15:00 PM

I first have to say that I used this in conjunction with the KP duty body scrub. I have seasonal keratosis- in the summer my legs are fine, and come September or October I start to get the bumps all over my thighs and calves. I have found this is most effective when I start using it at the end of September before they get too bad. It helps to keep the ones that haven't appeared yet at bay and even gets rid of the few that I will have at that time. I use the scrub about once every other shower and the lotion after each shower. I have found it is best to soak my legs in the shower while washing my hair and what not, get out and dry off my legs and then put the scrub on, wait 3 minutes and then wash. It seems to work better then putting the scrub on dry skin and then washing it off in the shower. While this is expensive, I used a few products from the dermatologist that were equally pricey and didn't work. I am willing to shell out any amount of money to be able to wear dresses and skirts in the winter again without being self conscious. I would definitely rebuy this again along with the scrub! I think it is most important to use both consistently. I slacked off during christmas break because I left the scrub at school, and the keratosis came out all over in a few weeks. It was harder to get rid of all of it then it was to start before too many appeared. I have since bought a tub of each for home and school so I don't let that happen again.

Mascara -Prestige - My Biggest Lashes
rated 5 of 5
mel61488 6/19/2010 10:44:00 AM

This mascara is amazing. I have lashes that are short to medium in length and straight. They will curl, but most mascaras are heavy and weigh them down and the curl disappears within 15 minutes. This mascara is very light weight and makes my lashes look very defined. The brush is pretty big, but I haven't had any trouble reaching my inner and outer corners with it. Also, the formulation is a bit different, but I find I don't need to use very much of the product to get good results- one coat is enough. I think with multiple coats and without a good eye lash brush this would be a VERY clumpy mascara. The brush does not offer much in the way of separation, which is why I only use a single coat (which luckily is enough for me anyways!). I don't know if I would say this is HG yet, I still have high hopes for a few other's I have yet to try, but it is the best I have tried so far. It is also fairly cheap (about $7 at ulta), but if you wait until they are having a sale, I got two for about $10- so very affordable. I definitely recommend giving it a chance!

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
rated 1 of 5
mel61488 6/14/2010 9:30:00 PM

I don't normally leave negative reviews, but I absolutely hated this mascara and would urge others not to purchase it. This is a good mascara if you are young and/or on a budget and just looking for a little color to add to your lashes. However, this mascara did not hold a curl or lengthen my lashes at all. In fact, after about 5 minutes of putting on the mascara, it looked as if I had nothing on my eyes and had some flakes on my under eye area within an hour or so and mascara never flakes up on me. I would not repurchase this or ever use it again. I do know some friends who swear by this, so I think it really depends what kind of lashes you have. But if they are short(ish) and straight, i recommend staying away!! In my opinion, there are many other cheap mascara alternatives that are much better than this product.

Bronzers -MAC - Lustre Drops - Pink Rebel
rated 4 of 5
mel61488 6/7/2010 7:16:00 PM

I really like this product. First off, I did not pay retail price for this, I found it at the CCO and got it for around 12 dollars. But, I would pay the full price in a heartbeat should I run out. This product is amazing to mix in with your foundation to give you that dewy glow from within. Having dry skin in the winter, my skin never looks dewy and a lot of MSF's just make me look glittery or like I am trying to hard. I mix 2 or 3 drops of this in with my tinted moisturizer or foundation (depending on the occasion) and my face looks amazing. I didn't give this 5 stars because I don't think it works very good as a highlight. I am fairly pale, and it did not show up on me at all when trying to use it on my cheekbones only. I wanted it to be a product I could use for both, but I love the way it makes my face look so much that I am willing to continue looking for another product to be my cream highlighter.

Hair -TiGi - Rockaholic Dry Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
mel61488 2/2/2010 7:42:00 PM

I actually LOVED this product. It made my hair look amazing, didn't leave a funky smell, and made my hair look washed and clean! Unfortunately, the packaging sucks horribly. I would say I got 3 solid uses out of this product before the can was empty. For 20 dollars it's not worth it. If they could adjust the packaging or make it in powder form I would definitely buy again, otherwise my search continues for a HG dry shampoo.

Tinted Moisturizer -Olay - Total Effects 7-in-1 Anti-Aging UV Moisturizer Plus Touch Of Foundation
rated 5 of 5
mel61488 1/31/2010 6:44:00 PM

I have been using this product for a few years now. I love the amount of coverage you get while it is extremely moisturizing to my VERY dry skin. I typically will not wear this alone though. It is a little too sheer for me on a regular basis. However, this is perfect for summer when your going to the beach or out boating and don't want to put any make up on. It has spf and enough coverage to even out any imperfections. The color looks scary initially as is it very brown but it blends amazingly. I absolutely adore this product and will be buying it over and over again.

Polishes -OPI - Smitten With Mittens
rated 5 of 5
mel61488 11/30/2009 10:50:00 PM

Smitten with mittens is a dark burgundy red with lots of gold and silver sparkles in it. It is absolutely beyond gorgeous and I have worn it every mani since I bought it a few weeks ago. I should mention that I have looked on the website and it doesn't look anything like the color it truly is. It has the same glitter effects of crimson carol or dear santa and is a much deeper and darker red than it appears on the website. The only complaint I have is that taking it off is a pain. You really have to scrub to get all of the glitter chunks off your nails and skin. I would definitely rebuy it if it came out again next christmas.
