Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Certain Dri
mcr29 6/8/2010 6:14:00 PM
This stuff has changed my life! Before I used this my pits would get moist for no reason - even when I wasn't hot and I'd get big wet pit stains (forget about silk). I don't think my armpits have even gotten moist since using this, and odor has been reduced significantly too. I only apply crystal deodorant in the morning, and this stuff is not high power by any means. On the downside, it does itch for about an hour after putting it on (which is a real pain when you're trying to sleep). Also, the applicator lets a little too much drip out and it takes a few minutes to dry, but overall I'd take itchy pits any day over embarrassing underarm wetness. I will definitely repurchase.

Eyeliner -E.L.F. - Cream Eyeliner - All Colors
mcr29 4/13/2010 3:08:00 PM
Overall, I am very impressed - although, at only $3 it doesn't take much. I got this liner in brown or coffee as I believe E.L.F. calls it. It a matte medium brown with a creamy consistency and applies well with no streaking or flaking. The color impact could be a bit better, but It's buildable if you want a more dramatic line. So far so good with wear. I've had it on 7 hours now and no sign of smudging or flaking. All in all it's a good value for the money and I would consider buying more if the color choices improve.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Basic Red Pigment
mcr29 1/29/2010 10:48:00 AM
This is just as the name indicates "basic red." Its a true red with no obvious blue or orange leanings. It looks surprisingly nice as an eyeshadow and doesn't pull fushcia like other red looking eyeshadows (Im talking to you UD Heat). The best way to use it though is as a lipcolor. I mix it with MAC matte or any silicone primer will do (like Smashbox) to make a matte lipstick/stain that stays on a really long time and has an almost soft-focus finish (i.e. not harsh like an actual lipstick). I haven't tried it as a blush yet, but I'm sure a tiny bit would work to give a vibrant flush to the cheeks. I wish this stuff were easier to acquire, because i will definitely be buying more.

Lotions/ Creams -Crabtree & Evelyn - Naturals In-Shower Moisturizer--Olive,Avocado&Basil
mcr29 1/27/2010 2:16:00 PM
When I saw this at the store, I thought it was such a novel product, and since Im usually too lazy to put on lotion after I get out of the shower, I picked it up. It has the thickness of a body butter coming out of the tube and is more likely to stick to your palm than spread easily over your body. With vigorous rubbing, you will manage to get it to stick to your body, albeit uneven and globby. Then you are supposed to rinse (check for globs still sticking after the initial rinse) and you're supposed to be all soft then. Not so, I didn't feel that it left my skin any softer than it was before my shower. A previous reviewer commented that you're supposed to apply this to dry skin, which would likely work better, but that defeats the purpose, doesn't it? Not to mention that the scent is too kitcheny and not something I want my body smelling like. I will not be repurchasing this.

Blush -Smashbox - Double Exposure Lip & Cheek Color in Double-Time
mcr29 1/27/2010 2:09:00 PM
I've never seen the double exposure cream blush available separately, only in special kits for QVC or Ulta, but I recommend this stuff if you come across it. This shade is a bright rosy majenta that sheers to a just-in-from-the-cold flush on the cheeks, but remains a true bright pink-majenta shade on the lips. It wears well on both the cheeks and the lips, but is a bit drying on the lips (but does remain creamy and doesn't dry down like a stain), so I recommend pairing it with lip balm. I like to wear it both on the cheeks and lips at the same time, because obviously, it matches to well and goes great with a taupey eye and lots of mascara for a youthful, pretty, but still natural look.

Eye Shadow -Vincent Longo - Wet Diamond Eyeshadow Quad - Aquila
mcr29 10/2/2009 12:32:00 PM
I want to love this, but I just can't. Firstly it's very cool (I'm warm) and OTT shimmery/glittery (with fallout). The colors look beautiful in the pan - a cream champagne, turquoise (like MAC aquadisiac), orange sorbet and a mid-tone purple. Upon applying all four shades, I now realize they are Mardi Gras colors and am glad its not Fat Tuesday and I'm not in New Orleans. The colors form little rounded bubbles in the pan (baked presumably) and have poor payoff when applied dry. However, the color is very bold when applied wet or over UDPP. All in all, it's a fun color combo, but it just doesn't work for someone of my age (26) and skintone (warm - NC20).

Eye Shadow -Prescriptives - Upick Eyeshadow
mcr29 8/14/2009 10:46:00 AM
I went a picked up 4 of these when Px had their last friends and family sale. I was really disappointed. Mind you, all the shades i got (espresso, mocha, blackberry and mauve) are matte. Their shimmer e/s may be better, as it is hard to come by a decent matte, but anyway.. These eyeshadows go on very splotchy and don't blend to save their lives (UDPP or not). Also, in only a few hours, they crease. I suppose they are pigmented enough, but who wants pigments when you have splotches. Secondly, I got the u-pick compact to put these in. I've had this for nigh on 4 months and the magnets are falling off the palette - causing the pans to fall out. Major disappointment and I will not be repurchasing.

Top/Base Coats -Essie - Protein Base Coat
mcr29 7/23/2009 9:58:00 AM
If this were a bare bones base coat, I suppose it would be doing its job at keeping my nails from staining, but that's all it does. I've been using this for every manicure for about the past 6 months and it has done nothing to improve the condition of my nails as they are still just as brittle and prone to peeling as before. Also, it does very little in the way of keeping polish from chipping. It makes a manicure last a bit longer than nothing at all, but is no better than any other base out there. On the up side, it does dry quickly and has a nice nude color if you wanted to go without polish on top, but I will not be repurchasing.

Moisturizers -Bioderma - Sebium AKN
mcr29 7/16/2009 12:22:00 PM
Let me start with the fact that my skin has gone haywire in the past 2 years. I've tried everything to try and get rid of the constant pimples that were now cropping up on my cheeks in addition to their old standby, my T-zone. I picked this up on a whim (along with the Sebium AI) on a recent trip to europe and it has done wonders for my skin. Firstly, it doesn't dry my skin out (every acne treatment drys my skin out). I use this at night as the texture (kinda slimey) is not conducive to makeup application (I use AI for day). My skin is not perfect now, but at least 95% improved and new pimples are minimal. In addition it seems to have helped with the redness I was experiencing from previous acne treatments. The only downside; I live in the US and must pay $40 to ship the $11.35 bottle to me. Oh well, its still worth it if i buy in bulk. I recommend you try this line if you can get your hands on it.

Eye Shadow -Guerlain - Exotic Paradise Eyeshadow Quad
mcr29 7/14/2009 3:29:00 PM
Guerlain you did it to me once again. I saw the gorgeous silver engraved palette and fell instantly in love. They went all out on this one, putting shimmery green overspray over the 4 colors to make sure I'd drop $58. Well in the pan, the colors are very pretty. There's an orange melba shade, a bright pink, a limey green and a shimmery coppery brown. But, boy are they sheer and oh so powdery. I'm wearing it as a I write and other than the brown, can't detect a hint of color past the wee bit of pink on my lower lids and I did not go lightly with this. As an upside, it hasn't creased yet (7 hours and counting), but a major dissapointment for all that money.

Lipstick -Besame - Enchanting Lipstick in Portrait Pink
mcr29 7/9/2009 4:27:00 PM
I'm not generally a fan of pink lippies, but this one is really pretty. It's a matte, opaque, perfect pink (more whitish than peachy or magenta, if that makes sense). It has a 60s vibe due to the finish and color. It has the same staying power of all Besame lipsticks, which is pretty long, and feels creamy on the lips. I would purchase again.

Makeup Brushes -Smashbox - Arched Liner #21
mcr29 7/7/2009 5:10:00 PM
It's ok for a fine line, but the tip is a bit hairy, i.e. bristles poke out on all sides. Also, maybe I'm doing it wrong, but boy does this itch/sting/hurt when i tightline or do my waterline with this. A flat brush like NARS smudge brush is more comfortable for this. So its ok, not great. There are likely better bent eyeliner brushes out there.

Eye Shadow -Chantecaille - Protect Paradise Eye Compact
mcr29 4/23/2009 1:38:00 PM
This is one eyeshadow that is beautiful in the pan and on the eyes. There are three main shades once you get through the overspray; a sheer peachy highlighting shade, a semi-sheer turqoise blue with brown/gold undertones (yes thats a mouthful, but trust me, its a unique color), and a bright turquoise, almost cerulean blue shade. They are all shimmery, but still subtle and grown-up looking. They blend like a dream and last all day. The palette is ginormous, so it will last forever and there are two very nice mini brushes in a secret compartment under the makeup. Very nice!

Lipstick -Clinique - Moisture Sheer Lipstick - TENDER MAUVE
mcr29 3/13/2009 5:53:00 PM
Over the years I have amassed a huge array of lippies, so many sit unused for a while. I chose this one today and am happy I did. The color is a true mauve, maybe a tiny on the brown side. It wears very well and seems to be truly moisturizing. The shade looks great with my NC25 skin and I might just repurchase should a tempting GWP come along.

Mascara -Vincent Longo - The Curl Mascara in Black
mcr29 3/13/2009 5:48:00 PM
This mascara is just ok. It does look nice upon application with feathery lashes and decent curl. They do tend to droop over the course of the day, though. I was not wowed by this product and will not be repurchasing.
