Concealers -Artdeco - Camouflage Stick #5 Sahara Rose
mcorreia 9/27/2012 3:35:00 PM
I'm reviewing this as a water line pencil not as concealer, I explain: for a long time I've been looking for a flesh tonned soft pencil for the water line (white is too much for my taste), so a couple of days ago I was watching Youtube videos and this m/u artist used a pencil concealer for this *genious* How come I had never thought of this?!! I looked at sephora and there was nothing of this kind (I'm sure Shiseido used to have something alike). Then at Artdeco counter I found it under the form of a chubby waterproof concealer pencil OMG this was it, exactly what I need, even shade #5 flesh tonned is perfect and the fact that is WP makes it perfect for my purpose. It costs around 12 €. http://img.makeupalley.com/1/7/1/4/2321696.JPG
Treatments -Orly - Cutique - Stain & Cuticle Remover
mcorreia 8/10/2012 5:15:00 PM
I have to confess I was skeptical because the cuticle removers I tried so far all failled including Mavala one. But little did I know when I ordered this online, tried it today on my toes and OMG this saved me at least 15 minutes, before I used damp cotton to moisten the cuticles and waitted and waitted and waitted, this only took 2 minutes and dang(!) the extra skin came off like magic (used my precious metal Tweezerman Pushy cuticle pusher). I got a great clean job which I totally didn't get with the cotton/cuticle trimmer method. HG!!!
Fragrances -Giorgio Armani - Code Summer 2012 for Women
mcorreia 8/3/2012 4:15:00 PM
Funny I reviewed Mustela Musti baby fragrance years ago asking for an adult version for it, well GA Code Summer it's just that, even my co-worker commented it reminds of baby smell. This is also along the lines of D&G Light Blue and The One but in a much better and refined version. I smell lemon, peach and watermelon so yes this is a very fresh fragrance but there's a trace of vanilla too. Considering it's a 75 ml bottle, I think the elongated shape and the fact that it's light, makes it very convenient for carrying on the bag. It lasts for hours too which is great considering it's a EDT! Great for day wear.
I'm shocked at how much I love this e/s. I got the chance of picking a CK Tempting Glance e/s as a free gift at StrawberryNet after making a purchase there, and picked Best Brown based on reviews here, and it as a damn good call! So so gorgeous on my brown eyes and NC30 skin. I'd say this is a medium brown with golden redish undertones. The texture is very soft and pigmentation is quite good. I do have a bunch of e/s but do not have any like this, Mac Texture is along the same lines being lighter but I'm not sure it's good as an all over product (don't get me wrong, it's amazing for defining, HG!). They may actually be great together and I will try this. I use it on its own all over lid up to crease and on the lower lash line (here I use a smudging brush) with Clinique Chocolate Lustre Cream Shaper on water line, I get a super sultry look. Too bad the applicator is ridiculous as it's too short, still 5*****
This gives me lovely and voluptuous lips. The texture is pretty amazing, opaque, very creamy and moisturizing and it keeps this texture for as long as I have it on. On my pigmented lips it's a deep berry rose, sometimes I tone it done by applying a bit of concealor first, but I like it either way really.
Foundations -Clarins - Instant Smooth Foundation (mousse)
mcorreia 12/3/2011 12:39:00 PM
I got this from a swap and it stood sit for a long time on my drawer until I found out I hadn't use the right application method: instead of fingers I tried using Sephora Professional Stippling brush et voilá! I love it, gives such beautiful, flawless and velvety finish to my skin, the mousse texture is so comfortable and doesn't make me shiny actually a liquid form foundation is more prone to making that. It lasts all day long on me (combination/oily T zone) and it doesn't sit on my pores at all. I find the finish to be quite similar to Estee Lauder Ideal Matte Mousse foundation. The only cons are the colors I'm Mac NC30 and #04 is the closest but the color itself is not very natural and I'm not too crazy about the scent either, hence the 4**** rating. Otherwise I highly recommend it!
Lotions/ Creams -Clarins - After Sun Moisturizer Ultra Hydrating
mcorreia 10/8/2011 10:33:00 AM
I absolutely love this, even got a comment of someone after touching my harm on how smooth my skin is! It calms skin so welll after sun exposure as well as the itchy feeling. It sinks in perfectly, it is not greasy and leaves no residue; it's like you applied nothing. I'm not crazy about the scent upon application but once it sets I adore it, just like soap, great smell of clean skin. I repurchased it to apply during winter!
Looking for the perfect neutral warm palette? Look no more, actually don't even bother with the infamous Urban Decay Naked Palette, I felt having FoolProof I totally didn't need the latest. The 4 e/s are perfect, the quality is outstanding, they vary from the light champagne shade to the dark brown and I find myself making a quick and effective neutral look using all the 4 shades, each color makes sense and plays perfectly with the other 3 so to speak. I realy like UD e/s but these are even better!
Wow this is striking on my brown eyes / NC30 complexion! The color is the most blendable/buttery gorgeous shade of purple-ish grey. I'd say very Kim Kardashian-ish. I use it with Mercury metallic e/s all over the brow bone and inner corners and tighligne with Black Ebony cake e/s using ELF e/l brush (both also from Laura Mercier). A must have for all "bed eye looking" fans out there LOL
Eye Shadow -Laura Mercier - Eye Colour Duo in Violet
mcorreia 4/1/2011 4:52:00 PM
Wow I couldn't agree more with the rating of this duo, it will beat any other violet duo I've seen before. I have brown eyes and NC30 skin and as other reviewer said while this isn't super pigmented, it gives a wonderful subtle violet smokey eye. I use the lighter shade all over the lid and crease and blend towards the brow, then apply quite a bit of the darker shade in the crease and lower lash line, and black eyeliner. It's amazing and the quality it's unquestionable, I also love how elegant ther package is. It may look blue-ish under certain lights but either way it's a winner.
I got this because Chloe 2008 is a fragrance for lifetime, reviews here were great and the first snif on the counter felt great. Ended up buying it on line for a fraction of the price that it'd cost me on the counter (it is pricey!). It is powdery, it does reminds of HE cosmetics scent specially pressed powder. It also reminds me of the smell of when you snif the inside of a cigar pack, also reminds me of roasted chestnuts. Yep all of this. It is a very elegant perfume I should say, proper for grown up ones and perfect for work environment. I wouldn't call it sexy. The bottle is the most beautiful one I've ever seen, I feel really fancy pulling it out of my purse LOL. I may get tired of it eventually because it is so powdery. Therefore I won't probably buy it again.
Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Nails Inc - Kensington Conditioning Hand Cream
mcorreia 12/4/2010 6:38:00 PM
I started using Nails Inc. hand cream 1 year ago (the first one I got was called Parliament Vitamin C Hand Cream which I think is now d/c). I noticed my hands were starting to get wrinkley just below the rist area which was worst on my right hand because of the daily motion with pc/mouse. So randomly I picked Nails Inc.. Well 1 year after I can honestly say the wrinkles are gone! This cream is absolutely divine and while it is so light leaving no trace of greasy whatsoever (all you need is just a minute to make it sink into skin), it gives an immediate feeling of comfort and it moisturizes perfectly. The only thing I don't love about it is the scent but I can survive. It's also not cheap, a 100 ml tube will cost me 18,75 € in Hqhair. Ingredients: luxury caviar extract, vitamins A, C & E & collagen boosting ingredientes. What it promises: intensive firming hand cream to help reduce the appearance of fine lines http://www.hqhair.com/medias/sys_master/public/8645188052560080.jpg
I agree this is 100 times better than Seche Vite (SV started to get sticky like glue even before half of it was gone and right after it was impossible to use it!). Mavadry applies easily, the texture has never changed (and I'm nearly in the end of the bottle), it gives a perfect and protective glossy shield to the nailpolish making it last so much longer than with a regular top coat; besides it makes nailpolish dry so fast. I use it: either after the saloon manicure (wow what a difference! It totally resurrects the nailpolish) or when I do my own manicure at home I'll never be able to go without this!
Liquid -Make Up For Ever - Mat Velvet PLUS Matifying Foundation
mcorreia 7/17/2010 3:45:00 PM
My second foundation from MUFE ( I was so amazed with HD that decided to try this one too) and I have to say I'm hooked! LOVE LOVE LOVE it: the texture, the high coverage (you can built it to opaque if you wish), the packaging, the velvety effect, well basically everything. I'm NC30 in Mac and I got this in #35 which is a great match for me. It doesn't stay matte for long on very hot days but then no other I've tried does that (the waterproof factor is not true imo); nevertheless it hangs in there all day long. For reference I have combination acne prone (can't tolerate oils) but not sensitive at all and my HG foundation is Estee Lauder Double Wear and I find the 2 extremely close.
Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Alpha-H Anti Aging Kit
mcorreia 6/4/2010 5:50:00 PM
Alpha-H is an Australian brand and among others it includes this amazing anti-aging treatment. It includes: 1) A hydrating cleansing lotion that removes all face and eye make-up; 2) A daily moisturiser with a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sun block SPF30+; 3) A powerful botanical serum which can be added into day and night; 4) Liquid Gold firming lotion; 5) A Rejuvenating Cream with Vitamin C I have combination acne prone skin and none of these items has irritated my skin nor caused any breakouts (not even the oil and oils do break me out!). Also my skin is used to AHA's and acids since 2006 which have performed a true miracle in my skin (they fixed my acne, peeling and uneven skin for good), but this kit has improved it even more, my skin is smoother and pores more refined. I recommend this to anyone above 35/40 that want a serious and effective anti-aging treatment. The kit is a bargain as you get an entire line for a fraction of the price if you were to buy them separately. http://www.hqhair.com/medias/sys_master/public/8662876505810704.jpg
