Wow .. not too keen on spending a fortune on Chanel etc.. that do this 'ox blood' color so picked it up (with a few other colors) from the covergirl stand. Super impressed with them all but this one is a beaut ! I could almost get away with just 1 coat of this on my toes and nothing else (but i do use seche vite top coat cos its gorgeous and glossy). 10/10 for covergirls formulation and this colour is spot on for the upcoming Melbourne winter. Better pick up a spare because once word gets out this one might be hard to find : )

Foundations -Cover Girl - Covergirl and Olay Tone Rehab 2 in 1 Foundation

I quite like this. I got it fairly cheap on sale for $10 aus (normaly around the $22 mark) Unfortunately the colors are so limited out here in Austalia that the shade i did pick up 142 med beige will be more suited to my winter skin tone. I am a NW30 so i hunted around on ebay for a better shade option and came up with soft honey 155. I took a punt and bought it and it suits my slightly tanned summer skin tone quite well. A tiny touch too orange but not the worst. I tone it down a bit with my Ben Nye banana powder and its great. Texture is nice , a bit moussey but not so heavy as Maybelline dream mousse which i used for ages until i just found it too mask like on my face. I would buy it again, but not at the $22 price mark. $10 - $15 is a good fair price for this makeup. Great pump packaging too ! EDIT *** upgraded to 5 starts .. actually really loving this foundation. Went back and bought some more colours (colours in Australia are so limited that I've had to blend 2 different ones) I had already previously purchased Medium Beige so I got the darkest one out here Golden Tan and mixed the two and this gives a great yellow toned colour that matches my tanned NW30 complexion perfectly ! woo hoo !! And I got them for $10 a pop so that's a bonus ! I've been using this all week and find that it gives great coverage but still lets my skin thru.. I guess what im saying is its not like a 'mask' ! Try this one out girls !!

Polishes -Essie - Neo-Whimsical

im so in love with this color ... gorgeous pinky lilac (leans more pink) .. very similar to a discontinued Maybelline color called Purplink so was very happy to find this. Looks awesome with a tan on fingers and/or toes. Formula is ok ... not watery but a little streaky so i needed 3 coats. This is a bit of a drawback but won't stop me repurchasing ... the uniqueness of the color will mean i'll definately buy another bottle when this one is finished.

this is rapidly becoming an all time fav for me. I love my nudes but was quite sick of the pale pinks and beiges. Thought i'd give this one a whirl cos i'm a sucker with a polish that has background iridescence. Man am i in love !! This is wasy to apply , looks great on pale or tanned skin and gives a lovely polished finish (by polished i mean elegant and very very pretty). I guess for me this is the equivalent to 'my nails but better' . Love Love Love !

BB Cream -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector for Combination to Oily Skin - Light
rated 5 of 5
matt44bek 10/2/2012 1:50:00 AM

aaahhhhh... thats better ... so much better than your first BB effort Garnier (which i threw in the bin after 2 uses incidentally). This is what i have been looking for in a BB cream. Something for my inconsistent skin tone on those 'im not leaving the house days but dont want a face full of makeup". Having said that i would quite happily wear this with a bit of concealer in place of many foundations i've tried even on a 'getting out of the house' day. Medium suits my NW30 tone quite well (definately not as orange as the Medium from the original BB cream which was ghastly). Actually both the light and the medium were more yellow in their tonings although even at my Wintery best the light would still be too fair for me. Consistency is fluid, light & runny and blends into the skin well leaving a lovely uniformity without the disco ball sheen that came with the original BB cream. I probably didnt even need to set with powder but i did the T-zone anyway. I'm wrapped with this product and will happily repurchase. $14 Aus which is fine by me .

Concealers -L'Oreal - Magic Lumi

oh well, i know this has only so so reviews on here but i love it. Apart from the exorbitant Australian price (buy it on ebay girls !) i think its a lovely light formulation that makes my eyes and my face look awake and bright. The formula doesn't drag and crepe and with a light dust of powder it has excellent staying powder. The colors are a bit off (light fair and medium all being far too light i think) but i bought it in Dark which has nice gold undertones. I am in my mid 30s and my normal everyday concealers were just becoming too heavy and obvious looking so i was looking for something much lighter in consistency. I have quite dark circles and find this does a good job at concealing them but if i need a touch more coverage then i just use a small dab of my other concealer on top. I'll definately be buying this again, as long as I can find it for a dectn price on ebay ! I'm a NW30 by the way !

Concealers -Collection 2000 - Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer
rated 5 of 5

Gotta say I'm pretty happy with this. It will be a good replacement for my stash thats fast running out of Maybelline everfresh concealer. I bought all colors except the lightest one (fair). I am NW30 amd Light (2) is good for around the nose and under eyes whereas medium (3) is a good allover color. Medium is perhaps a toucher lighter than my everfresh medium beige but certainly in the same color family (all be it not quite as yellow). On my hand however when you compare the two the Collection 2000 one oxidises slightly (not in a bad orange way but just a bit darker than when u first apply it). Dark (4) is just a touch too dark but much more of a yellow base which i prefer so ill probably do a bit of shade blending with all 3 colors to use them up. Consistency is reasonably thick and almost powder like, not too liquidy at all and it blends like a dream. Des it last 16 hours ? probably not but ive never really come across any makeup that lasts that long so its not really a concern for me. Does it last well (6-8 hours) yes, i think it does. Not available in Australia, i'll be sourcing mine off ebay (as usual) but now that I have the colors worked out ill be able to buy in bulk next time, in preparation for that inevitable day when the company discontinues it (sob).

Concealers -Maybelline - Dream Lumi Touch
rated 5 of 5
matt44bek 2/4/2012 8:53:00 PM

This is hands down the best under eye concealer I have ever used... and with my dark circles I have tried them all !!! I am NC30 and I use sand..it has a nice pale yellow tinge and never ever gives me the dreaded panda eye look. Just leaves my tired eyes looking refreshed and bright. The formulation is lovely... it doesnt drag the undereye skin area and whilst it isnt really a thick consistency it does cover extremely well, whilst still looking very natural. I dont use it on blemishes because it does have that slight highlighting effect and I dont really want to be 'highlighting' or drawing attention to my imperfections ! I am already stockpiling , waiting for the dreaded day when stupid Maybelline decide to discontinue this line (as they always do ... dear makeup gods please bring back everfresh concealer in medium beige !!) Anyway A ++++ rating from me... its hard to find those holy grail products but trust me girls ... this ones a keeper !

Moisturizers -Trilogy - Age Proof Replenishing Night Cream
rated 4 of 5
matt44bek 12/22/2011 4:35:00 PM

I really like this cream. Its lovely and thick without being greasy. I have combo skin and this sinks straight in without any residue. I use all the age proof line (i'm 35+ unfortunately) and whilst I havent noticed a great deal of improvement in radiance or lines etc.... I think the range is consistent and pleasant to use without causing major havoc to my sensitive skin.

Self Tanners -Trilogy - Instant Bronzing Gel
rated 1 of 5
matt44bek 12/22/2011 4:31:00 PM

Have to say I'm not happy with this product at all. I don't find it all buildable .. its actually quite dark on my fair-medium skin after one application .. and that would be ok except that it is STREAKY dark. No matter what i do or where i put it (arms or legs) this streaks every time for me and looks horrible and patchy. Agreed, it does dry super fast but for me it leaves a very sticky feeling and actually makes my skin look dry and aged. I have tried them all (fake tans) and will go back to my St.Tropez or my Garnier fake tan products. I must say I use all of trilogys other products and find them to be wonderful but this one is just a miss for me.

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Ego - QV Gentle Wash Re-Hydrate
rated 5 of 5
matt44bek 11/1/2011 5:59:00 PM

I had to find a new cleanser as my old NS21 was increasingly hard to find at shops. I used to use the old QV wash for my easily aggravated skin but I like to have one that lathers a little to remove my makeup and the original wash does not lather at all. However.....was lurking in the aisles of my local priceline and the Rep for Ego happened to be there and ask if I needed help. She then proceeded to tell me that the Gentle wash does indeed lather (not masses of bubbles mind you but still pretty decent) and it does an excellent job of cleaning off my makeup withougt stripping my skin dry or leaving an oily film/residue. Dirt cheap ($19 for 1 litre), this will last for ages. Basic packaging but it has a pump which is really all you need. And seriously, who cares about packaging when the product is so good. I have always preffered Ego QV and associated products over Cetaphil. In price and packaging they are very comparable but I just prefer the formultion of all the QV range. Sometimes simple is best.

Fragrances -Jo Malone - Nectarine Blossom and Honey
rated 5 of 5
matt44bek 11/1/2011 4:26:00 AM

This is my 'signature' scent, my absolute go to fragrance that I always get comments on from both men & women. Its lovely & soft and a little sweet but not over powering at all. My only complaint I guess would be the lasting power , which is not that great...but I also have the body cream so when I can be bothered I just layer the cream with the fragrance. I've lost count of how many bottles of this I have bought. I quite often buy off ebay from overseas because it's so much cheaper than Australian prices. Love Love Love Jo Malone.

Lipstick -Clinique - Chubby Stick (all shades)
rated 3 of 5
matt44bek 11/1/2011 4:22:00 AM

I got the christmas gift pack of these to spoil myself.... 4 slightly smaller versions of the original in a silver gift bag for $58 AU . Wish I'd tried them out first. Guess I was expecting them to be like the Nars equivalent except that the Nars ones are much lovlier and more glossy. That was my main gripe with the clinique ones. Whilst the texture is nice, the color goes on quite matte and i find myself putting a nice gloss on top to get the shiny look. Kind of defeats the purpose ..... they're OK but i doubt I'll reach for them all that often and I won't be repurchasing.

Tinted Moisturizer -Aveeno - positively radiant
rated 3 of 5
matt44bek 11/1/2011 3:33:00 AM

I wish I'd read some reviews here before purchasing (but it was on sale and i needed a tinted moisturizer). I am so on the fence with this one. The medium (as others before have mentioned) is way too light... i am wondering if it throws a "whitish" cast on the face due to the sunscreen ingredients. However i quite like the formulation, thickness and even though it is too pale going on it seems to adapt to my skin tone and actually give decent coverage for red areas. It does make my skin look more "radiant" as the package suggests. I am not sure about pore clogging yet (haven't used it long enough) but I wouldnt be surprised if it happens because my skin is stupidly sensitive. It can also feel a little 'stingy' on the face , particularly if i've exfoliated before hand. All in all, whilst I dont hate this product, I don't think I'll be re-purchasing.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Colour Riche Le Gloss
rated 5 of 5
matt44bek 10/30/2011 4:23:00 AM

These are lovely super shiny glosses. I always go for the ones with shimmer in them so the four i have are nude illusion (a very pale tan with gold infused fleck), nude touch ( a coolish mid pink), golden splash ( a birght coral, tangerine although goes on very wearable) and saucy mauve ( a gorgeous warm berry shade and my very fav. of the lot). They feel very smooth on your lips and not at all tacky. Like all glosses you need to reapply but thats to be expected really. Pretty cheap off ebay (not even out in Aust. stores yet, although I'm sure they'll be grossly over priced when they reach our shores). Might explore some more colors although i think most of the rest are more opaque and without much shimmer.
