Loose Powders -Laura Mercier - Secret Brightening Powder
materialface 5/16/2013 2:16:00 PM
I purchased this a few years ago. repurchased it one more time before i didn't bother buying agian. With that said, this is a fairly good product for ladies who have extremely dark hereditory dark circles and under eye area. This is a finely milled powder with some particles that create a sheen under the eyes to make them appear more awake and brighter. I'm sold on the idea and concept of this because of my dark circles. the powder really set my concealer and it completely softened my under eye area. this helped my concealer not to crease. this comes in a small tub but u really only need a bit for each use since your only covering a small area. People who don't have issues with dark circles do NOT need this.

Conditioner -Organix - Moroccan Argan Oil Renewing Treatment
materialface 5/7/2013 11:33:00 AM
I had high hopes for this conditioner. I will never buy it agian. I've never been so disappointed with a conditioner before. I do have the oil and dry oil spray of this line and both worked fine, but this conditioner is HORRIBLE. I used this only once, but with conditioners, I know after one wash if it improves my hair. Actually, while your washing the conditioner out of your hair you just know if it works by the texture of your hair. - I put a good amount of this conditioner in my hair (only from the ears down), focusing on my ends of course. i felt like the product evaporated or something, felt like there was nothing in my hair. I even put a bit more in my hair and it felt the same. I let it sit in my hair for a minute and rinsed it out, and it felt NO DIFFERENT from before I put the conditioner. - it did NOT soften my hair, didn't detangle it, didn't feel silky. It felt like it dried my hair out. - any and all conditioners i have tried have at least made my hair feel silky and soft. didn't matter what brand. this conditioner was a true disappointment - mind you, after i washed this conditioner out, I put some of my Clear scalp & hair therapy conditioner in because my hair didn't feel conditioned. - my hair was very difficult to brush through while blow-drying after using this. - the price point of these conditioners are high for drugstore. But i figured i'd try it after having the other moroccon argan oil products of the line. do yourself a favour and do NOT purchase this.

Treatments -Garnier - Fructis Triple Nutrition Detangling Double Care Treatment
materialface 5/1/2013 10:05:00 AM
(this review is for the original spray, the yellow-toned one. not the pink one for colored hair as referenced in the photo above) I was looking for a detangler and/or leave-in while I was at wal-mart. I was in a bit of a rush, and this one caught my eye, mainly because of the product duo-color and packaging. I read the label and it seemed promising. After I went home I saw the great reviews so I was excited to use it. I have long asian straight hair, and currently my ends are dry because I'm overdue for a hair trim. - I honestly don't remember the price of this because Garnier hair products are always inexpensive so I just grabbed it. I'm assuming its approx. $4.00 CAD. You get a lot of product for the price. I used and loved Garnier hair products when I was in high-school. Its affordable for everyone - Its a small detail, but what I love the most is the spray nozzle. I've bought and used a lot of hair spray products with nozzles that break, start to get clogged, and end up not being able to spritz anymore. But so far so good with this one. the spray nozzle sprays EVENLY and EASILY. - this detangler/leave-in conditioner did exactly what it says. I sprayed this thoroughly through my hair and towel wrapped my hair for about 10 minutes. I took my Goody microfibre brush and blow dried my hair upsdie down. It really did untangle my hair. My hair dried faster than most days. - After drying my hair, I was left with soft hair and it no longer looks as dry. - I LOVE this spray and will be using this every other day since thats when I wash my hair.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous in Pink Pop
materialface 4/30/2013 2:54:00 PM
hands down, my favorite drugstore lipgloss. Holy grail product. I've been buying this gloss for the past 4 years or so, its not a new product to me. Pink Pop in particular is a GORGEOUS color. Peach petal is another popular revlon gloss. - this gloss is not sticky like MAC glosses can be sometimes - has no heinus scent like the colorburst glosses, i think thats what their called. pink pop has a very subtle sweet scent that reminds me of brown sugar. - the packaging is so classy and sleek. it looks high end. - I wish the tube was a bit bigger, but I've had mine for years and i have yet to run out. - pink pop will look good on any skin tone. don't be scared of the bright pink in the bottle. its not at all an in-your-face color once you put it on. its somewhat a milky hot pink if it makes sense. it makes your lips look and feel healthy and supple, and theres no cheap sheen like some other drugstore lipglosses. - these are matte milky glosses for the most part, except for peach petal which has some shimmer in it. - price point of about $6.00 CAD is amazing. I will continue to purchase this forever and ever.

Masks -Freeman - Facial Clay Mask - Mint & Lemon
materialface 4/30/2013 11:15:00 AM
Like everyone else below me, I am VERY impressed and 'wow'd' by this mask. This mask is the perfect one among the other freeman masks, which i'm going to try anyways. the lemon & mint one is for oily skin and t-zone, which has me written all over it. unfortunately, only 1 travel sized packet was left at the wal-mart i went to. I am on a hunt to find the full sized bottle. hopefully i wont have a problem finding more. pros: - dries quickly and doesn't sting like i was expecting it to - the color is quite pleasant. reminds me of Tiffany blue lol - the travel sized packet has quite a lot of product in it. I could probably get 4-5 uses out of it. I only applied this in my t-zone and cheeks evenly. my outer cheeks and sides didn't need any. - the price of these masks are amazing. $3.99 for full bottle, $1.50 for packet - what made me LOVE this is that I had a white head pimple on my upper lip that was brewing and getting worse, the next morning (today), not only did it shrink, but the redness is GONE. it's completely dried out and in the healing process with the help of nothing else but this mask!!! AMAZING. will be using this as a spot treatment when i need it. Not even my Origins clay mask gets rid of my pimples. cons: NONE IM. SOLD. and you should be too. if you have an oily t-zone. you NEED this.

Polishes -L'Oreal - Tangerine Crush
materialface 4/30/2013 11:04:00 AM
This was my first l'oreal nail polish. I never turned to l'oreal for nail polishes. always went for revlon, in terms of drugstore. i couldn't decide between tangerine crush and 2 other similar colors, but went for this one because I liked that it looked like a milky muted orange, which I don't have in my collection. I have a bright tangerine OPI polish and wanted a more subtle one. pros: - I put 2 coats on in bed, and went to sleep maybe 20 mins afterwards. in the morning, my nails were shiny with no lines or creases from falling asleep. this ALWAYS happens to me, but I was impressed that my nails dried quickly! - the shine and sheen that the polish gives is impressive. I did put a base coat, but with other polishes, a topcoat is necessary. I could go without a topcoat with tangerine crush. cons: - on my nails, it's brighter than what it looks like in the tube and what I thought. this wasnt what i wanted. i wanted a milkier orange.. on the hunt agian i go. - people may complain about the small bottle, so i guess that could be a con, but i dont mind. essie is a small bottle as well, just to compare. - i won't repurchase this color, but i'll be trying out other colors

Lips -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter in Sugar Plum
materialface 4/30/2013 10:54:00 AM
I bought sugar plum and pink truffle at the same time, and i like sugar plum a lot better. It is a muted berry colour with a little bit of pink in it, and adds a nice amount of sheen to your lips. Both lip butters that I purchased moisturize my lips nicely. I'm really impressed and in love with revlon for this HG lip product for us ladies. The color range is wide. I don't think sugar plum is one of the more popular colors, but its a nice lipstick to have in your collection for those days that you feel like having a berry lip.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter in Pink Truffle
materialface 4/30/2013 10:46:00 AM
Shoot me but, I thought this would be more "pink" in color. I love this for the fall/winter time. I am a fan of nude lipsticks with a hint/undertone of pink, which pink truffle is, in my opinion. This is a great everyday color for the office, very appropriate in color, adds sheen and moisture to your lips. my lips are naturally really red, so pink truffle looks more brown on my lips then it would for some other ppl. If you have discoloration on your lips, just do what i do, which is dab some concealer onto your lips to create a blank canvas. a creamy concealer is better so it doesn't dry your lips out.

Primer/ Corrector -Urban Decay - All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray
materialface 4/30/2013 10:36:00 AM
I was so happy that these sprays come in a smaller bottle. I found it in sephora's bins when I was in line. The tester they had was the De-Slick spray, which was what I wanted, but in the bin were the All-Nighter sprays so low and behold, I got the wrong spray. I really wanted the De-slick one because my t-zone is oily and my makeup melts especially on my nose. - The price of the travel sized bottle is O-K ($15 CAD) since I was happy they even came in a smaller size. - I will say that the All Nighter spray did NOT help keeping oil at bay. which is the reason why i think the De-slick will be better for me. - My makeup did stay put for a long time. Although it says all-nighter, I use this on a daily basis in the morning to set my makeup for the work day. - Allnighter spray gets the most points for allowing my eye makeup and concealer+powder to stay on my face and not on my glasses!! amazing. This is the reason i hated wearing glasses, because it would ruin my makeup, create a crease on my face where the glasses sit and my lenses would get dirty. but ever since I've been using all nighter spray, its been a life saver.

Moisturizers -Shiseido - Pureness Mattifying Moisturizer (Oil Free)
materialface 4/26/2013 2:13:00 PM
I used this last year during the spring-summer months. I purchased 2 bottles of this and then switched to a thicker moisturizer w/SPF when Fall came. I am pretty oily in my t-zone, normal everywhere else on my face, and this moisturizer worked fairly well on my skin. - Only use this if you are oily to extremely oily. This is a very "dry" moisturizer in the sense that you can see the powder particles in the bottle. I suggest you shake this before each use. - I love the pump packaging, however, I almost dropped this GLASS bottle and my heart stopped. That is one downfall of this moisturizer. - For a mattifying moisturizer, its ok i guess that there was no SPF content - 1 bottle lasts me about 3 months.

Treatments (Eye) -Origins - GinZing
materialface 4/23/2013 4:11:00 PM
I have yet to get over how expensive eye creams are. Ugh. However! the Origins sales ladies who help me are always nice and generous! I told her I was searching for an eye cream. I was curious to see how this one would improve my skin because the product seemed so promising. She recommended the "Eye Doctor" cream (honestly it did nothing for me but keep it moisturized) for a day & night eye cream, so i purchased that one, but she also gave me a sample size of the Ginzing eye cream! It wasn't one of those 1-time use samples, it was in a mini jar, same packaging, and i really appreciated it. I'm not mad that this product didn't do miracles for me cause I was fortunate to have a month's worth of sample product. It is a bit tinted and has a good amount of shimmer which gives the ILLUSION of brighter eye area. My issue with this is that it doesn't provide long-term skin benefits that would fade the darkness away. What i recommend is going to an Origins counter vs. Sephora. Be friendly, make convo, ask for some samples, and add yourself to their customer list. They call you to come back for FREE facials.

Toners -Origins - United State Balancing Toner
materialface 4/23/2013 3:56:00 PM
This isn't a holy grail toner, however, it did exactly what it says in the name "balancing". This is what I need in a toner. - I have combination skin: oily t-zone, normal cheeks, chin and sides of my face. - This did not dry my face out. I was able to keep the oilyness at bay, and lightly cleanse/tone my normal skin areas. - This did not cause my skin to feel tight whatsoever. - It had a light refreshing scent to it which was pleasent in the morning. - The bottle packaging is nothing spectacular although it did look nice on my shelf. The top however needs to be redesigned. The bottle twist cap is not secure enough and can easily be flimsy. I drop it constantly because its rounded and thin. There's no top filter on the bottle, so be careful. - I honestly think Origins' toners are a bit overpriced. Their facewashes are in the $26 CAD range, and toners are usually less expensive (?). Their toners are in the same price range but I think these should be priced at $20-$22. My personal opinion. - This lasts me about 2-2 1/2 months.

Cleansers -Aveeno - Positively Radiant Cleanser
materialface 4/23/2013 3:47:00 PM
This is a pretty basic, gentle face wash for sensitive skin. If you have normal skin, this might be too gentle for you. I used to use this religiously for a good two years before I discovered Origins Checks & Balances. I used this at night to cleanse my face when I was younger and I loved it. It was affordable and my skin needed something really gentle. Before I had my clarisonic mia2, I thought this wash lathered pretty well, but it doesn't seem to like my mia now that I've repurchased this after a few years of not using it. I have it in my cupboard and have only used it once or twice so far. However, I do like having this as a back-up for when I finish my Origins wash. I'll be using this when my skin is being extra sensitive and when I don't use my Clarisonic mia. I would recommend this to girls with sensitive skin with redness, blemishes, and all that good stuff because its super gentle yet it cleans your face well

Tinted Moisturizer -Tarte - Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Mosturizer (Smooth Operator)
materialface 4/23/2013 10:47:00 AM
first of all, am I the only one confused as to why there is "bb" AND "tinted moisturizer" in the name? lol. anyways, I asked for a sample of this at sephora a few months ago, and it made my skin look AMAZING, glowing, clear and evenly toned. my mom kept complimenting on how good my skin looked. - I'm in the color Light-Medium. I've held off on buying it because of the price, and because I fell so deeply in love with Covergirl's new 3 in 1 foundation and have been using it everyday for more than a month. - It is one of those products that give you the "no-makeup makeup look". This doesn't create a layer on your skin or cover it like foundation does. It enhances your skin and helps it to be even-toned. This will not cover blemishes so don't be surprised that this isn't full coverage. I do one light layer on my whole face, then I dot some of it on the areas where I need a bit more coverage (mostly redness in the centre of my face). - It absorbs quickly but is blendable. - Does not oxidize into a darker or lighter color. What's in the tube is its true pigment. - This lasts pretty long for me. AS long as it lasts me through the workday which it does, I'm happy. - the key disclaimers on the bottle are: 1) oil free 2) antioxidant rich formula 3) no parabens, mineral oil and a few other ingredients. If you're somewhat interested and curious about this product, I always recommend going to sephora, and asking for a sample of this. Also ask for comparable products as well to see which works best for you

Concealers -MAC - select cover-up
materialface 4/23/2013 10:33:00 AM
This is a good concealer for a few reasons. This isn't my favorite because I've tried other concealers that are much better (bobbi brown, maybelline dream lumi, revlon photoready, .the balm, laura mercier). pros: - good price point for the amount of product in the tube. I've had my current tube for a year now and i have 3/4 left. - packaging is nice and the squeeze tube is great because the hole is tiny to control how much you take out cons: - if you have bad under eye circles and heavy discoloration like me, this won't do much for you UNLESS you use a correcting concealer first (yellow or green) to cancel out the darkness. - this is a good spot treatment concealer for blemishes. the consistency is good so your blemishes aren't left looking cakey.
