I had a gift voucher, so I decided to try these out in Electric Blue and Black. They apply really nicely, I love the applicator style because it's super easy to use for those who aren't that experienced with liquid eyeliner and the pigmentation of both the colours was great- both were matte colours, not shiny, which I liked. However, the eyeliners definitely had some pretty serious problems. First of all, as soon as I applied it, it started burning til it had dried. This was really uncomfortable and made me worry about what it was doing to my skin. Secondly, it had no staying power. I'm not sure how the other reviewers found it long-lasting because if you even touched it gently it would smudge. When it dried, it kind of turned to powder that would go everywhere at the slightest touch. Overall, I really loved how they looked when applied but the staying power was terrible and I was always worrying my eyes looked like a mess, so I wouldn't re-buy it.
*I would have posted pics but I have no clue how to* This polish is currently one of my favourites, it's a dark red. In some lights darker blood red, in other lights straight up dark red. It has no shimmer and even without a topcoat I foudn it really glossy, whcih is a big plus because I'm pretty rushed with my at home manis and I occasionally skip a topcoat. Like most OPI's it has excellent wear, for me at least 5 days which is saying something because for almost every polish I have ever worn has chipped beyond recognition in the first two days! It completely flatters my skintone, which is...never been good t describing skintone. Let's just say in China people always comment on the paleness of my skin, but its still not exactly porcelain. I'm thinking pale but warm. Very striking polish, dark but not goth-y dark. Wearing it with Creative sticky basecoat and Creative topcoat, so far no chips and its been two days. *EDIT* forgot to mention I bought it for 118 rmb in Beijing.
Lip Gloss -Shiseido - Integrate Glamorous Rouge OR302
mascaraglosslippie 10/4/2008 5:55:00 AM
OR302 is a peachy pink with multicoloured shimmer that more adds luminosity than anything else. The packaging is a long sleek tube with black, silver and a transparent area to show how much is left. I find the silver areas get scratched off a little after some use, but its no biggie if you're not a control freak or something. If you're looking for high gloss shine, this isn't the lipgloss for you. This imparts a medium gloss sheen finish that's subdued but still makes your lips fuller looking as any gloss would. It's relatively sheer, but on my low pigmented lips it shows up nicely. The applicator is, unusually, a plastic spatula thing with a hole where the glos coozes out of. Spread it like a butter knife during application. The texture isn't sticky, more like a rich moistness and it's more of a gel formula, definitely not runny. Staying power is...medium. It's hard for me to tell because I'm a chronic lip licker and I ALWAYS mush my lips together when I have gloss on. With this gloss my lips never feel dry, the texture and formula leave them feeling moisturized. Overall this is a natural, mature gloss, I'd buy again in a different colour, on the website they have a few more brihgt and fun colours that loked interesting.
When I first discovered NYX nail polishes I was so excited because no polish had ever lasted more than a day on my nails (even expensive brands such as MAC), yet my first NYX polish lasted three, four days with minimal tip wear. My first colour was Tahitian, then Dancing Queen. They were both bright, fun long lasting colours. It started to go downhill starting with Paradise. It was a gorgeous colour, sure but it chipped within the first day. It was like before I discovered NYX. I put the problem down to the new formulation and bought Orchid. In the bottle it looks like an opaque, bright, hot pink fuschia cream. Ever optimistic, I thought it would take two coats at the most. Four coats. Took three hours to dry completely and when it was dry it was soft and peelable. It had so many nicks that in the end I had to remove it. I am quite hard on my hands, but even I don't expect it to be that bad. Never gonna buy again. On the plus side its a great toenail colour and since you don't look closeup at toenails the nicks are fine. That bumped it up to two lippies. So if you're looking for a toenail colour that doesn't need to immaculate then try it out. Otherwise stay far, far away.
This lipgloss is really reserved for disco and clubbing only, since it's so incredibly sparkly. The packaging is quite nice, a long tube, about two thirds of the tube is the cap, a long black plastic thing. The rest is clear, showing the true colour of the lipgloss. It is a sponge applicator and because of the long cap it is very comfortable to apply to your lips. Now the colour. Definitely not a daytime kinda look. Described as red gold, it's got a barely see-able (is that a word?) red base utterly swamped with- I think- gold, green and orange sparkles. Some fo you reading this may be cringing at the thought of so much glitter, but really out on a night (disco or clubbing) it makes your lips look goooood. Especially if you've got dry/flaky lips becasue it helped me camouflage that when I had a big night out coming up. Lifesaver. So, it migth not be for everyone but I like it. Still wouldn't wear it in the day though!
Highlighters -Bourjois - DéLICE DE POUDRE - ILLUMINATRICE
mascaraglosslippie 7/28/2008 10:30:00 AM
I am a glitter hater. Basically, shimmer or glitter anywhere other than my eyes really irritates me and I avoid highlighters, shimmery blushes/foundations/powder etc. like the plague. That's why I was so surprised when I actually liked a highlighting powder! For me this is perfection. I dust it across my cheekbones (or lack thereof), browbone, collarbone, shoulders etc. And it works. Not like High Beam which I've realised is *shudder* extremely shimmery after seeing it in natural light. It actually makes my skin look GOOD. It's kind of a light gold pearly colour and is super silky. It comes in a cardboard book thing which at first I thought was super cute then later I realised it was soo impractical. Think about it: cardboard. water. bashing. Plus it doesn't come with a mirror (I can live without it) or a brush (grrr..). Thats the reason its only 4 stars. Actualy I've got to confess, I didn't notice any scent! Well maybe thats just me.
This is my new HG e/l. It's a gorgeous bronzey metallic colour with lovely shimmer that won't fall all over your face! The texture is oh so creamy but if you leave it a few seconds it sets and once it sets it will not budge. Seriously. I got caught in a rainstorm and when I checked my reflection the liner was flawless. I don't really agree with the reviewers who said it was only for smudgy looks, it's easy to create a precise line. Also it never came off me either, with or without eye primer. That said, my lids aren't oily. Anyway, I picked up a bright blue kinda colour and it performed just as well so I think its worth getting one of those sets. I'd test the black first though, judging by the reviews. Fantastic eyeliner!
I got this as a gift from my auntie, who uses it religiously, however it isn't really my thíng. I squirted and this enormous glop of foundation landed in my hand, I dont use much so thats a problem, I ended up spreading the excess on my arm. Okay, once it was on my face it felt like I'd spread some kind of paste across my whole face, really uncomfortable ( i dont use foundation really) It made me kinda shiny-not dewy. Next time i tried it I mixed it with a make up for ever makeup base, high beam and moisturizer, my usual method and it worked like a charm. flawless skin with a glow. so if you're willing to tweak it a bit, i think it would be a great foundation!
I own both the EDT and the EDP, so I was amazed at how different they smelled to me. The EDP was gorgeous, at first it smelled waay to strong and masculine, but soon it turned into a lovely green scent. However, the EDT smelt terrible. Like a bad air freshener mixed with bug spray. Just didn't work.
Eyeliner -Bourjois - Regard Effet Metallise - 54 Bleu Clinquant
mascaraglosslippie 5/31/2008 7:35:00 AM
This liner is a gorgeous bright aqua(ish) teal(ish) blue with slightly silvery metallic. It comes in turquoise, black and brown shades, all metallic. I swatched it on my hand and left it for a few seconds. Then I rubbed it hard, glad to say that there was no smudging whatsoever! This colour really brings out my brown eyes and makes them pop! It's very fun and bright, perfect for clubbing and parties and discoes. I think it would be great for a sort of dark blueish greenish smokey eye. Got some weird looks wearing this out but I guess it was pretty bright in the sunlight. I really wish I had bought one!! At the time I convinced myself it was yet another eyeliner, and it was too pricey (for my tiny budget) and waaay to bright. I regret it to this day because I can't find a Bourjois counter in Singapore. Don't make the same mistake.
This eyeliner is a great buy I have it in BL-1, it comes in six shades (that I know of): SV-1- silver metallic GD-1- gold metallic BR-1- flat brown BL-1- flat black PU-1- purply blue BK-3- black with shimmer If I got any wrong, sorry. Not all of them were available in Taiwan. Well, at least not in the Watson's near my hotel. Anyway. The eyeliner comes in a cute little glass pot which feels sturdy. The pot is actually pretty tiny, but judging by the amount I use every time it should last me ages. It comes with a brush, black handle fairly simple design. Very good brush, thin and thick lines are relatively easy with a bit of practice. Also, reading the other reviews I noticed someone said the brush had no cap; mine has a flexible plastic one. The consisteny of the eyeliner isn't really a gel to me, more of cream, but slightly harder. It applies nicely, very black. My favourite thing about it is the staying power! I rub my eyes constantly, and it didn't budge. Once I perfected a cat eye, I went out and on my way back home I got caught in a rainstorm. Looked in the mirror once it was over and it was pristine, same after I got into the shower. Seriously good eyeliner.
Ok, my eyes are occasionally watery, and I tend to rub them a lot. Just so you know. Anyway, this eyeliner comes in a teeny little bottle thingy, with a brush applicator, its an okay applicator. When applied you get a deep black colour, dries at a moderate pace. For me though, my eye became itchy and sore and red. It smudged within minutes. I would have given this one, but I added a lippie for the great colour.
I have never had a cream shadow that doesn't crease utnil I tried this one. They come in a cute, sturdy little glass pot with a black lid and benefit's logo. Close it tight or the e/s will dry out (if it does just sort of crack the top and mix it with your finger). I have it in My Date's My Brother, described as petal pink, its relatively shimmery in some lights, but in others it looks gorgeous and glowy. For me, this doesnt crease at all, so I use it as abase for some gorgeous (but creasing) cream shadows from Taiwan. Well, I actually use it as a base for everytihng! HG material, definitely.
I have this in Lollipop, a bright shimmery red with a hint of fuschia. It's definitely not sheer, apply it like a sheer gloss and you'll have a shiny, shimmering, scarlet pout. You can make it look completely natural by putting a tiny dab in the center of your lips and spreading it with your finger. Rosy lips with a subtle sheen. Sticky, lasted fairly well. Great buy, can't wait to try out the other shades.
I got this as a gift, and I really like it. It has little tubes of lipgloss in it, my favourite is a peachy shimmer, check the other review for the name. They're not glassy shiny but they add a nice sheen think vaseline with colour and lasting power. overall great glosses.
