Crème -Bobbi Brown - Oil-Free Even Finish Compact Foundation
rated 1 of 5

I really, really wanted to love this product. The finish was beautiful on me... great color match. Yet, after a couple of weeks, I noticed my pores were clogged beyond belief. We're talking major breakout, and once I stopped using the foundation, my skin started looking much better. Acne-prone skinned ladies - beware!!

Liquid -Laura Mercier - Laura Mercier Oil Free Foundation
rated 5 of 5

Huge rave! I have normal to combination skin, slightly acne-prone so I'm hesitant when it comes to trying new foundation. Not only did it NOT break me out, but it has become my HG. I use a slightly damp foundation brush, which works extremely well for me. Blending is absolutely necessary so if you don't have the time or the patience to spend a couple of more minutes on application - I wouldn't recommend this product.

Cleansers -Caudalie - Cleansing Water
rated 3 of 5
marykimlee1 7/7/2006 2:12:00 AM

Claims to be a cleanser, but I use it as a toner. I don't think it would remove all makeup effectively if you just used it as a cleanser. It is gentle, but there is nothing amazing about it. I have normal to combo skin, and I haven't broken out from it. If you're looking for a gentle, soothing toner w/no frills - this might work for you.

Skincare - Face -Philosophy - When Hope Is Not Enough - Serum
rated 5 of 5
marykimlee1 5/5/2006 4:35:00 PM

Love it! This was my favorite item (along with the microdelivery peel) from the kit. I have normal to combo skin, slightly acne-prone - no breakouts from this, unlike HIAJ (did not do well w/that moisturizer). Sinks in well, and leaves a matte finish...nothing greasy. The smell doesn't bother me at all - I find it rather therapeutic! The apothecary bottle is very cute, and very hygenic. Huge rave!

Eye Shadow -Stila - Bohemian Trios - Café, Sage, Bronze
rated 5 of 5

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet - I have the Trio in Bronze, and I LOVE it. One of m staples that I return to regularly. As mentioned, Bronze is very versatile - I can either dress it up or down. Great quality!

Toners -DDF - Glycolic Toner 10%
rated 2 of 5
marykimlee1 2/9/2006 12:14:00 AM

After constantly hearing about this miracle product, I had to try it. It did not work for my normal to combo skin. I think this toner is best for gals with really oily skin. Although it did get rid of the little bumps of my forehead, it dried out the rest of my face. I don't have bad acne or anything so maybe this might help out the ones who do. Will not be repurchasing.

Cleansers -DHC - Washing Powder
rated 5 of 5
marykimlee1 2/8/2006 9:11:00 PM

Another great product from DHC. I use their cleansing oil, and follow up with the washing powder. I have normal to combo skin, slightly acne prone, and this has not broken me out. I only use this as night in conjunction with the oil, and it leaves my skin clean without drying it. It foams wonderfully, and you can't beat the price!!

Cleansers -DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil
rated 5 of 5
marykimlee1 2/8/2006 9:08:00 PM

I have normal to combo skin, slightly acne-prone. This is my 1st cleansing oil, and quite posssibly the only one I'll ever use! So far, I love it. I was skeptical about the whole oil concept, but this has not broken me out at all. I do follow up with another cleanser - just in case. I use DHC washing powder, which is another great product. I only use this at night to remove all makeup and sunscreen. Due to DHC, washing my face has become less of a chore, but a delight (okay, that might be a stretch, but you know what I mean!). :)

Skincare - Face -Philosophy - Make-Up Optional 4-piece Kit
rated 5 of 5
marykimlee1 9/18/2005 1:08:00 AM

After much consideration, I finally broke down and bought this kit. I was very torn - so completely won over by marketing efforts by Philosophy and confused by MUA reviews on items. It seemed rather conflicting...some people loved the cleanser/peel while others hated moisturizer/eye cream. Well, so far, I'm very happy with it. I have normal to combo skin. Meaning I get oily in the summers, and rather dry in winters. I've used the kit for almost 2 weeks now, and love how my skin is faring. Although I can't say it's "makeup optional" skin now, I feel like there is a glow along with a smooth texture to my skin due to products. I use the cleanser AM and PM...it removes all makeup for me (I wear foundation, eye shadow, blush, etc) so I don't understand reviews mentioning how it doesn't remove makeup). I only use the moisturizer every AM, and the serum every PM. Using both together is too much for my skin. This routine works out perfectly for me, and provides enough moisture for my skin. So far, no milia for me from eye cream. And of course, the scrub is awesome! However, I want to say the scrub I received was a little "defective"....it was kinda in a hard, solid state, which should be more like a sorbet consistency. I think it might have melted and recoagulated during transit. Although I'm afraid Vitamin C effects might have been compromised, the scrub (peel) was still wonderful. I think my experience is proof that it really does depend on your skin type as to how YOUR skin will react to the kit. Yes, the moisturizer stinks to high heaven, but it really depends on your tolerance level (both to the scent and how your skin handles it). I love everything about this kit, and I will update after a month. Edit 9/7 - Okay, HIAJ gave me clogged pores and I really didn't care for the eye cream. However, huge rave for Microdelivery Peel, cleanser, and serum.

Liquid -Prescriptives - Virtual Matte
rated 4 of 5
marykimlee1 6/21/2005 2:55:00 AM

Prescriptives Marketing Department - please take note. When you have a great, successful product, please do not reformulate it and lose your clientele!! You did it with the cleanser and now the Oil-free foundation. What used to be my HGs are now...meh. Color (Fresh Champagne) works fine (I USED to wear Fresh Gold, but colors are now completely different) and the finish is a little on the heavy side. No complaints, but nothing great.

Scrubs -Dr. Brandt - Microdermabrasion in a Jar
rated 5 of 5
marykimlee1 6/21/2005 2:49:00 AM

I absolutely adore this product. Like everybody else, the hefty price tag raised my brow, but it is absolutely worth every penny. I have normal to combination skin, and this scrub keeps it smooth and clear. I use it about once a week - still tons of product left and I've had it for almost a year!

Masks -Dermalogica - Skin Refining Masque
rated 4 of 5
marykimlee1 5/18/2004 1:24:00 AM

After using this mask, my skin does feel nicer...it isn't my HG, but it is a great mask. I love to use it after I've abused my skin (ie...not washing it before bed). It helps my skin from misbehavin'.

Shampoo -L'Oreal - Nutri-Vive with ceramide
rated 1 of 5
marykimlee1 4/30/2004 3:41:00 PM

TERRIBLE!!! I have very dry hair, and this shampoo did NOTHING for it. In fact, it dried it out even more. If you want drugstore brand, just stick with Pantene.

Toners -Avalon Organics Botanicals - Therapeutic Lavender Facial Toner
rated 4 of 5
marykimlee1 4/18/2004 9:19:00 PM

You better love lavendar because this toner is all about it...which makes it very soothing and non-drying. I have normal to combination skin and it hasn't dried me out. No breakouts so far. The smell is very nice, but a little strong. Great price.
