Cleansers -Aveda - Outer Peace Foaming Cleanser
rated 5 of 5

excellent gentle and slightly purifying cleanser, smells nice, and leaves your skin clean but not dry. I have been using it for only 2 weeks so i don't know how long it is going to last. It is gentle and not concentrated I need 2 pumps to clean my face. i like it better than the Botanical kinetics cleanser because it rinses off better and does contain some purifying/calming ingredients and the packaging is easier for travel and the shower. i will update with the list of ingredients

Treatments -H20 - Shine Control Mattifying Essence
rated 4 of 5
mary32 10/3/2006 7:49:00 AM

it is performs better than the equivalent products offered from Origins, Body Shop, Paula's Choice, Clarins and Decleor. I like that it has a drier finish : no thick mask-like layer of silicones sitting on your skin. But as anyone dealing with oily skin knows that there are no miracle products for shine control. I also liked that it doesn't have alcohol or other irritating ingredients. All in all it is a good product, on the expensive side. H2O products are not easily available where i live so i don't buy it regularly but I wouldn't mind buying it again. I would like to try Bliss instant mattification next

Moisturizers -Origins - Dr Weil Plantidote Mega Mushroom Face Cream
rated 5 of 5
mary32 8/31/2006 3:48:00 AM

Absolutely great product that has helped a lot my skin but I have 2 problems : 1)It is too rich for my combination skin so I use it very sparingly over the serum. The serum is also great but too light by itself 2) It is packed in a jar, which according to Paula doesn't help keep the ingredients stable. Using both products is too expensive (I got the creme as a gift, and the serum in a set) but I don't think I will buy both, probably just the creme for the winter. I wish they produce a plantidote lotion in a pump dispenser.

Shampoo -Aveda - Pure Abundance
rated 5 of 5

very nice shampoo; i bought it because i needed a little change after using aveda, scalp benefits for 3 yrs. I really like it. I am realistic about the abundance claims but it is a gentle shampoo that rinses easily, smells great and leaves hair soft w/o any build up.

great product packed with beneficial ingredients. protective packaging that keeps ingredients stable. I like the smell, it is pleasant but less pronounced/lingering compared to other origins products. I do not use it as a serum but as a summer moisturizer, it is very hydrating

Moisturizers -Astara - antioxidant light moisturizer
rated 1 of 5
mary32 5/9/2006 10:26:00 AM

I don't know how to review this product. I was looking forward to trying this creme because it is an aloe vera based product that was supposed to be packed with antioxidants. I received it yesterday and I 've tried it only once so I will have to update concerning its effectiveness. It is fresh and hydrating moisturizer, strictly for night use because it leaves a glossy/oily film on the skin. What really bothers me is that with ASTARA you never know what you're putting on your skin. There are numerous versions of the ingredients list for this moisturizer on the internet (astara, sephora, skinstore etc) none of which matched the ingredient list on the package. And to make matters worse many of the advertised antioxidants are completely absent. (the only good news is that it incluldes preservatives). UPDATE: Never again with this moisturizer and probably Astara products in general. Not only I feel deceived from the fact that this moisturizer doesn't contain the advertised ingredients; but I wasn't even able to finish using this moisturizer as is. Although it is feels light, it leaves the skin greasy, glossy and covered with a film that gave me pimples after couple of weeks. This product amounts to an average night moisturiser for dry skin. The 1 rating is for the company's disingenious advertising & description of the product. Anyhow here here is the ingredients list, as copied from my jar for those who trust Astara and want to give this product a try. water, aloe vera leaf juice, cyclopentasiloxane, tocopheryl acetate, borage seed oil, persea gratissima (avocado), glycerin, Butyrosperum Parkii (shea butter), Steareth-2, sodium PCa, hydrolyzed oat protein, betaglucan, retinyl palmitate (vit A), panthenol (pro-vitamin B5), steareth-21, Cholecalciferol (vit D3), Cananga odorata (ylang ylang), tetrasodium EDTA, Simethicone, Santalum album (sandalwood oil), silybum marianum (milk thristle) extract, evening primrose extract, green tea leaf extract, ascorbic acid (vit C), phospholipids, sodium hyaluronate, geranium maculatum oil, citrus nobilis (mandarin/orange peel oil), carbomer, triethanolamine, quartenium 15, vegetable oil, TBHQ, propylparaben, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben, isobutylparaben, glyceryl oleate, ethylparaben, curcuma longa, (turmeric root extract), citric acid, butylparaben.

Cleansers -Aveda - Purifying Gel Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
mary32 4/25/2006 10:37:00 AM

It is not purifying, but it is a good basic cleanser, gentle, foams well and smells great. With heavy sunscreen you will have to wash twice. The glass packaging with a pump is tasteful and hygienic but not convenient for travel or the shower. I will try the Outer peace cleanser, and I might come back to this one

Treatments -Murad - Brightening Treatment, SPF 15
rated 4 of 5
mary32 4/10/2006 7:31:00 AM

it is a very nice fluffy and emollient moisturizer. It is too early to say about brightening and i do not have any discoloration. It is not at all irritating. On the negative side it is expensive, it comes only in a 1oz bottle and the sunscreen is unstable. With a few modifications I would regularly use this product

Treatments (Eye) -H20 - Sea Results eye defense fortifying serum
rated 4 of 5
mary32 1/3/2006 8:15:00 AM

the ingredients are amazing, it has more antioxidants than any moisturizer in its price range that I have seen. It is however a thick silicone base, almost without water that doesn't absorb. The packaging is definately great and will keep all the good ingredients stable. I wanted however a light serum that disapeared into the skin and brightened the look of the eyes. I ended up giving this to my mother

Moisturizers -La Prairie - Cellular Purifying System - Hydrating Fluid SPF15
rated 3 of 5
mary32 12/6/2005 10:07:00 AM

On the positive side : 1) It is contains numerous antioxidants, antibacterial/purifying ingredients. 2) It has a nice satiny finish (it is not matte or mattifying). Negatives: 1) exorbitant price - which I am not sure is worth it. In europe it sells for 115E. 2) strong and unpleasant fragrance. 3) unstable sunscreen 4) although it has good ingredients they are not unique nor present in higher concentration compared to other much less expensive products. In my opinion it is not worth the money

it is a good product, light, nicely packaged, good ingredients but I really saw no benefit on my skin so i don't think i will buy again. It is not moisturizing enough to be used by itself

Treatments (Eye) -Neutrogena - Healthy Defense SPF 30 Eye Cream in Light
rated 3 of 5
mary32 10/3/2005 6:21:00 AM

I was (and unfortunately i am still) looking for a product that is between an eye creme and a brightener/concealer w spf. This product comes very close: sheer tint, absorbs rapidly, excellent physical sunscreen. BUT: the finish is dry & unnatural.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Repairwear Day SPF 15 Lotion [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
mary32 9/15/2005 7:58:00 AM

It is without doubt a product of great quality. Good sun protection, great ingredients, good packaging. It is the most mattifying moisturizer i've used, in terms of finish I liked it a lot. I was wearing it in Paris during the summer and it did very well. What's wrong and this products is not imediately adopted? it is very expensive in Europe (for some unknown reason they sell it for 75E) it is not moisturizing enough so I don't think I will buy it again at least not soon. Lastly it doesn' feel refreshing when you put it on in the morning and it is a little difficult to spread.

Treatments (Eye) -Korres - Evening Primrose Eye Cream
rated 4 of 5
mary32 9/15/2005 7:36:00 AM

I bought this eye creme in greece for 12E hence the dirt cheap rating. It is a very nice, although simple, emmollient creme for the eyes that i bought mostly for the brightening effect. It is very moisturizing and has zinc oxide for the sun protection. It brightens up the eye area much better than cliniques much more expensive advanced stop-signs. The only reason I gave it 4 is because it could have had an spf of 15 and/or a light tint. I am searching for an eye creme with spf that I can use instead of concealer/highligher so I am going to try the new neutrogena, healthy defense. If that one does't work better I will go back to korres.
