Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Retin A
marisaew1 5/18/2013 8:11:00 AM
I think anyone and everyone should use retin a. BF's brother in law is a dermatologist and even he uses it. BF is 43, I am 33, mom is 58, we all use it! First eight weeks can be rough, but stick with it, you'll be so glad you did. Retinol is the only thing clinically and FDA approved for wrinkles. I've been using it for three years and constantly get compliments on my skin. I also accredit that to two doses of accutane years ago. I use the lower strength and only a pea size. Any more will just cause dryness and not work any better. I also use it under my eyes. Love.

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Turmeric
marisaew1 5/18/2013 8:01:00 AM
Like others I watched an adorable Indian girl on YouTube make a mask. It's amaze, to say the least. I heat a bit of raw, organic honey for like 10 seconds, add either milk or yogurt (just make sure it's NOT fat free), and add enough turmeric to make a thin paste, maybe like a tsp or so. I spread it with a spoon, if I use my fingers it turns my polished nails yellow. Leave on for however long I can, at least until edges dry. Skin is softest it's ever been, any under eye circles lighten, and it's is very anti inflammatory. Perfecto.

Great gloves. Simple and easy. Even when I'm sleepy in the am, they're still quick to use. Leaves my skin very soft. Also feels good to use them: very invigorating!

Eyeliner -Chantecaille - Gel Liner Pencil
marisaew1 4/27/2013 6:47:00 AM
I'm on the hunt for an e/l that won't budge when applied to my lower lash line. This one seemed great in theory b/c it's a gel but still looks soft, and doesn't require a separate brush. Unfortunately after having SA try it on me, it sought refuge in the lines under my eyes in about two hours. Not gonna cut it. Glad I didn't buy it.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Lifeguard's Choice Weatherproofing Lip Balm

HG. I know a lot of people don't like the white cast, but I love it. Gives a very mod look (fem bot style!). Even under lipstick it "cools" colors making them more suited for my olive tone. I believe it's been discontinued, so sad.

Eyeliner -MAC - pro longwear Black Ice

I rarely write reviews unless I'm completely sold on something. I have this eyeliner in Night Trail, which is a deep navy. Every single liner I have ever worn will smudge on me eventually through out the day. Within a few hours they are under my eye, and I only use high end makeup (chanel, Bobbi, etc.). This eyeliner is amaze and will last until you remove it.

Bronzers -Cargo - Cargo Bronzer in Medium
marisaew1 1/10/2013 3:47:00 AM
While I love cargo and feel bad giving a bad review, this bronzer wasnt good for me. Too bronze, like a metallic finish. Otherise if you like the color, all else was great.

Moisturizers -Derma E - DMAE Alpha Lipoic C-Ester Serum
marisaew1 1/8/2013 1:41:00 AM
I love natural products and am a religious follower of Dr. Perricone. Came across this as a great dupe for his moisturizer and I love it. I went on accutane many years ago so I do not break out, therefore cannot comment on that aspect of it. I am also on retin-a now, so the moisturizer tends to sting a bit. But that just gives me a nice, flush, glowy look. Highly recommend.

Styling Products -Phyto - Phytovolume Actif Volumizing Spray
marisaew1 1/5/2010 6:59:00 PM
I'm shocked by the low rating on this product. After an awful experience at a salon, I lost about 40% of my hair. I'm in the process of trying to grow it back, and this stuff has been amazing. I spray it mainly on my roots, and it gives incredible lift and volume. Yes, it's quite pricey, but it's worth it. I use it after I towel dry. I only need about five pumps. Great stuff, just rebought it. Only problem is that when I don't use it for a while, the pump gets clogged.

Hair -Moroccanoil - Moroccan Oil
marisaew1 12/3/2009 12:24:00 AM
I usually don't like it when people post reviews before they've been using the product to really know whether they like it or not. However, I'm about to do just that... I have only used this twice. Each time it has been when I've left my salon because my hairdresser uses it on me. My hair is extremely fine and after a horrible color experience, I lost a lot of it. This does not weigh my hair down. I can't keep my hands away from my hair after she uses it -- it's so soft and shiny. Overall, the best product so far. I will update if anything changes. As for now, I am going back tomorrow to purchase it.

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Accutane (by prescription)

I had gotten cysts since I was about 17 years old. This product was the only thing that helped. I am on my second course right now, because about 6 months after my first course I started breaking out again. However, I had no problem going back on it because it was such a wonder drug. The only side effect I had was slightly dry lips and the inside of my nose was dry. It was so minimal. I wish I would have done it 15 years ago. If you are considering taking it, do it do it do it. It will change your life. I no longer where any makeup other than bronzer. I don't need anything for coverage. I used to be so jealous of my friends who could just wake up and go. I even used to put on concealer before going to sleep b/c I didn't want my boyfriend to see my bare skin. Even when we would go out on a lake or swimming, I would still use concealer -- it was awful. I know it seems like there's a lot of hoops to jump through to be on the drug. Really, it's just getting your blood drawn once/month. That's all. And my insurance pays for it (the generic), so i'ts only $15/month. I cannot experss how much I recommend this. I was also scared that I was going to break out worse at the beginning, b/c I was told that. However, within one week, my skin was clearing up. I did get a few cysts, but they were different. They'd "pop," as before, they would just stay as they were and then turn into a scar. But the first week of the medicine, the 3 or 4 cysts that I got went away in 24 hours. I used to go to the derm about 3 x week to get injections of cortisone to make the pimple go away. Now I only to get my blood drawn. I will update if I break out again after finishing this course. I'm on 60 mgs per day.

Liquid -MAC - Mineralize Satinfinish SPF 15 Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
marisaew1 5/17/2008 4:51:00 PM
I never wear foundation, but tried this one time, then bought it. It's really just something I wear for fun, when it's obvious I'm wearing makeup. This foundation will look like you're wearing it. But, if I don't put anything over it (like powder bronzer), then it can look dewy and pretty. Only lasts a few hours though. I use NC30 and I like the yellow-ish undertones it has. It takes ALL the red out of my face.

Mascara -Too Faced - Lash Injection Vivid Blue
marisaew1 4/16/2008 2:46:00 AM
So great! When I wear this, I always get compliments! It doesn't look like blue mascara from far, just makes your eyes look bright and fabulous. I even use it during the day, with lighter application. Great with a dark blue eyeliner to bring out the color in your eyes. Perfect wand too -- deposits just enough.

Bronzers -NARS - Laguna
marisaew1 4/16/2008 2:35:00 AM
Bronzer is my staple and I'm constantly trying new ones. I honestly think I've tried every high-end bronzer... Laura Mercier, Benefit, Stila, MAC, you name it, I've tried it. I have used this a few times in the past, but now I'm hooked. The key is application. I use a fan brush because it applies the powder very lightly. With the wrong brush, this bronzer is a disaster -- it will look very muddy and dirty. Use a fan brush and you'll see just how great this stuff is. I have somewhat olive-y skin, but a lot of bronzers seem to bring out the red in my skin. This doesn't at all. Just a beautiful shade of tan. And NO orange whatsoever. Also, I don't like glittery bronzers, and this one has just the right amount of matteness. Yes, it's expensive. But, worth every penny to look tan without the effects of the sun.
