Lip Treatments -The Body Shop - Lip Butter
rated 4 of 5

I bought this because I live in a very dry climate and the winter is harsh on my lips. I also love lemon scented and flavored things, so I bought the sweet lemon lip butter. I do like the scent. However, this isn't moisturizing enough for my lips, and it doesn't seem to last long. I am constantly reapplying it. I am also not a huge fan of the packaging: I tend to prefer things in tubes. But I really wanted to try this. I am glad I did, but I will not repurchase. I'll also probably save the rest for late spring or summer, when I don't need so much moisture for my lips.

Lip Treatments -eos - Lip Balm Sphere - Lemon Drop SPF 15
rated 3 of 5

I am generally a fan of lemon scented products, and I love the look of the packaging, so I was really excited to try this lip balm. Things I like about this lip balm: the packaging makes it easy to find in my purse or bag; it has SPF; the lemon scent is really nice. Things I am not crazy about: it's waxy, and I don't feel like it moisturizes my lips at all. Overall, I don't think I'd repurchase this because I need something more moisturizing. I am glad I tried it, though!

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Extra Gentle Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
marileab 12/20/2010 10:35:00 AM

I usually have normal to slightly oily skin, but this fall and winter my skin has been slightly dry and fairly sensitive. I switched to this cleanser from Neutrogena's Fresh Foaming Face wash, which was too harsh for my now-dry skin. The Extra Gentle Cleanser is perfect for me. My skin doesn't feel dry or tight after I wash it, just clean. This cleanser also doesn't irritate my facial skin like the Fresh Foaming Face wash was beginning to do. Overall, I'm happy with this cleanser right now, but I can see switching back to the Fresh Foaming Face wash if my skin changes again in the spring/summer.

Shampoo -Desert Essence - Italian Red Grape
rated 3 of 5
marileab 10/14/2010 10:39:00 AM

I bought this shampoo specifically because it's SLS-free. As others have mentioned, it does have a noticeable grape smell. To me, it smells like the grape Icee-Freeze pops I used to have as a kid. I should mention that I have slightly oily hair, but I shampoo and condition every day. When I used this shampoo, I did use it daily. This shampoo is gentle and cleans well, but it leaves my hair very tangled. I could not have used it without using conditioner afterwards. I'm still searching for a good SLS-free shampoo, and I don't think I'd buy this one again.

Lotions/ Creams -J. R. Watkins - Lemon Cream Hand & Body Lotion
rated 4 of 5
marileab 5/13/2010 1:28:00 PM

I'm trying to find the perfect lemon scent for me. Generally, all lemon scents either morph into a cleaning product smell on me or they disappear completely. This lotion is the exception. I think it's because it's more of a vanilla-lemon scent instead of straight lemon. In fact, it smells like the lemon creme-filled cookies my parents used to buy. It's very sweet. The scent was fairly long-lasting, too. While I liked it initially, I don't think I'd rebuy this because it made me crave those lemon cookies all day long!

Fragrances -Marc Jacobs - Lemon
rated 3 of 5
marileab 5/13/2010 1:24:00 PM

On me, this is more of a soft musky floral than lemon scent. I get lemon on the initial spray, but it quickly disappears. I find this to be a really soft, light scent. It's perfect for warmer weather. It doesn't have tremendous staying power, but I wasn't expecting it. I bought this at T.J. Maxx for $19.99, and it's a great amount of product for that price. The glass bottle is huge, which makes it a good deal, pricewise. Unfortunately, the weight and size also make it difficult to spray. I'll use it up, but I wouldn't repurchase.

Fragrances -C.O. Bigelow - lemon no.1999

I am trying to find the perfect lemon scent. I am a huge fan of citrus scents in general, and lemon in particular. Unfortunately, my chemistry is really picky with lemon scents. They either turn into a chemical cleaning product smell on me, or they disappear completely. I wanted to love this edt, and I was hoping it would work because of all the great reviews it gets. Unfortunately, it was not to be. Although the initial scent was good, it quickly turned to a cleaning product scent. Fortunately for me, it didn't last longer than half an hour.

Lotions/ Creams -Avalon Organics Botanicals - Hand and Body Lotion -Lemon
rated 3 of 5
marileab 5/13/2010 1:16:00 PM

I should start by saying that I am looking for a good lemon scented lotion. Most lemon scents smell like cleaning products on me, and this one is no exception. That said, I do like the lotion formula--it's moisturizing without being greasy. I also like the pump packaging. I'd buy the lotion in other scents, just not this one.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Lunableu 25% Shea Body Whip - various scents
rated 5 of 5

I think this is a great, moisturizing body butter. Generally, my skin is normal to slightly oily, but in the winter, it gets dry. This body butter moisturizes my skin very well. It's thick, I don't need to use a lot, and it sinks in fairly quickly. I usually get it in unscented, so I can't comment about how well it holds scent.

Lotions/ Creams -Eucerin - Daily Replenishing Lotion
rated 4 of 5
marileab 5/5/2010 3:56:00 PM

I have normal to slightly dry skin in the spring and fall, and that's when I use this lotion. I don't need much moisture then, and this lotion is perfect--it's light and moisturizing without being greasy. It sinks in fairly quickly. I do like the pump packaging, but I wish there was a pump that would allow you to use all the lotion in a container. That said, I would (and probably will) buy this product again.

Lip Treatments -C.O. Bigelow - Lemon Lip Cream
rated 4 of 5
marileab 5/5/2010 3:50:00 PM

For me, this is a great product for spring and fall, when my lips need extra moisture but aren't chapped. This wasn't moisturizing enough for winter, but I live in a very cold, windy climate. I'm really enjoying it at the moment, though! It's not sticky at all, and it just has a little bit of shine. I like the lemon scent. It's sweetened, which I don't generally like, but it's not overly sweet. I like that the tube has a slanted applicator on the end. However, I am still working at squeezing with proper pressure to get just the right amount of product out. That has taken some practice! Pricewise, I think the lip cream is a fairly good deal if you buy during the BBW semi-annual sale or a buy 2, get 1 free deal. I would buy it on sale, but I don't think I'd pay full price for it.

Lips -C.O. Bigelow - Lemon Lip Balm
rated 4 of 5
marileab 4/21/2010 10:42:00 AM

This is my dh's favorite lip balm, so I always keep spares around the house. I originally bought it for me, but I'm not a fan of sweetened lip balms. I do like the lemon scent, and I do occasionally keep a tube for myself. It's moisturizing, but we live in place that's extremely cold and windy in the winter. It's not moisturizing enough for me then, but it does work well for dh. The packaging is fairly hefty, considering how much product you actually get. So, I'm not thrilled with how much space it takes up in a purse or pocket compared with regular lip balm. It's also fairly expensive for the amount of product you get ($7 full price). But if you buy when there's a special of some kind, it's not quite so bad.

Lotions/ Creams -Paula's Choice - Beautiful Body Butter
rated 3 of 5
marileab 12/29/2009 10:45:00 AM

I tried a sample of this in my last order from Paula's Choice. I have mixed feelings about this product. My hands get really dry in the winter, and so I'm looking for a lotion I can use at that time. This is a great lotion for dry skin. It is very moisturizing. This product also now comes in a squeeze tube, which would be easier to carry around than the jar packaging. I can definitely smell the cocoa butter, which unfortunately smells musty on me. Additionally, my hands felt really tacky after I used it. It takes longer to soak in than I would like. Maybe my hands weren't dry enough!

Moisturizers -Paula's Choice - HydraLight Moisture-Infusing Lotion
rated 3 of 5
marileab 10/11/2009 10:53:00 PM

I generally like Paula's products, and I needed a new moisturizer. After looking at the reviews here, I decided to try a sample of this moisturizer in my last order instead of ordering the full-size product. While I think this is a good moisturizer for my slightly oily skin that gets a bit dry in the winter, the smell was too much for me. I usually don't use scented products on my face, and though this isn't scented, the smell was a bit overwhelming. I like the product formulation--the lotion was light but moisturizing. The dry patches I used it on weren't dry in the morning. But I wouldn't buy this product again because of the smell.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Bathed and Infused Light Blue EDP
rated 5 of 5
marileab 2/14/2009 9:52:00 AM

I've been looking for a good dupe of Light Blue, and I'd heard good things about this one. To me, it is a pretty close dupe, but there's something about it which is a little different. When I wear it, this translates to a big difference. With the original Light Blue, the citrus comes out a bit more and so it's a bit sharper on me, which I like. With the B&I version, the musk comes out on me much, much more, which I'm not crazy about. So, it's close, but for me not close enough. I think I'll stick to the original.
