Tools -Shiseido - The Skincare Cleansing Massage Brush
rated 5 of 5
mariec99 7/8/2006 1:08:00 PM

I love this brush so much that I bought two -- one for the sink and one for the shower. I may get a third to keep in my travel bag. It's effective and gentle -- even over your eyes. I use it with philosophy's real Purity cleanser and it foams just enough. I am a little puzzled about the little cover/stand that comes with it. The cover does help protect the brush when it is in my travel bag, though.

Styling Products -TiGi - S Factor Seriously Straight
rated 3 of 5
mariec99 7/8/2006 12:05:00 AM

I use the rest of the S-Factor line and I bought this hoping to loosen my curl on days I wear it curly (sometimes the curl is too tight for my taste). It sprays on like hairspray and you use it on damp hair. It didn't do anything to loosen my curls -- but it didn't do anything bad to it (i.e. take away shine) either. My curls were still bouncy and shiny. It didn't leave my hair stiff or crunchy like some other straightening products can. I haven't used this to blow dry my hair straight yet, but I will update this review when I do.

Treatments -TiGi - Treat Me Right (Peppermint Hair Mask)
rated 5 of 5
mariec99 7/7/2006 11:56:00 PM

I love this conditioner! I use this when I am soaking in the tub. Sometimes, if I take an evening bath, I'll wrap a towel turban around my hair and sleep with it on and rinse it out in the morning. I think it works better if you leave it on for more than just 5 minutes. I just love the scent and I adore how great it feels on my scalp. Give yourself a nice long scalp massage when you use this -- you'll be in heaven. It doesn't weigh my hair down at all (I have fine, curly hair). It leaves my hair soft and shiny. I use this about once per week (sometimes alternating with another deep conditioner: TiGi S-Factor "Serious" Conditioner. If your hair is really, really dry or damaged you won't find Treat Me Right moisturizing enough. But, if you have slightly dry, colored, or normal hair this will work well on you.

Styling Products -Aveda - Air Control hairspray
rated 1 of 5
mariec99 7/7/2006 11:38:00 PM

I hated this! I am not a huge fan of Aveda products because of the scents -- but they usually fade quickly. A stylist recommended it, though so I bought a can. I no longer use that stylist!! The scent is so strong and it doesn't fade at all. This is one of those sprays that doesn't dry right away so that you can arrange your hair before it sets. But it has no hold and worst of all -- it left my hair completely matte! No shine at all. I smelled like poultry seasoning and my hair looked dusty. Fabulous.

Styling Products -TiGi - S-Factor Chic Shine Hairspray
rated 5 of 5
mariec99 7/7/2006 11:32:00 PM

Very nice pump spray. Smells fruity -- like the other products in the S-Factor line. It is very pricey ($28 for 8.45 oz.), but it makes my hair so shiny and soft I can't resist buying it. It gives a medium hold that still lets my hair bounce when I let it go curly.

Styling Products -TiGi - Bed Head Control Freak Extra Extra Straight 4
rated 1 of 5
mariec99 6/22/2006 5:50:00 PM

This is going right back to the store. I have medium curly hair -- a bit curlier than I'd like. I bought this thinking I could apply it and it would release some of the curl and leave me with loose curls. Unfortunately, this didn't work. I air dried and my hair was just as curly as ever. Apparently this is only for use with blow-dryers and straightening irons. Of course they don't say that on the package -- my biggest pet peeve with TiGi products is that they do not put enough informaiton on the packages. First, I almost blinded myself the first time I pushed the dispenser button. What was that pittiful sputtering stream of product supposed to be? Mousse? No. Serum? No. Gel? No. Spray? Absolutely not. It was near impossible to apply it directly to my hair, so I resorted to squirting it into my hand first and then applying wiht my fingers. It took away all of the shine in my hair and was super stiff and crunchy when dry. Awful product with even worse packaging.

Hair -TiGi - S-Factor Smoothing Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
mariec99 2/15/2006 6:22:00 PM

Love this. The scent had to grow on me as I am not used to sweet, fruity smelling products. It's a good scent -- just not one I was used to. This shampoo is gentle and doesn't strip hair but it cleans throoughly. I have dry curly hair and I really like it. I do use it with the matching conditioner. My hair has tons of volume -- even when I straighten it -- and it comes out swingy, shiny and thick feeling. You only need to use a tiny bit (same with the conditioner) and thats how I can justify the price (plus -- great results!) The packaging is not so great for the shower -- I wish the bottle stood on it's bottom instead of it's head because I always feel like I will spill it. I am also afraid that the cap will come loose when I take this in my suitcase. (The entire line has strange, not very functional packaging. It looks like they designed it to win packaging awards for creativity and not for the customer. For example, The Smoothing Lusterizer (which is also fabulous) is in a hard tear shaped bottle that is impossible to squeeze to get the last bits out -- and believe me, at this price I want every last drop.)

Conditioner -TiGi - S Factor Smoothing Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
mariec99 2/1/2006 6:14:00 PM

Do not like the smell -- too cutesy and fruity for me but since it doesn't seem to linger I will continue using it. This is a very nice conditioner. I have medium/fine curly hair and it did not get weighed down with this -- although I can see how someone with fine, straight hair might feel this is a bit heavy. This rinses easily and left my hair shiny and bouncy. ETA: The scent is really growing on me -- so much so that I just went out and bought new bottles of this $25/6 oz. conditioner.

Styling Products -TiGi - S-Factor Smoothing Lusterizer
rated 5 of 5

Very expensive but works great -- I only gave it 4 lippies because the sweet, strawberry fragrance isn't my favorite. (if only they could make it smell like Kerastase's Elasto Curl products). I have curly hair and when I use this and blow dry I get shiny, thick, glossy hair that isn't weighed down. When I air dry I get soft, shiny, fat, loose curls. Great stuff. Expensive but worth it. ETA: The scent is really growing on me. I am liking this more and more each day.

Conditioner -TiGi - S Factor Serious Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
mariec99 1/16/2006 1:21:00 PM

I really liked this conditioner...except for the wierd package and the smell-- which was not awful but which I personally did not like -- I thought it smelled like strawberries. Someone here said it smelled like cotton candy and I have to say that is an accurate description. Again -- it is not a bad smell just not my favorite. It left my hair very smooth and thick feeling and didn't weigh it down. ETA: The scent is really growing on me. I like it more each time I use it. Plus my hair is so shiny and glossy.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
rated 5 of 5
mariec99 12/28/2005 2:15:00 PM

Love this. This cleanser is the perfect balance of clean and caring. It cleans well without stripping. It leaves nothing behind. The skin around my eyes is super sensitive -- gets red and peels at the slightest irritation or harsh ingredient -- but I have had no problems with this at all. This takes off waterproof and long wearing makeup with ease. I can use this to take off all my eye makeup and wash my face at the same time. Perfect. Keeps my skin clear, doesn't dry it out or interfere with anything else I put on. Would be great for men too. This is my HG cleanser. I get complements on my skin all the time.

Lotions/ Creams -Origins - Handle with Care
rated 1 of 5
mariec99 12/8/2005 3:36:00 PM

I got seduced by the scent of this hand creme -- so I bought it. But it is a strong scent so smell it before you buy. It is greasy and I have to warn you it it a super strength ink remover -- even after you have let it soak in for a long while. Every piece of paper, magazine, label, etc. you comne into contact with will melt onto your hand.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Volume Shocking Mascara [DISCONTINUED]
rated 1 of 5
mariec99 11/22/2005 12:10:00 PM

Beyond bad. Where was the "12 times more volume" the ads promised? Nowhere. What I got was skinny short spider legs and flakes. Flakes all day long. The dual packaging is awful because it requires the wands to be shorter than normal wands -- making application more difficult than normal. Then, the big debate -- should I let the base dry or not before the "volume constructing top coat"?? HUGE misnomer BTW, there was nothing but color in the 2nd coat; no volume, no length. And that stupid stick they call a wand. No. Did I mention the flakes???? The blinding, cornea cutting flakes??
