Mascara -Maybelline - The Rocket Volume Express
rated 4 of 5

(Waterproof review) I was on the fence about trying this mascara after reading the initial reviews on the MUB. I'm so glad I decided to give it a try! This mascara really lengthens my lashes and holds a curl beautifully. It does not clump. The only negative comment I have is that is does not add much volume. This is fine for me because I just love everything else about the mascara. I will definitely add this to my must have list.

Lipstick -Chantecaille - Lip Chic: Sunrise
rated 5 of 5
marie28 2/25/2012 6:24:00 PM

Chantecaille Lip Chic in Sunrise is my first lipstick purchase from this brand. I am definitely in love! The texture of Lip Chic is very smooth and somewhat opaque. I had to layer twice to get good coverage. This is fine with me since I prefer l/s with lighter textures. As for the color of Sunrise, at first glance, it is a true coral. I usually avoid corals and peaches because most of them contain too much of the orange which makes me look sallow.(I am NC35 atm) When I applied Sunrise, I carried off more of the pink undertones. This shade of coral brightens my skin tone...I look so fresh! Perfect for spring and summer. The only downside to this product is it is LE...I love it so much I am considering buying back up...worth every penny!

Liquid -Guerlain - Parure Gold

I really wanted to like this foundation, however, I have to agree with some of the previous reviews concerning the oxidation of the color. Currently, I am NC 35 and was matched with shade #23. At first the color match was fine, but it eventually became very orange on me. Needless to say, I had to return the product.

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Les 4 Ombres Quad Murano
rated 5 of 5
marie28 11/25/2010 1:57:00 PM

This is an awesome quad, the colors are just wonderful. There are 3 shades of teal, a light silver teal, a medium gray tone teal, deep teal and a champagne pink. I love the smokey eye look I can create with a pop of color. There is so much versatility to this quad without being OTT as said in a previous review. The pigmentation is great and the texture of the shadows is very smooth...not powdery at all. Highly recommended!

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Coco in Lune Rousse #36
rated 5 of 5
marie28 10/26/2010 5:47:00 PM

I definitely agree with previous reviewers, this is a cranberry red color l/s. It does lean a little on the cooler/blue based end, but not that much. I consider it to be more neutral in the undertones. It is such a gorgeous color for the fall or to wear with a very neutral/soft e/s. Being of med/tan complexion, I loved how this l/s brightened my face. While it is an eye catching shade of red, it is not OTT to wear during the day/work. As for the texture of the l/s, it is typical RC, very smooth. I just ate some greasy Asian food, and my l/s is still on my lips. This RC is highly recommended!

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Allure - Emotive
rated 5 of 5
marie28 10/3/2010

I LOVE this l/s! The color is a soft raspberry red. Pigmentation is great and easily built upon to create a soft red color for day/work. Layering the color on the lips will make the color a deeper berry red shade. The texture of the Rouge Allure l/s is so creamy, smooth an lasts for a long time. I wore this today with Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Emoi. It gave me such a sophisticated look when paired with a soft blush and neutral e/s. My money was well spent on this l/s.

Lip Gloss -Chanel - Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss - Emoi (58)
rated 5 of 5
marie28 9/23/2010 7:50:00 PM

This is Chanel's best lip gloss! The texture is so light, yet very smooth and creamy. Excellent pigmentation. Emoi is a soft raspberry red color. Not too dramatic and it can be worn alone or on top of a lipstick. I tried this at Bloomigdales on top of Rouge Allure Emotive l/s, a berry red color. I fell in love with both. As for how long the gloss lasts when worn, it's hard to tell at the moment. I've had Emoi on the last 2 hours and so far, I have not had to reapply. Color selection of this line is very limited. I saw about 8 testers out. But as with any Chanel product, it's great quality. I encourage anyone to at least drop by the Chanel counter and have a look.

Blush -Chanel - Joues Contraste in Plum Attraction
rated 5 of 5
marie28 9/11/2010 2:27:00 PM

When I first saw Plum Attraction, I thought there was no way I could wear it because of its appearance in the pan. It appears to be a very dark brownish burgundy shade. How wrong I was! On my NC 37-40 skin, it's a berry red shade giving me a soft, flushed look. My face seems to "brighten" with this blush. I find the color to be very pigmented. It needs to be applied VERY lightly or it will give someone "clown" cheeks. I know I won't need to buy this product again because a little goes a long way. But if Chanel were to make this a permanent part of the JC collection, I would be very happy. This is definitely one of my favorite products by Chanel.

Makeup Brushes -Sonia Kashuk - Large crease brush- white handle
rated 5 of 5
marie28 9/6/2010 9:50:00 PM

I LOVE this brush! The brush itself has soft, compact brsitles and the tapered end allows perfect eyeshadow application to the crease area. For $5.99, it is an excellent buy and is a must for anyone who loves wearing e/s as much as I do!

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies Waterproof Mascara
rated 4 of 5
marie28 7/16/2010 11:21:00 PM

Overall, this is a good mascara. It gives me great length, holds a curl and did not smudge all day. It is "wetter" than most other formulas I'm used to. The wand is also shorter than most of the other brands I've used, including the other Maybelline mascaras. This is a good mascara, but there are better.

Eyeliner -Chanel - Le Crayon Khol in 69 Clair
rated 5 of 5
marie28 7/6/2010 10:24:00 PM

After seeing this e/l on display, I was intrigued by it. The MA at the Chanel counter said it was for the water line and asked if I wanted to try it out. I have never worn liner on the water line before because of my sensitive eyes. I was so glad I did! The liner brightened by tired looking eyes and freshened my entire look (I had just spent 8 hours in front of a computer). The best thing is that the product did not make my eyes water, itch, burn or turn red...and I have very sensitive eyes. It's amazing how Chanel perfected this product! It's a definite staple in my make up collection. I will always buy this liner as long as Chanel makes it.

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Soft Touch Eyeshadow - 87 Taupe Grise
rated 5 of 5
marie28 7/2/2010 8:36:00 PM

I agree with the previous reviews for this e/s. As the name implies, this is a gray based taupe with a subtle shimmer to it. In certain light, it does appear to mauve/purple gray color, which is why I had to buy this. I paired this with MAC Haux in the crease and Chanel Soft Touch Amethyst and it gave me a soft, smokey look appropriate for day time. The quality of the product is typical Chanel, soft, smooth and blendable. As for the price, it is not cheap, but it's worth it. While taupe may seem like an easy color to dupe, but the mauve/purple cast to this e/s is what makes it special.

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Blush in Blushbaby
rated 5 of 5
marie28 6/7/2010 9:09:00 PM

Finally! A blush that gives me a natural, flushed color. The color of this blush is just the right balance of pink, mauve and nude. It suits my NC40 coloring. The blush is a sheertone, so it does go on lightly, but the color can easily be built upon. Since I do want to use this on the days I want to wear minimal makeup, this blush is perfect for me.

Lipstick -Chanel - Byzantin
rated 5 of 5
marie28 6/2/2010 8:36:00 PM

I love Rouge Cocos...it's very obvious in my reviews of various shades I own from this line. Smooth and silky in texture, wears for a very long time without drying the lips and an excellent range of colors to choose from is what makes this line so wonderful. Byzantin is a color exclusive to Saks. I would describe it as a soft berry red...and it is SO beautiful!!! It is definitely an eye catching color, but not in an obvious way, as some reds can be. The color is vibrant without being too dramatic. Despite this l/s being a cooler shade of red, it looked great against my warm, tan complexion. I sampled this l/s after a long day at work and it was an instant pick me up! If you're looking for a special l/s...this is it!

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
marie28 5/31/2010 9:25:00 PM

This is a great product! I've always wanted to wear a "winged" liner look, but I just did not want to spend the money on a department store liner and brush (though I do love my Chanel). I saw this product at Rite Aid and thought I'd give it a try. I was very pleasantly surprised. The eyeliner goes on very smoothly using the brush that comes with it. On me, the liner dried fairly rapidly. I was able to create the look I wanted without any problems. Another great thing about this e/l is the price, I bought it during the Maybelline 40% off sale. A great product at a great price, you just can't beat that!
