Lipstick -Yves Saint Laurent - Rouge Volupte Shine
mariann7 5/6/2013 8:07:00 AM
I caved & bought this in "In Danger", a sheer red color. I love the packaging, it is so heavy & elegant. The formula is like liquid gold, goes on easily, can be built up or just a whisper of color. It is a blue based red. I really love this formula. It is pretty sheer, however, & needs to be reapplied often for the shine but the color stain lingers. I plan on getting "Pink in Confidence" next. Yep, I would buy again. Very creamy & smooth on the lips, no drying out. Love it!

Lipstick -NARS - Dressed to Kill
mariann7 2/17/2013 6:11:00 AM
This is a lovely raspberry red lipstick infused with gold shimmer. However, it is a little bit dry compared to the other Nars lipsticks, several of which I love (Afghan Red, Damage, Gypsy, Flamingo). After a few hours I find my lips are parched. The color pay off isn't that great, as I need to reapply every 2 hours or so. Nonetheless, the color is beautiful & I will continue to use itbecause of its beauty. But the evening after, you will need a lip balm to rehydrate. Buy it again? Probably not due to the dry feeling afterwards which I think comes from the glitter in the formula.

Palettes -NARS - And God Created the Woman Set (LE)
mariann7 2/16/2013 7:53:00 AM
This palette is awesome. It has the best color IMO from the Alhambra, Kalahari, & Bellisimo duos as well as three perfect singles. I have used the palette for complete looks all week (purchased this as my own birthday present 2/7) using Coconut Grove as an eyeliner, & the colors above as eyeshadow. Of course, the eyeshadow primer is the best sold, & the brush is a nice fluffy brush with all the great NARS quality. The set is reasonably priced too. Simply put, a great deal. It's a neutral palette, but surpasses UD Basics as the NARS neutrals are not overly matte but the perfect blend of matte & shimmer. I think both warm & cool toned girls can use these colors. Easy to blend, stays all day. Another NARS winner. Go out & get it while it's available. $59 @ Sephora. It is smaller than expected, but there is more than enough product to last a long time. Love it, & would buy again.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner
mariann7 2/15/2013 7:15:00 AM
I like my black eyeliners subtle not smoky, so I went to Ulta to swatch a few. All the pencils were smudgy black, but when I switched 24/7 waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Perversion, I bought it straight away. The color is a shiny black, the brush applicator delivers a perfect discrete line, the wand is easy to hold for application, & it literally stays all day & doesn't budge. Takes a few minutes to dry, so give yourself a little time for it to dry & set, don't blink either until it dries or it may transfer. But I love this product, love the shiny black color, & you can thicken the top lid if you want as the applicator is precise. I am a big fan of the UD 24/7 eyepencils too, but they are better for a smoky, smudgy look, this 24/7 liquid eyeliner ROCKS! Easy to remove, I use the Neutrogena wipes & although you may have to work alittle to get them off, this eyeliner lasts all day & is just as perfect at the end of the day as when first applied. LOVE Perversion. Definitely would buy again.

Eye Shadow -Stila - In The Know Palette
mariann7 10/28/2012 5:36:00 AM
I purchased this from Ulta as the colors reminded me of the Grand Canyon. The colors go so well together & the liner (sort of a charcoal grey/light black) complements the palette well. I have always liked Stila pencil eyeliners as well because they don't budge & are easy o apply. It's a very versatile every day palette, appropriate for work. Matte shadows,no glitter, easy to blend, powdery consistency with minimal fall out although there is some fallout. I'd recommend it. It's my go to work palette these days.

Eyeliner -Bobbi Brown - Twilight Night Shimmer Ink
mariann7 10/28/2012 5:23:00 AM
This is a pretty color, like Mothbrown or Llasa as an eyeliner but the texture is awful. Not at all like other BB gel liners & I have quite a few. Difficult & flaky to apply. Can't see the glitter. The worst Bobbi Brown eyeliner, unfortunately. I'd skip this one.

Mascara -Trish McEvoy - Thickening Mascara
mariann7 6/17/2012 6:14:00 AM
Bought this mascara as I had read good reviews on various blogs. I have Black. This product does exactly what it is supposed to do. The tube is bigger than Chanel Initimable; the wand is easy to manuever and the shape of the brush allows you to apply easily with great coverage. It truly does thicken your lashes and does not clump at all. You are able to apply the product evenly and the brush allows you to get a good sweep of all lashes. I applied 2 coats & it wore all day and didn't smudge and looked great. It gives great definition to eyelashes. I will definitely buy this again. My HG is Initimable, and this formula is thinner than Chanel and gives a more discrete every day- can- wear- to- work without looking over the top. Pricey ($30) but I've found that higher end mascara is one product that's absolutely worth spending the extra money on. Love it and would highly recommend.

Fragrances -Prada - Candy EDP
mariann7 5/18/2012 7:47:00 AM
This is my new go-to scent. I received a bottle for Christmas and have gone thru it and just bought another. It is a very sweet fragrance; notes of caramel and vanilla. The worst is that it doesn't last too long and for the price it should have more staying power (took off a lippie for this). Love the bottle too!

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow in Bad to the Bronze / on and on bronze
mariann7 5/18/2012 7:42:00 AM
I bought these in Tough as Taupe and Bold Gold. For the price, they are great! The Tough as Taupe is actually a lavendar taupe color sort of like a cream NARS Lhasa. It is very nice, easy to blend and doesn't crease (on me, anyway). The Gold color is a nice sheer gold not too intense (varies of course as to how much product you layer). I bought one and got the other half off. I really recommend these. I think I'll get the purple & teal color next time I see a sale. Maybelline got it on the mark with this formula.

Primer/ Corrector -Chanel - Le Blanc de Chanel - Sheer Illuminating Base
mariann7 5/10/2012 6:47:00 AM
I love this primer! I was looking for a product that would smooth out my skin and not feel heavy under foundationa and this does that and more. It makes a great base for any kind of face product; powder foundation, liquid foudation or even just using a MAC MSF. My skin feels so soft all day, the makeup lasts longer and keeps its true color. Doesn't make my face shiny. I've used Laura Mercier Primer oil free (still made my face look shiny by the end of the day) and Smashbox Photofinish (which I think is great as well). The only thing about this product is I wish it had a pump for application instead of that dumb white "scooper" which tends to take more out thus product wasted. It's a little expensive but it's Chanel- to me its worth it. The white formula does blend well- I didn't see any white color on blending. I love it!

Highlighters -Guerlain - Meteorites Perles Teint Rose
mariann7 5/1/2012 4:30:00 PM
I've had my eye on these for a while, reading many good reviews and needed to find a product that would brighten up my face. After saving my pennies I purchased this item about two weeks ago @ Sephora. Like other reviews, you don't see a diffference on your skin until you've used them a few times and then notice a "glow". I used a kabuki brush to swirl it over the pearls and dust over my face. I've tried them over foundation and blush, over tinted moisturizer and over just plain moisturizer and each time they deliver that halo glow. Love the violet scent (it disappears). I love this product. They work - leaves a healthy aura to where ever applied. Highly recommend these. Yep, they are costly but will probably last forever. I'm NC25 yellow undertones and the Tient Rose works just fine.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Henna (Blonde Brunette Redhead Collection)
mariann7 1/7/2012 8:11:00 AM
I just received this in a swap and am wondering where it's been all my makeup life? I love it! It's golden khaki, easy to blend and lasts well all day (using a primer). I used it with All That Glitters as a brow highlight and Charcoal Brown in the outer V, and Rosemary and Thyme as an eyeliner. Perfect work look! Lovely shimmer all day. Don't know if this was LE or permanent but I'll be on the lookout for a backup!

Mascara -Chanel - Inimitable Intense Mascara
mariann7 12/11/2011 6:54:00 AM
I've finally found my HG mascara. This is the best mascara I've ever used. It applies evenly, the applicator is sleek & tapered so you can apply to all the lashes, espicially the lashes nearest the tear duct. No clumping during application. It doesn't smudge all day and looks as good after a long day as when first applied. Easy to remove with any makeup remover (I'm using Neutrogena make up remover wipes). I love it better than Lancome and even Dior . A little costly but absolutely worth it. I won't use anything else from now on.

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Idole ULTRA [DISCONTINUED]
mariann7 12/1/2011 5:36:00 PM
I was looking for a medium coverage foundation for winter and was going to buy either Chanel Perfection Luminere or this Teint Idol Ultra. There was a GWP @ Lancome, thus I bought this. I love the pump dispenser, you need just one pump to cover your face and it prevents wasting the product. I use both a Chanel foundation brush and my fingers to apply; application is smooth and easy; doesn't dry too fast so you can blend easily. I've had it for one week and have used it daily, and so far so good. My skin is oily, less so than when I was in my thirties but still quite oily and this foundation has not let any oil break through all day. It does last 10 hrs as well with no slide or uneven coverage. I've used it with Smashbox Photofinish primer (which is my favorite) and have not had to use any powder to set either at the beginning nor end of the day. It leaves your skin feeling soft and silky. I am a NW 25-30 and was matched to Buff 3 N and it is a perfect match. I really like this product, and I've used Estee Lauder DW (too thick) and Revlon Colormatch (also too thick for my tastes). Next time I'll try Chanel Perfection Luminere (I was matched to Beige 40 in that product) but this 30ml bottle will probably last me a year. I'm very satisfied and would recommend this foundation for those of us with oily to combo skin.

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - They're Real
mariann7 11/26/2011 9:01:00 AM
I had read many reviews on this product and decided to buy it and try it out. For its price range, this is a great product. It's easy to apply (although it dries pretty quickly so apply fast!), has great coverage, defines lashes well and doesn't smudge. I raked leaves all afternoon yesterday and sweated a bit, and it DID NOT smudge @ all. I would highly recommend this - the price is good - $22 @ Sephora (if I remember correctly) and I've had it for 2 months now and it is still going strong. The applicator has an extra part on the end of the wand that enables you to get all the tiny lashes. I will buy again!
