Mascara -Unlisted Brand - Koji - Dolly Wink Long Mascara
margyface 8/22/2012 5:02:00 AM
My lashes are stick straight and somewhat short. I would rather have added length than volume. I curl using the classic clamp, no-heat curler. Colour: Black. Not ashy and not intense black. Packaging: It's cute. Pink, purple and a bit of silver. -This is similar to the Dejavu mascara in that it has little fibers and the wand is quite big Staying power: No raccoon eyes I didn't wear it to the beach or anything, but it stays on throughout the day and doesn't smudge after it has dried. Curling: This makes my lashes droop! Absolutely no good with curled lashes, unless your lashes are naturally curly Solution - I used to use Heroine Make mascara, which does hold the curl but gives me raccoon eyes (at least, a bit). I use Heroine Make mascara as a curling base and use this on top. No need to throw anything away! :D Lengthening: With fiber mascaras, you need to apply mascara by layers and with a light hand, making sure the fibers get placed on the TIPS of the lashes. I don't really have much time in the morning for applying, drying, applying, drying, etc, so it's a pain to use. One or two layers is fine for me, but isn't "wow" Price: I don't remember the price. I'd say somewhere around 1500 yen. It's not a total loss since I have a solution to the curl problem If you like the Dejavu mascara, you'll like this one, but if you're satisfied with Dejavu, no need for this one until you need a new bottle.

Eyeliner -Unlisted Brand - ADDICTION by Ayako Eyeliner Pencil in Rabbit Hole
margyface 5/22/2012 8:46:00 AM
+++pictures
UPDATE: I tried this on my top waterline. It does migrate down under my eyes, so I wouldn't use it there again. I also want to note that this isn't the creamiest liner out there. It's not incredibly smooth, but it's good enough. There's also a sharpener at the tip, like many retractable liners.
Rabbit Hole is a new shade that came out with Lady of the Lake summer 2012 collection.
This is NOT limited addition.
About my experience with eyeliners:
-->My HG liner is Mac's Liquidlast. It's just a little difficult to deal with if I make a mistake applying it (because it has really great staying power. I'd have to ruin my eyeshadow to fix it).
-->Fluidline gives me a bit of panda eyes by the end of a 8 hour shift even after setting with eyeshadow. It's worse in sweltering summers.
-->Rimmel, Estee lauder, Lancome pencil liners smudge on me before the end of the day :(
Now on to Rabbit Hole
Color:
It's a charcoal black, so it's not intense. If you want a very intense black, you can go with Blackjack. It's still can be intense, and it's good for the office.
Staying power:
This is supposed to be waterproof. I haven't tried it at the beach, but I think it really is waterproof. I've worn this for 8~12 hour shifts and it has great staying power. There is only a (very) slight fading.
I don't normally liner my waterline because no pencil liner has ever lasted more than an hour, but I will try with this one and update this review.
Packaging:
It's a typical plastic retractable liner packaging. It's shiny black with ADDICTION written on it. There's a sticker on it that has the product and shade name.
There's a sharpener in the tip (pull the tip out and there's the sharpener)
Quantity:
I can't find how many grams or whatever this is, but you get about 3.5 cm of product.
Price:
It's about 2500 yen. It seems pricey, but here in Japan, Mac's liquidlast costs a little over 3000 yen (O_O).
Consistency:
It's smooth, but not creamy smooth. It's matte. I tried it on my waterline just now and it goes on easily (no pain, etc).
Other comments:
This is my new HG while I'm in Japan because it's cheaper than Mac's liquidlast, but has just as good staying power. Plus, it's easier to use than a liquid liner brush for those mornings when I'm in a rush. When I go back to Canada, I'll probably go back to liquidlast as Addiction is currently only available in Japan.
Here, I applied Rabbit hole at the outer ends of my eyes (to lengthen my eyes). This picture is taken about 12 hours AFTER application:
I unfortunately don't have any other black pencil liner to compare Rabbit Hole with, but here it is on the right. On the left is Mac's liquidlast in Point Black.

Liquid -MAC - Pro Longwear Foundation
margyface 5/6/2012 6:53:00 AM
Shade: NC20 Application method: dry makeup sponge Setting powder: Addiction by Ayako's loose powder compact (Medium) or Prep + Prime pressed powder Pros: -colour is more neutral and not as yellow as Studio Fix, so it suited my skin tone very well -great coverage -little scent (if any) -glass bottle (nicer than plastic, I suppose) -Hasn't broken me out (Mac's MSF Natural breaks me out) -Lasts throughout a workday Cons: -heavy jar for travel (solution: I use a contact lense case and fill that with foundation) -drying and sometimes makes my face patchy with dry skin/streaky foundation (solution: better moisturising skincare regime)

>>>>>>Click Continue for easier-to-read format -------------------------------- UPDATE: The shade I picked was too pink and too dark for me. I'm not sure if it's because winter just passed, but I'm now closer to NC15 than NC20. I think I'll buy again, but I'll get the lightest shade I can find with yellow undertones or neutral/beige. UPDATE2: There doesn't seem to be a shade that suits me. They're either too dark or oxidise. :( Won't be repurchasing. -------------------------------- >>>>>>A lil about me: Lately, I've been interested in....... -smoothing out my skin (I've got acne, bumpy skin, very fine lines all over my face) -wearing makeup without looking like I am (at least not as much) I am NC20 for Mac Pro Longwear foundation (all other Mac NC20s are a tad bit too yellow). I got shade 320 Aspen Tremble I wear this over: -moisturiser (St Ives Elastin Collagen cream FOR BODY...yeah, I know, but it's good ^_^) -sunscreen (Hawaiian Tropic spf 45...I think it's supposed to be for body, but I use it for face anyway) >>>>>>Coverage: -quite buildable -light-medium coverage -with one layer dark sunspots still show through, but it covers my redness and acne scars -I use this like a spot concealer on dark spots to lighten them -it's a bit matte, so if you want a more dewy finish, use mac fix+ or half-glycerin-half-water-diy-spray (which I use)-->or you could spray some on a sponge and dab onto high lighting areas like the cheek bones >>>>>>Longevity (a better word isn't coming to me right now) -I think it lasts pretty well throughout most part of the day, but I'm not sure if it'll withstand perspiration (my typical workout is a 10minute walk to school -_-) >>>>>>Scent: -fresh and pleasant in my opinion...somewhat minty? -smell goes away very quickly so don't be scared by it if you happen to smell it in the store >>>>>>Removal -I use baby wipes and Pond's cold cream (and follow up with usual cleanser) -easy to remove (unlike the long lasting Mac pro longwear foundation) >>>>>>Overall -Price: $15 CDN I think -smooth application (best to use fingers) -feels weightless -non-greasy -Dry skin beware! MOISTURISE well before applying! -no break outs (things that break me out are Mac's Studio sculpt foundation and MSF natural) >>>>>>Active ingredients Titanium dioxide 2.6%, octinoxate 2% >>>>>>ingredients cyclopentasiloxane, water, cumis sativus (cucumber) fruit water, glycerin, dimethicone crosspolymer, sodium chloride, niacinamide, diethylhexyl carbonate, talc, propylene glycol, peg/ppg-18/18 dimethicone, simmondsia chinensis rhamnoides fruit juice, panthenol, tocopherylacetate, allantoin, dimethicone, methicone, aluminum hydroxide, fragrance, trideceth-9, bisabolol, lactic acid, benzoate, potassium sorbate, benzyl alcohol, phenoxyethanol >>>>>>May contain iron oxides, titanium dioxide

Lipstick -MAC - Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Sweet Ever After
margyface 11/10/2010 7:59:00 PM
Edit: As most Mac lipsticks, this made my lips wrinkled. Not dry, but wrinkly :( And the colour, when layered, was too dark/muddy for me Swapped away -----------For Reference: -NC20 Pro Longwear foundation (all other Mac NC are a bit too yellow) -Asian descent -Mac lippies that work for me: Overtime, Russian Red (at least 2 layers), Patisserie, Ramblin Rose (one layer), Chatterbox (dabbed on), Bombshell (one layer), Extended Play, Bare slimshine, Shy Girl, Cosmo (thinly), Gliss -Mac lippies that DON"T work for me (no matter what I do): Myth, Hue, Ruby Woo, Red, High Tea, -semi-pigmented lips -not super dry lips, but I need vaseline/balm every now and then -good idea is to use a little vaseline over night when you sleep -----------Colour -coppery -cinnamon-like...very good for Autumn and reminds me of Christmas (for some reason) -with 2~3 layers, it's a bit brown, but not too muddy for me -----------Finish -Frosty -Transfers onto mug and/or drink straw -dries to sticky finish -applies smoothly and is creamy -----------Other -In Canada, costs $1.70 more than regular lipsticks -cylindrical packaging (which I prefer over the bullet design) -doesn't last as long as Mac promises, but that's ok....at least 2 hours of wear (minimal eating/drinking)....I like reapplying lip products -be careful when buying any shade of pro longwear lip cremes...check to see if the lid snaps shut SECURELY (some kind of slip off 1mm or so) -scent is usual vanilla

Lipstick -MAC - Gel - Frost
margyface 11/8/2010 12:27:00 PM
For reference: -Was not expecting to like this :D -NC20 Pro Longwear foundation -NC20 for any other Mac foundation is slightly too yellow -Myth and Hue lipsticks are too pale for me -Dark eyes and hair (I'm Asian) with pale-medium skin -typical blush: Trace Gold or Well Dressed (or both) -lipsticks that work well for me: bombshell, Overtime, Russian Red (at least 2 layers), shy girl (but I don't like cremesheen finish) Colour: -champagne-peach-copper -kind of pale -shimmery -if too pale, works well with Summerfruit liner (I like applying liner gently after lipstick) -may be too shiny/metallic-y so I only apply one layer at a time (dampens my semi-pigmented lips into champagne-peach) Finish: -Frost -surprisingly not dry, but the shimmer will emphasize lip lines and dryness -possible transfer of sparkles while eating and using a napkin (though I'm ok with that since the shimmers are very very tiny) Packaging: -typical Mac bullet as this is from the permanent line -personally, I prefer thinner lipstick tubes (like their new pro longwear lipsticks) Overall: -really nice -I'm going to buy again ---------------------------------------------------- Not buying again: -It's a bit too pale so it washes me out ever so slightly and I don't want to wear so much makeup every time I wear this (I was going to make this my everyday-go-to lipstick) -I said it works well with lipliner, but I don't have a peach lipliner (the shade I'm going for) and I don't want to buy Summerfruit (I tried it in the store, though)

Lipstick -Joe Fresh Style - Matte Lipstick Nude
margyface 9/25/2010 4:12:00 PM
Continue for pictures
EDIT (11/01/01): The colour doesn't look right if I apply straight from the tube. I don't have the time to apply with a brush or dab it on gradually. It's just a little too brown for me.
My skin tone:
-medium/Asian with yellow undertones
-foundations suitable for me: Mac Pro Longwear Foundation in NC20; Maybelline Super Stay in Sand Beige; Revlon ColorStay in 150 Buff; Annabelle Mineral powder foundation in Nearly Nude; Mac Studio Fix Fluid in NC20 (but less yellow)
Lipstick consistency:
-Very creamy/moisturising
-nearly opaque application
-feels like I'm not wearing lipstick (in other words, not as thick/heavy as Mac's lipsticks), but a very light balm
Taste:
None, but has a sweet smell...kind of like vanilla wafers
Packaging:
-completely white tube with brand name printed on it
-lid clicks securely (doesn't fall off in my purse)
Colour:
-kind of like Mac Viva Glam II or Honey Love
-kind of pink-ish nude
-kind of MLBB colour but I little more nude-like

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in High Tea
margyface 8/28/2010 10:24:00 PM
Cons -lustre finish applies moistly, but quickly dries and makes my lips all wrinkley -colour = somewhat dull and muddly (I'm NC20 but not as yellow) -smell still like sunscreen (under vanilla scent) Pros -glossy (no long lasting) -packaging is sleek -colour is nice if I only apply thin layer

Powder -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light Medium [DISCONTINUED]
margyface 8/28/2010 10:18:00 PM
Pros -silky powder -packaging is simple and sleek -buildable for more coverage Cons -breaks me out on problem areas only, oddly enough / itchiness -becomes cakey with over-application -no mirror -no sponge

Lipstick -MAC - Back To Del Rio
margyface 4/26/2010 5:29:00 PM
I am NC20 or slightly lighter -lustre finish--> moisturising when lipstick is first applied, but once it dries, so do my lips. And every line/wrinkle of my lips become accentuated -colour is a plummy, but there isn't enough red for me -may be too dark for paler girls who are not interested in (light) gothic look -limited edition=fail :( Though had I liked this, it would be a bigger fail

Lipstick -MAC - Hue
margyface 4/26/2010 5:26:00 PM
-on pigmented lips, this will lighten them to a lighter pink -not quite a nude, but close -a more natural lipstick colour compared to Myth -moisturising (layering increases moisture on lips) -sheer (you can relayer it on without worrying about it being too pale) ---------------------------------------------------- EDIT -This show every crack or dry skin in my -washes me out (NC20, but a little more neutral)

Eye Shadow -MAC - Electro Flash - Sea & Sky
margyface 4/26/2010 5:24:00 PM
This is a review based on use on mono-lids that aren't as small as usual monolids I've seen this at my Mac counter and store many times (for a long time), so I believe it's permanent, but the MA told me that it will be discontinued soon, so I bought it. -navy blue side is silkier than the swirled side, but both feel nice -navy blue is good for defining eye (as liner or shadow) -swirly side: I dislike it! The only reasonable way you could use it if you mush all the colours together. The result is a blue that is too dark for a highlighter, but not dark enough to define the eye -returned to store for the brightside/gallery gal duo (on that is more natural and practical than this one)

Liquid -MAC - Select SPF 15 Foundation
margyface 4/26/2010 5:19:00 PM
When I posted this review, the weather is spring (not too hot, not too cold). It is not humid and it is not as dry as winter. -Studio Sculpt broke me out This did not. -This dries fast so work quickly, with small amount, on small area of face at a time -Have to buy pump separately. -I use with Mac 187 brush...wonderful! -coverage is medium and buildable, but do it in thin layer by thin layer -foundation is very liquidy -feels a little moisturising, but finish looks matte. -I use setting powder over it (if I don't, the foundation slides off my face) -lasts a good 8 hours (maybe slight fading) -use with Mac Matte primer (any primer will do) -feels light, like you don't have makeup on ------------------------------------------------------------- Edit -too yellow -finish is not smooth -watery -the pump always leaves dry residue on the inside (which gets pumped out the next time I use it)

Lipstick -MAC - Please Me
margyface 3/15/2010 3:40:00 AM
I bought this because a Korean actress wore this (and looked very pretty) I'm an NC20-ish (if not, I' m a little lighter) The colour looked great Can appear chalky and garish if dragged across the lips. Looks great with lipgloss Matte, so it's a little dry. Lip gloss solves this, but I'm not a gloss person, so.... Chatterbox is a good alternative, but it's a bit brighter. I suggest you DAB on Chatterbox if you want a similar colour to Please Me (for pigmented lips, lighten your lips somehow, like with foundation or tinted lip primer)

Eye Shadow -MAC - Crush Metal Pigment: Stacked 1!
margyface 2/12/2010 4:01:00 PM
EDIT 2: Too much sparkles! It would be ok if the sparkles remained on top lid, but they fell to bottom lid/under eye, so that's no good. Swapped away EDIT: I used a layer of paint pot (soft ochre) under the shadows and the colour stayed on longer. There was still a little fading, but it's ok I like using the lavender on the inner half of the lid and the dark purple on the outer half. The fading of the dark purple is more noticeable than the lavender I still haven't found a solution for the sparkly-ness under the eyes (but it's not THAT big a deal) ----------------------------------------------------------- Click continue for better format
I kept the plastic inserts because I take the product from them (instead of dunking a finger/brush into the pot)
-12 grams of product -it's powder, but not fine powder...kind of thick (like it's wet) -$38 Canadian before taxes
Pros: -pretty colours with lots of shimmer -good shade variety: purple defines while the other shades highlight (the darker pink may be a definer as well, but you should probably use a dark eye liner with it) -I have no problem spreading this around with my finger (blending might be difficult) -jars are stackable so more organised storage
Cons: -shimmer fell down under the eyes, where I especially didn't want sparkles to be -colour fades within 2.5 hours (all I did was go to class...no exercising and not much sweating)...I used a shadestick as primer and haven't tried other primer alternatives
Neutral: -packaging was fine, but nothing amazing and nothing aweful -I'm not a HUGE fan of loose powders that don't have a sifter (be careful not to drop the container without its lid) -a little pricey, but it's a little better than buy separate pigments (by $2 less per gram)
Buy again if I get a way to keep the colours from fading so quickly
