Self Tanners -Yves Rocher - Autobronzant Lift Care Face

I'm very happy to have found this product!! I'm extremely critical when it comes to skincare products! My problem with self tanners for the face is that I often get a yellow/orange/sick color, they are drying to my skin (and hands after applying) and they smell bad. I was quite satisfied with Yves Rocher's "Bronze Nature", that unfortunately has been discontinued. After trying several disappointing self tanners, also the expensive ones with good reviews, I finally gave this one a try and I love it! It reminds me of "Bronze Nature", but better. It gives my porcelain pale skin (transparent during winter) the glow that I get naturally during the summer months! Not orange, not yellow, but tanned and even. It's also very fool proof. The consistency is good, very hydrating, not drying, and easy to apply. The smell is just like the "Bronze Nature", a little strong, but it smells of sweet flowers and doesn't have that classic self tanner smell. After one application I get a nice tan which lasts for a couple of days. It is recommended to apply every day until desired tan is achieved (maximum 4 days), and then apply every 3 days to maintain the color. I apply it in the night so I can wash the excess color off in the morning. That gives me the best result. As always, be careful with the hair line when you apply so it doesn't leave marks. It is so cheap! This just shows that quality doesn't always have something to do with price. As for the ingredients, I can't find a list of the ingredients!? But I think it does contain parabens which is something I normally try to avoid, however, since it's not applied every single day, it's okay with me. I will definitely recommend this product. If you are not used to self tanners or if you are very light skinned, this is also a good place to start.

Cleansers -Korres - Milk Proteins Foaming Cream Cleanser
rated 5 of 5

This is the best cleanser I've ever tried and I almost would go as far as saying that I look forward to use it every morning and night :-) I've stopped my search, because I've found my favorite cleanser. It leaves my skin clean (I remove all makeup first with a makeup remover), it's not drying, it's not irritating, it doesn't remind me of soap, it has a very discrete and calm smell which doesn't make you think of perfume at all, just clean, calm luxury for the skin. When using it, I have to wet my hands with hot water to make it foam. The packaging is fine and practical, not tacky. The ingredients are good, no parabens or harsh things. It was reviewed on Beautypedia as "good".

Moisturizers -Weleda - Wild Rose Face Oil Capsules
rated 3 of 5

I bought this oil based on the positive reviews. Unfortunately for some reason it doesn't work that well for me on my face. I have semi-dry and sensitive skin, also sensitive eyes. When it's applied it feels very good for the first hours, hydrating, softening, etc. But the next morning that effect is gone, the absorption seems superficial, it's hard to explain why, but my skin doesn't feel hydrated and soft, only superficially soft as if you could wash it off. Actually my skin seems a little dry the next morning since I don't apply a moisturizer when wearing this oil. I also think it gives me headache, it happens everytime. My eyes don't sting, but they feel tired when I wear it. Sometimes I get some red patches too on my most sensitive areas. As for the fragrance, that rose oil smell is not horrible, but a little heavy for my taste when I wear it on my face. I saw the review on Beautypedia, and it was rated as "poor" and one of the reasons was the fragrance. I now wear this on my neck after shower to use it up, my neck feels softer, I even consider buying the wold rose body oil. I wouldn't buy this again.

Skincare - Face -Mario Badescu - Cellufirm Drops

I really like this product! I use it under my night cream. My semi-sensitive skin and eyes tolerate this product which smoothens my skin, makes it look brighter and it moisturizes too. When the product was finished, I felt the difference when waking up in the mornings, my skin felt less soft. Whether the softness is a superficial layer that can be washed off, I dont know. As for fine lines, I don't know if I have seen a difference, maybe a slight improvement in skin texture, fine lines is not a problem for me yet though. The texture of the product is watery, the smell is ok. Price is fair and on Beautypedia it has received good reviews. I think it's paraben-free which is a huge plus.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Super Rescue Antioxidant Night Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
malabu 6/13/2012 4:26:00 PM

This is a very good night moisturizer, probably the best one I've tried. I bought the one for combination/dry skin. It moisturizes very well without feeling heavy, greasy or sticky on the skin. My skin feels very soft and I don't have any problems with breakouts or negative reactions from my sensitive skin or eyes. It should also be paraben free which is a plus. The smell is pretty neutral, it smells clean and isn't heavy. The only negative thing is that it's a bit expensive, but it's worth it. So far I have been using samples for 2 months now. I would definately buy this!

Self Tanners -Yves Rocher - Bronze Nature
rated 4 of 5
malabu 5/30/2012 6:35:00 AM

I wrote to Yves Rocher to ask why they didn't have this bronzer on their website anymore and they told me that it has been discontinued and they have made a new bronzer instead. I haven't tried that other one yet to compare. I really like the colour that I get from this self tanner for FACE. It's a very natural bronze, not orangy. I always apply it in the night and I wash the excess color off in the morning. It is very fool proof, some people might want a little more color, but for pale people this is really nice. To create a nice tan I have to apply for two nights, and to maintain the tan I have to apply it every two nights. I would have liked the applications to last a little longer. The smell isn't the typical heavy self tanner smell, it's actually ok. It's not super hydrating, so I use to apply it over my moisturizer. Absorbs well. Doesn't irritate my skin. Too bad that it has been discontinued, because it was a good product for few money.

Skincare -Clinique - Skin Supplies for Men Age Defense Hydrator SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
malabu 2/24/2012 11:49:00 PM

My boyfriend lives in a hot and humid tropical climate and he often gets oily on his forehead. He is, as most men, very hesitating when it comes to using a moisturizer in his face everyday. This moisturizer has been a success. He has not had any breakouts and doesn't get an oily forehead. It is light, easy to apply and moisturizing while being non-greasy, and then it has a nice discrete smell which fits men, but I don't think it contains perfume. It shouldn't contain parabens either. The SPF 15 is ofcourse a huge plus. I would recommend asking for a sample in the Clinique counter to try it out.

Bronzers -Too Faced - Chocolate Soleil
rated 3 of 5
malabu 2/23/2012 6:48:00 PM

As a BRONZER this one seems too orange for my pale skin which is why I give it an average rating. However, I use it as an EYESHADOW and it looks lovely on my blue (sometimes green?) eyes, so as an eyeshadow I would rate it 5. Normally, eyeshadows with orange and especially red tones (most browns), makes me look tired and I try to avoid them. They seem too heavy for me and drag my eyes downward instead of making me look awake. But this bronzer gives my eyes a lift! It has just the right intensity, color and tone that suits my eye and skin color perfectly! It makes me look bronzed. I apply it on my eyelids, into the crease and on my lower lashline. To add drama I use charcoal brown from MAC on the outer V or outer crease. If you find most eyeshadows too heavy or red and if you have blue-green eyes, try this product. I would buy it again as an eyeshadow, not as a bronzer.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Extra Virgin Olive Oil
rated 4 of 5
malabu 1/6/2012 9:27:00 AM

If I avoid applying this oil to my eyelids it has some very beneficial effects for my skin! I use it on my face as a hydrating mask or moisturizer overnight in ocations, if I use it every night my skin breaks out. It softens and hydrates my skin very much and removes the dry feeling totally. If applied on eyelids it makes my eyes sting and I wake up the next morning with very swelled eyelids and sometimes undereye bags - not recommendable. Sometimes just after application I have some slightly ichy spots on my skin, but it's nothing alarming or visible and I don't break out. I have reacted the same way to apricot kernel seed oil. I also use this as a hydration overnight treatment for the whole body once in a while just after taking a shower where I exfoliate the body with a body scrub first. It leaves my skin very soft. Remember to wear some clothes that can handle the excess oil. The best thing is that it has no harsh chemicals and its something you can find in your kitchen.

Shampoo -Redken - All Soft Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
malabu 12/15/2011 10:51:00 AM

This shampoo is so far the best one I've tried for my hair type. My hair is fine, but there's alot of it. This product is not too heavy as I have experienced with many drugstore shampoos. The smell is fine too. I need to use more than the hair dressers claim in order to make it foam and feel that my hair is cleansed well. I would prefer if it didn't contain parabens. All in all a good product, better than average! I will buy it again.

Concealers -MAC - Pro Longwear concealer
rated 3 of 5
malabu 12/6/2011 5:04:00 AM

I don't understand why this didn't cover my under-eye circles? I liked that it was creamy/dewy and with a very light consistency, but it didn't do much for me and it also settled a little bit into fine lines maybe because I continued applying more and more to try to cover those circles. Maybe I was wearing a moisturizer that was too heavy. It's just frustrating.

Moisturizers -Caudalie - Vinosource Riche Anti Wrinkle Nourishing Cream (very dry skin)
rated 2 of 5
malabu 11/26/2011 5:03:00 AM

First I didn't like it, then I forced myself to like it, and now I don't like it at all. The main problem with this moisturizer is it's consistency. It's a very rich moisturizer which does hydrate and soften my skin and my skin condition looks fine in general, but it is way too heavy and sticky, hard to apply and doesn't seem to sink into the skin even after several hours. I even feel like it makes fine lines more visble around the eyes. I decided to use it only for night time, but even in the night the stickiness bothers me and I can feel it without touching the skin. I also notice that my skin becomes a little irritated after application and the smell is not my favorite. I have normal skin that is not "very dry" so it might work for some. It contains NO PARABENS which is a plus. As for the packaging it's nice that it comes in a tube, but it's not the best tube, feels like there's alot of air in it. Wish it would be 50 ml instead of 40 ml like most moisturizers, I always feel like it's a trick to make it seem cheaper than it really is because it is a bit pricey. It has no SPF and I consider it too heavy for summer. I can't wear this under makeup, it turns too shiny. I will not repurchase this product. I saw the good reviews on makeupalley for the "Vinosource Anti Wrinkle Nourishing Cream" (which is the one for "dry skin", this one is the "riche" for very dry skin), but then I checked Paula Begoun's review of the effectiveness of it's ingredients and she was not very impressed, so I chose the "riche" that she gave a high score. What I find a bit problematic about Paula Bergoun is that she says that parabens are not harmful in any way so she totally ignores them, while in my country they have considered prohibiting parabens in skin care products and they advice pregnant women to avoid them if possible because they suspect that they can be harmful, so I wonder how Paula Begoun does her research. Paula Bergoun's review: An excellent though pricey moisturizer for dry to very dry skin. It contains a good range of emollients along with antioxidants, plus some cell-communicating ingredients. Although this contains fragrance, it does not contain the potentially sensitizing fragrance components that are present in many other Caudalie moisturizers. In the end, this has a good range of ingredients to help skin look and act younger.

Self Tanners -Vichy - Capital soleil autobronzant lingette
rated 3 of 5
malabu 11/16/2011 5:10:00 PM

This review is for Vichy - Auto bronzant Hydra bronzing milk for face and body. The first couple of times I liked it, but now the colour seems too orange for me and if I use it on the neck it applies streaky and uneven. The smell is not the worst, but I do sense it after application and it bothers me. I always apply in the night so I can wash the excess colour off in the morning. I think its paraben-free which is a plus. I would not buy it again.

Liquid -NARS - Sheer Glow Foundation
rated 3 of 5
malabu 9/8/2011 7:21:00 PM

I'm not sure if it's the color that's wrong or the foundation. The first time I applied it I loved it. But then I noticed how it conceals all the natural glow from my face (coverage is high medium) and makes it look like I'm wearing a pale, orange or yellow mask. It doesn't look healthy. It shines in the wrong places and also tend to look powdery at times. The bottle is horrible because it has no pump so there is a lot of mess and spill. As for the price, it's very expensive!
