Concealers -MAC - select moisturecover duo- Mickey Contractor

I really wanted this concealer when it came out, it was the first thing I grabbed from the collection. But, I think it is made for VERY dark undereye circles on very dark skin. I just can't make it work on my NC30 skin. But I'll put it on my kit, sometimes I come across with clients with very dark undereye circles, if I can make it work on them, I'll come back and edit this review!

Skincare - Face -MAC - Prep + Prime Skin Brightening Serum
rated 3 of 5

I'm not really sure what this product is supposed to do, so if I don't know, it probably means it's not doing much for me... I'm gonna finish the bottle anyway, as it's not breaking me out or anything, so I'll edit if I get any results over time.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Club Eye Shadow
rated 5 of 5

This is one of my all time favourite eyeshadows. It's so effortless to use, everybody should get one of these!! if you apply a black base (pencil, paint pot, grease stick, whatever) and apply club to the lid and slightly into the crease, you'll get the easiest smokey eye ever (actually, I feel like I'm cheating when I wear this one... is so effortless and looks like you spent 20 minutes blending the green and the brown). I always get compliments when I use this look. MUST have.

Makeup Brushes -Sigma - E30 Pencil brush (was SS219 )
rated 2 of 5
makeupholism 2/1/2011 12:54:00 AM

It's not a bad brush, but it will never be like the MAC 219. Mac's is stiffer, so it's less messy when smudging, and more precise. I do use the Sigma one, but if I had to choose, I'd stick to MAC for this one.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - Brush Belt
rated 3 of 5
makeupholism 2/1/2011 12:40:00 AM

Getting this brush belt meant a lot to me. I was starting as a makeup artist, and this brush belt made me feel like a pro. And that's the only reason why I keep it: sentimental reasons. Because, seriously, it's not that practical, with this brush belt, when you're travelling with your brushes, you have to make sure that you store them in a vertical position or they will get all over your makeup bag. And keeping them in a vertical is almost impossible unless you're just walking a couple of blocks or something. So I finally got a dirt cheap brush belt (same size as MAC's) that has this flap so it's a bit more like a brush roll for that matter. And I love it, I keep my work brushes there all the time. I've considered selling my MAC brush belt, but I guess I'm just sentimental. :)

Makeup Brushes -MAC - 208 Small Angled Brow
rated 5 of 5
makeupholism 2/1/2011 12:31:00 AM

This is my favorite brush for gel liner application. It's small enough to have control of the line, and big enough not to take forever to draw a line. I use it everytime I use gel liner, and also when I use mixing medium + eyeshadow for a precise line. A couple of weeks ago I misplaced it, and I had to go and buy an extra one, I was so frustrated everytime I needed to draw a line! Anyway, when I found the original one, I was twice as happy, 'cause now I have 2 of these beauties.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - 195 Concealer Brush
rated 3 of 5
makeupholism 2/1/2011 12:27:00 AM

This is my everyday concealer brush. First I got the 194, but I wasn't loving it, it's was kind of soft and took forever to apply cream concealers. So I got the 195 and that's all I use for concealer every single day.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #219 Pencil Brush

If there was an earthquake or some natural disaster, and I only had a chance of saving ONE thing from my cosmetics collection, it would be this brush. I LOVE it, I use it everyday. Love it for smudging eyeliner, love it for precise eyeshadow application on the lower lashline and on the outer corner of my eye... and on the inner corner... oh Lord, I love it. I love it so much I had to get an extra one (what if I need to apply a light color on the inner corner of my eye and I've already smudged black liner with it? I was in desperate need of an extra one). I do have the Sigma version of this one, and it's not the same, that one is softer, and I love how firm the MAC one is. This is by far my MAC favorite brush, get it!

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Expert Eyes in Velvet Black
rated 4 of 5
makeupholism 11/15/2010 3:16:00 AM

Well, there is no other way around this: you HAVE to warm it with a lighter. This is my favorite for inner rim application. And it's worth the trouble of having a lighter on your makeup kit: you get the blackest black that lasts a long time. I restock anytime I see them on sale, as I go through these like crazy. (I'm a MUA, so I have to sharpen it between clients). Get it if you're willing to have a lighter handy. Otherwise, stick to higher priced brands like Urban Decay (24/7 in Zero) or Makeup Forever, which also does a very good job.

Eyeliner -Tarte - emphasEYES Inner Rim Eyeliner
rated 1 of 5
makeupholism 11/15/2010 3:06:00 AM

I got this one on a black eyeline kit by Sephora (the other products in the kit are pretty good), but this one is a total dissapointment, DO NOT BUY!! although it seems like a great concept, it does not work. It's WAY too hard, if you apply it you get a tiny bit of grayness, and if you work it, it literally hurts real bad, it's VERY dry. So I will stick to my beloved and creamy 24/7 by UD, or the tiny Maybelline pencil (I learned from the Scott Barnes book to warm it with a lighter and you get the blackest black that lasts forever). Seriously, save your money.

Treatments -Clinique - Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector
rated 1 of 5
makeupholism 10/14/2010 7:25:00 PM

I went through a whole bottle of this product and I can say it did NOTHING for me. That's it, that's all I have to say. I really wanted to like this product, but seriously, I feel cheated. Total waste of money.

Mascara -MAC - Mascara X
rated 5 of 5
makeupholism 8/7/2010 1:32:00 AM

I had never heard a word about this mascara before, but I got it as a gift, so I immediately gave it a try. I own other Mac mascaras (Opulash and Zoom Fast), that I don't plan on buying again, but Mascara X I loved!!! it gives you a great natural look (I hate thick mascaras that clump and look like spiders on your eyes), yet enhances the eye... it defines my lashes, no clumps at all, and you can use a couple of coats for a very nice volume and length. Along with Benefit Bad Gal, this is my favorite mascara right now.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - 138 Tapered Face Brush
rated 5 of 5
makeupholism 4/20/2010 2:26:00 AM

This is my favorite brush for loose powder... I'd own 5 more if it weren't this expensive! anyway, I love it because it is SUPER soft... This is how the MUA sold it to me...I wasn't really into it until she put it to my face. Then I said "I want it".

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - BADgal Lash
rated 5 of 5
makeupholism 4/20/2010 2:13:00 AM

I can't believe this Mascara only has such a low would-buy-again rate! I'm a makeup addict, so I'm always trying new products. I have 10 other mascaras and I keep coming back to this one. I have long lashes thanks to Lilash, so I really like showing them off and this mascara does the work. I love the HUGE wand and the fact that it won't clump. A couple of layers and I'm good to go! I absolutely love it.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #130 Short Duo Fibre Brush
rated 5 of 5
makeupholism 3/24/2010 2:25:00 AM

I bought this brush just because I am a Mac freak and I have to have all of their brushes. Yeah, I know it's unnecesary, but I have most of their brushes and no, I don't use all of them. Anyway, I bought this one, and I am madly in love with this one. I used to apply foundation with the 190, sometimes the 191 if I was looking for a sheer application, but then the 130 became the one and only for me. I gives you a flawless finish, and you need very little product (I use Studio Sculpt and Studio Tech). Cleaning it is sooo easy, I just spray a little Mac Brush Cleanser, wipe it on a kleenex, and the white bristles are white again! The 190 requires tons of brush cleanser or shampoo/water to clean. I love the fact that it's not too big, so I get to apply concealer with it too. I really want to buy another one, because I think it will be amazing for creme blush too! This, and my beloved 219 brush, are my Mac favorites. :)
