i am EXTREMELY disappointed in this product!!! after reading all of the wonderful reviews here and getting a rec from my friend, i decided to give this a try since my hair had faded to a brassy/orangey color. MY HAIR HAS NEVER BEEN SO DRY IN IT'S ENTIRE LIFE!!! after rinsing out the dye, i actually thought someone had replaced my hair with straight up hay! it was so dry and so tangly, and i was very very very mad. The conditioner was also unimpressive, and smelled funny. This has also been the only hair dye that has ever caused irritation on my scalp, and i have tried MANY different brands, but after such an atrocious experience, i think my exploring days might be over... To sum everything up: Pros: -cheap -covers grays very well (super happy, yay for stress-induced gray hair) Cons: -DESTROYS hair, not damages, DESTROYS -color came out BLACK not dark brown (3N) -messy -irritation -did i mention DRY HAIR! i will absolutely not buy again. never.
A little bit about my hair: -asian black/dark brown (previously dyed dark brown once w/ semi-permanent dye, almost no affect on hair though) -long -straight and super healthy I used the color 112 Dark Auburn and lightened my base color slightly, but it gave me beaauuttifulll red/auburn streaks that were clearly visible in the sun. I have had sooo many compliments on my hair saying how pretty it looked on me, so I am very pleased. I wasn't going for any drastic change and only wanted to amp up my old hair with some more dimension, and this color did just that for me :) 3 weeks in and the color has faded lighter in my opinion, and it is still so pretty. Will update at the 6 week mark (unless i redye just cause i find dying my hair fun) My hair is still silky soft and i haven't noticed any serious damage to my hair. Pros: -easy to use (not drippy like other hair dyes i've used) -did not sting -excellent color :) -there are always coupons for $2 off clairol products Cons: -smell (burned my nose and took a long time to get used to) -absorbed super fast in roots, i started at the bottom of my hair and worked upwards, but i noticed that my roots were lighter than the rest of my hair (not extremely noticeable though) Will absolutely continue to buy and can't wait to try out other colors!
ABSOLUTELY LOOVVEE THIS COLOR! it's more of a purpley taupe over a brown taupe in my opinion, but it's still gorgeous on the lid. i love that it's matte too! this has AMAZING staying power! my lids are extremely oily and even w/ a primer my liner and shadow will crease by the end of the day HOWEVER i have used this cream shadow w/o a primer and even through those late night study days, the shadow has just barely begun to crease by 2 in the morning! i am absolutely floored by it's staying power! 1000% love!
Hair Color -L'Oreal - Healthy Look Creme Gloss Color

This was my first time dying my hair, and being a noob i didn't know that semi-permanent color wouldn't lighten the hair... I have black-dark brown asian hair and i used the one in Dark Brown (4 i believe) I didn't notice much change in my hair color (well...obviously since it doesn't lighten hair), but in the sun i notice the brown color coming through. Pros: -the smell (kind of fruity in my opinion) -the conditioner! absolutely amazzzinnng, made my hair so soft -after coloring my hair still felt the same and i noticed it was a bit shinier Cons: -the solution was a bit runny and i found random splatters of dye after i had finished -grey coverage wasn't amazing, covered most of them, but i still found a few (i don't have a lot of greys, but still i don't want any showing through) For the sake of the review i said I would buy it again since i liked the product, however i probably won't because my hair is naturally healthy anyway
My HG mascara for now. This does not (emphasis on does NOT) give you big dramatic lashes - which is not the look I go for for everyday. For me, this mascara gives nicely defined with volume lashes - basically natural lashes with an "oomph" I LOVE this for everyday and it holds a curl amazingly!
Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion

Absolutely love this lotion! I have used this for years and years on end! For me, this stuff works amazingly! Some complaint I have though are: 1. the pump. The pump is one of those awkward ones where you have to shoot it out otherwise the lotion will dribble all over the bottle and because of that, I have to use 2 pumps to get enough of the lotion for my face, but at the same time 2 is almost too much. 2. i have combination skin, so no extreme dryness. Although this is for the dryer skin types I wouldn't recommend it for dry skin because it is not a very heavy lotion as I have experienced a few times in extremely cold winters. Also, i only use this at night as I use a lotion with spf during the day.
Overall decent product. I enjoy the light-grape scent and although the hold is not the strongest, it is still decent. One downside that I had with this product was that it made my hair feel a bit crunch when too much was applied in one spot. However, with a general spray, crunch free.
Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies Waterproof Mascara

I love this mascara!!!! I bought the waterproof version in black drama and haven't had any problems at all with it. It hasn't clumped too badly for me, which seems to be the problem for most people. Gives great volume and holds a curl really well. Not much on length, but wasn't expecting much anyway. Lasts a really long time and doesn't smudge! Even in intense heat and sweat. So far, my favorite mascara <3
This mascara really did a good job holding my curl and giving nice length. However, because of that if you applied to much, or didn't combine it with a volumizing mascara, you would end up with long, slightly unattractive, tarantula lashes... But WITH a volumzing mascara, it gives B-Y-UTIFUL lashes! I found that without using a primer this smudged allll over my eye, but perhaps that's just because I have very oily lids, but this hasn't happened to me before. In order to prevent MAJOR clumping make sure you use the mascara IMMEDIATELY after using the primer. Overall, it is an alright mascara, but has to be applied juuust right in order to obtain beautifully curled lashes. And that's just too much work for me.
This product was alright. Cleansed well and made my skin feel nice and clean. However, I felt like it didn't do anything for my acne. So probably won't buy again. Just not for me.
Moisturizers -Biore - Nourish Moisture Lotion SPF 15
makeupgrl2008 11/23/2010 6:48:00 PM
This moisturizer works well, not amazing, but not bad either. It's just ok. Although it sinks in well and feels light weight, it appears greasy and shiny on the skin. I wouldn't wear it alone because of that. Overall, ok moisturizer, but I prefer the Dual Fusion one instead. Update: One rating down 'cause I find that it makes me break out. Poo...
This, i believe, has become my HG morning moisturizer. it has spf 30 which i think is perfect because i think 15 is too little, especially since i'm in the sun a lot. the lotion is light, but still very effective. this lotion finishes matte and doesn't make me oily at all. i think for people who have issues with the pump, the picture that describes how to fix it really works. :) update: The sunscreen might work a little too well as my face is somewhat paler than the rest of my body. lol. after finishing my first bottle STILL IN LOVE WITH THE PRODUCT!!!
Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara Waterproof
makeupgrl2008 9/18/2010 3:47:00 PM
I absolutely LOVEEEE this mascara!!!! It makes my lashes more defined and slightly more volumized. It won't give you that false lashes look, but gives more than just natural lashes. I think it's the perfect between natural and false. Not to mention this hold's my curl like there's no tomorrow! and my lashes almost never stay curled throughout the day! but this mascara is just AMAZING! i would buy this over and over. one random problem i have with it though is that for some reason (and i only put mascara on the top lashes) i always find smudges on the bottom of my eye. not drastic though, just a little.
Concealers -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Concealer
makeupgrl2008 6/27/2010 2:20:00 PM
I really like this concealer, the color matches me perfectly and covers my imperfections flawlessly. The problem I have though is that when I put a powder (other than the l'oreal true match powder) the concealer gets really cakey looking. Maybe it's just me or that particular powder, but other than that, really loving this concealer.
This works really well as a moisturizer and it goes on really light and soaks in fast HOWEVER this broke me out sooo bad. By the end of the day i had little bumps all over my face and it took me a while to realize that it was the moisturizer that broke me out. So great moisturizing power (and spf too!) but broke me out.
