Shampoo -Batiste - Tropical Dry Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
makeupfun21 5/14/2013 9:40:00 PM

Scent is a huge deal for me when evaluating a dry shampoo. I like this scent a lot better than Batiste's dry shampoo in "Blush" (which smells like flowers dipped in baby-powder, decaying in a sac of garbage). I happen to like coconutty smells for the summer, so "Tropical" is A-OK by me. It works fairly well. Of course, nothing compares to ACTUALLY washing your hair (with water and shampoo and conditioner)... but, for a dry shampoo, this does the job and doesn't smell too offensive (imo).

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Sweet Pea body Lotion
rated 4 of 5

I have a travel size lotion in Sweet Pea. Yes, the scent is strong... but it's very fresh. It's not a cloying, overly sweet scent. It just smells like fresh, dewy flowers. The lotion itself is very moisturizing and the travel size bottle is super convenient to carry around in my purse.

Lip Treatments -Maybelline - Baby Lips lip balm in Pink Punch
rated 2 of 5
makeupfun21 5/3/2013 9:34:00 AM

To be honest, I was disappointed. The formula is wayyy below average for what it claims to do (and for the price). It didn't feel that moisturizing on my lips. The formula almost felt dry and powder-y (if that makes any sense?). I feel like I need to put real lip balm on BEFORE I put the Baby Lips stuff on because the formula is so drying. Pink Punch has a nice colour, but even then the pink can become too overpowering if you apply the balm more than three times throughout the day. I like to apply lip balms several times throughout the day and I can't do that with Pink Punch because it makes my lips extremely bubble-gum pink. The packaging looks cute, but it feels so cheap and poorly made. I feel like the packaging will break very soon. The only thing I liked about this lip balm was the scent-- very fruity (smells like Juicy Fruit gum to me). I can't believe I let myself get sucked into buying this over-hyped, over-priced, below average lip balm. I will not be re-purchasing.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - I Need a Refresh-Mint
rated 4 of 5
makeupfun21 4/20/2013 5:51:00 PM

A really beautiful Robin's egg blue. (A bit of an aqua shade, too, I suppose.) This will be a great nail polish for spring/summer! Of course, the price is amazing. Love Wet n' Wild nail polishes!!!!! I took one lippie off for the thick/wide brush. I have tiny nail beds, so I prefer smaller brushes (like in the Wet n' Wild "Wild Shine" line). I would repurchase though since the color and formula of the polish are great!!

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Wild Shine Nail Color in Lavender Creme
rated 5 of 5
makeupfun21 4/7/2013 8:16:00 PM

I have this nail polish on my nails right now. It's a bright, pretty, summer-y pink. (Haha, it definitely is not a "lavender" colour like the name suggests.) Very shiny and glossy, but no shimmer. Love it for spring and summer-- it makes me feel super girly! Again, I have to give a shout out to the insanely cheap price (only a $1.57 at Walmart in Canada).

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - French White Creme
rated 5 of 5
makeupfun21 4/7/2013 8:09:00 PM

I was looking for an opaque, matte, white nail polish. Most that I tried were far too sheer and shimmery and just didn't do the job. However, 'French White Creme" is the first white nail polish that I have tried that actually shows up as opaque with only two coats applied. It's a creamy and glossy opaque white without any shimmer or glitter. I'm so happy with this purchase! Insanely affordable ($1.57 at Walmart in Canada) and true to the shade in the bottle!! Wet n' Wild, please NEVER stop making nail polishes... they continually amaze and impress me!! I haven't been disappointed yet with any of the polishes that I've tried from the Wild Shine line (and I've tried a lot of them).

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Wild Shine in Red Red #414A
rated 5 of 5
makeupfun21 4/5/2013 7:26:00 PM

I really like this nail polish and am not at all surprised that it received the "Kiss of Approval Beauty Award" from Cosmo. It's a very fire engine red without any shimmer and I can actually imagine myself wearing it in the spring and summer more than in the colder months-- I tend to wear much more deep, shimmery reds in the fall or over the winter holidays. I only needed to apply one coat to get the exact colour seen in the bottle-- it's completely opaque! For only $1.75 at Walmart, I am extremely impressed.I love this line of nail polish in general. I haven't been disappointed yet!! Wet n' Wild nail polishes are also all Toluene, phthalate, and formaldehyde free (which is somewhat comforting to know) AND they do NOT test on animals. All this for under 2 dollars. Friggin' amazing. I will (obviously) repurchase!

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Wild Shine - Eggplant Frost 417F
rated 5 of 5
makeupfun21 4/2/2013 3:57:00 PM

I AM IN LOVE WITH THE WET N' WILD MEGA SHINE NAIL POLISHES! They are sooo incredibly cheap, but work just as well (or better) than Revlon, Essie, or O.P.I. nail polishes that are much more pricey. Eggplant Frost is soooo beautiful. It's a rich, gorgeous metallic navy blue/ purple. Very pretty! Only two coats are needed and it doesn't chip easily. :) LOVE!

Foundations -Almay - TLC Truly Lasting Color
rated 5 of 5
makeupfun21 3/27/2013 5:51:00 PM

HG foundation by far! (I use this foundation in the shade "Buff".) Pros: oil-free, has SPF, has antioxidants in the formula, not greasy, but also not drying, never breaks me out over the six years that I have been using this product (I could sleep in this foundation and I wouldn't break out). I love the packaging and this product lasts me SUCH a long time. I probably repurchase like once a year. (I could probably go even longer than that! I don't think I've ever used a full bottle of this stuff up.) The ONLY con about this product is that it has some SPF in it, which can sometimes show up as ghastly white in flash-photography-- but you can easily fix that problem by wearing a little powder or bronzer that doesn't have any SPF in it over the foundation. I suppose another minor con is that the majority of these foundations are more pink-toned than olive-toned or yellow-toned. However, Buff has a lot of yellow pigment in it and works beautifully for me, so I really have nothing to complain about. Bottom line, this product is amazing and I will continue to repurchase.

Lips -Nivea - Lip Smoothie Cranberry and Raspberry
rated 2 of 5
makeupfun21 3/13/2013 4:01:00 PM

I agree with the previous review... this is the strangest product! It smells great and feels suuuuuper creamy and moisturizing immediately after it is applied. But, after about an hour when the product had sunk in, my lips were flaking and extremely dry and itchy. I'm not sure if this is because I live in a very dry climate right now (winter season in Canada). I think this product only "works" if you apply it about every 20 minutes... you can't ever let it dry and sink into your lips or else they'll be super dry and itchy. So bizarre! I'll give it another shot in the summer and see if it works better in a different climate. It's a pity though because this product functions as a sort of lip gloss with high shine and a light pink tint-- if only the moisturizing aspect of it actually worked! *sigh*

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Love Love Love Body Lotion
rated 4 of 5
makeupfun21 2/26/2013 4:15:00 PM

I don't really get a "wine" or "alcohol" scent from this lotion. I have the little travel-sized lotion of this product and to me it smells like plums and sugar! I don't mind it-- not the best, but I have definitely smelled worse from Bath and Body Works. The lotion itself works really well-- leaves my hands super soft! =)

Treatments -Burt's Bees - Herbal Blemish Stick
rated 1 of 5
makeupfun21 2/10/2013 11:23:00 AM

I tried this product maybe around two years ago. It did NOT work for me and I threw it out after giving it three tries! I also really dislike the packaging-- it's unhygienic. I'd stick to Clean & Clear's Benzoyl Peroxide .5% treatment any day-- it works the best and quickest for me whenever I get a blemish.

Lip Treatments -eos - Lip Balm
rated 4 of 5
makeupfun21 2/3/2013 7:40:00 PM

I'm not sure if this is the correct product I'm writing a review for, but I have an EOS lip balm in the aqua coloured sphere (mint flavour). I loveeeee the smooth little egg-shaped packaging. So effin' cute. I do kind of like that the ingredients are supposedly mostly "natural" (even though I'm not sure if I really believe that any cosmetic product is actually natural). I also like how minty it smells and tastes. However, I'm not sure how well this product actually works-- it's decent. I will finish up my little egg lip balm, but this product isn't really a holy grail product for me. It works just as well as pretty much any other minty chapstick. I actually think Blistex Smoothies or Chapstick in mint work better in terms of making my lips feel smoother. To be honest, the adorable egg packaging of EOS just sucked me in to paying a few bucks more for it.

Fragrances -Calgon - Hawaiian Ginger
rated 4 of 5
makeupfun21 1/23/2013 6:28:00 PM

As another reviewer has noted, this scent makes me feel happy and alive when I spray it or smell it. It's hard to describe, but it is very tropical and sweet smelling and reminds me of summer and a date at the beach. My friend in high school used to wear this body spray and it always smelled so lovely. Unlike Calgon's Marshmallow body spray, I don't feel too old to wear this and would totally rock this scent in the summer!

Fragrances -Calgon - Mmmm Marshmallow body spray
rated 4 of 5
makeupfun21 1/23/2013 6:14:00 PM

I used to think this spray was absolute perfection in high school. (I used to really love the sweet, sugary, foody/vanilla scents when I was fifteen.) It's still a very "cute", innocent scent that brings me back to my early teen days. I love the packaging with the adorable little marshmallows all over it it. This scent is not spicy-- maybe a liiiitttle bit musky, but still light and wearable in any season. Mostly, it just smells of pure sugar and fresh vanilla-- true to its name, very marshmallow-y. Although I don't really wear this body spray any more, I give it 4 lippies for its cute packaging and being true to its name (smells just like sweet marshmallows), affordable, and wearable (IMO).
