Crème -Maybelline - Dream Smooth Mousse
majorbummmer 12/30/2011 1:36:00 AM
there are lots of pros and cons to this product. let me talk about the good things. it has great coverage, totally covers any and all imperfections. it stays on all day. i got a great color match (i'm in shade Nude Beige). it doesn't oxidize. it has a nice texture. it's easy to apply. it doesn't feel heavy. now for the bad. despite what it claims, it does not hydrate at all. in fact, it left me looking flaky and dry. the packaging is horrible, the sponge is useless, and there is barely any product in the container. it can definitely look cakey and mask-y if you're not careful. i'm going to try and see what i can do with this, as i'm not too fond of it as a foundation, but i don't want to just throw it away because i paid for it! sigh. i just want a nice drugstore foundation that works with dry skin...is that too much to ask for? i'm going to try maybelline's fit me foundation next, hopefully that one goes over better.

Eyeliner -Unlisted Brand - LA Splash "Purple Sponge"
majorbummmer 12/24/2011 3:46:00 AM
this review is for the shade Purple Tide, which i ordered from cherryculture...imagine my surprise when it finally came and it was hot pink! it's surprisingly gorgeous and flattering on me, though. it makes my hazel eyes pop. it's such a unique liner color, i love it. the applicator is reeeally long, which i actually like! it makes it easier for me to draw a nice even line. takes up a lot of space in my makeup drawer though, lol. i don't usually like brush applicators on my liquid liners, as they're hard for me to use, but i don't mind this one. i just wish it were easier to make thin lines with it. the formula is really nice. it goes on opaque in one swipe. it doesn't burn my lids. it hasn't smudged or creased on me, then again, i don't have very greasy lids. i like that it isn't waterproof because it's easier to wash off. overall, i freakin' love this liner, and i will definitely be buying more in different colors...there are so many to choose from, it's great! this brand is definitely a gem.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational
majorbummmer 12/24/2011 2:38:00 AM
my feelings are very mixed when it comes to this lipstick line. when it's good, it's really good. when it's bad, it's reeeally bad. i bought three of these (and a lip gloss) when walgreens was having a BOGO1/2 on maybelline products. the three shades i got were bit of berry, warm me up, and coral crush. i wanted coral crush because i read somewhere that it was a dupe for MAC's toxic tale. and apparently bit of berry is a dupe for MAC's craving as well. i don't actually own any MAC, but that's what i've heard! so i picked them up. i loved warm me up and bit of berry. coral crush...not so much. ok, let me go over the positives. the two shades that did work slide on nicely without tugging and were extremely pigmented. they don't settle into lines. they didn't dry my lips out, though they weren't particularly moisturizing either. the shades were also gorgeous. they last for a while without fading, too. they would probably be my favorite line of drugstore lipsticks....if it weren't for the negatives. now, the negatives. they smell. like playdoh. i don't mind much, but i know others will. the smell doesn't linger around after application. however, coral crush smelled like straight up crayons. it turns out that coral crush had gone bad. i was soooo pissed when i tried to put it on, and the color wouldn't even show up. it actually made my lips burn. someone probably opened it in-store then put it back on the shelf. that's another thing i don't like. the fact that you can open the lipstick in store, which leads to it going bad. though apparently these lipsticks go bad fast anyway! i mean rimmel lipsticks can be opened in-store, yet i've never had this problem with them! so maybelline needs to fix this, asap. despite all this, however, i would buy these lipsticks again, if only because they're really pretty. i would just have to make sure that they haven't gone bad before i buy them, which unfortunately involves sniffing them (the people who work at my local walgreens already think i'm weird, though, so whatever). i'm going to try buying coral crush again in spring, because it's such a pretty color and i'm dumb like that haha. but yeah. be careful when buying these lipsticks!

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous in Coral Reef
majorbummmer 12/23/2011 8:18:00 PM
i bought this because i love another one of revlon's super lustrous glosses, pink pop, so i thought why not? the color is gorgeous, and i can't wait to wear it for spring. it's a nice coral with some pink in it. it's pretty pigmented actually, which is good, because i hate lip glosses that just give me a tint of color. lots of people don't like the smell, but it doesn't bother me much. i can't smell it while wearing it. however, the formula on this one seemed a lot different than the one for pink pop. coral reef was a lot stickier than pink pop, for one. which i don't mind too much, as it helps the gloss last longer (and this gloss lasts for a looong time without fading). it also felt a bit...stiffer? it didn't glide onto my lips very easily. so that was weird. overall, it's a nice gloss, but not as good as pink pop from the same line.

Foundations -NYX - Hd foundation
majorbummmer 12/21/2011 9:02:00 PM
edit: found that this slightly oxidizes on me. :/ so knocking it down a lippie for that. also, i've found that this applies best with a stippling brush. let me start this review off by saying that this is my first foundation. so technically, i'm a newbie to this stuff. but i think i've read/watched enough reviews/guides to know what i'm looking for in a foundation. and while NYX HD foundation isn't perfect, it is pretty damn good. the shade i got, 04 Sand Beige, is a perfect match! well, actually, it's a liiiiittle bit lighter than my face, but it perfectly matched my neck and chest, which was what i was going for. however, i was lucky to be able to find a color match. i'm pretty disappointed in NYX's color range for this foundation. there are no shades available for people on the lighter and darker side of the spectrum. also, even if you do find a shade that's your color, it may end up being the wrong undertone for you. thankfully, Sand Beige is very yellow-toned indeed, so it matches me just right. the coverage is pretty good as well. it's light-to-medium, i'd say, definitely buildable. i keep it at a light coverage though. i like that it has a light coverage, so that i don't feel like i'm wearing a mask/can let my skin breathe. keep in mind that i'm only using foundation to even out my skintone, not to cover up any significant scars/acne/etc. so if that's what you're looking for, this foundation may not offer enough coverage. the finish is good, just not what i was expecting. i expected it to be dewier! on me, the finish is almost matte, but not quite, with a little bit of sheen on my forehead and cheekbones (it isn't greasy looking, it just looks like i'm naturally glowy, which is cool). it does make my skin look pretty flawless though! the wear is good. i went through the entire school day without it wearing one bit. of course, almost everything has a longer wear time on me because my skin is so dry. the ONE thing i didn't like is that, if i'm not careful when applying, the foundation makes my forehead look flakey, which is a bummer. it doesn't do this on the rest of my face, just my forehead! so yeah. this was my first experience with foundation, and i must say i'm pretty pleased! this was my first day wearing it, so i can't be sure if it will break me out or not. if it does, i'll update this review. i don't think it will, as i don't have sensitive skin. so far, everything seems good! it's definitely worth the money i paid for it ($11.99 on cherryculture). if you're looking for an inexpensive foundation that will look good in pictures, this is a good bet!

Blush -Maybelline - Dream Mousse Blush - All colors [DISCONTINUED]
majorbummmer 11/25/2011 4:06:00 PM
i'll be honest. there are lots of problems with this product. i personally either haven't experienced or just don't mind them. so the 4 lippie rating is because i personally think they deserve 4 stars, but i will acknowledge that this product won't work for everyone. first of all, these blushes have shimmer in them. lots of it. they're pretty small, so you won't end up with huge chunks of glitter on your face, but they are noticeably sparkly. this can accentuate pores and other flaws in the face, so beware. all of the colors i have (pink frosting, rose petal, and soft plum) have shimmer, though other colors may be matte, i'm not sure. second of all, the texture. true to name, they are mousse-like. i love the texture. i don't feel like i'm wearing anything on my face, it's so light. it's so easy to blend so there aren't any harsh edges. however, on the occasional days when i'm a bit oily, i do notice that the blush can feel a bit greasy. so i imagine that on gals with oily skin this blush won't work. none of the blushes have broken me out, thankfully, but there's definitely a possibility, as shown in the reviews below. these blushes also last the entire day on me, with significant fading, but still, you can tell that i have blush on. once again, keep in mind that my skin is pretty dry. so on oily skin this blush probably won't last for long! third of all, the colors. i love the colors!! pink frosting is a cool dolly pink that instantly brightens my complexion. rose petal is a soft muted brownish pink on me, it's almost like a nude blush (which doesn't really make sense, i know lol), though it does give me color. soft plum is my favorite. it's the most pigmented of the three, so if you're not careful you could end up with clown cheeks. it's a plum color, true to name, and it is very beautiful, especially for the winter months. fourth of all, the price. being drugstore products, these are much cheaper than higher end products, which is convenient. i'm a cheapskate and got rose petal, soft plum, and a backup of pink frosting for $3.99 each when they usually retail for around $7 - $8 each. you actually get a lot of product in each little jar. especially since you don't need a lot of product to cover each cheek. if you rotate between lots of blushes (like me!) then you probably won't ever run out. so if you have dry, non-sensitive skin, and an even complexion, you might enjoy these blushes as much as i do (as long as you don't mind shimmer!). otherwise, you might want to stay away!

Lipstick -Revlon - ColorBurst in 070 Soft Nude [DISCONTINUED]
majorbummmer 11/25/2011 3:30:00 PM
love love loooove this lipstick. the packaging is nice and sturdy, doesn't feel flimsy at all. the bullet is shaped a little weirdly, but i work around it, and if you really don't like it you could always use a lip brush! tbh it's a bit expensive for a drugstore product, at around $8-$10 bucks, but i got it on sale for around $5 so i'm good. i love the color so much though that i would gladly repurchase it at full price!!!! this was my first really nude lipstick (before i just wore MLBB shades), and i'm so glad that i chose this one! the color is amazing on me. it's very peachy, so while it does significantly lighten my lips it still has color to it. it doesn't wash me out and give me the dreaded concealer lips. however, it does go on pretty patchy and unevenly. i wear clear lipgloss over it to fix that problem! and if you have flakey lips this lipstick will probably accentuate that. also it won't last through eating. overall, i love this lipstick and it was a great lead-in to the world of nude lipsticks!

Eye Shadow -NYX - Eyeshadow Trio TS21 (Copper Rust Bronze)
majorbummmer 11/8/2011 10:26:00 PM
i absolutely love this palette!!!! all the colors have a reddish tone to them, which may put some people off, but it makes my hazel eyes POP and look absolutely GREEN. the colors are silky smooth, easy to blend, and soooooooo pigmented!! there is some fallout, so you should probably do your eye makeup before your foundation/concealer to avoid having to clean up. the colors go so well together! they look great on my fair but warm skintone. the packaging is nice as well, very sleek, compact, and the large mirror is very useful. the brush included is pretty useless (when i tried to use it to apply one of the shadows on top of another, it seemed to actually be blending away the shadow-wtf?), but who buys these things for the brushes? i have my own to use, so it doesn't really matter lol. overall, this palette gets an A from me!

Blush -Sinful - Pleasure Rush
majorbummmer 11/5/2011 6:31:00 PM
i actually have a sinful colors blush in another color, doux sable, but i couldn't find this listed as a separate product. i'm planning on getting pleasure rush next anyway! first thing i noticed when i got this blush in the mail was that the product itself is actually really really small. and it's also kind of hard to open at first. but the actual blush is fab! doux sable is a dark brown-based red. it looks amazing on my fair, warm skin, especially since it's fall right now. very pigmented, so a light hand is a must, depending on your skintone. the blush itself looks matte in the pan, but has subtle microshimmer. it applies smoothly and evenly on my cheeks. it also lasts for my entire school day. there is a bit of fading, but the color is definitely still there by the time i get home. i love it and i can't wait to get more! i'll edit this when i get more colors.

Lipstick -NYX - Lipstick- #529 Thalia
majorbummmer 11/5/2011 6:07:00 PM
i reeeally wanted to like this lipstick. sadly, i didn't. first of all, the color was just not for me at all!!! i bought it thinking it would be a nice neutral pinky-mauve color. instead, i got this muted, gray-ish pink, that looked really muddy and just generally gross on me. like another reviewer below, it might be because of my skintone, which is very yellow. second of all, the smell wasn't all too pleasant... this wasn't too much of a problem for me personally, because i've dealt with worse smelling lipsticks before (cough milani cough), but some others might not like it. third of all, the packaging. it feels reeeeally flimsy, like if i carry it in my makeup bag, the cap would pop off and lipstick would get everywhere. plus, a chunk of the actual lipstick bullet randomly started melting! i had to put it in my fridge to save it... also the taste was really gross. a little got in my mouth... bleugh. i'm glad i only got this for $1.99 from cherryculture. i did like the texture of the lipstick though, it slid on easily and felt creamy. so overall, this lipstick was a miss for me personally. however, i do love the other two NYX lipsticks i got (a black label one and a matte one) so i will try out more from those lines!

Blush -Jordana - Blush- Classic Bronze
majorbummmer 10/20/2011 12:16:00 AM
i've been wearing this blush almost every day since i've gotten it! absolutely love it. it's VERY pigmented, so apply with a light hand, especially if you're fair-skinned (like me!). i apply it straight up as a blush, though i could definitely use it as a bronzer, or possibly even a contour. i wouldn't recommend this for people with cool undertones, as it would probably look a little bit 'off'. being a pale hispanic girl with warm undertones, just applying this to my cheeks gives the illusion of a nice, flushed, natural tan (much like one i'd get during the summer) without being totally fake/dramatic looking. can't wait to wear this during the warmer months! it's dirt cheap, too, which is a total plus. i'm definitely going to go and buy more.

Mascara -NYX - NYX Doll Eye Mascara- Long Lash
majorbummmer 10/19/2011 11:53:00 PM
my opinions on this mascara are pretty divided... on one hand, i love how long and, well, doll-like it makes my lashes look (when applied right). the brush is small enough to get at my lower lashes as well. the dry formula doesn't weigh down my lashes, and it means that i don't have to wait forever for it to dry! however, on the other hand, i hate the packaging. the brush just grabs way too much mascara! i literally have to spend a minute or two wiping the access off on the tube before i let it anywhere near my lashes. otherwise it'll just be a huge gloppy mess. also this mascara isn't really great for separating (unless you spend a good long while making sure it looks perfect). it's also very easy to get clumpy with this mascara. this definitely isn't one of my 'put on in 30 seconds and go' mascaras. all in all, i'd say this mascara gets a 'meh' from me. which is a shame, because i really wanted to love it! instead, i just like it. i most likely won't be repurchasing this anytime soon (i had to order it online, no way am i doing that again just for a mascara i only 'like'), so i'll just use up the tube i already have. this was my first purchase from NYX, so hopefully the eyeshadows that i'm going to try out next are better!

Eyeliner -Jordana - Fabu Liner Liquid Eyeliner Pen
majorbummmer 10/19/2011 11:34:00 PM
i think i've found my HG black liquid liner! this was my first jordana purchase, and i was very impressed (so impressed i decided to try out their blushes, which i also love, but that's another review altogether). the color, tbh, goes on a little sheer for my tastes, though you can layer it to make it even darker. however this can be a good thing if you don't want your liner to be too intense. you can make extremely thin or thick lines with this. the liner goes on extremely smooth. it wears all day without any fading (i don't have oily lids, though i imagine that it would hold up on them as well!) i've had this for a few months now and it hasn't dried out yet, unlike many of my other liners. i use this everyday, and i love it! would recommend this to any liquid liner newbie, any person looking for a good deal, or any fellow eyeliner lover! i wish it came in more colors, though.

Mascara -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Length Mascara
majorbummmer 9/17/2011 10:21:00 PM
i've been looking for a new mascara, since my Revlon mascara (too lazy to type out the long name hah) is starting to dry out. and as you all know, dried out mascara = major spiderlegs! i never really liked that mascara all that much anyway. i was about to repurchase it, thank god i didn't! instead i spent my money on this way cheaper, and as it turns out, way better, Wet 'n' Wild mascara. i got this for $2.50 at Big Lots, and it usually sells for a little more than that. i love this mascara! i'm a big fan of lengthening mascaras (not really into volume tbh, give me length, baby!), and this one does not disappoint. the formula is nice and lightweight, so my lashes don't feel weighed down in gunk. the brush is small enough that i can use it on my lower lashes too. this doesn't clump on me at all, and that is a major plus! it also gives my lashes a visible curl and holds it. keep in mind, though, that i have naturally long lashes. they're just very straight, lol. so i don't know how well this mascara would work on those with shorter lashes. also this isn't waterproof, but for me that's great, because it makes it easier to take off. it's not like i'm going to be going to the beach soon anyway! so overall this mascara is great. i will definitely repurchase when this one dries up.

Cleansers -Clean & Clear - Makeup Dissolving Foaming Cleanser
majorbummmer 9/11/2011 11:40:00 PM
i got this product at Big Lots a few days ago. lots of discontinued products end up there, so if you're looking for this, go check it out! i absolutely love this stuff! it makes me feel totally clean and, well, clear. i like the pump, very nice and sanitary. i've been using this every night since i've gotten it, i'll update if it breaks me out or something. so far, everything looks good! i'm definitely going to stock up on this stuff when i go to Big Lots again. EDIT: i picked up four other bottles. this stuff is still great imo. however it kinda dries me out (this is easily solved with some moisturizer, which i always put on after taking my makeup off anyway lol) and it only takes off about 85% of my makeup, sadly. both of those things are easy to overlook, though. it hasn't broken me out yet either! i'm gonna be really sad when i run out of this stuff.
