Fragrances -Jean Paul Gaultier - Classique EDT

I hate this fragrance, since I first smelled it - so many years ago. I know guys, my opinion is not very important, but I have to write this review now and today, because I sprayed a little of this stuff on my hand while I was shopping - and I have to tell you: I can't stand it. Did I tell you already, that I can't stand it? It smells cheap and vulgar to my picky nose. I think - the special, sexy bottle and the box, plus the smart commercial, makes this fragrance famous - not the juice itself.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Torrente- L'Or de Torrente

I tested both version, the Eau de Toilette and the Eau de Parfum and all I have to say is: Very different. EDT: A crisp, fruity concoction without coffee. I gave it away. EDP: Lovely, feminine, floral, sweet (but not too much) and I can detect the coffee note. I own so many fragrances I love much more, so this frag is not a must-have, but I can recommend the Eau de Parfum, not the EDT.

Fragrances -Van Cleef & Arpels - Miss Arpels
rated 4 of 5
magnificent 3/21/2009 8:42:00 AM

*ellizam* wrote a brilliant review. I can totally agree. Unfortunately the name "Miss Arpels" was not such a brilliant idea by Van Cleef & Arpels I think, because nobody wants to smell like Miss Arpels or should I better say, like *Miss Marple*....??? I think the fragrance-name was a total flop, not the fragrance. Since many years it is discontinued in my country. The idea behind this beautiful floral fragrance was an inspiring *florist shop* with the irresistible smell of wonderful fresh cut flowers and stalks. Miss Arpel is an innocent and beautiful springtime-fragrance. Very natural and pleasant.

Fragrances -Thierry Mugler - Angel
rated 3 of 5
magnificent 1/13/2009 8:14:00 AM

Just a thought... Since I'm 50+++ I wear my fragrances (Angel) very subtle and discrete. I don't want to shock people with a "great unique scent". I only want to smell nice, pleasing and feminine. So I use only a little of the amount that I normally used when I was a young woman. No doubt I still love all my hot and ultra-strong fragrances of my huge collection (... I hate watery, weak scents with no staying-power). But now I wear my fragrances with more understatement and with more consideration to sensitive noses around me. What do you think, dear MUA-ladies? NancyDrew27 wrote a nice review. I totally agree with her. Everything is said. ANGEL is a very successful fragrance. The adorable bottle is a romantic dream and has a very artful design. The look of the bottle and the color of the fragrance is unbeaten. An eye-pleaser and a must-have for collectors.

This is a "review" for the first FRAGRANCE by John Galliano "Le parfum numéro 1". I did not test it yet; I think it's brand-new. But I have a nice ad picture... Please look and enjoy. Looks like a new *Alien" ???;-) Very scary :-))).

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Paris Bleu - Red Pearl
rated 1 of 5

The reviews here are so nice, so I tested RED PEARL today. You can buy RED PEARL for a cheap price at every KAUFHOF in Germany. But I have to say: I don't like the scent. I sprayed it on the back of my hand and tested it for 2 hours while I was shopping. I can't describe the fragrance. More a linear warm floral. Not spicy oriental, not edible/gourmand to my nose. I can't smell any similarities to other well-known and popular perfumes. Smells not exquisite or expensive. A BIG NO for me. I found this description: "Launched by the design house of Paris Bleu in 1999, RED PEARL is classified as a refreshing, flowery fragrance. This feminine scent possesses a blend of blooming, sweet spice and orange flowers, subtle yet intoxicating. It is recommended for casual wear."

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Accord Parfait: Boise (Heliotrope and Santal)
rated 5 of 5
magnificent 12/30/2008 8:26:00 AM

What a find! I love this rare fragrance by Accord Parfait. The description below by *Bagfish* is very nice and I totally agree with it. But I give 5 lippies, because the fragrance smells so very beautiful and unique. The scent is hard to describe. A very powdery-woody(=boisé)-oriental. If you like Hypnotic Poison, Burberry Brit GOLD, Comptoir Sud Pacifique VANILLE-AMANDE, vintage Guerlains, and the Guerlinade smell, you may like it. I detected carnation/clove, sandalwood and delicious, edible bittersweet marzipan. Very artfully composed and mixed together very subtle. It reminds me a little of Christmas bakery. But it's not aggressive cheap foody!! - I love an Italian body powder named Azzurra Paglieri, maybe there is a similarity to the smell of BOISE by Accord Parfait. It's a very hard-to-find niche-product, even in Europe. The best Accord Parfait IMO. Good hunting, dear MUA-ladies.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Benetton - Colors de Benetton for women
rated 5 of 5
magnificent 12/9/2008 7:36:00 PM

This review is for COLORS for MAN (1988). A great WOODY-ORIENTAL. If you like ESCADA pour Homme, CASUAL by Escada, Halston Z-14, Relax by Davidoff, or Burberry BRIT for men, you may like COLORS Man by Benetton too. It smells wonderful aromatic and refined. A well balanced beautiful mix between fresh lemon and balsamic-warm-oriental-woody-amber. A very pleasant fragrance! Sexy and intriguing. Unisex! Expensive smell - inexpensive price. What a find!!! - Olfactive description: "Fresh Herbaceous Citrus (Lime, Mandarin) Oriental Vetiver Sandalwood Balsamic." It's sooo cheap - you can't go wrong. Try a test. To my nose it smells irresistible!!! Love it.

Fragrances -Lancome - Magnifique
rated 1 of 5
magnificent 12/8/2008 7:16:00 AM

To my nose not very pleasant, special or irresistible!! The perfumers are Olivier Cresp and Jacques Cavallier. Sorry to both perfumers: *Magnifique* smells synthetic and artificial. I miss depth and complexity and natural, rare ingredients. No mystery here. Not a magnificent scent. A modern, inexpensive mainstream essence only, but a very expensive, huge promotion and commercial... I would never buy this fragrance. The bottle looks only so-so.

Fragrances -Tabu - Tabu by Dana cologne splash
rated 5 of 5
magnificent 12/4/2008 9:46:00 AM

I don't know if they watered it down or if they changed the formula to a cheap and ugly concoction. I HOPE NOT!!!!! If they really did that - this would be idiotic!!! The "original" TABU is a sumptuous and divine masterpiece!!! BOLD and magnificent. May I say a dark, gothic and dangerous scent??? I wear it on special events. I like black velvet outfits mixed with satin, silk or black leather. I like animal-prints. I like purple feather-boas and glamorous, elegant and glittering accessories. Because I'm a *child* of the 80's, I'm an "old lady" now as you can imagine :-). I love Glam-Rock, Grunge, Punk, Rock. - TABU is ME. And because I love TABU so very, very much, I have some bottles in stock, so I can enjoy the "original TABU" until the end of my life. I wear it now since 20 years!! I'm a perfume-addict. TABU is my signature fragrance and all my friends, my family and my husband love it when they smell it on me. Nice to know, that Luca Turin loves it too :-). TABU, Shalimar, Hypnotic Poison and OPIUM are the best oriental-fragrances of my perfume-collection. When I'm in the mood, I layer TABU with a wonderful and strong vanilla fragrance (or Shalimar) and that smells damn sexy and hot. Diva-esque. Heavenly and ultra-feminine. If you are interested now, try to get a vintage bottle ASAP!!! Enjoy your life and mysterious-dark TABU.

Fragrances -Houbigant - Quelques Fleurs

magnificent 12/3/2008 7:13:00 AM

Today I wear Quelques Fleurs Eau de Parfum by Houbigant for the first time and all I can say: ASAP I WILL SWAP IT AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That piercing and linear floral smells not nice on me. And I thought it would... I have a huge collection of old and legendary masterpieces, but to this I have to say: Goodbye, it was not nice to meet you... ;-). If you are interested here a description: Year Introduced: 1912/87. Scent Type: Floral. Notes: Greens, bergamot, orange blossom, lemon, tarragon, Rose, jasmine, tuberose, lily of the valley, ylang-ylang, carnation, heliotrope, orchid, orris, Sandalwood, oakmoss, amber, musk, tonka bean, civet.

Fragrances -Hermes - Caleche
rated 2 of 5
magnificent 12/2/2008 8:05:00 AM

I respect this fine and classy HERMES fragrance, but I cannot love it. Most of the aldehydic scents are not made for me and I think they were never meant to be easy:-)). I feel toooo adult and toooo serious and determined when wearing this "old-fashioned" Calèche. Maybe a good fragrance for a lawyer or a politician?! I need sexy and delightful fragrances in my life to feel feminine, comfortable and happy.

Fragrances -Giorgio Beverly Hills - Giorgio
rated 5 of 5
magnificent 12/1/2008 2:39:00 PM

UPDATE 01 DEC 2008: Listen, dear MUA-ladies, when I was young and GIORGIO were an innovative and brand-new scent, I hated it too. Now I love it :-). I add 2 lippies! Now 5. I find it NOT too strong or cheap smelling. It's a happy, sunny, yellow-white floral. Fresh, dewy, elegant, cheerful and feminine. Very nice on me. A delightful fragrance. Please be a little more respectful to this "old" fragrance :-))). * * * * * Giorgio (classic) with the yellow/white stripes packaging! Olfactive family: Floral(Tuberose, Orange blossom) Olfactive description: Floral(Tuberose, Orange blossom) Fruity Green Floral Exotic Powdery. Ladies, this is a strong and bold tuberose fragrance and tuberose is not for everyone!! You hate it or you love it (see all these different reviews here). It's the same with FRACAS by Piguet, CHLOE, FRAGILE, BLONDE, MAHORA, HERRERA classic, or KENZO classic( ca sent beau). All Tuberose fragrances! Taste is very different. From the first sniff, I don't like GIORGIO. I thought it smells like a very cheap bathroom spray, but when I tested it more often, I "understand" all these Tuberose-fragrances. Tuberose has a hint of cheap "rubber"-smell and coconut (exotic!). Well applied with a light hand, on the right woman, Tuberose fragrances can smell very feminine, creamy and beautiful. Here a description from the Internet: "Giorgio is a heady, exotic floral fragrance, a glamorous long-lasting scent. Entrepreneurs Gale and Fred Hayman found immediate success with Giorgio, named after their internationally known boutique, once located on Rodeo Drive in the heart of Beverly Hills. One of the BEST-SELLING fragrances of all times, Giorgio is dramatic and lavish, full of saucy verve...a fragrance to impress. An expansive blend of jasmine and rose is at the heart of the intense formulation. The distinctive line, in its yellow and white striped packaging, remains true to the 1980's vision that was Giorgio."©
