Styling Products -Frederic Fekkai - sheer hold hairspray
maggierose4 12/15/2011 9:54:00 PM
I very rarely use hairspray. Every one I had tried before left my hair stiff and smelling like bug spray. Recently I wanted to comb my hair into a certain style which required a set to it. So I grabbed my trial sized can of Fredric Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray that was part of a gift set. OMG, this stuff is fabulous. It has changed my mind about hairsprays. It has a very faint, slightly fruity scent and sprays as a controlled fine mist (so you aren't left in a fog of spray). The hold is excellent without being stiff or sticky. This hairspray held so well that even after sleeping I woke up with my hair looking the same as the day before. Once this trial size can is gone I will be getting a full sized one.
Hair Color -Garnier - Nutrisse Permanent Creme Hair Color

I have been coloring my hair for many years. Over those years I have used different products (Natural Instincts, Feria, Perfect 10, Nice 'N Easy Foam), some good, some awful. Today was the first time I have tried Garnier Nutrisse Hair Color (shade 53-Medium Golden Brown). Packaging was standard for these kits: a bottle of developer, a tube of color creme, an ampule of oil, gloves and a packet of conditioner. Color and conditioner amounts are generous which is good since I have long hair. I mixed the developer, color creme and oil in a hair coloring bowl instead of the bottle given. I prefer to brush the color for even root coverage. This formula mixed easily and had the consistency of pancake batter. It was easy to apply and didn't drip or stain my skin. Excellent application. I used 30 minutes for developing time due to my grey streaks. The scent of this hair color is great, one of the best I've used. It's soft and slightly fruity. This made the developing time tolerable. The formula rinsed out completely, the first to do that for me. There were no tell-tale dye blotches left on my hair towel after rinsing and conditioning my hair. The supplied conditioner left my hair nice and soft, not gummy. The result .. excellent! Rich color and soft textured hair. Now I'll see how it lasts and update.
Sunscreen -Hawaiian Tropic - Sheer Touch Crème Lotion SPF 50
maggierose4 6/13/2010 2:57:00 PM
Sheer Touch Creme Lotion is part of the new line of Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen products. According to Hawaiian Tropic: "Indulge and protect your skin with our line of Skin Beauty Protection products. Rich, creamy formulas infused with an exotic blend of flora and fruit extracts provide your skin with optimal coverage. Now with our new and improved signature tropical coconut scent!" This Creme Lotion comes in a can and dispenses like shave cream. I was expecting a mousse-like product but it is actually a very thick cream. The thickness of the product makes it a bit difficult to rub on. It feels heavy going on and you might expect this to feel greasy. Once on it actually leaves no sticky, heavy residue. Your skin will feel soft throughout the day. This product has a light tropical coconut scent which fades after application. I used this product for one week in hot, sunny Orlando and never got a burn, not even pink. It worked great. It worked so well that my friends may think I never went on vacation. If you are seeking great sun protection give this a try. I'm taking off one lippie only because the product is heavy on application and I can't see the contents left in the can.
Eye Shadow -Revlon - Beyond Natural Cream to Powder Eye Shadow
maggierose4 5/3/2009 8:51:00 PM
The only thing I like about Beyond Natural cream to powder eyeshadows are the shades. They really are pretty, natural colors and look good once on. That's when the love stops. These shadows never seem to turn to a powder and crease like crazy within and hour or two. Sure I could use a primer underneath but why should I have to? There are plenty of cream and powder shadows available that stay on without a primer. Too bad about Beyond Natural since I really do like the look it gives .. for it's 15 minutes of fame.
Treatments -Neutrogena - Rapid Clear Acne Eliminating Gel
maggierose4 12/26/2007 3:05:00 PM
Even at my age I still get the occassional blemish. I tend to get those "angry" cystic bumps, all red and painful to the touch. When those pop up I use Rapid Clear as an overnight treatment. It works wonders for me. After cleansing my face I apply a small amount of this gel, rubbing into the skin on and around the blemish. I think this is a key step. The next morning my blemishes, especially the cystic ones, are always down significantly with redness and tenderness gone. I repeat this overnight treatment until the bump is competely eliminated. Don't expect your acne to be gone and stay gone in 8 hours. Nothing does that. If you use this as a spot treatment along with a good skincare routine it does help. Again, rub this into the skin .. it really helps the product work.
Lip Treatments -Neutrogena - Lip Boost intense moisture therapy
maggierose4 12/23/2007 2:15:00 PM
I bought the "New Formula" version of Lip Boost. It's packaged in a squeeze tube as before. The balm is thick in texture. To use .. I squeeze a small amount (size of a grain of rice) onto my finger then massage this on my lips, as directed. Lip Boost feels wonderful and has a light spearmint flavor. It does soften the lips well and I use this often as a night treatment. Do not apply this like a regular lip balm or gloss though. It that case it will melt and look like a mess. Also, don't expect this to plump your lips. Lip Boost is a treatment balm. Apply it as you would a hand or face cream and you will have great results. Your lips will be smooth and healthy looking, which can in turn make them appear fuller.
Treatments -Neutrogena - Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Nightly Renewal
maggierose4 10/6/2007 1:24:00 AM
I found this product on clearance at CVS and gave it a try. It moisturizes well for night but does have a weird smell from the DMAE. For that I'm taking off a lippie. If you are able to stand the smell this does work. It got rid of a blob on my cheek that had been there a long time. Other rough patches are also smoother or gone as well. I use this every other night to avoid peeling.
C.O. Bigelow's Lemon Lip Cream is an "ultra moisturizing formula" with 2% natural lemon oil, lime oil, lemon extract and vanillin for flavor. For those wondering, this is not C.O. Bigelow's Mentha Shine formula with lemon added. Lemon Lip Cream is more like their My Favorite Lip Balm. The balm goes on smoothly with a soft shine and feels very moisturizing. If you like lemon drop candies or lemon cookies you'll enjoy Lemon Lip Cream. The flavor is tasty and long lasting. Among the ingredients are two peptides, acetyl dipeptide-1 cetyl ester (Calmosensine™) and palmitoyl oligopeptide. Both are commonly found in skin serums and anti-aging products. Sodium hyaluronate is also included and can help keep the lips well hydrated.
Lipstick -BeneFit Cosmetics - Silky-Finish Lipstick
maggierose4 5/13/2007 11:59:00 AM
Silky-Finish Lipsticks are part of a new line of natural shades in three levels of depth from fair to deep. I tried the shade Make Nice from the Lana (fair) category. Make Nice is a pinky-mauve shade with shimmer and a slightly sheer, glossy finish. It's an easy to wear shade and looks great paired with Dallas blush. I took off one lippie since these lipsticks tend to lose some gloss and dry my lips slightly with time. Other than that, Silky-Finish Lipsticks are very nice. The picture is of Make Nice on my bare lips in natural sunlight. http://img.makeupalley.com/1/0/8/5/667591.JPG
This is one HG lip balm for me. I love the pink shine and non-sticky texture. It makes my lips feel very comfortable so I often use it at night. The fruity flavor is light. My first pot lasted well over a year and I have a backup. Only wish it was in a tube for easier application. Get this on sale and it's a real bargain.
I'm loving this. It starts out tart and rather masculine in tone then settles to a fresh, close to the body scent. With time it's warmth comes through and really lasts. This is a scent I can wear easily during the daytime. The bottle is unique and stylish.
Sunscreen -Lancome - Lancome UV EXPERT 20 with Mexoryl SX
maggierose4 4/24/2007 6:12:00 PM
Overall this is really great stuff. It has a cream texture that takes a bit of rubbing to completely go on and lose the white cast. The finish feels good and it's not overly shiny or heavy feeling on my combo skin. What I love is that it's fragrance free plus I sense no chemical odor (a problem with other brands). This didn't irritate my skin or eyes, a huge plus. The only negatives are the price (but I did get a great GWP with this) and it's only SPF 20. Still, I'd buy it again anytime Lancome has another GWP.
I really put this to the test today. I applied this before my BeneFit eyeshadow, which usually creases, then did a day of errands. Now, 9 hours later, my eyeshadow is still in place. No creases or change in color. For the price it can't be beat. The hard part is finding it after becoming so popular. If you see it, get it.
This is the quickest way to get an even fake tan on your face. Guerlain Spray Bronzer is a fine aerosol spray. Hold the can about a foot away from your face and use a back and forth motion to apply the mist. Within a few seconds it gives a gorgeous glow to either bare skin or over make-up. I have this in Light and it's perfect for extra color anytime. For extra pop, a dusting of Terracotta Blondes Bronzer on top is all I need to fake it safely, quickly and beautifully.
Cleansers -Lumene - Lift Touch Rejuvenating Cleansing Oil
maggierose4 4/5/2007 3:04:00 PM
Oil to clean your face? Yes! Oil dissolves other oils, sunscreen and make-up on your face plus lifts dirt. I've tried other facial cleansing oils before. Some left me still feeling dirty after. Not with Lumene's new Rejuvenating Cleansing Oil though. It's formula, which includes Avocado oil, does a thorough job. I use 3-4 pumps of oil and massage it on a dry face. Yes, it will feel oily but don't worry. Once you see facial dirt dissolving start to wet your fingertips and add this water to your face. The cleansing oil will turn milky. Keep adding a bit of water before rinsing everything off. Lumene's Rejuvenating Cleansing Oil rinses off very cleanly leaving your face soft and fresh. This oil has a light floral scent which doesn't linger. It's marketed for dry/mature skin types but many others should be able to use this product without trouble. I love the locking pump top on this. Excellent product for a retail of $9.99 for 200ml/6.8 oz.
