I followed directions to a t except my straightener is ceramic and only goes to 410 instead of 450. (If you research keratin treatments you need a titanium plated straightener that heats to 450. The titanium doesn't absorb the product but rather seals it into your hair) And I still had amazing results! Keep in mind I otherwise have virgin hair, and it is only wavy not super curly or course. I did this to control frizz. The only con is that my hair has less wave even after product wears off ( y I gave 4 lippies instead of 5) I'll be rebuying!
Self Tanners -Unlisted Brand - St. Moriz Self Tanner Foam
madgesmith 8/14/2010 12:02:00 AM
pros: -natural color! -easy application -no streaking -color guide so you can tell where it's going on and blend saturated spots -nice clean scent, hardly self tanner scent at all...very non-offensive -price (roughly ten usd with shipping included!) -compares to st tropez mousse cons: -hard to get, only sells in england must order online (amazon or ebay) takes along time to come. suggest stocking up if you know you like -must wear gloves! in my experience anyway...tried doing what some said on youtube (wash hands after each body part), but hands turned brown -can be a bit messy if not careful, be prepared to sit on a towel Tips: - watch st tropez's how to video on you tube on washoff mousse application for a guideline of how much product to use -do the usuals! exfoliate, moisturize, and watch the "self tanning queen" or " annidote skincare" (same chick) on you tube for a complete rundown on successful self-tanning. -wear gloves! if you can't find extra small...use a hair tye to tighten the gloves and give you more control with the application -use makeup wedge or sponge to apply to feet and hands Excellent product, price, and value! Could become my HG ST! Awaiting results after 1st application, will update. ***Update**** the color was gorgeous until i took a shower and the color guide washed off. I still had a subtle tan, but being very fair I want the deep golden! Having that said it it the most natural color of ST I've ever used, and I found it easy to apply. Do suggest buying a mit(6 usd on st tropeztan.com) or using an old sock over a rubber glove; that makes application much quicker and easier. Am sticking with this for now, and using a gradual tanner to deepen/maintain
This generally a good concealer. It was lighter than I expected, perhaps because of the white serum mixing with it, though they claim that shouldn't be an issue. It is durable and blendable, but it did sink into my creases (only someone with perfect vision standing an inch from your face would notice), COMPARED to my hg lancome effacernes. It didn't cover blemishes well or endure anywhere on my face other than under my eyes. BUT- considering that it has anti-aging serum in it, it may be worth continuing to use it if it improves my skin tone. Will update. and- please keep in mind that I'm comparing it to the best concealer in the world; it is the second best I've used, and I've used most everything on the market. ****Update***** I want my money back! This doesn't do what it claims, and has been sitting in the back of my makeup drawer for months now. ;(
Have applied this four times now with great success. The color is natural on my reddish fair skin. PACKAGING- pump is nice b/c can always get exact amount of product but is hard to get all product out COLOR- most natural i've found for drugstore brand (compared to jergens natural glow and dove energy glow) so far natural SMELL- pleasant not overpowering PRICE- 8ish dollars @ walmart=awesome:) APPLICATION- NOVICE can do! almost foolproof b/c it's gradual. though I've done alot of research on ST(self tanning ) methods. It can get streaky if not careful around ankles knees, and elbows. but it's So un-noticable b/c of the gradual color. (Only you would know), and even if you don't follow the ST rules you can just even it out at next application by skipping dark spots and applying product on white spots. If you need help in the application process go to selfttanningqueen.com and find the link to her "how to Self tan" video series. *Update* looks natural until next to someone with a real tan and then the orange hues show. will keep looking but will keep buying this if nothing better comes along.
pros: great coverage great spf pump dispenser keeps product clean cons: too orange or dark for my fair skin pump dispenser doesn't allow you to get all of the product out as opposed to squeeze tubes overall great the only reason i gave a 4 and won' t buy again is b/c it doesn't match my skin tone :( and even though it's expensive upfront it lasts so long it's worth the money
Tinted Moisturizer -Cover Girl - Cover Girl CG Smoothers Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15
madgesmith 4/14/2010 12:03:00 AM
you can't beat this for the price! great coverage and spf. the color matches my very fair skin, and in the summer i use light to medium, and mix fair to light and light to medium together for the in between. when i tried olay definity TM it was a bit too dark or orange for my fair skin compared to this
hands down best undereye concealer i have ever used! great coverage lasts all day, and looks natural. don't use anywhere else on the face if it's waterproof and specifies undereye or you could break out.
poor coverage, didn't last, doesn't work well. in it's defense, however, i tried it after l'ancome effacernes water proof undereye concealer. that's a hard act to follow!
Primer/ Corrector -Rimmel - Fix and Perfect Foundation Primer
madgesmith 4/13/2010 11:30:00 PM
it minimizes pores and controlled oil all day when worn alone! Which for me is awesome because i have extremely oily skin on and around my nose. The major problem is that it's tinted an orange color. It will probably work well for people who aren't fair. this was why i rated it so low
Mascara -L'Oreal - Double Extend Mascara with Lash Boosting Serum
madgesmith 4/11/2010 1:23:00 AM
Even after using the night time serum and lash boosting double extend mascara during the day sporadically for a month or so, I saw results. Still see some lash fallout. Didn't notice a major change in the thickness of my lashes individually or as a whole. Didn't notice that I had more lashes than before. But I did notice a drastic change in LENGTH! My lashes are now just as long uncurled now as they were before use of this product curled! The mascara itself is ok. Didn't give the volume I normally like, so i often would put another mascara over the serum lengthening base coat. It ran down my face at any hint of water, and would sting if got in eyes. Raccoon city after every shower:) (only reason i gave 4 instead of 5) The night serum was cool but often skipped for sleepiness or laziness. All in all great product. It added major length to my lashes even though I didn't use it religiously. Just imagine how good it would be for someone with more lash diligence!:)
As a fair lady I chose this gradual tanner last year in fair and saw little results as far as added color went, so I "upgraded" to this ST for medium. CONS: Smell= ugh! Color= orange around knees and feet, and yet still not as much color as I'd like PROS: Gradual so you can get nice even results with little to no major effort I'm currently using the L'oreal sublime bronze Properfect salon airbrush in medium/natural tan. I like it much better. But if you are weary of spray tanning and want to stick with gradual, try nivea.
Self Tanners -L'Oreal - Sublime Bronze Airbrush-Effect Dry Mist BODY
madgesmith 4/10/2010 3:49:00 PM
I'm fair and have had trouble finding natural looking self tanners in the past. the color is so natural, even though I put it over jergens natural glow revitalizing in medium, which turned my knees and ankles orangey. I thought mixing the two might deepen the orange, but this l'oreal stuff actually evened it out!. Application is super easy; I didn't get streaky even though I didn't hold it out at arms length like it says to, which btw is impossible by yourself. The smell is ok; its not like a self tanner, but like a perfume. The main problem I've had is applying it without stepping in the mist. The bottom of my feet look really dirty; that is the only reason I gave it a four. All in all a great product. I even sprayed it on my face (says not to) and didn't get orange eyebrows. Make sure to hold your breath if spraying your face! do the usuals....exfoliate(sugar mixed with shower gel works well) and moisturize knees, feet and ankles, and elbows. *ADD* also don't spray your feet. enough of the product settles from the mist in the air for them to look naturally tanned. Make sure to super moisturize your toe joints and knuckles before and after spraying. *EDIT******** after trying to build a "tan" i turned streaky and orange tinted. I think the color will work well on people who have an olive tone to begin with, but then you must have someone else help you apply it in order to get even results and be able to follow the application directions
