Palettes -NYX - Butt Naked Eyes
rated 3 of 5
madeupmary 4/17/2013 7:56:00 PM

I bought this palette after long deliberation ... did I really need another neutral palette ... and the answer was YES! First of all, I should say that I bought this online because we can only buy NYX online in the UK. When I received it I was disappointed because the colors looked more muted than online. The pinks looked pinker online and the purples more smokey - if that makes any sense! I know it's a neutral palette but that doesn't mean I want to be limited to browns and taupes. My biggest disappointment was how unpigmented these were. I buy a lot of drugstore makeup so I am used to using eyeshadows that haven't got the greatest pigmentation - but there's are rubbish! You really have to pack on the colour and even then it is only a subtle difference - perfect for the barely there look, but even when I'm wearing a neutral makeup look I still want to see my eyeshadow. The only good thing is it has a mixtures of mattes and shimmers, which is missing in a lot of drugstore products which only seem to contain shimmers these days. The only redeeming quality of this palette are the blushes and the bronzer - they are fantastic and worth it just to get them. Unlike the eyeshadows the blushers are really pigmented and would suit most skin tones. Not worth it for the eyeshadows but great blushers!

BB Cream -Unlisted Brand - Miss Sporty - Morning Baby - BB Cream
rated 4 of 5
madeupmary 4/12/2013 5:20:00 PM

Extremely surprised by this product. I only swatched it because it was new at Superdrug and unlike most other BB creams the lightest shade was actually light enough for my skin! It also had a lovely consistency, which blended really well and since it was so cheap (£3.49) I picked it up, reckoning that if I didn't like it, it wasn't a big deal at the price. I have to say I am surprised by the coverage - my skin is quite clear but I have some areas of redness on my cheeks and it covered this really well, whilst still giving a lovely dewy look, perfect for Spring. I do find I have to set with a little powder to make it last all day, but I'm fine with that. Definitely check it out, a great high street find!

Concealers -Rimmel - Match Perfection Concealer
rated 4 of 5
madeupmary 4/1/2013 6:34:00 PM

Fab product, I love this. I have tried many other under eye concealers but this beats all of them hands down. It doesn't have as high coverage as other concealers, e.g.: the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer but it is really illuminating and is the only thing that covers my under eye circles. My only gripe is the packaging - I like the fact that it comes in a tube, but I think the brush attachment wastes product and is useless, because at least for me, I prefer to blend it with my fingers. All in all a great product, I'd urge you to try it if you haven't already.

Shampoo -Clairol - Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Moisturizing Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
madeupmary 3/29/2013 7:18:00 AM

I absolutely love this shampoo. Normally I go for volumising shampoos as my hair is fine and very flat, but my hair had been looking a bit dryer recently so I picked this up, not expecting much. And I have to say I was impressed - it left my hair so shiny and smooth and surprisingly didn't leave my hair any greasier or flatter than a normal shampoo. Since purchasing this I've been using it most times I wash my hair and it looks and feels great. The only negatives for me are the smell (it's a bit too strong) and the colour - it's blue! I though the bottle was just blue. Now some of you mightn't have a problem with this but I just found it a bit weird putting a blue coloured liquid on my hair! All in all a great shampoo and dirt cheap - I picked it up for only a pound!

Shampoo -Clairol - Herbal Essences - Dazzling Shine
rated 4 of 5
madeupmary 3/14/2013 5:31:00 PM

I love this product. I suspect this shampoo is called something different in the US, hence why there are no reviews for it yet, but in the UK and Ireland this is called the Dazzling Shine range. I wanted to try this shampoo because my hair was looking a bit lackluster and I wanted to inject some shine into it. Although it didn't make my hair especially shiny, it did clean it really well, which is good because I get oily roots. I haven't used Herbal Essences for years because I disliked the fragrance when I was younger, finding it far too strong, but they must have reformulated their products because this is lovely. It smells slightly like apple, and I only have to lather once, unlike most other shampoos. Only taking one mark off because it didn't make my hair as shiny as I would have liked.

Moisturizers -Boots - Cucumber Moisturising Lotion
rated 5 of 5
madeupmary 3/7/2013 10:09:00 AM

I absolutely love this product, it's probably my favorite moisturizer I've used over the past few years. Although my skin is dry, very thick, oil based moisturizers can make it break out, but this lotion is amazing. My skin is quite sensitive and this soothes it and leaves it well moisturized without being greasy. And the best thing is, it's only £1.50! Yes, £1.50! The packaging is ok, a bit "functional", but this can definitely be overlooked at this price! Go get it!

Lotions/ Creams -Garnier - Intensive 7 Days Gel Creme
rated 2 of 5
madeupmary 3/7/2013 10:00:00 AM

I bought this because I saw it on offer on Superdrug, and being a big fan of the 7 Days Intensive Lotion, I thought this would be a good buy. But how wrong I was. The formula isn't nearly as nourishing as the lotion and is actually quite hard to blend. I purchased the Peach version which is for dry and sensitive skin, but the moisturisation barely lasts a couple of hours, never mind a whole day. The only good thing about this product is the smell, it smells divine, but I would definitely recommend the lotion over the creme gel any day!

Foundations -Lily Lolo - Mineral Foundation
rated 4 of 5
madeupmary 3/7/2013 5:57:00 AM

This is probably the best of all the mineral foundations I have tried. It is the one which is the most finely milled and the product almost has a creamy texture when you rub it between your fingers. Unfortunately, it still didn't give me the coverage I wanted, but of all the mineral foundations it gave me the most natural coverage, without looking cakey. The price is very reasonable, at £12 - £13. The thing I love most about this is the packaging - it actually has a lockable sifter so the product doesn't get everywhere - why don't all mineral makeup companies do this?

Powder -Everyday Minerals - foundation semi-matte formula
rated 2 of 5
madeupmary 3/7/2013 5:45:00 AM

I bought a sample of this from the website, love-makeup.co.uk because I wanted to try this foundation without buying the regular size and finding out it didn't work for me, and I'm so glad I didn't buy the full sized version. I found this foundation to be much higher coverage than other mineral foundations I have tried, but unfortunately the coverage was very cakey and not natural looking. I definitely would not recommend this to dry skinned girls. The product is good value, at around the £10 mark, but only if it's right for you skin type. Again, I hate the packaging because the product gets everywhere - I wish they did a cap that you could secure over it once you were finished using it, but this seems to be the way most mineral foundations come.

Powder -E.L.F. - Mineral Foundation
rated 3 of 5
madeupmary 3/7/2013 5:38:00 AM

I really wanted to like this because I would love to be able to get away with a light dusting of Mineral Foundation rather than having to apply liquid foundation every morning. Unfortunately, this product just didn't give me the coverage required. I have quite clear skin but a bit of ruddiness around my nose and I had to keep going over the same area quite a few times in order to get the coverage I wanted. The finish is very natural, and almost semi-matte on my skin, but the coverage just isn't enough to sway me into using it instead of my liquid foundation. As usual, with ELF this is a great value product at only £5, so even if you don't like it, at least you haven't wasted a huge amount of money. My biggest bugbear with most mineral foundations is the packaging. I hate the sifters that come with them and wish they had a twist cover so you could prevent the product from escaping. All in all, a good product, just not right for my skin type.

Powder -E.L.F. - Mineral Foundation - Fair
rated 3 of 5
madeupmary 3/7/2013 5:31:00 AM

Not as good as I was hoping it would be. I have tried a lot of mineral foundations recently as I was hoping that they would offer the same coverage as my liquid foundations without being as bad for my skin. Unfortunately I found the coverage of this just wasn't enough. I found I had to buff over the same area a lot of times to get the desired coverage, when in that time I could have applied a liquid foundation that would have covered a lot better. However, I will say, I loved the finish - it wasn't at all cakey like I thought it might be, but gave me a semi-matte finish, which was lovely looking. Unfortunately I had to keep reapply throughout the day in order to keep the desired level of coverage. All in all, not a bad product, just not right for my skin type - I think it would be much better for oily skin.

Cleansers -Boots - No 7 Beautiful Skin- Melting Gel Cleanser Normal/Dry
rated 4 of 5
madeupmary 3/4/2013 6:03:00 PM

I love this product. I received it in a swap from another MUAer and I'm in love. It makes my skin feel so clean and yet not dry in the slightest. The scent is lovely and it really does make my skin look beautiful! At £9 it's not the cheapest cleanser but a bit goes a long way and with a No. 7 voucher it's very reasonable. Can't wait to try some of the other products in the Beautiful Skin range!

Liquid -Unlisted Brand - MUA - Undress Your Skin Illuminating Foundation
rated 4 of 5
madeupmary 2/19/2013 9:52:00 AM

I've only been using this product a week, but I'm already in love - this foundation really does live up to its claims. The MUA website says, "Undress your Skin Illuminating Foundation offers a medium to full coverage and is suitable for any skin type. It gives your skin an even-toned glow and visibly gives a soft healthy radiant finish, the formula contains light-diffusing particles leaving your skin feeling refreshed and luminous all day". All of these claims are true apart from the medium to full coverage, I would definitely say this is a medium coverage and on the lighter side of that - but it gives a wonderful luminosity to the skin and the Porcelain shade is perfect for my skin tone. Doesn't even feel like I'm wearing makeup. I would say this is best for normal to dry skins and those who want a dewy, natural looking finish. Great, and only £5!

Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - Anatomicals - Sud The Lot of You Mango and Papaya Body Cleanser
rated 2 of 5
madeupmary 2/19/2013 9:47:00 AM

I bought this shower gel a couple of months ago on ASOS because I loved the sound of Mango and Papaya shower gel and I also wanted to try an Anatomicals product because I hadn't used any of them before. I think it was a couple of pounds off as it was only £3, but think it's normally £5, which is more than I'd usually pay for a shower gel, but thought I'd buy it with the money off. Well even if it only is £3, it's £3 wasted - The first thing is the packaging is terrible, the pump distributes hardly any of the product and I've had to resort to twisting off the pump to get any out. Secondly, because the consistency is so runny, lots comes out at once, wasting lots of product. Also, for a name like "Sud the Lot of You" you would expect lots of foam and lather, but disappointingly you don't get that with this product. In my opinion the only good thing about it is the smell, which is nice, but is similar to Superdrug's own brand orange and satsuma shower gel, which is only 89p.

Lotions/ Creams -Soap and Glory - The Righteous Butter
rated 2 of 5
madeupmary 2/15/2013 10:29:00 AM

I bought this product after all the hype and from reading the reviews I seem to be in the very small minority of people who hated this. First off the good points - it was very moisturizing and nourished my skin, but I couldn't stand the smell! It clung on all day and i smelt like I'd broken a bottle of perfume and bathed in it. Far too strong! Might suit a younger person who might like the smell, but I prefer lighter scents that I can build up if I want to. A pity because I like lots of other Soap and Glory products.
