Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat
machochick 10/2/2012 2:18:00 AM
I bought this on a whim. I was looking for something that will give my nail a bit of "color" while I'm wearing just a top coat during my "no nail polish days". It also gave my brittle nails some strength and avoid breaking. I also use this when I want french manicure. Most of the time I use this as a top coat and works well, too. However, the smell is too strong and it gave me headaches while waiting for it to dry. The bottle doesn't look appealing either but I like the brush. I will not repurchase because of the smell.

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - e.l.f. Studio 11 Piece Brush Collection
machochick 10/2/2012 2:14:00 AM
I got this set during E.L.F.'s 50%off sale. I'm glad I did! I've been using it for over a year now and so far, everything is still intact, no shedding, etc. A must for beginners too. It also comes in a travel brush holder w/c is a plus for me. I only use a couple of the brushes and bought more of the ones that I use regularly: Powder brush, blush brush and the eyeshadow brushes. I don't use the fan brush that much though. This is a great buy and my favorite brushes so far.

Polishes -NYX - Roots (154)
machochick 1/10/2012 1:53:00 PM
review for NYX polish in Roots: I got this as a gift. I never used any NYX polish before, and I was able to compare it with my OPI polishes. I have to say, not bad at all. I like the fact that the brush is better then Essie (I don't like how small Essie brushes are), so it's easier to coat the nails. The color is awesome too. It's sparkly in an elegant way and can be worn at any season!

Makeup Brushes -Jane Iredale - Handi Brush
machochick 11/25/2011 10:33:00 PM
The best flat top brush I've ever used. Compared to the flat top brushes I tried: Sonia Kashuk, ELF and Eco Tools. Jane Iredale's can be pricey, but this has the softest bristles, I have sensitive skin and this is perfect. Last me a longer time than the other brushes I mentioned. It applies powder evenly, and definitely will buy again if my brush give up on me. :) Pricey bu worth the try / purchase.

Hair Styling Tools -Remington - All That Hot Curlers
machochick 11/19/2011 2:32:00 AM
I have very long medium-thick straight hair, and not a fan of curling. I admit, I only wear curls when I go to salons, because I don't know how to curl my own hair! I find it frustrating and too much time consuming. I envy those who can wear curls! :( So...after reading reviews, I've decided to try this hot curlers, my perspective about curling changed! I started to love wearing wavy or curly hairs. It's not that hard to use: I section my hair, roll and clip, wait about 5 - 15 mins (depends on your hair type), do my make up and unroll it, comb it with my fingers, and it's pretty easy for me. I use hair serum or leave-in after shower, then heat protectant spray before curling. Then after curling, I spray a bit of hairspray, it last longer that way for me. I recommend this for girls who wants to curl their hair while doing something else (make up or check emails) and for those whose trying to curl for the first time and still learning. Only downside is it is space consuming.

Pressed Powders -Maybelline - Fit Me
machochick 10/29/2011 10:14:00 PM
I don't use this as often before, since I have another powder to set my liquid foundation. But when I brought this with me during my vacation on a tropical island (very hot weather), I can't use liquid foundation because of the heat (melts on my face), so I used this powder alone and it worked wonderful on me! I look great on pictures! I don't find any shimmers on it, it tones down my greasy moisturizer with sunscreen...it mattifies my face. It becomes dewy during the day and I only need a few minor touch ups to none at all. It's true that the packaging can be a bit annoying but I see the purpose of it, to separate the powder and puff to avoid bacterial contamination. I use the puff that comes with it, I find it works better than a brush (for more coverage too). I do replace the puff. It doesn't cover acne marks and redness that well in person, but decent enough to even out my skin tone, especially on photos. I don't need heavy foundation / powder so this works fine for me.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Body Butter (any scent)
machochick 10/3/2011 9:54:00 PM
Love BBW products! I tried one or two of the body butter, but I tend to get the lotion ones. However, here's the difference and usage of both: the SA told me that the body butter are better for those who have drier skin, and the lotion is for normal to dry skin. I don't have any problems with dry skin, I just need something enough for everyday moisturizing, so the lotions are fine. The body butter works for me during winter months, it stays longer. I put it after shower in the morning and the smell and moisture still lingers until night time. Sometimes, it even last until the next morning. My best fragrance: Warm Vanilla Sugar.

Treatments -Olay - Regenerist Night Resurfacing Elixir
machochick 10/2/2011 4:13:00 PM
I waited a month before I made a review. Let me tell you about my skin first, I have a very difficult skin. I have sometimes oily and acne-prone or sometimes oily but dehydrated skin (more on a drier side), but I always break out (adult acne). I was under a Derm prescription but stopped a year ago, but I always go to my aesthetician once a month to put my acne at bay - which also helps. But my skin regimen wasn't cutting it. I wasn't completely clear. I'm needing a new moisturizer at night, so I went here at MUA to read reviews, and decided to try this elixir. I started using this around Aug 2011, and after a month, I took pictures and my skin looks beautiful! I don't have any breakouts, my skin feels smooth and supple. I only use this at night, after washing my face with a cleanser that has 2% salicylic acid, I use one pump of the elixir for my face (2 pumps includes my neck and decolletage). This feels sticky, almost glue-like, but absorbs in about a min or two. In the morning, I wash it off with the same cleanser I use at night, apply a sunscreen with SPF20. I saw the difference in only 3 days of using this, and it still works wonders for me until now. I still have minor break outs, but not as much as before. The packaging don't bother me, and I need to shake it before dispensing to make sure the product it well mixed in. It's kind of pricey for a drugstore brand so I put one star out. I have to wait for the sale before I can buy one of this lovelies again.

Primer/ Corrector -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Correcting Powder

Why did I even buy this? Didn't work at all. I used it on top, under foundation and by itself...same results. Nothing. It's just a multi-colored powder that made my face look ghastly. Didn't even out skin tone what-so-ever. Not worth it.

Liquid -NARS - Sheer Glow Foundation
machochick 9/30/2011 6:10:00 PM
I've tried both the matte and sheer, this review is for the sheer glow. I really really wanted to love this, because of the hype and good reviews. I bought this on and off, then just return it after a few days, never finishing a single bottle. I believe I bought 5 times in a year, and returned every single purchase! Because I can't decide if it's a keeper or not. In the end, I chose not to buy it again. What's the point? It took me a while to wake up. It depends on how this will work on different skin type. But this doesn't work on my skin. Pros: + feels light + easy to apply and blend + great color match (the only perfect color match for me among other foundations I tried) + doesn't sit on top of my skin, it looks natural Cons: - for the price, they should include at least a pump - broke me out every single time - my face looks dewy then to a grease ball even with powder on top - transfer on clothes - can be very sheer sometimes it feels like wearing tinted moisturizer, if put on too much to build it to cover more, I feel it heavy on my skin and caked on. - So for me, it is not buildable coverage, it is to even skin tone I have sometimes oily, sometimes dry skin - depending on what season. I got the same results.

Fragrances -Coty - Harajuku Lovers G Of The Sea

I love this! Not only for it's cuteness, but the scent is also great. I have the Baby and this one. I love the fresh scent. It is also subtle that you can layer this, but also nice alone. I took one star off because of the price. It's a bit steep for the size. But it's worth it. Recommended to buy as a gift or for yourself :)

Blush -NARS - Deep Throat
machochick 9/23/2011 10:56:00 PM
This is my fave NARS blush. I had the Orgasm, but didn't like it at all because of too much shimmer / glitter on it. So I've decided to try this one. And it's awesome! I love the amount of shimmer on it, love the pinkish color too. However, I won't repurchase because of the price. I found better blushes out there :)

Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush

I wanted to love this...but I'm not liking the shimmers on it. It's just me, I'm not a fan of it. I love the color, but I can't stand the shimmer for everyday use. And way pricey for me. It doesn't last on my oily skin, even with primer on. It's high pigmented, yes, on first application, but I need to retouch during the day. And I noticed during re-touch is that, all was left was the glitters and no color at all. It may work for other people, but not for me.

Cleansers -Dermalogica - Skin Clearing Wash
machochick 9/23/2011 10:42:00 PM
I'm on my 3rd bottle! I'm not sure if it works by itself on my acne issues, but I know it helped maintain it. True it also has the same % of salicylic acid like other drugstore brands, but this one doesn't dry out my skin. I need to switch to a gentler cleanser though, but will definitely buy again when my skin gets better :)
