Treatments -Aphogee - Two-Step Protein Treatment (formerly Treatment for Damaged Hair)
rated 5 of 5

This is the best thing that had ever happened to my hair. I don't live in the US and I heard about it here at MUA... then, in a trip to NY a month ago, I found it at a Beauty Supply and bought the 2 bottles, the white (the reconstructor itself) and the pink one (the balancing conditioner). My hair is straigh and really damaged by color treating (I'm trying to dye it red and boy, it is harsh on the hair). My hair also suffered a little more from the stuff I'm using to strip off the old dyes (it doesn't contain ammonia but it's damaging anyway). So it was a real mess, full of frizz and breaking like crazy. After using Age Recharge and other high-end protein treatment with poor results, I was disappointed. Well, I used it for the first time and WOW... I was amazed... my hair started to shine all over again... and it was very strong... but anyway, some products work wonderfully at first and then stop doing anything, so I was waiting a little to write a review. Last week, 1 day before dying my hair with a REALLY strong dye (Matrix SoRed, I don't know if it's available at the US), I used Aphogee again (5 weeks after the first). Well, what can I say? My hair is BEAUTIFUL! The dye made my hair (almost) red, but it didn't damage A BIT! Now, one week later, and after washing everyday to fade the color a little, my hair is still wonderful. So, I'll try to use as sparingly as possible, because I didn't dinf any site that delivers Aphogee in Brazil, and I don't know how I'll live without it! But beware: when people say it stinks, it DOES STINK LIKE HELL. And it makes your hair hard like STRAW when it dries... and I also think it should come with a spray, it would make application easier. But anyway, it's still the best product I've ever used when it comes to the results!

Blush -Christian Dior - Bronze de Harmonie blush in 001 Rose Brazilia

Beware of that golden part - it's A LOT of gold glitter; I had to swap a brush twice over it in order to get it out, because it looks horrible. After I took the golden thing off, I could use the product normally as a blush/bronzer. It didn't look so good on me because it has too much brown and orange, so it looks muddy and "dirty". It's a pity. Anyway, I'll try again when I use some self tanner, maybe it will work better. EDIT: now I just LOVE it. I guess I didn't know how to apply blush properly, because now it looks great, a lovely light peach color. I don't give it 5 lippies because of the price - I guess you can find a color just as beautiful on the drugstore. But, anyway, the pretty compact rocks.

Highlighters -NARS - The Multiple in Copacabana
rated 3 of 5

I guess the problem is that I don't really know how to use a highlighter correctly. I think I always use too much or too little, because I either think it's scarily shimmery or it didn't make any difference at all. I used it over the cheekbones at my wedding... at the pictures it was ok, but at the video it was terribly bright with an exagerated shimmer. Well, at least it worn off after a few hours. I won't buy again because I didn't like it this much and also because It's huge and will last for ages.

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Powder Blush - Peony
rated 3 of 5
macalcia 10/25/2009 2:23:00 PM

This is a very natural pink blush and I think it must work really well for anyone with fair skin. I'm NC20 with yellow undertones and this color balances the yellow and makes my skin look more "alive". Its also great for day use because it doesn't have any shimmer. EDIT: now I see it doesn't go very well with my skin tone. It makes me look like I someone slapped my face. It's a very difficult color, you must use it with a REALLY light hand and even then it can look artificial.

Lips -NARS - Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella
rated 5 of 5

I love it. It's my perfect matte red, much better than MAC Russian Red because it's not drying at all. The color is perfect, a true red with cool undertones. And as it's a pencil, it's easier to do your lips without smudging.

Mascara -Rimmel - Sexy Curves Waterproof
rated 3 of 5
macalcia 10/25/2009 2:00:00 PM

It's a REALLY DRY mascara... I even suspected the one I bought was already opened... but anyway, it's a basic mascara, NOT a volumizing one. It makes my lashes look polished and defined. It's really easy to come out, even tough it's waterproof. liked it, but as it doesn't do anything incredible, I won't buy again.

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks - Powder Pink
rated 3 of 5
macalcia 10/25/2009 1:55:00 PM

It's good as a blush, but not as a lip color, altough it's marketed as a multi-task product. It looks better when I apply it with a foundation brush then blend it; doesn't look so good when I apply it with my fingers. I liked it, but didn't exactly LOVED it... anyway, I would buy again in another color.

Polishes -Chanel - Le Vernis Nail Colour in Vendetta #483
rated 2 of 5

It only gets purple if you use just one coat. Mora than that, it's basically BLACK, with some shimmer. Anyway, wether I apply 1 or 2 coats, the QUALITY is not good... it chips off a lot - like at the second day or even at the first! - and it doesn't shine even when I use some topcoat. I'm so disappointed. I'm going back to the cheaper brands...

Primer/ Corrector -Yves Saint Laurent - Touche Eclat (Radiant Touch)
rated 1 of 5

I wanted so much to like it, I even bought two different colors. But all I can say is that either it doesn't work at all or it makes me look worse. I know it's not supposed to cover dark circles or anything, because it's a highlighter and not a concealer, but anyway... I'm NC20, and number 1 made my undereye area look pale, gray and awful. Number two made absolutely no difference at all. I've tried it at the sides of the nose to highlight, but again, no effect. Won't buy it ever again.

Lotions/ Creams -Korres - Yoghurt Body Butter
rated 5 of 5

This is a fabulous body moisturizer. It's great for dry skin like mine, but it absorbs quickly. It was great to banish the tiny bumps that appear in my tighs some days after waxing. I like the smell, altough it doesn't smell like yogurt at all.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #187 Duo Fiber Face Brush (Stippling, Skunk Brush)
rated 5 of 5
macalcia 10/24/2009 4:34:00 PM

I love this brush for light application of blush. The results are really natural. But I don't like it as much as a foundation brush, because it leaves some streaks. I won't take any lippies because it's great for what I use (blush, highlighter and bronzer application).

Mascara -Christian Dior - DiorShow BlackOut Waterproof
rated 5 of 5
macalcia 10/22/2009 9:08:00 PM

This is the best mascara I've ever used. It makes yours lashes big, fat and really beautiful all day. It's without a doubt the most volumizing mascara I know. I clean the brush a little before applying, so it doesn't get clumpy. The only problem is that it's SO hard to take it off, even with an oil-based cleanser.

I hated this product. It just doesn't moisturize at all and is a pain to come out of the tube. I bought one for me and other for my boyfriend and he hated it as well...

Shampoo -TiGi - Self Absorbed Shampoo
rated 3 of 5
macalcia 2/9/2009 4:59:00 PM

The smell is wonderful (something like oranje juice and papaya), but the product itself is nothing extraordinary. It's by no means a bad shampoo, but for the price, it didn't make such a difference. Would buy again if it was cheap, but only because of the smell.

Conditioner -TiGi - Bed Head Dumb Blonde Reconstructor
rated 3 of 5
macalcia 2/9/2009 4:56:00 PM

SO bad. I'm not blond, but this is for everyone with damaged hair, as the label says. But for me it was awful. It has a really strong smell of pineapple that hangs in your hair for hours. Made my hair impossible to detangle, even when I tried to use if AFTER shampoo+conditioner. It's expensive but I thought it was better for my hair to stop using it when I reached the middle of the bottle. EDIT: I tried it again now that my hair is dyed and damaged. I like it more now, it doesn't have the tangling effect anymore, but anyway I don't think it's really a great product. I gave it two more lippies now because I see that's not exactly awful...
