Lipstick -Revlon - Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain - Honey
m3filley 3/17/2013 11:44:00 AM
I purchased Honey with some reservations, based on the MUA comments that the color tends to evolve into an obvious pink shade. A round of Accutane (20yrs ago) has made my lips dry & sensitive to many things, especially all things labeled "Stain". But I was tempted by the "Balm" aspect & the retailer assured me there was a return policy if it didn't work for me (I stashed the receipt) And as luck would have it, on the first application, I did have that *very* pink hue result - I wanted something that was more natural, MLBB. In addition, it wasn't moisturizing in the manner that traditional balms are for me. The minty effect feels cool, but somewhat heavy & drying. But instead of returning, tossing it into the bin or my shoebox graveyard of unused cosmetics, I persevered with some success. I discovered that if I prep my lips with Aquaphor before bedtime or Jack Black during the day, the stain effect works better - there's no obvious pink transformation & the color fades evenly. It stays put - no transfer to glassware. I found that it can be a good base for my other lipsticks. This is not the HG product I was looking for & therefore would not repurchase at full price. If your retailer has a return policy, I would recommend you try it as there are positive reviews here. If you have a less than positive result (& a no return policy), experiment with your application methods. You might be able to salvage the product like I did.

Lip Treatments -Fresh - Sugar Rose Lip Treatment SPF 15

The formula irritated my lips, dried them out & peeling commenced. Took a week of Aquaphor to get them back to normal. I find I can tolerate it to top off a few of my matte lipsticks, so I salvaged the product to that extent. But on bare lips, it's a no-go for me. The packaging is top notch, but even if it did not wreck my kisser, at this price point it would be a luxury purchase & I would rather allocate that kind of money towards high end hair or skin care products. Like many MUA reviews, it was my free gift from Sephora. I wavered on selecting the men's birthday option; Anthony Logistics Glycolic Face Cleanser (deluxe sample). A minor regret as I was trying to undo the peeling lip damage

Moisturizers -Ponds - Rejuveness Anti-Wrinkle Cream

I like this, but not for my face - too sensitive for this formula. The baby powder scent is much too strong. But it works well in helping me manage the KP on my legs and upper arms. Very moisturising + the strong scent does not linger on my body. Would I buy this again? For KP management, Yes. I purchased a 7oz jar at a sale price of $6 USD incl tax, which was a *steal* since Amlactin & LacHyrdrin generally retail for $17 for 7.9oz, ($14 sale price). Even at the full retail price of $10, this Ponds formula is a great value for my intentions. Also, Amlactin tends to leave a very strong sour smell on my skin (which transfers to my clothes). That might explain why Ponds did not go unscented with this formulation.

Lip Treatments -Neutrogena - Revitalizing lip balm

Good product. I completely agree with 'ambomb' on the packaging. I use the narrow end to define my upper lip & the wide angle for the lower. I hesitated on purchasing this based on earlier reviews & bit the bullet when my local Walgreens had a 25% off special. Have been using it for 7 days now and I can say it has improved the appearance of my lips, (a bit of plumping & smoothing). The balm's texture is nice & the color (Plum) works very well with my fair coloring, very MLBB. The heavier pigment is a better value as it can sub in for my $14 Origins Matte Stick in Berry (which I apply over clear spf balm). I should mention that, with the heavier pigment, I found a light application / dotting it on works best. My first use I sorta "schmeared" it on and it looked odd on me, but after experimenting, I got great natural looking results. The Plum is now my everyday staple. I would be willing to try the other colors if there is another sale (I'm in budget mode). If you are on the fence about trying it, ask an SA about their return policy & save your receipt.

Treatments -Dr. Hauschka - Neem Hair Lotion
m3filley 1/8/2011 10:37:00 AM
This is a stellar product. I have dry, fine, wavy/wirey chemically treated hair, but oily scalp. To complicate matters, I live in a city where the water is also chemically treated - I have to use LimeAway regularly to clean around the faucets - so I dread to think what residue is happening on my scalp and hair. I wash 2-3x week. DH Neem Hair Lotion does a great job resolving my scalp issues. I apply it after washing/before styling - and sometimes between washings when needed. It feels really great on the scalp. Since I started using this last October, I also noticed my hair tangles much less in the shower. The sulfate free shampoo I'm using works more efficiently & there is hardly any hair collecting in the shower drain (where there used to be -ugh - a lot). Yes, I would say this has improved the health of my scalp and hair. Agree the bottle makes for an awkward application. Like another MUA review, I saved an eye dropper from one of my serum bottles and use it to dispense the product. I did find it retail at Whole Foods, but found less expensive options via the web. The bottle arrived sealed and with a July 2011 expiration date. So check around, this is definitely worth trying.
