Polishes -L'Oreal - Color Riche Nail, Charmed, I'm Sure

Unlike some of the previous reviewers, I fortunately had a very positive experience with Charmed, I'm Sure. I grabbed it at Wal-Mart on a whim, wanting to try a L'Oreal polish but not having any particular color in mind. I picked it up half-hoping it was a quirky take on a shimmery beige. Upon application, there is nothing super special about it, but I'm very pleased to see it on my fingers. It's shiny and flattering and in the right spot between neutral and 'different'. It sometimes comes across as gold; in harsher lights, as silver. I think the finish is beautiful. It's not streaky and exudes a shimmery, almost metallic look, not looking as much as a polish but as if my nails were naturally this color. If you're looking for something out there and crazy, this may not deliver, but it worked perfectly to satisfy my mid-week, new-polish manicure needs. I also love the packaging of these L'Oreal bottles. The brushed gold handles and fat little square bottles are VERY appealing to me. I also liked the short handle. The brush is squared-off, average and didn't cause a problem. I don't remember having any difficulty with application or the formula. I really love this polish and color! Next time I feel the need to grab a new color, I'm going to look to L'Oreal first.

Polishes -Zoya - Elodie

This is a very BRIGHT orange/pink! Looking at swatches on amazon and zoya's website made me expect a paler, pinker color, closer to the color of watermelon than a strong coral, and when I got the bottle I thought it was very bright and more orange than expected. The photo here does it better justice. That said, I do like it! It looks really nice on me and is a really great summer color.

Lipstick -E.L.F. - Studio Matte Lip Color

I REALLY wanted to love this product. I normally wear it with an Eos balm underneath, in order to make the application smoother. I think it goes on very well. It's a lot like a fat lip pencil, except not as smooth/soft. I found that since the tip was smaller than a typical lipstick, it was easier to fill in around my lips. I also liked the pretty pink of Coral (which isn't really coral at all). The reason why I don't love it -- after a while, the color fills into the cracks of my lips or smudges to the outside looking like pink gunk. If you know what I'm talking about and know how to fix/prevent it, then this lipstick is pretty good. For me, I was bummed that it looked crazy after I checked it after shopping. I still like it and wear it if I'm not actually going anywhere, but after checking that bad look today I didn't hurry to buy more. I'll be on the look out for similar fat pencil lipsticks at drugstores.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Length
rated 4 of 5

I LOVE this stuff. For me, mascara is great, not only if it makes my lashes look better, but if it's easy for me to apply it too. I can layer it and play with it with no clumps, and if a random clump gets on a lash, it's so easy to gently pull it off with the wand. I think that's because it's pretty dry, compared to a lot of others I've tried. It makes my lashes so long and pretty and soft, and doesn't separate them into sharp mini-spears/spider legs, which is a look I avoid. Love the slender wand, as well. Sometimes it's too long and seems out of control but I like that it's one thin shape the whole way through. All and all, I don't think this is the *perfect* mascara, especially if I am going for a doe-eyed look. But I can use it consistently from day-to-day, I don't need a feather-light touch, I'm always satisfied, and I've completely forgiven the bright yellow tube. This is the only mascara I've repurchases so it's definitely a fave and a safe buy.

Polishes -Sally Hansen - maximum growth nourishing nail colour pearl wisdom

I had a different experience with this product. Yes, it requires patience to dry. But it is my go-to color if I want something other than my normal color but nothing in particular strikes me. It's a very, very sheer pink with a slight pearly reflection if you look closely. With two coats, I can still see where my nail goes white at the tip. I'm wearing one coat now, and it's effect is to make my nails look shiny, light and clean. Similar to a clear coat, for how I use it. I've had the one coat on since Sunday and it's only started to chip, which is another thing I really like. It's also a good color to get away with if your job technically doesn't allow nail polish. Don't make the mistake I did at first and layer on 5 coats attempting to make it opaque, that just makes it nasty and gummy.
