Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion

Horrible product. Shame on me for assuming a Clinique product would be safe to use without patch testing first. I got a small tube of this with the most GWP . I used on my neck and cheeks in the am and repeated the next am. Within hours of the second aplication I developed numerous angry red raised itchy bumps on my neck and really gross large almost hive-like swellings on my cheeks. This was the only change in my product line up and all reactions were only in the places I had applied this product. Now I am using an OTC hydro cortisone cream to clear this up. I am really shocked by this as I have used a Clinque face cleanser for years without issue. Lesson learned, don't assume you won't react to a different product, even one that is touted as "hypoallergenic".

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express One by One
rated 4 of 5

Been using this for a month now and I really like it. I was so heartbroken that Max Factor left the U.S. as Volume Couture was my HG of everyday mascaras. Hated Falsies, came to hate Loreal Extra Volume Collagen due to falking. This is a good everyday mascara. Does provide some length but I think it gives me more volume. Does not leave me with crunchy lashes either. No problems with clumping or flaking. As this price point I am very pleased and will repurchase at least until they mess it up with a new formulation.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Argan oil

And on the 5th day there were zits..where there had been none. Not sure if the oil is the cause because I felt I have may have overexfoliated a little too. I thought maybe if I backed off on glycolics and clairisonic for a few days and used light application of oil at night only(too greasy for daytime) that my face would feel better. It does feel better but I'm not willing to pay the price of breakouts for feeling better. It doesn't look better. I don't believe this is a purge situation. Will use this on my cuticles and occassionally on my hair. Will not repurchase.

Styling Products -Living Proof - Full Thickening Cream
rated 5 of 5

Okay, I have been using this for a week now. Does it give me a supermodel haystack of hair? No. I am 50 years old and my hair is the same texture it was when I was 5. Plenty of hair but oh so fine and slippery. It basically collapses on itself. No other product I have ever used has done what this does, the best way I can describe it is that it adds FRICTION. My hair is shoulder length with long layers.I use a fat pea sized amount and dry thoroughly. What I end up with second day body immediately and a little more volume. The only other product I use is a little spray on the top. Leaves my hair shiny and it feels like normal hair, not sticky or gunky. I have high and lowlights and I am not seeing any negative effects on my color. Having carried on this battle with my hair with 30+ years I have left behind the wishful thinking and maybe this works approach to products . This is a real result and I am very pleased with it and will definitely repurchase.

Foundations -Unlisted Brand - Lucy Minerals Foundation
rated 5 of 5
luvnewstuff 9/9/2010 9:22:00 AM

The other reviews here give all the product info so I just want to add my experience. I have used minerals for almost 20 years now. Started with Bare Minerals, moved on to Jane Iredale and have used Everyday Minerals for the last 3-4 years. As my face gets older and product lines change, or don't change, I have always been able to find another lines that did the job. Lucy Minerals is so much more than just doing the job...it makes my skin look GOOD! In reading these reviews I couldn't wrap my head around a "creamy" finish mm but now that I have this fantastic foundation I would agree it does have a creamy finish. Even at 50 I still have an oily t zone so I use the OCC finishing powder over my hourglass primer but under the Lucy foundation. Finish off with a light extra coat of OCC finish on the t zone only and I end up with a glowing yet very NATURAL looking face....the OCC has totally normalized the oil so I don't have the slick in the middle anymore. It also has the coolest effect on my blush, I have never mastered the blending for a really natural looking blush but applied over the OCC finishing powder does it for me, hard to explain but a real bonus....and on my skin it feels like nothing, not dry or tight or slick, just like I don't have on any makeup! My male hairdresser told me yesterday that I looked happy and rested...the only difference was Lucy Minerals. Also had a dental appointment yesterday and the same hygenist who has seen me for 20 years said right away to me, "you look good today, like you are well rested and calm, can't really put my finger on it,". Neither of these people have ever said anything like that before so I have all the confirmation I need that Lucy is what hasbeen missing in my face collection! Any of u minerals ladies out there less than totally satisfied with your current product need to give Lucy a try. Samples are generous and inexpensive, I found a match in my first batch of 3.

Polishes -Ulta - Jaded
rated 1 of 5

I feel kinda bad writing bad things about a free product but others should be warned. Got this as part of a GWP at Ulta and really love the cool green color. That is where the love ends though. This is by far the worst, goopiest, non-covering polish ever. I kept thinking that the pink tinted stuff that used to come in the little girls kits is better than this stuff. Took three coats to get an almost even color. Waiting for coat number 4 to dry as I'm writing. If you love a funky green polish buy any other brand than this one!

Primer/ Corrector -Hourglass - Veil Mineral Primer SPF 15
rated 4 of 5

I too was recently introduced to this product via Sephora sample. I also purchased the full sized product within 3 days. For those of us with oily skins this is truly a life changing product! I use only one pump across the t zone and no more blotting......it works wonderfully under my mineral loose powder foundation. I haven't had any issues with a whitish cast.....this stuff is fantastic. Yes, it is expensive but when you consider that you don't need to purchase blotting papers anymore and you don't have to constantly check your face for shine it is well worth the price. Can't say enough good things about this product, I only wish it had been available 20 years ago!

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Pro Skincare Brush
rated 5 of 5
luvnewstuff 12/3/2009 7:01:00 PM

I've been using my Clarisonic for almost a year now. Treated myself with some xmas $$ last year. I have to say this product has improved my skin more than anything else I've used EVER!! I'm staring down the big 50, still have somewhat oily skin with occassional breakouts. My bigger problem in the past few years has been weird, clogged pores that don't breakout....just closed clogs that I could extract an oily buildup from. It was driving me nuts. I thought I was cleaning my skin thoroughly with an oil cleanser followed by a mild soap. I bit the bullet, got a really good deal online actually and the transformation began. My pores appear smaller, my skin tone has evened out and it overall feels firmer. Those weird little bumps are now history I highly recommend this tool, even though the inital cost is on the high side it will pay for itself in results!! Edit 5/7/10: Just had to share this neat trick I discovered this morning. Ate pepperoni pizza for dinner last night which made me drink tons of water afterwards, I woke up with MAJOR bags under my eyes. Tried cold compresses and massage but no visible difference. Picked up my brush and wet the brush head thoroughly with ice water, set it on low and proceeded to gently run back & forth under my eye. Took about 4 cycles for each eye but it was amazing, I could actually see the changes in the bags as I worked. Afterwards used my usual Perricone Advanced Eye Therapy and was good to go. No apparent damage at all to the undereye area. Would probably not work on minor baggage but I would recommend for the big ones....can't hurt and you may just be amazed!

Mascara -L'Oreal - Telescopic Explosion
rated 3 of 5
luvnewstuff 12/3/2009 1:13:00 PM

Okay, I've read all the reviews here and still couldn't stop myself from buying this. The little spiky ball applicator intrigued me since I saw the first ad. After using this three times I must say I love the spiky ball but hate the mascara! So far I've gotten the best results by using this brush at inner and outer corners and on my lower lashes. Then I go back to my curent fav, L'oreal Extra Volume Collagen for the "middle" section of upper lashes. Definitely not the fan of lush thickness in the ad but I can actually see my corner lashes out of the corner of my eye----never had that happen before. for now I think this is a useful product but not so much a solo product. When this tube dries up I'll hold on to the applicator and hopefully it will work well with some of my other mascaras.
