Styling Products -TiGi - Catwalk Sexed-Up Body Building Tonic
luvmejoice 2/12/2011 6:50:00 PM
I've been experimenting with this for a few months now. I bought it in August I think and tried spraying it directly onto my hair, dry, wet, using it with the blow dryer, you name it. I have thin, fine, wavy hair that's short and layered in an attempt to give it a little bit of volume. My friend says I have "cat hair", because it's so wispy and soft. Because of this I have a really hard time giving it volume and body. I found the best way to use this spray is as a finishing product, after I finish drying/styling my hair. Whether I just blow dry my hair or use a straightening iron too, I always spritz some (no more than 2 sprays) in the palm of my hand, rub my hands together and spread it evenly through my hair, concentrating on the roots and lifting my hair as I work the product in. What I see is an instant lift. I suddenly have the volume I want. I can make it as messy or as clean as I want, just depends how much I shake my hair around. And it's not only that. My hair finally has a coarser texture, it's not crunchy or rough, but just ... thicker. And body. My gosh, whenever I use this I can't stop running my fingers through my hair. I love that it feels like I have a lot of hair, that my fingers get tangled in it instead of sleeking right through my 3 strands of limp hair. I also use this as an instant lift the day after I wash my hair (I wash it every couple days), when it's no longer fresh and starting to get oily at the roots. A great product that will last me a long time since I only need a little every time.

Eye Shadow -Too Faced - Couture Eye Shadow Luxe - Label Whore
luvmejoice 1/13/2011 4:48:00 AM
I didn't buy this eyeshadow individually. It's part of the Enchanted Glamourland palette. I'm really really really not liking this color. First of all, the combo of red-brown and teal seems very odd. And second, it's one of the most unflattering eyeshadows I've ever worn. I have a light complexion, warm-neutral-ish with very slight olive undertones. I can't wear warm browns at all, because they make me look very sick. Yesterday I gave it a shot, combined it with a teal eyeshadow on the lid and put Label Whore in the crease and hoped for the best. No matter how much I blended it out, it just got redder, went higher, made me look like the living dead. I give it 2 lippies because the pigmentation is very good but otherwise, I hate it.

Loose Powders -Estee Lauder - Lucidity Translucent Loose Powder
luvmejoice 10/12/2010 3:34:00 AM
I can't believe my mother received this as a gift and never used it! Luckily for us, we share cosmetics so anything I don't like, she uses and viceversa. I have normal skin that doesn't usually get oily throughout the day so that's not a problem. But my foundation sometimes cakes or flakes and I don't look so flawless at the end of the day. I started using this mostly out of pity because I thought it was such a shame to waste an Estee Lauder product. I did notice something different when using a light dusting of this powder but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I just thought it looked better than my drugstore compact powders. Then one day it hit me: OMG MY FACE LOOKS AWESOME AND PORELESS! And it's all to do with this powder! It's a miracle, I look so flawless and I stay like that throughout the day! Any other powder I've tried matiffies my face, even makes it look dusty or chalky. With this, it's like I'm using a softbox! Edited: I have to add that I have this powder in Transparent and I just use a fluffy brush with a minimal amount of powder on it to dust my face. Completely in love, will definitely repurchase!

Polishes -OPI - Catch Me In Your Net
luvmejoice 9/30/2010 4:31:00 AM
OMG this color is incredible! The pictures only show half of its awesomeness! Honestly, the best I can describe it is: mermaid's tail! It's a gorgeous darkish teal which shines green and gold. It's so sparkly it almost looks foiled! A very unique color worth buying!

Lipstick -NYX - Peach
luvmejoice 9/17/2010 6:43:00 AM
As other reviewers have said, this isn't exactly a peach color. It's still very nice. But the finish is too frosty for my liking, it emphasizes every line in my lips, makes them look chapped even if they aren't. Otherwise a very nice lipstick, creamy and pigmented. It just doesn't work for me

Lotions/ Creams -Avene - Cicalfate Creme reparatrice
luvmejoice 8/18/2010 1:00:00 AM
This is an early review but I'm certain I won't need to update it as the effects are incredible after the first use. Let me explain my situation. I'm 22 and got chicken pox a week and a half ago. The itching has stopped but I'm full of scabs. The ones on my face are healing much faster than the ones on my body and I only have a few left. Yesterday, I accidentally pulled off the biggest scab I had on my face, which left me with a pretty large raw spot. I panicked and asked my mom to go to the drugstore and ask for anything that would prevent a permanent scar. She came home with this. I am normally very skeptic when it comes to wonder creams but this .... it's like a miracle in a tube. I put a glob of this cream right on the raw flesh. I felt nothing, no itching, no irritation even though I was expecting that. It took a good 4 hours, maybe more, for the cream to sink in. Today I woke up and, drumroll please, the wound closed! The crater in my face is closed! It's like it magically created extra skin! Now I have no doubt that my face and body will remain scar free after this terrible illness. I was close to tears when I saw a big hole in my cheek now I'm close to tears of happiness I can't believe a cream can do so much after just one use! I don't think I would ever need to repurchase since it's such a big tube but if I ever ran out, yes, I'd repurchase. It's an amazing product and the price is reasonable, 14$ for 40ml.

Eyes -Unlisted Brand - theallnaturalface - eyeshadows
luvmejoice 7/24/2010 8:03:00 AM
I LOVE theallnaturalface! Crystal is really sweet and prompt and generous and helpful, the customer service is one of the best! I have samples of all her eyeshadows, even the new ones and though *some* are repackaged mica with a transparent base, most are very unique colors, very pigmented and easily blendable. A 5g jar of eyeshadow costs only 3$ and you get a ton of product. The eyeshadows come in a variety of textures. Some are very frosty and shimmery. Some only have slight shimmer making them easy to wear. And the mattes are very nice too. There's nothing more to say, I can go on and on about how much I like them. I've included swatches of most of the eyeshadows, I haven't gotten around to swatching the 20 new shades.

Eye Makeup Remover -L'Oreal - Dermo Expertise Gentle Eye Make Up Remover for Eyes and Lips - WATERPROOF
luvmejoice 7/14/2010 7:48:00 PM
Total HG eye makeup remover for me! I love coastal scents gel liner but it's such a pain to get off. This has never disappointed me! I do not have to tug or rub, just soak a cotton pad and most of my makeup comes right off. I always get a ton of mascara at the roots of my lashes and what I do is place the cotton pad folded in half and then it kind of fits under my eyelashes without touching my eyes or skin so I can rub with no problems and it only takes about 10-20 seconds, depending on how much gel liner got between my lashes. The price is excellent, less than 10$ for such great quality. A bottle of this gets me through 2 months, it's a pretty good deal. I just ran out of it and was forced to buy another out of necessity and tomorrow I'm going out and buying 3 of these to make sure I never run out!

Cleansers -Vichy - Purete Thermale Demaquillant Integral One Step Cleanser 3in1
luvmejoice 7/14/2010 7:36:00 PM
UGH! This is one very horrible makeup remover! I am a makeup lover and love going heavy on my eyes, with waterproof gel liner that gets between my lashes and is hard to get rid of. I don't know why the hell I strayed from my L'oreal eye makeup remover! The girl at the drugstore assured me that I'd be satisfied. Personally, at almost 20$, I would not pat this much for makeup remover because I go through them so fast. But mom is a big sucker for sales people and bought it for me. Today was my birthday, I was very glammed up. At 1:30 am, the very last thing you want to do is spend 10 minutes tugging and rubbing your eyes, my eyes still burn a little and I still have a bit of liner stuck between my lashes. I tried to make this work, I really did! First I did what they advise you to do, I put a bit on my eyelids and gently rubbed it around. I used loose mineral makeup, that stuff comes off easily but with this load of c**p IT DID NOT BUDGE! How is it possible that you stir a glob of makeup remover on eyeshadow and the colors just muddy up a bit? The cotton pad didn't even remove all the eyeshadow and my liner and mascara were practically as new. Oh, and I got a black face. Not eye, face. The makeup didn't stay on the cotton pad but just smeared across my face and the more I tried to clean my face the worse it got!!! On the other eye I tried the classical method of just putting makeup remover on a cotton pad. The results were the same, I would have gotten better results with plain water! I tried focusing on just one part of my makeup, my very low quality mascara which melts if I tear a bit. NOTHING! Just typing this makes me want to throw it in the bin! I also had a little foundation left on my face(ironically Vichy foundation, which I am in love with) and bronzer, both products fairly easy to remove. Not with this milky *insert numerous swear words*! Again, I tried gently massaging it on my face and a cotton pad soaked in it. The thermal water I used afterward did a better job melting my foundation! This is a product chock full of chemicals designed to melt makeup and it's being owned by WATER ... with some minerals in it! At least if it was good at removing my face makeup I'd have use for it. I was thinking whether this could be a good product for people who don't wear much makeup but no ... I think you can get much better products at less than half the price. Even Nivea worked better, or Garnier, anything, just don't waste your money on this.

Highlighters -Too Faced - Absolutely Invisible Candlelight
luvmejoice 7/13/2010 1:47:00 AM
I bought this powder out of impulse, it just dazzled me in Sephora and I had to have it. I payed a little over 30$ for it and I don't feel like I got my money's worth. This is a very light powder with very fine gold shimmer. I don't recommend using it as an all-over powder unless you like looking like a discoball. As fine as the shimmer is, it's still noticeable so it's best to use it as a highlight for your cheekbones. I wanted to fall in love with it. I wanted it to become a staple product in my collection, the one expensive item that is worth its weight in gold. Nope, not it. It's pretty chalky, I hardly get any on my brush. And there's no candlelight glow on my face. It just looks like a golden highlighter. Much subtler than any other highlight I've tried but you can still see the sparkles in it and I was really looking for something I can use day and night and look the tiniest bit natural, something to finish a look. The packaging is really pretty but I feel ripped off. They included a stupid little sponge and I don't know why, this is not the kind of powder you'd cake on your face. That just adds to the pricetag and it's not fair. All in all, if you want a pretty powder, this is for you. It's a nice splurge if you have spare cash lying around. I don't think I would buy this again. Not that anyone would have to since you're getting 9g of powder, enough to last you a lifetime.

Bronzers -Too Faced - Chocolate Soleil
luvmejoice 7/4/2010 9:02:00 PM
This is the perfect bronzer for light skinned girls who don't tan much during the summer! I was a little afraid to put this on because it's so much darker than my skintone and it also looked a lot warmer in the pan. I already have an oompa loompa bronzer so this couldn't be any worse. OMG! This is so amazing! On all levels! It's matte, it's buildable without ever looking powdery, it creates the perfect shading, it stays on until I want to take it off, it has a great mirror, it smells fantastic and I am probably going to stay loyal to this bronzer forever (though that's not stopping me from still buying others, just for diversity) I find it pretty expensive, at 30 something $, but then again, you get a lot of use out of it so it's worth it. I love how I can use this under blushes that normally don't look so good on my fair skin. I can finally wear that glittery hot pink blush and not look like a clown!

Foundations -Max Factor - MAX FACTOR LASTING PERFORMANCE
luvmejoice 6/29/2010 2:51:00 PM
I only started wearing foundation 3 years ago and this was the first one I bought. At that time I was using a sponge and didn't really pay much attention to how it looked throughout the day or if I even had anything to take off in the evening. All I remember is that I wasn't at all wowed by it. Last month I received a mini, half ounce of this foundation. Today I decided I'd use it and see how I like it because I love reviewing products. It's not a pretty outcome. First of all, I did half my face using the foundation brush and I can't help but notice just how much product I end up using because it's not really blendable. I then did the other half of my face using a stippling brush. The results were much better, I used less than half the product I used on the other side, it blended and the coverage was pretty good. After applying cream blush, cream highlight and a dusting of powder I got ready to go out. Not 10 minutes had passed and when looking in the bathroom mirror I saw how the foundation was already looking pretty cakey. I sort of fixed it with a quick spray of thermal water. Then I went out to the mall with my friend, we stayed inside most of the 3 hours we spent together and today wasn't even a hot day. I have combination oily skin but I never ever come home to find that my face is an oil slick! Something in this foundation isn't good for me because it makes my face really oily and yucky! I also can't say much about it's "lasting performance" as it's not long lasting at all. Maybe if you sit perfectly still it will still be on after 7-8 hours but if you touch your face from time to time (or, God forbid, have a boyfriend) your face will be almost bare when you get home. Overall, it's not something I'd spend my money on, there are much better drugstore foundations. I will give it 5 for the packaging, it's very practical and hygienic.

Lipstick -Yves Rocher - Luminelle Rouge Dragee Lipstick
luvmejoice 6/29/2010 5:45:00 AM
I have this in Rose Innocent. It's a pretty, kind of frosty rose shade. It's a nice color but nothing too special for my taste. I dislike the fact that it's pretty sheer and I have to layer it on to get the color in the tube. On me, this is a MLBB color. It just makes them pop more, look a bit more pink. Staying power is ok but the smell ... is sickening. Like plastic oranges, ew! Good thing it's not such a strong scent or I wouldn't be using this at all. I won't be repurchasing as I think there are better lipsticks out there. Maybe if this was a cream shade ... but it's not.

Fragrances -Van Cleef & Arpels - Feerie
luvmejoice 6/29/2010 3:54:00 AM
This is the only perfume I can smell on me the whole day! It is a perfect fit for me, body chemistry, personality, everything. I'm not much of a perfume girl and most of my perfumes I receive as gifts. I received a sample of this, among a dozen others, and it was love at first spray! On me, this smells like freshly picked berries, especially blueberries. Normally, the sweet scent of blueberries makes me sick to my stomach but here is the incredible part of this perfume: a fresh, floral scent cuts the nauseating sweetness! I have nothing bad to say about this perfume. From the unique smell to the gorgeous bottle to the cute name ... I LOVE IT! I finally ordered a full 100ml EDP and I will keep repurchasing to the end of my life! Feerie and me are a match made in perfume heaven!

Liquid -Vichy - Aera Teint Pure Fluid Foundation Finish Up to 12 Hour Wear
luvmejoice 6/28/2010 7:05:00 AM
I first got to try this foundation in a sample I found in a magazine. That little bag had enough foundation for me to use it twice, mom used it once and there was still enough left for at least one more application but unfortunately it dried out. The sampler was small but this foundation spreads out evenly and smoothly, offering enough coverage that you only need a tiny bit of product. Needless to say, I was sold! After a week, I found it in the drugstore, got matched, bought it and I never looked back. This was an incredibly good buy! You get a full ounce of product for little more than 20$ (at least that's the price in my country). Although I generally don't have problematic skin, there is that time of the month when I look icky and pimply and red and the pores look larger than ever. Even at those troubled times, it only takes half a pump to cover any imperfections. What's really wonderful is that this doesn't settle in fine lines and pores as many drugstore foundations tend to do (I'm looking at you, Revlon Custom Creations!) I'm going to end my review here, there's no use to endless rambling and raving. I LOVE it and will definitely repurchase!
