I had a very bad experience with this product. It gave me the worst breakout ever, though my skin was dry at the time. I saw alcohol denat as being listed in the ingredients - bad news. I had to return to the store.

Scrubs -Dr. Brandt - Microdermabrasion in a Jar
rated 4 of 5

This fabulous exfoliator cleared my skin of daily whiteheads, greasy skin and dullness. I'm now brimming with fresh faced confidence thanks to it. I must mention, though, that my skin is currently oily due to our hot & humid summers. I was nervous before using this exfoliator, thinking it will worsen my break-outs since it has microbeads. However, the opposite happened, and now my skin is smoother. The fresh minty smell is invigorating. Note: I found this product to be drying in the winter time, even when used once a week. I wouldnt buy it again because of the high price.

Treatments -Dermalogica - Skin Hydrating Booster
rated 3 of 5
lushyluxe 12/4/2012 4:03:00 PM

I've now given it sufficient review time, and its with great relief that I now conclude that this is a satisfactory product. I bought it in winter when nothing would quench my parched skin. I added it to different trials of moisturisers and ended up either with breakouts (Clarins super restorative) or having to reapply at 2 hour intervals (Decleor hydra floral). I ended up shelving it for summer, and its a good thing I didn't toss it cos this baby was made for summer. Its light, fast absorbing and doesnt seem to do anythingelse but hydrate your skin. It works best for me in summer when mixed with a light moisturiser, so I mix a drop of the booster with 3 pumps of LP's Advanced Marine Biology Emulsion. I layer this mix on top of LP Retexturizing booster and I apply sunscreen on top. No breakouts, no midday dryess on my cheeks.

Moisturizers -Decleor - Aromessence Rose D'Orient Night Balm
rated 4 of 5
lushyluxe 12/4/2012 3:49:00 PM

I cant begin to tell you how dreamy this balm is. It sure feels and looks greasy after you've applied it, but it absorbs quickly into the skin. I apply it once a week before bedtime, and I immediately notice the radiance effect. In the morning I say hello to a smooth bright skin. Its helped me recover from allergic reactions to harsh Kanebo Sensai products. It also soothes random rashes from skin allergies. The weekly usage means the 15ml could last me a year, so no plans of repurchasing anytime soon.

Masks -Sisley - Botanical Facial Mask With Tropical Resins
rated 4 of 5
lushyluxe 12/4/2012 3:40:00 PM

Yes its spendy, but this gotta be the most gentle purifying mask there is. I use it weekly after exfoliating and i dont get that tight dryness on my face after washing it off. Its soothing, giving my face a clear bright complexion. I used to have an average of 6 pimples at any given moment. Since using Sisley Tropical resins masque I go zit free for days. My skin is more calm, more balanced. It fares much better than Chanel's Purete masque, which stings upon application and washes off to reveal dry rough skin. Its also better than Decleor's purifying mask which also stung my nose and had little effect on my blemishes. Now that I've found my HG what am I gonna do with my other trial n errors.

Moisturizers -Perricone - Face Finishing Moisturizer
rated 1 of 5
lushyluxe 11/20/2012 3:58:00 PM

This one is for normal, combination or oily skin types. I bought this during my frantic search for a moisturizer. My skin was parched to the point where it was too painful to wash with water. This moisturizer did not help me in my plight. It sits sticky and moist on the surface of the skin, never absorbing. It gives that feeling of instant hydration, but within an hour of exposure to the airconditioner there would be tightness around my cheeks. Fake moisturising effects. Its strong rosey fragrance is not that foul, but I could smell it the entire day..so annoying. Its the only moisturiser that I could not apply my Chanel SPF50 on top of, as it would lump up into sticky little balls. My face itched the whole day I had it on. And the tacky jar and thin plastic lid? Perricone must be taking us for a ride here. I got upset when my lid broke on the 3rd week, considering the hefty price of the cream. The only good thing is, it never gave me zits. But I finally gave up on it and passed it on to my DH. It gave him a nice glow within a week, his skin loves it and it shows. Pity he's not the one reviewing here, cos its just 1 lip for me.

Cleansers -Decleor - cleansing water
rated 3 of 5
lushyluxe 11/20/2012 2:58:00 PM

This is my first water cleanser and I'm taken in. I keep a bottle of this next to my TV couch for those lazy nights when I couldnt be bothered to do the full cleansing routine. I like it during the warmer seasons, as it could be stripping in winter. Random alert: La Prairie water cleanser is gentle enough regardless of the weather. I was lucky to purchase the 400ml size for the same price as the 250ml, during a Decleor special. Watch out for those deals over mothersday, valentines and so on. The smell took a bit of getting used to, but I must share with you the one knockout experience I had. I was at home and unwell that day when I went to the bathroom for a quick cleanse, and I poured some Decleor cleansing water on a cotton pad. As I drew the soaked cotton to my face, I was knocked out by the putrid smell, in fact I got so dizzy I lost balance. Granted I wasn't feeling well for starters, but this is to say sensitive types should be aware.

Cleansers -LUSH - 9 to 5
rated 2 of 5
lushyluxe 11/20/2012 2:12:00 PM

I have a high tolerance for heavily fragranced cleansers (Chanel purete mousse) or chemical smelling ones (holla at Kiehls washable cleanser), but danggg this here is on another level. I cannot deal with this smell. Yes it removes makeup, its affordable, good packaging.. But the smell makes this a miss.

Cleansers -Dermalogica - Special Cleansing Gel
rated 3 of 5
lushyluxe 11/20/2012 1:57:00 PM

This is my weekly cleanser during the summer. Its pleasantly fresh scented and it has a thick gel texture which I liked much better than the thin runny Ren Mayblossom. Cleanses better than Ren too. My partner's oilier skin can handle daily usage, but I found that too drying. All in all it does a good job at cleansing.

Sunscreen -Chanel - Precision UV Essential Daily Protection SPF45
rated 4 of 5
lushyluxe 11/20/2012 1:27:00 PM

I like that its light and absorbs pretty fast without leaving that dreaded white sheen. It also works well over most of my layered moisturisers and serums. Over the past 5 months of usage it hasnt caused breakouts, while on the other hand it doesnt dry my skin. I've also tried Clarins SPF40 which I found to be too heavy for summer, as well as Dermalogica 's sunscreens which took forever to absorb. Chanel's packaging is elegant and portable as expected of this brand. 1 down for the price point.

Cleansers -Kiehls - Washable Cleansing Milk
rated 5 of 5
lushyluxe 11/20/2012 12:53:00 PM

At last I've found my H.G cleanser. It keeps breakouts at bay, and yet it doesnt dry out my skin. Its also serves best at smoothing out the tiny bumps I had by the sides of my nose. With Kiehls washable cleanser my skin has a new found smoothness to it, a freshness like I've never had before. My only gripe is that my closest Kiehls supplier is 2 hours flight away. Can't have it all hey.

Treatments -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Intensive Serum
rated 1 of 5
lushyluxe 11/20/2012 12:39:00 PM

Horror of horrors, is what this serum is. I decided for a change to give a drugstore product a trial run hoping I'd fall in love and save $$$ while I'm at it, but noooooooo. So I applied it at night, and was immediately put off by that whiff of atchaar (a spicy relish in my country). I brushed that off, and caught my shut eye. Following day all was fine as I went over my morning skin care routine, and I made sure to put on sunblock with SPF50. The day progressed as usual, and in the evening I noticed a relentless burning itch inside my skin. I scratched nonstop but it didnt make a difference. I then checked the mirror and woah scary sight. The lower half of my face was covered in peeling skin that stood upright. The itch inside my skin persisted right through the night, even after a thorough cleanse. My face also got swollen. The following coupla days as the skin peeled, it revealed smooth but darker skin patches. These took 7 weeks of patient treatments until my skin was restored. Never again.

Treatments -Lancome - Bright Expert
rated 5 of 5
lushyluxe 11/20/2012 12:05:00 PM

I have been treating my hyperpigmentation over the years and have come to appreciate product performance over competitive price point. I have wasted money on some relatively cheaper deals, only to end up shelving the product for the lacklusture results it gave. Lancome Bright Expert is the only dark spot corrector that I will repurchase - that's how thrilled I am with its results. I highly endorse it. In fact, its one of the 2 Lancome products I haven't been disappointed with (Genefique not so much.. Vissionnaire even worse). Let's look at my top 10 list of hyperpigmentation treatments and how this particular product fares overall: 1. LP Retexturizing booster - I'm happy that this heavy duty skin resurfacer is not discontinued in my country, so I'm still enjoying the benefits. My dark spots were visibly lightened overnight even from the first day of usage. The one drawback is the midday shine if you wear it during daytime. 1 lippie off for the extortionate price. It doesnt cause breakouts, but can be drying. Quick absorption time means it can be safely layered with a moisturizer and suncreen. 2. LP Resurfacing Cream - delivers results similar to the retexturizing booster, but I found it drying as I was hesitant to layer a moisturizer over it. Nightime usage only. 3. Lancome Bright Expert - impressive dark spot corrector by Lancome that delivers visible results within 3 days of consecutive day+nightime usage. No breakouts, not drying, can wear with a cream on top. Reasonably priced for the amazing results it gives. 4. Dermalogica Daily resurfacer - Yes, this one is a quick deliverly stunner, though slightly drying. See results within 5 days. Price point not so favorable. 5. L'Occitaine Brightening essence - Its rather drying but does its job well. The other issue is that it takes forever to be absorbed, so I ended up using it only on weekends. It caused my sunscreen to pill. 6. Clarins BrightPlus serum - very gentle serum, takes forever to deliver visible results, but I didnt experience any breakouts or dry downs with it. 7. Dermalogica Renewal Booster - Lackluster performer, clogs pores and gives rough skin texture if too much is used. I've seen the rave review, but I personally wouldn't recommend. 8. Neostrata 15% glycolic cream - this cream works wonders but its a harsh product causing cystic acne on my oilier cheek. Its reasonably priced tho, so maybe the drier skin types might enjoy. 9. Shiseido White Lucent serum concentrate - expensive and pore clogging, but it makes a diff after 2 weeks. 10. Dermalogica Chromawhite C-12 - utterly useless. Still mad at myself for wasting my precious $$$ on this, considering it was my very first purchase of a treatment product. Live and learn, they say.
