I bought this sunscreen because I have sensitive skin, so I thought what would be better than a sunscreen for babies. It leaves a white cast no matter how much I rub it in. Very disappointing.
Lip Treatments -Nivea - A Kiss of Relief- SOS Lip Care
lunyc 4/21/2009 3:44:00 PM
Wow, I'm surprised at the past reviews for this product. This lip balm is the best I've ever used. I have constantly-dry lips, and have used everything from Kiehl's to Vaseline, but nothing hydrates my lips like this Nivea lip balm. I went the whole winter without dryness, and that's a big feat. I look forward to using it this summer, too. I hope they don't stop making it, it's hard to find, so I'm already stocking up!
Eye Shadow -Bourjois - Shimmering Shine Liquid Eyeshadow - all shades
lunyc 8/14/2008 4:21:00 PM
It took me about 3 tries to appreciate this eyeshadow. The first couple of times, it felt really wet on my lids (like when a dog licks your face, lol!). Plus, I had used my fingertip and I got it on all messy, and it was hard to remove once it dried. The third time, I used the applicator, and painted it on carefully onto my lids, and put on the rest of my makeup as it dried. I could feel it drying; it tightens up a little. Anyway, the staying power is incredible. I use the beige shade for everyday wear, and the shiny metallic definitely gives my eyes a nice pop. It comes off easily with facial cleanser and water, which is also amazing since it sticks like paint. I'm now content using it, but I will likely not repurchase simply because I don't use it enough, so I won't run out anytime soon. Who knows, it may dry out in the pot, will have to see.
Gels/Soaps -Yes To Carrots - C How to Shower Carrot Rich Shower Gel
lunyc 8/14/2008 3:53:00 PM
I'm really enjoying this shower gel. It leaves my dry skin soft and moisturized, feels very clean. The scent is light and carrot-y, but it doesn't bother me, so no biggie. Will have to see how it works in the winter when my skin gets even drier. I will repurchase if I see it on sale.
Shampoo -Neutrogena - Neutrogena Clean Volume Shampoo
lunyc 8/14/2008 3:46:00 PM
I like that this shampoo does not leave a "dirty" film, which is the way many volumizing shampoos give volume, such as L'Oreal Glossy & Volume. My hair actually feels clean after I wash it, but I also don't get any volume, so I will simply finish the bottle and move on. I will stick with styling products to give my fine hair some oomph.
Moisturizes my very-dry cheeks all day, but it's greasy. I can't walk around with such a shiny face all day, especially in the summer! I will save for the winter, and see how it does then.
I have this in cinnamon sugar, which looks brown in the tube, but is a nice natural berry on my lips. I like it because it does not dry out my lips, like most lipsticks. I just dab a bit on my bottom lip, smack my lips together, then spread with my finger for a natural look.
The ultimate test for me is to test a lotion on my elbows, which are flaky dry. This lotion lasted a few hours before my elbows flaked, so it's not the very best I've tried, but it did a good job at moisturizing my dry legs. I like it as a night lotion, since it's a bit thick and heavy, and I wouldn't want to walk around with it on during the day. I will see how it does in the winter when my legs get even drier.
Sunscreen -Coppertone - Sport Sunblock Lotion SPF 50
lunyc 6/11/2008 4:55:00 PM
I'm very pale, and burn easily. I've been using this sunblock for 2 years now, and love it! I do not burn! I do get a bit of a tan, but not too much. The best part is that when you apply, the lotion doesn't turn white on your skin. This goes on clear, and absorbs quickly. It's not very greasy (just a bit), but it makes my skin glisten, so I can live with it. The bottle is easy to grip, too. This is a keeper for me.
Gels/Soaps -Dove - Energize Grapefruit & Lemongrass Bodywash
lunyc 6/11/2008 4:47:00 PM
This body wash leaves my skin and bath pouf sticky! I had to throw out my bath pouf after about 5 uses because it was too sticky to hold, yuck! I don't get where the stickiness comes from, but I can't use this body wash.
Conditioner -L'Oreal - Vive Pro Glossy Volume, Fine Hair
lunyc 6/4/2008 4:57:00 PM
This conditioner works well. I've given up on expecting va-va-voom volume, so the volume I do get from this conditioner is enough to satisfy me. It worked best for me when I applied it all over (including roots). When I used it on just my lower half (I usually avoid my roots since they're oily), it did nothing. It also works well in conjunction with the matching shampoo. Overall, I don't love it, but I can live with it.
Cleansers -L'Oreal - Hydra-Confort foaming cleanser
lunyc 6/3/2008 9:36:00 PM
Finally a cleanser for dry AND sensitive skin. My skin has been on a whirlwind for the past few months, and I ended up with red blotches on my cheeks due to the dryness and sensitivity. This cleanser leaves my skin soft without the tightness. In fact, I don't have to rush afterwards to apply moisturizer which was the norm with other cleansers. I'm already up to my second tube, so I will definitely repurchase.
Lotions/ Creams -Curel - Ultra Healing Daily Moisture Therapy Lotion
lunyc 5/29/2008 3:59:00 PM
I LOVE this lotion! It goes on so smooth and silky, and leaves my dry legs soft and comfortable for the whole day. I love that it absorbs quickly, and doesn't feel sticky. I just found this, so I will have to see how it works in the winter when my skin is very, very dry. But so far, so good! Great find!
Styling Products -Aussie - Aussome Volume Hair Spray
lunyc 5/15/2008 3:52:00 PM
I don't spray this on my hair. Instead, I spray it on my palms, flip my hair over, and rub it on my roots down to my tips. I do this either before I dry or after; either way, it works so that my hair isn't sticky and I have some hold. I would not repurchase only because I will continue to look for a spray that gives me more oomph. But I would recommend others to try this.
Styling Products -Sexy Hair Concepts - Root Pump Plus
lunyc 5/12/2008 5:41:00 PM
After such rave reviews on MUA, I was expecting this product to give my long, fine hair so much volume, but no dice. To get any oomph, I had to first wash with L'Oreal Glossy Volume shampoo, so that my hair could get a head start. I then had to use a lot of the mousse (which I sprayed on my hand and rubbed on my roots and mid areas) before blow drying. I then had to finish with some volumizing hair spray. For a product that costs nearly $20, it should work better and not need so much help! I will stick with L'Oreal Studio Line Upright Spray Mousse, which gives me lasting volume and costs around $4.
