This is a fabulous fragrance! My bf's stepmom sells Avon (I used to sell Avon, so I know they offer quality products at comparitively low prices). She gave me a bottle of this for my b-day a couple of months ago & I love it. It is a light green floral scent that smells very clean and fresh. It reminds me of a scent Avon used to carry called Josie, which I adored. This is a nice replacement. I'd like to get a purse spray for touch-ups though, as it not super long-lasting.
Lip Treatments -Terra Tints - Natural Tinted Lip Balm
luminella 8/3/2002 9:22:00 AM
This is a great product! It is a natural lip balm (made by Un-Petroleum) in a castor/jojoba oil & beeswax base with peppermint oil for scent & tingle. I have this in "Blaze", a very wearable berry-red with subtle shimmer. This is more pimented than say, Smackers Dr. Pepper. It is not super moisturizing, but I didn't find it to be drying either (similar Burt's Bees formula). And only $2 at the health food store? I'm devoted!
This is a wonderful body moisturizer. It is light and quickly absorbed, which is a definate plus in this humid summer weather. The fragrance is barely noticable, but pleasant none-the-less. The scent fades soon after application anyway. My only complaint is that it does not come in a larger size.
Skincare - Face -Thayers - Thayer's Lemon Witch Hazel
luminella 8/3/2002 8:51:00 AM
I picked this up at the natural foods store after reading some positive reviews about Thayer's rose toner. My skin tends to be more oily in the summer, so I chose the lemon formula (which DOES contain alcohol). It is full of beneficial essential oils and smells like (you guessed it!) fresh squeezed lemons. This is a great, natural astringent/toner. I also really like the old fashioned label on the bottle. They also offer rose, peach, & medicated (mentholated). Great find!
I love the packaging of this product (convenient pump dispenser). I use the fragrance free to avoid irritation. This shave lotion has become a shower staple for me, it's gentle and lubricating and works well with my favorite razor (Venus). It also gives me an excuse to go scour my local health food store. I also love their chamomile bar soap and their super intense smelling "peaceful patchouli" body lotion. The scent appeases my inner hippie. Great line!
I've tried many different scrubs, and although I find this to be too harsh for my face, it works wonderfully as a body scrub. I have a huge tub & when I use it on my legs before shaving, I get hardly any razor bumps. It's also great on any rough spots (elbows, knees, feet). It smells great and is super cheap to boot!
I use this mascara in brown/black and it works great! The effect is truly full & soft lashes - wow. I've used high end brands (Lancome), but I prefer this for its performance, price, and accessability. I aternate between this and Avon's wash-off waterproof (a light formula that washes off easily).
This a great loose, translucent powder with a cornstarch base, which helps absorb oil and control shine. I enjoy using this, but not the foundation. B.E. mineral foudations are the wrong color scheme for my skin (#2 is just TOO yellow for me) and for $35 a pop, I'm not not about to buy different colors to custom blend. The packaging of this powder is annoying & potentially messy (you can't just pop it into your purse for touchups - well, you could, but you'd need a separate mirror and brush). All in all I do like this product - it performs well. I use this at home & cover girl on the go.
Pressed Powders -Cover Girl - Fresh Look Pressed Powder ] [DISCONTINUED]

Perhaps my compact is different from some of the other reviewers, as mine has no scent AT ALL. I use this in transluscent light, which works great for me. To any of the oily-faced chicas out there who used pressed powder to eliminate mid-day shine, I would suggest using oil-blotting papers first (clean & clear works well), then just touching up with a light layer of powder. This prevents cakiness (works for me). Oh yeah - I also buy the refill sponges to avoid germs. Let me just say, this cheapie compact has worked better for me than some expensive ones I've tried (Benefit's even out - yuck!). This for on the go and Bare Escentuals mineral veil for A.M. application are my powder picks.
I, too, am a fan of "black honey". It is very sheer and imparts an "I just ate a cherry popsicle" color to the lips. 4 stars because for alot less $ I can pick up Smackers Dr. Pepper lip balm which leaves a more sheer color on my lips (with the added bonus of yummy flavor) or Terratints tinted lip balm in "Blaze" which is more pigmented than Dr. Pepper & also has a bit of shimmer. The sleek silver case this comes in is quite pretty though.
This is a very yummy and unique fragrance. It smells tropical, vanilla, sweet, floral, warm and rich. It's literally a "tasty" smell. I've also used the body shampoo, the exfoliator (it foams!), and the body conditioner. I prefer to use one or the other, as this not a very delicate scent. It's not spicy or strong, just rich and heady. I like to alternate between this and other, lighter scents. B.E. "sea mist" is great for the summer, it smells just like the fresh salty sea, but better!
I really like using using "bisque" as an eyeshadow or base (covers my veiny lids nicely). It also works as an allover concealer, although it does have a slight pink-ish undertone. The trick with any of the mineral makeup is to tap that brush & don't use a heavy hand! I wish the lid was attatched to the container, but overall this is a great product that you'll have for a while.
Gels/Soaps -Dr. Bronner's - Peppermint Castille Soap
luminella 7/31/2002 9:29:00 AM
I really enjoy Dr. Bronner's soaps. I use the peppermint in the summer (leaves behind a refreshing tingle) and the unscented with aloe the rest of the year. If you are into aromatherapy, the unscented is a great base for adding your own essential oils to create a personal scent. Wonderful health food store find!
Lotions/ Creams -Johnson & Johnson - Softlotion - Bedtime Lotion
luminella 7/30/2002 10:41:00 AM
I use this on my son and myself! This stuff smells wonderful... lavendar/chamomile (herbal, yet sweet). They also have powder and baby bath in this scent. This product is very accessible (grocery, drug, & discount stores sell this line) and smells so nice - delicate, not overpowering.
Liquid -Jane - Stay Calm Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
luminella 7/30/2002 10:25:00 AM
I must jump on the bandwagon here ladies! I don't normally wear foundation, (a tad here, a tad there) but this product fits the bill! After moisturizing, I apply "buffy (02)" (light, yellow-based color) to the areas of my face that need it (bumpies, capillaries, dark circles). By blending this oil-free product with my moisturizer I achieve a very natural, sheer look that eliminates my usual ruddiness. I love the sanitary squeeze tube (I use my fingers) and the affordable price. What a find!
