Sunscreen -Unlisted Brand - Invisible Zinc - Tinted Daywear 30+ - ALL SHADES

This is a great Australian Facial sunscreen that needs more love here on makeup alley! A rich moisturisng sunblock with a high sun protection factor (30 plus - the highest they are allowed to go to in australia), it has a slight tint (you can get light or medium) which for me is just enough to tone down the pink in my face. It may appear too rich or greasy at first but give it a few moments and it will settle down and you'll look plump and dewy instead. i used this for years then got swayed by other, cheaper facial sunblocks, but about six weeks ago i went back to invisible zinc, and my skin has never been smoother or plumper, so as well as the obvious sun protection (i never get sunburnt with this) it really does treat your skin to moisture.
Cleansers -Simple - regeneration age resisting facial wash

this is a gentle facial cleanser, a creamy gel style that suds up just enough to make you feel clean and refreshed but not enough to strip your skin. this would be perfect if it came in a pump pack, but the usual squeezy tube is fine. i will also admit that if i wear heavy foundation i need an exfoliating scrub after this. as with all simple skincare products, there is no offensive perfume to this product. it may not be "age resisting" but it's my preferred facial wash at the moment for soft, pampered skin.
Bath Treatments -Dove - body wash triple moisturising

Now THIS is the only body i use. it's cheap, especially when you get the bigger value size (i've had this for four months now and i reckon i've got another month or two before it's all gone), it has great pump packaging - but best of all is the product. rich and thick and craemy like a body lotion, it really does feel like you are moisturising your body under the shower. it has a low suds factor, and a nice old-fashioned soapy-clean smell. my skin does not feel stripped and i can go a day or two without applying body lotion after my shower and my skin still feels soft and cared for. a great supermarket buy.
this is the only body wash i can use now. my skin is not really senstive or allergic, but many washes now are too drying for my skin. this doesn't dry my skin out, but leaves it soft and clean. i will always need to use a body lotion after my showering, but sometimes i can skip a day with this. a little goes a long way; it's a thick, rich creamy product. i like the version that has no scent.
this is my new daily face wash. it's a very gentle scrub -- i don't really think of it as a scrub; sometimes i use another exfoliant afterwards, or i put a dab on my face washer and apply with that for extra rubbigng power. it leaves my skin feeling soft and clean, not tight or dry. it has a fresh scent. this is just a nice everyday cleanser that for me, one that does the job.
hot hot hot! channelling the 80s, almost fluoro but not quite -- just very bright! texture: incredibly creamy, moisturing, feels beautiful. you just want to keep applying it! lasting power: big time! colour: bright, happy, great for summer -- or winter, to cheer up on a dull day -- has a slight blue or cool undertone i think. just fabulous. i'm in love
Lotions/ Creams -Vaseline - Vaseline Intensive Rescue Moisture Locking Lotion

this is a rich lotion full of glycerin and other basic but time-proven goodies to put moisture into your skin and lock it in there! that's what it feels like for me anyway. this is a rich lotion but it spreads and absorbs easily (doesn't leave a greasy residue), especially if (like me) you use it as soon as you dry off after bathing. it also has a soft, pretty fragrance. i've been using it consistently for a fortnight now, and my skin feels and looks healthier, smoother, softer, and less dry -- especially on my legs and my upper arms. it's winter here in australia and hot showers and air conditioning can dry my skin out. but this is helping prevent any problems, i'm sure -- i'll be ready for the spring thaw! i recommend this for a good body moisturiser that really does do what it says it will. it is value for money and i will definitely be buying this from now on.
**pros: nails are touch dry in 30 seconds. fabulous! **cons: nails chipped the next day, went "crazed" with lines thoughout, and shrunk back from the tip almost immiately. it basically made my manicure look old before its time. ** in summary:i have tried this for six manicures now, trying to get it right, and basically the instant drying doesn;t outweigh the multiple ways it ruins a mani. **i'd rather be waving my hands in the air for half an hour and have a manicaure last four or five days, than have it dry instantly but be chipped and shrunken before one day is even out.
Cleansers -Garnier - Clean Sensitive - Anti Tightness Cleansing Milk
lucyboo 4/10/2008 10:43:00 PM
this is new to australia. it is a lotion product. i use it by squirting a bit into my hands then massaging gently all around my face, then gently wiping off with a warm facecloth, using a bit more if necessary around my eyes for eye makeup. it leaves my skin very soft and smooth and not at all tight or dry. nor does it leave my skin feeling like there's a layer of product left behind, as some cream cleansers do. nor -- finally! -- does it leave an oily residue behind as some makeup removers can (you can tell i've had cleanser issues recently, can't you??) it also does not irritate, sting or cloud my eyes. the fact it leaves my skin so soft and clean means that when i jump in the shower, i just exfoliate! this is a lovely, thorough but gentle product thta i will definitely repurchase. (my skin is fairly normal, only a slight t zone, and if anything getting dryer as i age (36)).
after reading caty's review i was really excited about using this. i have tough feet, just from normal activity. i normally use a metal file and an australian brand of foot cream, called eulactol heel balm. but these glycolic acid pads sounded fab, so why not? certainly the gycolic acid was high up ther eon the ingredient listing. first disappoinment was that there were only 21 or so in the tub in australian avon -- not 65! second they just did not work. my feet felt normal, perhaps even a little dryer. i even used it on my elbows, knees and even my face to find some are of my body that would be affected -- nothing. only my fingernail cuticles started peeling and getting irritated from handling it. i was really disappointed, and iwill stick to my eulactol heel balm.
i fell in love with MAC's fafi fashion frenzy blush, but the price ($AUS40) was out of my budget. then i found this at almost half the price ($AUS22)! it's a bright pink that sits well on my colouring (i am brunette with dark eyes and light skin). it looks like the healthy flush i get from exercise, so i think it makes me look young and fresh! the secret is not to put too much on -- being so lolly bright it can look clownish. but it's so pretty and a refreshing change from my neutral pinky-browns i tend to wear (instant makeover!!). it's matte, too, which is nice, an i have found it wears well during the day.
my new base eyeshadow colour. i have very dark brown eyes, brunette hair and light skin. i had been using naked lunch as a base colour but wondered if, as i get older, the shimmer is too much. so the MAC assistent recommended this. it's not too contrasty against my skin but efinitely makes my eyes look polished and bright. i use the naked lunch as a brow highlight now rather than an allover wash. it's not a wow or look at me -- just a good workhorse basic.
i have been loyal to maybelline full n soft for years, but you know, i felt like a change... so i checked out some reviews here and edcided to give this a whirl. and i'm so pleased i did! it's cheaper than the full n soft, and the formula is rich and smooth and thick. goes on well, doesn;t falke or smudge. the curved brush is a newie for me, as i've only used trad shaped ones before, but i'm used to it now. it's big and rich and black and -- well, super! this will definitely replace my full and soft.
Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Stylist Mascara ] [DISCONTINUED]
lucyboo 3/11/2008 8:16:00 PM
i won this in a giveaway, which was great because i would never try this kind of mascara brush -- or comb -- ordinarily. i usually use brushes for a thick lush look. so when i saw the actual wand i thought, hmmm, this isn't going to work, it's going to be feeble and prissy and nothing. but i take it all back! it's a great look, and the comb means i have no clumps, the lashes are seperated beautifully, and it gets right down into the base of the lashes. the formula goes on smoothly and easily. it doesn't thicken the lashes but really makes them look beautiful and defined nonetheless. i would choose a blacker black next time (soft black is a nice but i prefer really black lashes). so it was nice to win something that i wouldn't normally choose and now will!
a fabulous, rich "elizabeth taylor" purple : a royal purple. creamy smooth, beautiful texture for smooth eyelining. i love this rich purple against my very dark brown eyes and brunette hair and ligh skin. it's perfect with a deep hot fuchsia lipstick and loads of black mascara.
