the reviewer below says it all (great review btw!). it does feel very silicone-y, is SUPER liquid-y. i have tried to dot it on my face and it just drips all over the place so i squirt it into my hand, pat into 2 hands and apply all over. leaves a matte finish (like a primer) at first but then i get that nasty, oily collection around the sides of my nose/nostrils. so i have to wipe it off, no bueno, & i can just feel the oil slick combo! so nasty. i think its very good that its light but i dont think its fabulous so i am not sure if i would repurchase. its very cheap, $9.99 and i got 20% off with an ulta coupon so the price is awesome for the amount. i purchased the spf 30 and went to the fair yesterday, for 5 hours. my face did not burn at all so that was great. i dont see any new breakouts so thats awesome too since i have very oily, acne prone skin. doesnt leave a white cast.
sadly this was another down the drain mascara choice. very clumpy. i give it 2 stars for being very black and it had a nice perfumed scent to it (i have a super sensitive nose and can smell all the chemicals wafting off every mascara). my lashes are thicker yes, but clumpy thicker and the formula is dry. not worth the money. beautiful packaging though!
Lips -Yves Saint Laurent - Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain 7 Corail Aquatique
ltgee 6/4/2013 6:27:00 PM
i would purchase this formula again but not this color. it did not even show up on my pigmented lips, too light it just disappeared. i tried the corail fauve #12 and that gave me a natural, rosy "everyday mlbb" look. i have NC42, tanned yellow toned southeast asian skin. at this price point i want a lot of color! fantastic formula though, goes on smooth and stays on through food/drink. some did come off in the inner lip but not a big deal. its glossy but not overly so and tacky, but again, not overly so. great lipstick! will look into the deeper & brighter colors.
Lip Gloss -Yves Saint Laurent - Rouge Pur Couture #12 "Corail Fauve"
ltgee 6/4/2013 6:20:00 PM
on my pigmented lips one swipe of this gives me a more rosy lip. i was hoping for more of a "brighter coral, peachy/pink" than rose. its a wonderful formula, goes on smooth and stays PUT through eating and drinking. i did lose some from the inner lip but its not a big deal. most of it was intact. its slightly tacky but not in a too gooey way. fantastic for girls who's lips are more pale, you can really bring out the coral color. i have too many rose lippies so i wont be repurchasing. until then, i will just blank out my lips with foundation to get the color i want out of this. would make a great, everyday office color for me (i am NC42, tan yellow toned southeast asian skin) but at this price point, i want something with more of a POP for a night out.
received a sample from sephora and i must say, i am pleasantly surprised. lately nothing has been smelling good with my body chemistry. is it because i am getting older? my pH is changing? i have no idea. but everything gives me a crazy headache. every perfume that i think "omgosh, this smells wonderful" gives me a headache so bad i get nauseous! i rubbed the sample on both wrists and have been enjoying this musky, apple/honey fragrance all day. i prayed it would be more than just "apple & honey", and it is! i dont want to spend big bucks on just apple and honey, i need more complexity & this definitely delivers. i am buying the full bottle now. i am 37 btw and i dont think this is just a fragrance for younger women, anybody can wear this and it would be appropriate. its more than just sparkling, its warm and musky too. im not good with notes but it smells fantastic to me and my co workers think so too :) this would work for winter as well, very lovely light, warm scent. doesn't scream sexy but more like, comforting.
Lip Treatments -Mary Kay - Satin Lips mask and balm
ltgee 5/31/2013 4:15:00 PM
loved the exoliating mask, was not impressed with the balm. you can get this elsewhere for much less. $9.50 a tube is quite pricey. yes, it melts right into your lips & does soften but so does my tube of aquaphor.
Lip Treatments -Mary Kay - Satin Lips - Lip Mask only
ltgee 5/31/2013 4:12:00 PM
$9.50 is a bit pricey for lip scrub. this reminded me of the stick scrub from the body shop. cheaper option, same results. i do like this though, its in a cream-like formula and the grain is finer. made my lips and the surrounding area SO smooth. you apply, scrub and leave on for a few minutes. it dries up like a mask and then you wipe it off. i am sure there are cheaper options out there so not sure if i would repurchase. if you already have a scrub for your face, you won't need this. i like to use gel cleansers with acids in it so i like having this as an option to get the dead skin off.
Cleansers -Mary Kay - Timewise 3-in-1 Cleanser and Moisturizer
ltgee 5/31/2013 2:30:00 PM
really great cleanser and moisturizer. i have the one for oily skin. its a gel cleanser and foams up quite nice. rinses clean. the moisturizer is very light and is a bit sticky afterwards but i really feel like its getting into my skin and not just sitting on top. no fragrance, recommend for sensitive skin types.
Makeup Brushes -Mary Kay - Mineral Foundation brush
ltgee 5/31/2013 2:27:00 PM
really great powder foundation brush. bristles are soft and handle is the perfect length. kind of in between a regular sized foundation brush and a kabuki brush! i use a tap and swirl method with the powder.
i really love the texture, that its matte and gives medium coverage but unfortunately there wasnt a shade YELLOW enough for my skin. i was "matched" to beige 1 and i am NC42 in Mac/Barcelona or Stromboli in Nars/Golden Neutral in BB. all the shades in the medium and dark categories are straight up a flat brown. returned. if they had more golden shades this would be a keeper, much better than BE hands down.
Eyeliner -Milani - Liquid Eye Liquid-Like Eye Liner Pencil in Black 01
ltgee 5/30/2013 5:48:00 PM
returned. 1 lippie for being pigmented & creamy but it is SMUDGE city! i only wear liner on top and this was alllll over the bottom within a couple of hours, panda eyes at work! its propel only, no sharpening required and claims all day wear. yes, its on all day but all over your face! $8.49 at CVS.
Lipstick -Sonia Kashuk - Satin Luxe Lip Color SPF16-Sunkissed
ltgee 5/20/2013 4:19:00 PM
i am so surprised at how much i really love this lipstick from sonia kashuk! i never buy anything from her brand and decided to try one on a whim. i picked Sunkissed because it looked like a great, bright coral for summer. its gorgeous! its the perfect pop of color peachy pink and but its not so bright you cant wear it during the day. the formula, ohhh, the formula is awesome! its smooth and SO pigmented! opaque! beautiful packaging. i will be trying out her other colors. good job sonia k.! $9.99 at target.
Moisturizers -Fresh - Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream With Super 7 Complex
ltgee 5/20/2013 4:07:00 PM
i really wanted to like this because i just love the texture (a very light & fluffy cream), ingredients are natural, it absorbs fast, doesn't leave my face looking oily and smells like fresh cucumbers! unfortunately it STUNG upon application. the stinging dissipated after several minutes but face lotions/creams should not sting imo, but should rather have soothing effects. i have very oily, tough skin and i don't use retinol anymore so there's no reason for this to have stung so badly. so im giving it 3 stars, because for the most part, it has more good things than bad. sadly it didnt work for me so returned.
i received a sample from sephora and i really liked it! it was more of a "dry" oil so you definitely need more than the "2-3 drops" as recommended on the package. I basically used half the sample for my entire face. i have oily combo skin (oily t zone and drier cheeks) and this really took off all my eye makeup (gel liner and mascara) and my foundation. i used it on DRY skin (as i was rubbing the oil onto my eyes, i kept checking and the eye makeup was disappearing! no "fuzzy" eyes either), then hopped in the shower and added a little bit of water. it really didn't turn into a "light milk", but it DID rinse off very clean! i followed up with my philosophy purity gel cleanser (im paranoid like that because im very acne prone), checked my face after and it was very soft to the touch. i wiped it with a clean white towel and nothing came off-good stuff! not sure if i would purchase just yet because i am still sampling other brands.
Bronzers -Guerlain - Terracotta Light Sheer Bronzing Powder- Sun Brunettes 05
ltgee 5/13/2013 5:53:00 PM
ok seriously, this is only my 2nd Guerlain product (1st was a lippie) and i LOVEEEE it. whyyyyyy! the price kills me ($51.00 for 0.35oz) but i can see how its so much better than so many other bands! its SO buttery, so finely milled, very pigmented, glides on like nothing and imparts the most beautiful, sunny GLOW on my cheeks (i use it as a blush, not bronzer all over). its so natural on my NC42, southeast asian yellow toned skin. gives me the right amount of sun kissed flush. says it has deep bronze pink and brown tones but IMO, its more peach & brown tones. it doesn't have glitter, just imparts a soft sheen. im HOOKED i tell you, hooked! i have abandoned my other peachy blushes for this bronzer for the past 2 weeks, cant get enough.
