Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion

This is one of those products that just got hyped to the max in the 80's. I think a lot of us ran out and purchased it along with Great Lash mascara and thought we would look like the models in the magazines! LOL! I can't find anything good to say about this really. I used an entire bottle and moved on to Clarins immediately afterwards. The difference was chalk and cheese. There was no difference to my skin at all using the Clinique DDML and if anything, it was a bit irritated. Once I changed to Clarins, I realised what good moisturiser could do! Don't waste your money!

Cleansers -Garnier - Clean Sensitive Moisture Infusion Cleansing Water
rated 4 of 5

If you want to remove colourstay lipstick or makeup, then this is the product for you! I am also amazed that this is not higher rated! Generally I stick to my Gatineau Melatogenine Foaming Cleanser, but if I want a thorough yet gentle skin clean every now and again, I will use this. I also use it if I have been using heavy eye makeup and need to really get it all off! Fabulous for sensitive skin as it is just so gentle. You can really see the makeup coming off if you use the white makeup removal pads with this product. I initially saw it on YouTube on a tutorial and thought I'd give it a go as it is so cheap. I am extremely fussy about what I will use around my eye area and this is 100% OK. I have just used up an entire bottle of this and need to get another one because it is the only product that properly removes my budge-proof lipstick!

Liquid -Maybelline - SuperStay Makeup - New Version
rated 4 of 5

Please ignore the people who say that this foundation goes orange after a few hours because it doesn't. They must have chosen the wrong shade for their skin tone. This foundation took me by surprise. There was a sample sachet in a magazine I purchased recently and I thought I might as well give it a go. The shade supplied was slightly darker than I would normally purchase, so I was really expecting a bad result. I also do not like foundations that are hard to remove like Revlon Colourstay, etc.. as I prefer a more natural look. Expecting to have to work quite quickly, I applied it in small patches and worked my way around my face. I could probably have just used my fingers to blend this, which was a surprise in itself, but I did use a cellulose sponge to finish it off. I found it a dream to work with and despite being a shade off what I normally would use, this looked really good! The finish on my combination skin was satiny and the coverage was medium. It covered any flaws, which in my case, is a bit of cheek redness. My concealer even blended well over this. Now I am confused as I have found my HG foundation in TheBalm and this foundation has me wanting more. Perhaps I will use TheBalm in summer when I need the SPF in our hot aussie sun and I can use SuperStay in winter. Now I just have to experiment with the two lightest shades to find my best match!

Treatments (Eye) -Clarins - Eye Contour Baume
rated 5 of 5
lovespugs 6/19/2011 7:00:00 PM

I am really surprised that this isn't more highly rated. I haven't used anything other than this eye balm for years. It is just incredible! I went through a period where I tried so many "miracle" eye creams that just didn't deliver. I purchased this one thinking it was going to be another expensive waste of time. It wasn't. I like the fact that I don't get that feeling of my eyes sticking together in the morning when I wake up. It doesn't irritate at all and it actually delivers a fresher, moisturised eye area. I am extremely fussy when it comes to eye creams. This one is my HG.

Conditioner -L'Oreal - Elvive conditioner for coloured or highlighted hair
rated 4 of 5
lovespugs 6/19/2011 6:53:00 PM

Love Elvive. I have been using this for years! I tried Terax for a while, but realised that I get the same result at a fraction of the price using Elvive. My hair is blonde with caramel highlights and has been tortured over the years. Elvive keeps it looking decent. I use the shampoo and conditioner. Can't see myself changing because I haven't found anything that does a comparable job!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Fusion

Minus 1 lippy for the brush - horrible fat stubby thing it is! How are you meant to get the inner corner lashes with that thing????? Now for the good stuff. This mascara delivers! Great colour, thickness, length. When CG gets their mascaras right, they really get it right! Love this mascara. It stays on all day and doesn't budge. I would buy a CG mascara over any other brand as long as it is one of their decent ones. This is one of their decent ones. Great product!

Hair Removal -Nair - Hair Removal-Face-Sensitive Formula
rated 5 of 5
lovespugs 6/19/2011 6:44:00 PM

This is the only product I trust anywhere near my face. I have been using it for years! The trick is to apply it to damp skin and only leave it on for 4 minutes. I also apply a layer of vaseline around my lips so that the product cannot penetrate the delicate skin on the lips. I used to have my own waxing and spray tanning business. I get every part of my body waxed, but my face was too sensitive to tolerate waxing. This is why I use hair removal cream on my face. Innoxa On and Off was a firm favourite until it was discontinued. I tried many formulas that were horrible and harsh until I found this one. Be careful what you buy. I make sure to buy the one labelled "sensitive" and it contains sweet almond oil. The packaging says that you should not leave it on past 10 minutes. I recommend that you do not leave it on longer than 5 minutes.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Maybelline-Expert Wear Eyeshadow Charcoal Smokes
rated 4 of 5

I agree that the pigmentation is not very strong. This is surprising considering how strong the colours look in the pan, particularly the darkest colour. This doesn't mean that the colours aren't good. I use the brow (lightest) colour all over my lids as a base right up to the brow bone. If you apply it lightly, it does a beautiful job. If you were to apply it heavily, it will look way too dark and glittery. I am talking from the point of view of a pale skinned blonde. Then I use the crease colour for the outer corner as well as the crease. If I was going to use it for nightime application, I would use the darkest colour for the outer corner. These colours are true greys which I like very much and they accentuate my blue eyes. They work really nicely with a pale lip colour. I would definitely repurchase.

Skincare - Body -Sally Hansen - Airbrush Legs in Light Glow

Hate the fact that the nozzle always jams and it is a pain in the arse to spray! Minus one lippy for that! The colour and the product is amazing! Legs look gorgeous! Wish I had discovered it sooner!

Lipstick -Cover Girl - Outlast Lip Color in Pink Pearl
rated 4 of 5
lovespugs 6/19/2011 5:30:00 AM

I am surprised that someone posted that the colour is strong. The opposite is true. This is a pastel pink and very, very pretty. I am also surprised that people have said that it flakes off. If your lips are in good condition, this lipstick has excellent staying power and I have found that it does not flake at all. I always make sure to wipe my lips with a dry face washer (flannel) prior to applying. I wait at least two minutes until it is completely dry before applying the gloss stick. If you can see any of the lipstick on the gloss stick, then you have not waited long enough! It has to be thoroughly dry! I usually re-apply the gloss stick twice during the day and that is enough to keep it look fabulous!

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Line Stiletto liquid eyeliner
rated 4 of 5
lovespugs 6/19/2011 5:22:00 AM

I was using a Loreal liquid eyeliner prior to purchasing this and I would not change because I could not find a comparable product until I came across this little gem! I purchased it in "black" and it produces a true black line that is as fine or as thick as you want to make it. The tip is so easy to handle because it has some flex in it, unlike similar looking products that are stiff and hard to use. The colour lasts all day which is essential in the harsh Australian sun. The price ranges anywhere from about $15 - $18 (Aus), so it's cheap enough! This is the only liquid eyeliner I use at the moment.

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Nivea Soft Moisturizing Creme
rated 5 of 5
lovespugs 6/19/2011 3:04:00 AM

Like the previous post, I also use high end skincare. Having said that, there is no moisturiser that I have purchased that can come even remotely close to this! I use this after Gatineau Melatogenine Foaming Cleanser every night and I also use Clarins Eye Balm. In the morning I apply Nivea Soft to my face before applying my makeup. A little known fact about Nivea is that doctors recommend this line because it is known to be so gentle on the skin. I love it because I can use it everywhere on my body and it is just such a superior product. It is also dirt cheap! People tend to get a bit snobby about Nivea because of the price, but I can guarantee that you will not get a better moisturiser than this regardless of what you pay!

Concealers -TheBalm - Time Balm
rated 5 of 5
lovespugs 6/19/2011 2:58:00 AM

I purchased this in "lighter than light". What a magnificent job this concealer does! I have tried so many concealers and they have ranged from terrible to OK. I have been looking for a concealer that will moisturise and also brighten the undereye area a little. I do not have heavy duty concealing to be done, but I do not want fine lines accentuated. This concealer genuinely delivers what it promises which is to be a moisturising concealer. My under eye area looks bright and fresh. The texture is paste-like in the container, but goes on very smoothly and is so easy to work with. For the under eye area, I apply it with my fingers and them blend it with a slightly damp sea sponge. If I am using it on other areas of my face (which thankfully is rarely), I will apply with my fingers and then dab and blend until I get the result I want. I use this in conjunction with Balm Shelter Tinted Moisturiser and for now, I have my HG foundation and concealer!

Tinted Moisturizer -TheBalm - BalmShelter Tinted Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
lovespugs 6/19/2011 1:18:00 AM

This is more like a foundation than a tinted moisturiser. The coverage is medium and buildable. It definitely moisturises and it definitely works as a sunscreen. This is my HG foundation now. I cannot see myself using another foundation after finding this gem of a product. Hard to get in Australia, but easy enough to find on the Internet and probably cheaper than Australian retail anyway. Love this!

Crème -Unlisted Brand - Natural Glamour Creme Foundation
rated 5 of 5
lovespugs 6/17/2011 8:41:00 PM

This is a quality product. I do not use the sponge that comes with the product as it is quite small and I do not like cellulose sponges. Instead, I apply it with a slightly damp sea sponge. They say that you get a sheer finish when you apply it with a damp sponge, but I find the coverage to be a little heavier than that, but still dewy. I love the fact that the finish looks natural and not cakey. My pet hate with foundation is an unnatural look when you go out into direct sunlight and you do not get that with this foundation. It also has a high SPF which is fantastic. The consistency allows you to use this as a concealer and they actually recommend it can be used this way. I was highly skeptical as most foundations do not double up well as a concealer, but this one definitely does. It is a cream foundation - very emollient, so it doesn't dry out your skin. The lightest shade was perfect for me.
