Treatments -Olay - Regenerist Filling + Sealing Wrinkle Treatment
lotusblossom2 6/25/2008 6:27:00 PM
I am quite impressed with this product! I used it only on one side of my face before foundation but after moisturizer, to see if it really does what they claim it does. I applied in the eye area, on the forehead, and especially around my "marionette lines," which are what bother me most. I spent the day shopping with my mom, so there were lots of opportunities to check a mirror - lo and behold, on the side I applied, my lines are much less noticeable! Even my mom could see the difference. I will update after I've used a few more times, I am a little worried that it will clog pores but time will tell. *Update* It does clog my pores a bit - nothing too bad but if I use it daily I see little tiny bumps. I use it 4 times a week or so w/ no problems, though.

Brows -Smashbox - Brow tech
lotusblossom2 3/24/2008 12:53:00 AM
It has been hard for me to find a brow product that isn't too pencil-y looking and doesn't turn orangey. I have light brown eyebrows (very thin, def need beefing up) and I use Taupe. I love this brow powder b/c the color blends perfectly but I can also "add" a little to my brows with it, and make them look thicker. I use the Smashbox angled brow brush with it. I don't use much of the wax, just a little to set it. I find that this is very buildable, too, after you get the hang of how much to put on the brush :) One pot has lasted me over a year!!

Lotions/ Creams -L'Occitane - Rose Velvet Hand Cream
lotusblossom2 3/24/2008 12:17:00 AM
I love this hand cream. Smells extremely rose-y. Very moisturizing, absorbs quickly. The only hand cream I like more is the Lavender one by L'Occitane, and that is strictly b/c I favor lavender's scent to rose's :)

Lotions/ Creams -L'Occitane - Lavender Hand Cream
lotusblossom2 3/24/2008 12:14:00 AM
I LOVE this hand cream! I live in a very dry climate, and have to use hand cream multiple times during the day in the winter to keep skin from cracking. I have been using L'Occitane's lavender hand cream every night lately and I love the scent, the consistency, and how quick it is to absorb. Expensive, but much better than any hand cream I've tried to date.

Liquid -Clinique - Superfit Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
lotusblossom2 3/23/2008 11:59:00 PM
I like Superfit a lot. I have combo-to-oily skin and this foundation does a great job of providing good coverage, looking natural, and not oxidizing. My two qualms: the color. I am too warm for Petal and not quite dark enough for Cremewhip, so while I like the consistency, the colors never perfectly match me. I also notice that this foundation tends to fade, so if I were the type to reapply once throughout the day, it would be necessary. As it is, though, I don't have time to reapply, so this is a 3 lippie foundation for me. I have yet to find my dream foundation!

Liquid -Clinique - Supermoisture Makeup
lotusblossom2 3/23/2008 11:55:00 PM
Since I have combo (in the winter) to oily (in the summer) skin, I am surprised by how much I love this foundation! I find it works best when I use a wet Beautyblender sponge, otherwise it goes on too thick. It is a bit shimmery, but for this non-lover of shimmer on my face, it is only a little bit. (I notice the shimmer much more on my hand than when I'm actually applying on my face). It is blendable, matches my skin tone, covers my flaws (without being an opague mask), and best of all, gives me that DEWY look I love and have had such a hard time achieving! I do have to blot once or twice throughout the day, but this is pretty standard for me. Will definitely repurchase, but only in the cooler months. Too thick for warm months - I get VERY shiny.

Lipstick -MAC - Utterly Frivolous
lotusblossom2 3/15/2008 12:18:00 PM
Ick. Very bright, frosty pink on my fair, warm skin. The quintessential "Barbie Pink" in my mind - very Paris Hilton, very not me.

Concealers -Bobbi Brown - Eye Brightener [DISCONTINUED]
lotusblossom2 12/2/2007 1:56:00 AM
I love Eye Brightener! It is kind of a concealer disguised as an eye cream - as someone already said, it is a light, liquid concealer, with a (VERY) subtle shimmer and a moisturizing feel. It makes my eyes pop, so much so that I can't imagine how tired I must have looked before discovering it! While a tube would be more sanitary, I actually like the jar. The formula is so liquidy, I feel like the jar makes it easier to get the product out (?). If I were to change the packaging at all, I'd just make the jar half it's size. It is so big that even when I am being super careful to take out only a little, I sometimes accidentally take too much out. If you use too much, it can crease a little. One lippie off because this just doesn't conceal enough for me on those tired or allergy-ish days.

Cleansers -Purpose - Gentle Cleansing Wash
lotusblossom2 12/2/2007 1:47:00 AM
My dermatologist recommended this cleanser to me when I was in high school, and I keep going back. I have oily to combo (depending on the season) skin, and this cleanser makes my skin feel truly clean without feeling stripped. I have tried all the cleansers that are supposedly the same formula but cheaper (Clean & Clear, etc) but nothing works for me as well as Purpose does. It doesn't do anything fancy, but it is hard to find a cleanser that really cleans! It does leave my face feeling tight afterwards, but that is what moisturizer is for, after all. This cleanser is probably an HG but for some reason I find myself continually looking for something more in a cleanser, so I stray for a bit... but always seem to find my way back to Purpose.

Bronzers -Dr. Hauschka - Bronzing Powder
lotusblossom2 12/2/2007 1:42:00 AM
I received a full compact of this bronzer as an extra in a swap. I love it! I have had such a hard time finding a bronzer that isn't sparkly or orange. This one isn't either. It's very subtle, which makes it buildable and highly blendable. It also smells like cinnamon, which is different and fun when applying. I can't imagine I will run out for a very long while, but when I do, I will hunt it down and buy it for myself. Be lighthanded - a little goes a LONG way!

Mascara -Rimmel - Magnif'Eyes Eye Magnifier Eye Opening
lotusblossom2 10/14/2007 1:11:00 AM
I bought this mascara b/c Rimmel was BOGO. This mascara dries out my lashes, does not hold curl, definitely does not thicken, and barely lengthens. It also smears like a mother... will not purchase it again, and will probably throw the tube I have away.

Lipstick -Cover Girl - TruShine- Fire 430
lotusblossom2 8/13/2007 4:14:00 PM
I was afraid of this lipstick in the tube because it looked so bright, but I love Petal Shine so much I decided to take the chance. I have warm toned fair skin and like my reds to stay on the orange side of things and not the blue. Fire Shine does that. It's a coral-y red. Very shiny and lasts longer than most drugstore lippies. Lipstick -Cover Girl - Trushine Lipstick - Petal Shine 425
lotusblossom2 8/13/2007 4:12:00 PM
This is the closest d/s l/s I have found that rivals my favorite, Vincent Longo Baby Balms. It goes on so silky and shiny. Petal Shine is basically nude w/ a slight pink. Gorgeous! Will def buy again :) **update: at some point, the lipstick fell apart and is now a gooey mess :( am taking off one lippie**

Lipstick -Vincent Longo - Baby Balm Lipstick
lotusblossom2 8/13/2007 4:09:00 PM
I am in love with these lipsticks! Yes, they are expensive, but I somehow collected every shade, so apparently I'm willing to spend the money. I am a fan of YLBB shades, which I find all of these to be. They go on so silky and smooth, and the fact that they have SPF in them is crucial for me, as I live in a high altitude (sunny and dry) climate. My favorites are Tawny Mauve and La Dulceta, followed closely by Fawn Nestle. I rated packaging a 4 because they feel a bit "loose" in the containers, and I've had bad luck with other VL lipsticks in the past, but so far, no casualties. This is an HG product for me. It will be for you too if you are into sheer, silky lipsticks, but if it's drama you want, look elsewhere.

Cleansers -Olay - Sensitive Skin Foaming Face Wash
lotusblossom2 8/13/2007 4:03:00 PM
I got this cleanser because it's only $4 at Target and it listed aloe in the ingredients (my skin loves aloe). I generally use Purpose - I like my cleansers to remove make up with out stripping my skin or clogging my pores. This one is decent, but I found that after using it for a week or two, my skin felt too tight and dry. I think I will go back to Purpose.
