Cleansers -Simple - Kind to Skin Refreshing Wash Gel
lookabbycat 4/15/2011 12:27:00 AM
Just a simple basic cleanser with no frills. There is no fragrance to it and says it would suit sensitive skin. It says on the bottle that it isn't meant to take off eye makeup and in my experience it takes off eye make up well enough except when it comes to waterproof mascara (which is expected). It cleans well and doesn't dry out my skin. I'm trying to cut down on the products I use and stick with the basics and this cleanser fits the bill. I'll probably repurchase when I'm done.

Masks -Korres - Yogurt Velvety Moisturizing Mask [DISCONTINUED]
lookabbycat 3/26/2011 3:30:00 PM
I've recently discovered how great this mask is! I've used this mask together with the yogurt cream and was never impressed until now. The way I use this mask is like this: I put on a thin layer of this mask and leave it on until it dries completely and then wash off with luke warm water. Afterwards I use a moisturizer. When I wake up the next morning my face isn't a greasy mess as it typically is, instead my skin is matte and soft. Did I mention how soft your skin will feel after this mask??? For people who are grossed out by having to dip into jars: I scoop the mask out with cotton swabs.

Loose Powders -MAC - Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder
lookabbycat 1/7/2011 1:55:00 PM
This is a fabulous setting powder. I use it over my tinted moisturizer and sometimes over regular moisturizer. It makes my pores look less noticeable from a distance, skin appear and feel softer, decreases shine, and photographs well. I still need to blot once a day since I have very oily skin but I definitely look less shiny throughout the day with this on. Ive also reapplied this powder instead of blotting and it doesnt cake up. Another thing, definitely tape up some of the holes so you dispense less powder at a time!

Fragrances -Chanel - Chance Eau Tendre
lookabbycat 12/14/2010 12:37:00 AM
I'm a big fan of the Chance fragrance line with Eau Fraiche being my favorite. Eau Tendre has a youthful, clean scent. At first spritz, I thought that it smelled a little too sweet and generic (you just expect a little more from Chanel). Given a few moments Eau Tendre starts to settle and it smells more fresh and clean with sweet floral notes. I find the scent to be very youthful and girly. Needless to say it eventually won me over and I purchased it.

Tinted Moisturizer -Laura Mercier - Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20
lookabbycat 12/14/2010 12:30:00 AM
Finally got around to trying this TM. I have it in Nude and it matches my skin tone perfectly. I thought that it would be a disaster because of my oily skin but I wanted to try it anyway. Surprisingly my skin was not a disgusting greasy mess like I thought it would be. Sure, I needed to blot once or twice throughout the day but that's the usual for me with any make up routine. This TM didn't oxidize, change color, or slide off during the day. It's very sheer and ideal for someone who wants to even out their skin tone for a natural look. Don't look to hide any blemishes, acne scars, dark circles etc. I wanted the TM to even out my skin tone and hide some pores/blackheads which it did. Edit- Added lippie. After a few weeks of use I've come to love this TM. It photographs so well and gives me the coverage I need. Would repurchase!

Treatments -Peter Thomas Roth - Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads
lookabbycat 12/3/2010 6:59:00 PM
My skin issues: oily skin, large pores, black heads, beginning to have fine wrinkles. I have resilient, non-acne prone skin and rarely ever have adverse reactions to products. I wanted to try the peel pads for all of the issues above and to see if it would lighten my freckles. update - Added a lippie. I've been using these peel pads for 6 wks on and off & I've noticed that my skin is overall more even, freckles seem lighter, and pores smaller. I've pretty much stopped wearing foundation and only a tinted moisturizer. The reason why I gave 4 lippies instead of 5 is because my blackheads are still present and I'm really not sure if my skin is more even because of the peels or because it's the dead of winter and I'm just getting pale. I've also noticed that my skin seems less oily but then again it probably has a lot to do with the cold weather. I'd like to try stronger peels when I'm finished with this but in a pinch I would definitely buy these peel pads again.

Sunscreen -Shiseido - Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion For Face & Body, spf 60 PA+++
lookabbycat 7/28/2010 1:05:00 AM
After reading all these terrible reviews of how the new SPF 60 formula doesn't hold a candle to the old SPF 55 formula, I was really expecting the worse when I tried this sunscreen. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I like it. I can't compare with the old formula but I found that the sunscreen absorbed quite quickly into my skin and left it matte. It didn't feel sticky at all. The sunscreen alone kept me looking matte all day long and I didn't need to touch up my make up or blot once. I usually need to blot several times a day even if I use a matte primer. Btw, the weather here is very hot and humid. I'm glad I bought this and would definitely repurchase. I have oily skin and with this sunscreen I don't need to put on moisturizer. The sunscreen is thin and liquidy so a little goes a long way. Since I only use this for my face and neck, I'm sure one bottle will last me a long time. One thing I would say is that this sunscreen is pretty difficult to remove. I would advise others to be very diligent when washing the sunscreen off. It might be why it's causing so many people to break out. edit-- so it's been 3 weeks since I've started using this and I have noticed that if I have to keep up with a very strict cleansing/exfoliating routine otherwise my skin starts to act up. I'm not acne prone but I have noticed some clogged pores and a few pimples cropping up once I got a little lazy. Even still because it keeps my skin so matte I will continue to use it & still think it deserves 5 stars.

Sunscreen -Shiseido - Gentle Sun Protection Lotion for Sensitive skin and Babies
lookabbycat 7/25/2010 9:48:00 PM
My mom got me this sunscreen by accident, I actually wanted the Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion instead. I don't have sensitive skin so I can't say whether it works well for that purpose. As a sunscreen, I think it works fine. Application is easy and quick. I'm very careful with removing sunscreen with make up remover so I haven't had any clogged pores or bad reactions. I have oily skin so I probably wouldn't purchase this sunscreen again as it does leave the skin with a slightly oily film. It never feels like it's "sunk in" all the way. With that said, I'm going to purchase the Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion to use for the remainder of the summer and would probably use this gentle version during the winter time when I'm slightly more dry.

Scrubs -Sabon - Body Scrub
lookabbycat 2/10/2010 12:50:00 AM
I love this sea salt body scrub! I have it in Patchouli Lavender Vanilla and the scent is lovely, though not very strong. After using this scrub I feel like I've just stepped out from a spa. The scrub is perfect and the salt is not too coarse. Your skin will feel incredibly soft and the oils afterwards help moisturize the skin. It is pricey at $30 a jar but it's worth every penny. I honestly want to use this scrub everyday and have to restrain myself from doing so.

Lotions/ Creams -Sabon - Vanilla Coconut Butter Cream
lookabbycat 2/10/2010 12:41:00 AM
The Vanilla Coconut butter cream is a body cream made with shea butter oil. The butter cream goes on lightly and absorbs into the skin quickly. I find the scent to be more coconut than vanilla and I don't really notice the scent after putting it on. It's very pricey at $26 for a 7.1oz jar, however, a little goes a long way with the butter cream. The butter cream is a little too light for me and my skin doesn't feel very moisturized even with it on. With that being said, I probably won't repurchase after I finish due to the price and the performance. I think I could find a better body lotion for much less.

Primer/ Corrector -Sephora - Smoothing & Mattifying
lookabbycat 12/9/2009 11:38:00 AM
I got samples of these from Sephora and this didn't do much for me. The primer is clear and feels like an oil going on. Upon application, everything looks great but it doesn't hold up at all. Within 2 hours my nose was getting shiny. On top of that my pores appeared larger. I definitely won't be purchasing the full size. It's probably better that this didn't work out anyway because there's tons of parabens in this primer.

Highlighters -Sephora - LIGHT TOUCH
lookabbycat 12/6/2009 10:57:00 AM
I use the light touch highlighter as a color corrector for my under eye circles. I have it in yellow 02 and it's pretty much an exact color dupe of Benefit's Lemon-aid (I swatched both on my hand in-store). With that being said, it works well as a color corrector and really brightens up my under eye area. It doesn't conceal and it wasn't meant to be used as a concealer, but rather a highlighter. For days where I want more coverage, I just put concealer over it. I love the idea of a pen applicator but the packaging just sucks. The first time I used it, I had to twist the end of the pen so many times before anything came out. For a while I was thinking I had a defective pen! It looks cheap and is cheap. After a day of being in my make up bag, the lettering smeared off the pen. Even though the light touch works the way I wanted it to, I probably won't be repurchasing. Next time I'm just going to go for Benefit's Lemon-aid since I get so much more product for the price. The only reason why I would ever get light touch again would be for the convenience of carrying just the pen instead of a circular case.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
lookabbycat 12/6/2009 10:08:00 AM
I love CG Lash Blast! It has become my HG mascara. It stays on for forever until you wash it off. Surprisingly, it's very easy to wash off despite its staying power. I've slept in it and it didn't even smudge and I have oily skin! Since I already have long lashes, what I really look for in mascara is volume. Lash Blast is wonderful. It makes my eyelashes look like false lashes after 3 coats. I've already stocked up on more LB in very black and black brown.

Treatments (Eye) -Unlisted Brand - Vita-K - Solution for Dark Circles Under Eyes
lookabbycat 10/12/2009 7:23:00 PM
I have hereditary dark circles that nothing will get rid of. Vita K didn't work for me either. It didn't get rid of my dark circles or anything else for that matter. I actually tried it until I was halfway through the jar, hoping that it would eventually work. Don't bother with this and try something else!

Skincare - Body -LUSH - Mange Too massage bar
lookabbycat 8/10/2009 6:36:00 PM
I cannot stand the smell to this massage bar. It smelled fine at the store, nice and sweet. It was described as being scented with honey and white chocolate, both scents that I like and enjoy. Once I got home and really got to the bar I couldn't detect any honey or white chocolate, it was just a big cloying mass with peppermint undertones. The scent is so strong you can smell it from across the room. Honestly I can't even stand to put it on myself. Definitely won't repurchase.
